8. When the installation is complete, click Quit to exit the installer
9. Launch Final Cut Pro with the Caps Lock key down.
10. Immediately quit Final Cut Pro and launch with the Caps Lock key up.

• (Caps Lock key Down) When double-clicking a clip with a BCC filter applied, if the Filters tab is open in the FCP Viewer, FCP may crash. Keep the Caps Lock key up to prevent this problem.
• Caps Lock key Up) When double-clicking a clip with a BCC filter applied, if the Filters tab is open in the FCP Viewer, the custom controls will be blank. Quitting FCP and relaunching will resolve this problem.
• If you apply a BCC filter with the Filters tab open, the custom controls will be blank.
To avoid this problem, press the Caps Lock key when applying the filter.
• If the Final Cut Pro Obj Cache file, located in
Application Support > Final Cut Pro User Data, is deleted or cleared, when a BCC filter is added to a clip, its user interface will not appear. To resolve this problem, repeat steps 9 and 10 in the installation instructions.

Whether it is not mandatory to be on the latest Peopletools patch for a Peopletools version upgrade, you should be on the least recommanded one if any. It is maybe playing on words, but hope you see the difference.

JCV Gy-HD100 camera patch for FCP

I recently talked with JVC rep who informed me of a FCP software patch to be releashed to solve the HDV capture problems with this camera. Has anyone senn or heard of its release by APPLE? This conversation was about two weeks ago.

Whichever type of tape you use stick with that brand. DO NOT alternate back and forth or you will tear up your heads (i.e. Sony vs JVC). Sony tapes use a lubricant on them and unless your camera or deck is made to work with them (which JVC is not) it can clog up your heads faster. Obviously the easiest solution is buy the brand of tape that is made by the manufacturer of your equipment - JVC, Sony, Panasonic, Canon, etc. Since you run JVC make sure its a non-lubricated tape.
Also be careful using the miniDV head cleaner tapes, they are extremely abrasive. Running them once and awhile is fine but it's better to have your heads professionally cleaned than using the miniDV cleaner tapes.

OAS 10.1.3.5 on Windows 64 bit, NO CPU patch for April?

After reading the CPU Advisory for April CPU 2011, it appears that for OAS 10.1.3.5 on Windows 64 bit, that there is NO CPU patch for April? It only shows a patch for Windows 32 bit. They do not mean that the 32 bit patch should also be applied on 64 bit Windows o/s having OAS 10.1.3.5? I just want to make sure I skip this CPU since I have 64 bit o/s.
I ask because the list of bugs fixed in the README for the 32 bit patch list 32 bit bug fixes , and then 64 bit bug fixes.

Somu, please check a topic 3 lines below. No, there's not a separate 64-bit installer, but there's a work-around albeit not supported by oracle.

DVD Footage for FCP Edit - how to tell if NTSC or PAL?!

Hi all, apologies if this seems like a stupid request but I have a job at the moment calling for me to extract footage from a DVD, edit in FCP, add a few bits from Motion etc., but I can't work out if the DVD is NTSC or PAL!
I intend to extract the video (no issues with copyright) via DVDxDVPro but am unsure if the DVD has been encoded in NTSC or PAL. The footage it contains is from both the States (NTSC) and South Africa (PAL) so how do I tell? I don't want to go through a standards conversion if I can help it.
I am keen to try to retain as much quality as possible (client can't provide tape) so also any thougts on the best output from DVDxDVPRo for FCP editing?

Thanks for this - it clearly shows the TV standard and the resolution plus 4:3 etc., so everything I needed for confirmation.
Glad I cheked because it was in Pal - thought the conversion in DVDxDVPro looked a bit ropey.
This realy baffled me - seemed so simple but couldn't find a way to tell the standard. Learn something everyday...
I am using DVCPro for export from DVDxDVPro - anyone thoughts on a better option?

AAC/MPEG-4 support patch for abcde

I got bored to day and made up this patch for abcde that adds support for AAC using the M4A extension.
It uses FAAC as the encoder and also patches abcde to version 2.2.3
I have not tested it yet so bear with me...i'll post my test results later.
You'll have to manually add the "M4AENCOPTS=" variable to the config
usage is: abcde -o m4a
UPDATED: fixed a plethora of typos
another side note is the fact FAAC must be compiled with mpeg-4 support, the Archlinux package for FAAC isn't, so therefore this could be a problem unless you compile FAAC yourself. I submitted a feature request to get mp4 support added.

