BCC field in Mail

Hey guys,
When using Bcc in mail, is there a way of getting the recipients email address in the 'to' field of the email they receive?
If i send a mail Bcc'd to numerous people and leave the 'to' field blank, when they receive the message it says it's from me, but to 'blank'. If i put in my own address, the email the receive says its from me to 'me'. I want it so it looks like a normal personal email.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Simon

Thomas, thanks, basically what your saying is what i feared, you need some third party software that is capable of bulk emailing.
Not necessarily. If it's a reasonable list, you could create an Automator action to create and send the e-mails.
Of course, if you've never done this before, you should be aware that most e-mail providers don't like their servers used for sending bulk e-mail and have systems in place to prevent it. Most will reject any messages addressed to too many different addresses, and some (many?) have limits on the number of different addresses you can send to per day. If you can't send the message(s) through your ISP, you'll need not bulk e-mailing software, but a bulk e-mailing service of some kind.

  • I can't see the recipients/addresses in the bcc field in Mail sent messages

I'm looking to double-check the recipients in an email I sent, but it's not showing the bcc line in the sent message. I've never had this problem before... Have recently upgraded my Macbook Pro and updated Mavericks (10.9.2) and now using Mail 7.2. Any ideas how to get the bcc field to show??

    Hi,
I've attached screenshots of the default settings below. The settings are in '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Content'''
Alternatively you can try to start Firefox in [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe%20Mode?s=safe+mode&r=0&as=s Safe Mode] and in the first screen choose '''Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults''' and click '''Make Changes and Restart''', but this would reset all your settings in addition to those of fonts and colors.

  • When I enter a group name into the Bcc field and try to send the message, I get "[group name] is not a valid e-mail address..."

Been using the same template to send a weekly newsletter for a year or two but now with a recent update to Thunderbird the group name is rejected when I try to send the message:
With a group name in Bcc field, when I press "Send" and try to send the message, I get this alert: "[group name] is not a valid e-mail address because it is not of the form user@host. You must correct it before sending the e-mail."

This has been reported as [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1060901 Bug #1060901]. If you have an account on Bugzilla, please consider voting for that issue.
Several other people have sent in the same support request as you, noting this happened after they upgraded to version 31.1.
The exact error message is: XXXX is not a valid e-mail address because it is not of the form user@host. You must correct it before sending the e-mail.
'''This happens in Thunderbird 31.1.0 when your mailing list description includes several words separated by spaces.'''
Although not ideal, these workarounds should let you use your mailing lists until a proper fix is implemented:
    * While composing an email open the address book and select the list you are trying to send to, highlight all the names in the list and drag them to the To: box. This uses your existing data without modifying it.
    * Replacing the blanks " " between the words in such lists' descriptions with an underscore "_". This requires modifying your mailing list(s) description(s).
    * Downgrade to a previous version and disable automatic updates (Windows)

  • How to always show the BCC field in Apple Mail in Yosemite

I've been searching for this through various websites, but the instructions I've found correspond to older OS versions and I cannot find how to do this for Mail in Yosemite.
I would like to be able to see the BCC field in all Mail message windows. I've figured out how to bring up the BCC field while composing an email, but I can not see the field when I review my sent mail.

I can only speak to Yosemite 10.10.1  and Apple Mail 8.1 at the moment. You can simply press Command-Option-B while in Mail and it should toggle the setting. You can see the option in Mail by pulling down the "View" menu in the Menu Bar where you can simply tick beside "BCC Address Field."

  • Hi, In Mavericks Mail , I can´t transfer the Adresses direkt by clicking to the "to" or the Bcc - field ... ?

Hi, In Mavericks Mail , I can´t transfer the adresses direkt by clicking to the "to" or the Bcc - field ... ?

Are you looking for the button on the To field? If so, it is on the right side of the To field (little blue + )
Click inside the To field and it will appear on the right.

  • How can I search the BCC field of my sent mails?

