Unable to login to Live Cache

Hi,
I've just completed an SCM 2007 Installation alongwith the live cache.
However, when I try to login to the LC using the dbmcli command (user control/superdba & the pwds. set during installation), it gives the foll. error:
-24950,ERR_USRFAIL: User Authorization failed.
Also, I'm not able to use LC10-->Live Cache Monitoring
Pls help, since it's extremely urgent.

-> In general, the error could be due the wrong password of the dbm user.
     For example, I created the database instance NLK with the control user and
    control password. If I will try to connect to the database with wrong password
    I will get this error ::
                                 dbmcli -d NLK -u control,test
                                 Error! Connection failed to node (local) for database NLK:
                                 -24950,ERR_USRFAIL: User authorization failed

Data movement from R/3 DB to APO DB and to Live cache

Dear APO Experts,
I have few questions on live cache and how it works, I understand that Live cache is memory resident database. below are my questions.
1) What sought of data move from R/3 DB to APO DB and then to Live cache DB
2) When data moves from APO DB to Live cache, till how much duration that data stays in live cache
3) And how does data gets pulled in to live cache from APO DB
4) Why do we require live cache logs while data never gets commited to hard disk
5) Do we ever add a datafile to Live cache DB
any info that you provide on this will be really helpfull to me

and shipped to the customers as binary LCA libraries(LCA build) together with the LiveCache.

Live cache backup

Hi Experts,
I am beginner to SCM and Live cache technology.
I have sucessfully installed SCM 5.0 and Live cache 7.6.29 on two different HP-Ux 11.23 servers.
My first requirent is to take live cache backup. But there is no tape drive connect to any of the server,
local file system assigned as backup space, accordingly I have successfully taken online backup of SCM database by modifying entries like backup_dev_type to tape in init<SID>.sap.
Know I am facing a challenge to take live cache backup on local file system , infact dont know how to take online live cache backup.
Another question is database manager gui is needed in unix environment, if yes please let me know the procedure how to configure this as In transaction lc10 upon double clicking database manager gui system generating error.
Please help to solve the above two problems.

I'd like to make a few remarks on this:
1. Backup to local filesystem w/o moving it to another location afterwards is next to useless. What happens when (when not if!), the local disk crashes? What backup can you use then?
2. You can perform liveCache Backups from DB13C/DBACockpit after you've integrated the liveCache instance (DB59).
3. If you like to administer the liveCache via DBMGUI - just install DBMGUI on your Windows Workstation and connect remotely to the liveCache. Actually this is the way how it was thought up.

The SAP liveCache technology is an object-based enhancement of the MaxDB database system.
You can use SAP liveCache technology either as a normal relational database system, or as a main memory-based special database system.

Migration and Live Cache Doubts

I need to migrate Windows 2003 Server 32-bit/MAXDB 7.6.0.035 for Windows 2008 Server 64-bit/MAXDB 7.6.0.035 and have doubts:
1 - What is the best way to accomplish this migration? Via Sapinst? If there is another way, how?
2 - In a note "1409895 - Windows 2008: TCP / IP communication MaxDB / liveCache is slow," reports to
upgrade to a new version of SAP MaxDB / liveCache. If I upgrade to MAXDB7606_14-20001288.SAR (MaxDB 7.6.06.14
Server Package) already solved?
    I'm confused about this because in the Live Cache "My Company's Application Components" SAP-SCM "-SAP
SCM 5.0 Component-by-Entry SAP liveCache the last SAP MaxDB / liveCache 7.6.03.12 Security Patch
is MLCSEC7603_12-10003432.SAR, but the version of MaxDB is 7.6.0.035

2. Please check and answer on the questions to get clear on your project first:
What is the version of your system which is planning to be migrated?
      SAP ECC 6.0 or SCM 5.0 ?
What MAXDB software do you have on the Windows Server 2003 32-Bit?
    Post output of the command:
      sdbregview u2013l

Customer can use backup and recovery to perform a homogeneous system copy of a MaxDB database instance, SAP Note
129352. For more information about the procedure, please, see the installation documentation about the homogeneous system copy.

What is Live Cache Anchor

Some times we see errors like "No Live Cache Anchor Found". Can somebody tell me in detail that what is a live cache anchor and why this inconsistency occurs. Is there a link containing detailed documentation?

This error message "No Live Cache Anchor Found" states that for one or even for several characteristics combinations (see Transaction /SAPAPO/MC62) a so-called LiveCache anchor does not exist.In this case, a LiveCache anchor is a pointer to one or several time series in the LiveCache.
There is one LiveCache anchor per planning area, characteristics combination (planning object) and model (model belonging to the planning version, see transaction /SAPAPO/MVM). If for one planning area, time series objects were created for several versions with different models, that means several LiveCache anchors exist for the same planning area and for the same characteristics combination.If you created time series objects for several versions of the same model, that means one LiveCache anchor
points to several time series in the LiveCache.
If there is no LiveCache anchor for a planning area, a model and a characteristics combination, this also means that no respective time series exists in the LiveCache and thus, this characteristics combination cannot be used for the planning with this planning area for all versions of the model.If this state occured for a certain characteristics combination, the above-mentioned error message occurs if either exactly this characteristics combination is selected or if a selection contains this characteristics combination.
Possible causes and solutions:
- Time series objects have not yet been created for the selected version.
Solution: Create time series objects (see documentation)
- You are using a planning session with version assignment.For the version that was acutally selected, the time series objects were created, however, this is not the case for the assigned version.
Solution:Create time series objects for the assigned version.
- New characteristics combinations were created without the 'Create time series ob' option (see Transaction /SAPAPO/MC62).
Solution:Execute the report /SAPAPO/TS_LCM_PLOB_DELTA_SYNC for the basis planning object structure of the planning area.This will create the corresponding LiveCache anchors and LiveCache time series for all planning areas that used these basis planning object structure and for all versions of these planning areas for which time series objects already exist.
If none of these possible solutions is successful, you can use report /SAPAPO/TS_LCM_CONS_CHECK to determine and correct the inconsistencies for a planning area ('Repair' option).