I am trying to download the OCT 2012 CPU patch for the 11.2.0.3 to install on Linux x86-64 which is having OS of RHEL 5.7. I am able to get the OCT 2012 PSU patch which include the CPU patch too.

Do you have these codes because this will be your app? Or is this a "loan" from the school to install on your machine? Do you use your own Apple ID to redeem the code and install the app?
If it is your app, then you may install it on as many Macs as you own or have in your control.

ive decide to make a patch for modbin6 1.00.38 to improve stability and minise risk of modding the BIOS. for users which is reading this post if never heard about MODBIN better avoid reading below. its nice program for basic BIOS mod, simple to use, but very danger in the same time couse mess with BIOS and inproperty using may couse disaster. im not gona advert or to invite persons to use it. just wana make this program to be used normally to bring stability and minise risk of making corrupted BIOSes.. for persons which is already using it and have experience with him or with person Enthu which is wana try it and they dont worry if mobo may caouse for trash. there is 2 reasons to making this patch.
1. couse sometimes im using it there is features on it wchich gives basic stuffs, unlocking hidden features locked by manifacturer(sometimes really usefull especially for DIMM Vcore..). so there is a nasty bug on it which gona explain later. most of persons who is using MODBIN know about it. so that patch will spend me alot of time and minimise risk of mistake during avoiding bug couse operation need several procedure and automatised will risk free and much fastern.
2. to bring ability for most stable operations to persons which is already using it when need.
but lets talk about the patch. everyone know that nasty issue with MODBIN(made it by Borg N1,part from his collection). bug is program wont safe BIOS file and quiting with Abnormal program termination.... gives this one message: !!!File

What patch need? and how to use it? I named patch "Dynamic Patch for modbin" Couse isnt make modification on MODBIN program but momory his parent process when is loaded into memory.

How to use it..... Copy modbin6-1.00.38.exe and mybios.bin to C:\MSI, then from command prompt navigate to C:\MSI and execute "loadfix forcedos modbin6-1.00.38.exe" after that load your BIOS file... when loading is complete navigate to your patch folder and execute patchMSI.exe.... takes 10 seconds to complete after that make active "white" window and enter "Q" then hit ENTER key both windows will be closed, after that return to your modbin window, make what you gona make and save BIOS file like normal procedure... You might try checking which shell is set for your users in /etc/passwd, and then check that the shell really exists at the specified path, and that it is executable. You might also check that the home directory for you users (also specified in /etc/passwd) is mounted and your user has the appropriate rights to that directory.
Other than that, I am running out of altitude, airspeed and ideas all at the same time. There was one thing in your trace I did not understand. Why is your system looking to the floppy drive? I wonder if that is contributing to the problem.

Error while applying patch for SOA suite 10.1.3.4 on Weblogic 9.2 - URGENT

I am trying to apply a weblogic patch on SOA server but facing an error while applying the Opatch . I checked the accessibilty to opatch inventory by using the command % opatch lsinventory . This executed fine and there were no errors. But when I try applying the opatch I get the error -that some jars missing . Even if I replace the jars and try executing opatch again I face the same error . I googled a lot but couldnt find any solution . Please let me what can be done for solving this error .

For AA XI, you only need the 11.0.09 patch. Download from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows (Use "MAC" if a MAC is used).

I need to configure a new 8-core for FCP mainly. I need to keep the expense reasonable so dont want to spend extra $$$ if i dont have to.
I edit files from many different camera's these days. Mostly weddings & demos.
I want to go with an 8 core either Two 2.26GHz, OR 2.66GHz? Is the 2.2 fast enough with FCP?
How much ram do i need?
Do I need to stripe 2 sata drives together for the video?
Which video card?
Can you recommend any other software/hardware that will help me?

The stock 4870 is the gold standard for Motion; the current rev of FCP does not care much about the GPU but we are hoping future revs will use the card directly.