Live cache backup question

Hello Experts,
Iam new to Livecache and AP0 and was trying to understand the process of backups reason i need to perform complete SCM 7.0 systemcoopy . In past i have done system copies and well aware of the procedures .
Here it goes Presently we are on SCM 7.0
Question :--> I see our Livecache is installed on one machine and AP0 on another machine. Iam not aware how Livecache
                       was integrated with AP0.
                       Iam trying to understand how to take backup of livecache and then restore the same in Target.
In LC10
LCA --> ProblemAnalysis --> Logs --> DBA History
i can see that the live cache backups are in getting successfully everyday.
I see that Backup Label as DAT_000000<xxx> and Backup Template as bac214<xxx>.
Where can i see this Backup Template defined ( the path ) .
Can someone provide an insight regarding the live cache backups.
Checked SAP Note 457425 .
--> After system copy how would i integrate Livecache and AP0 .

         i just wanted to know what live cache means? How do we mention live cache? If an APO person says that "data is stored in live cache " what does it mean? How do we extract data from live cache?

As you know objects in liveCache stored in the class containers can be
accessed and manipulated only via LCA ( liveCache Applications ) routines
( Database Procedures ) which are methods of LCA ( COM ) objects.
The registration of the LCA routines is done automatically when the liveCache
is started by the LC10, check the lcinit.log file.
The shared ( dynamic linked )procedures in the LiveCache are written in C++
and shipped to the customers as binary shared libraries ( dynamic linked )
(COM-Routines or LCA-Routines) together with the LiveCache. The original
C++ source code of the libraries is not generally available to the customers.
You can get the complete list of the stored procedures using SQL Studio
(shipped with the LiveCache):
just connect to the LiveCache as Standard livecache user ( SAPR3 or SAP<LC-SID>
By default ) with the password 'SAP'( default ).
You can read the Config-Files ./sapdb/<LC name>/db/sap/xxx.lst
or check the information in the lcinit.log file.
Names of all registered procedures, which have been called from ABAP, you can find
executing 'lc10' transaction on your SAPAPO system:

If you need to see the interfaces of the procedures, you may use 'se80'
transaction and navigate in the Development class '/SAPAPO/OM'.
The transaction /n/SAPAPO/OM16 is provided by SAP to get
information about data stored in the LiveCache. If you
would like to get your own views, you should write a special report
in ABAP using "/SAPAPO/OM"-development class functionality.
'/SAPAPO/OM16' itself calls a bunch of OM- functions to read
data from the LiveCache, e.g.:

Error during Live Cache Server Installation on SCM 4.1 system

I have an SCM 4.1 ABAP system running on MSSQL2005 and Win2003 server.I would like to install Live Cache Server on the same Server.Livecache client was installed as part of SCM 4.1 installation.
I have installed MAXDB software and now when im trying to install Live Cache Server Instance i get the below error

Live Cache Failed (DBM error)

I am getting following error while starting live cache(LC10)
"Error DBMCLI_COMMAND_EXECUTE_ERROR when starting liveCache LC1 on server system"

Unable to delete Order does not exist in live cache but in table POSMAPN

Hi Experts,
We are facing an issue where purchase order is not available in live cache (which means no GUID) but exists in database table POSMAPN. We have tried to delete it using standard SAP inconsistent order deletion program and also using BAPI BAPI_POSRVAPS_DELMULTI but not able to delete it.
Can anybody suggest a method by which we can get rid of this order from the system.

Hi Chandan,
Apologize me for taking your question in a wrong perspective. If you want to delete the same then you need to Re-CIF the order from ECC so that it would come and sit in Live Cache. Once done, try using the BAPI.
If you are not successful with the above approach try running the consistency report /SAPAPO/SDRQCR21 in APO system
so that it first corrects the inconsistency between ECC and APO (Live Cache + DB tables) and then use the BAPI to delete the PO.
Not sure if you have tried this way. If this does not solve your purpose you need to check SAP Notes.

Hi Pooja,
SAP has come up with Live cache concept for storage and most important, quick and efficient processing of transactional data. Its a layer between data base and GUI and even the search methods and storage space has been optimized due to its structure. In DP it is used for storage of time series data whereas in SNP it can store both time series and order series data.
Regarding your second query, it is recommended to have Live cache consistency on a periodic basis for synchrinising data between LC and database tables. You can face many issues due to LC inconsistency as incorrect time series generation, Transactional data discrepancy, COM routine errors during background processing etc.