Does anybody know how it is possible to convince mail.app (mail.app 4.6 under OSX 10.6.8 , in my case) to perform a search within the bcc. field of sent emails?
    Thanks for the advice

I am running Thunderbird v 24.2.0 under Bodhi Linux (Ubuntu derivative).
I click on the Address Book button to open my address book.
Then I click Edit > Search Addresses.
This opens a detailed dialog box called Advanced Address Book Search.
First, I can choose which address book(s) to search.
Then I can use a drop-down menu to choose various fields and search criteria, to build a regular expression for searching. It is actually quite comprehensive.
The only problem for me is: Most of my key words are located in the "Other" field, which is not included in the drop-down list. Very frustrating. The information is there, but it cannot be accessed with this tool. (At least, I have not figured out how to do so.)

  • Mail BCC field not working?!?!

    This is really weird behaviour...
When I send a mail to several recipients, all of them in the BCC field (no one in the TO or CC), it turns out all my receipients have access to the full receipient list!!!
I sent a, hmmm... well... "sensitive" mail the other day to 6 contacts, all in BCC field, and one of them "Replied to All" and everyone else (from my original BCC list) got his reply.
Is this right? I thought the function of the BCC field was, well, HIDE the distribuition list from all the receipients, but if hitting REPLY ALL reveals the list, there's not really much point in BCC, right?
Does this happen to everybody? Is this normal behaviour?
How do I deal with this?
    TIA.

    RAM,
This is normal behavior when using some (but not all) SMTPs. Without any address in the To field, the Outgoing Server (SMTP) makes this change, and NOT Mail. Put your own name in the To field if there is not another logical address to allow to be visible.

  • Is it possible to remove the To: field in mail and just use Bcc?

    Hi,
I often use Mail at work to distribute information by email to members of our union. I copy and paste their email address from another list that is kept up to date by someone else. Most of the time I remember to paste their addresses to the Bcc field so members don't see who else is a member or their email addresses. Occasionally I forget and paste it into the To field and get many complaints about privacy etc.
I therefore feel it would be safer if I could some how remove the To field and just use the Bcc field instead. Is this possible or does anyone have any better ideas?
    Regards and thanks,
    Dave.

This will depend entirely upon the SMTP.  Some SMTP will move a Bcc address to the To because their policy requires at least one address be in the To.  Other do not require it.
Better to create a Group in Address Book, and then use the Group name as the addressee, taking care to have the Preferences set to not display members of the Group.  The resulting To will read Undesignated Receipts.

  • How do I add a 'bcc' field in icloud email online?

I'm away from my stupid mac using a pc and online on icloud (in my mail) and need to send a group email using bcc but THERE'S NO BCC FIELD AND NO WAY TO ADD A BCC FIELD TO THE EMAIL! ***?!?!?! In another discussion someone wrote:
"If you dont see a "Bcc" line, click on the small button at the bottom left of the address area of your email, next to "Subject", and select "Bcc" to display it."
THERE IS NO SMALL BUTTON AT THE BOTTOM LEFT OF THE ADDRESS AREA OF MY EMAIL, NEXT TO "SUBJECT"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone know if there's some way to get a bcc field added if you don't have this alleged 'small button'?????

    You're welcome.
You're righ,t the gear icon is in the upper right.  I went back and edited my original reply when I noticed the error.
The directions in your original post apple to the Mail desktop application.
People sometime don't make the distinction between desktop mail and web mail, which can cause confusion.

  • Why an email address not show in the Bcc field in Send Items folder?

    Hi,
My user use Office 2007 and Exchange 2008. She sent an email which Bcced to 4 people for example A, B, C and D. However when she opens this email in her Send Items folder within Outlook, it only shows A, B and C in the Bcc field, but if she opens this email
in OWA, she can see 4 people in the Bcc field. It is the exact the same email. Outlook is in online mode (not cashed mode). I don't understand what could be the problem. Why D isn't shown in the Bcc field within Outlook?
    Please advise!
    Thanks in advance!
    Grace

    Hi,
Since it's a Client-only issue, we can try starting Outlook in Safe Mode to determine if it's 3rd-party add-ins related:
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
If there’s no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.
I suppose the recipient D is not listed in the mail Filter lists?

You can also test if this problem exists when you switch to Exchange Cached mode.

  • Bcc field not displayed in sent messages

I've seen the posts regarding this and tried adding the bcc field to the headers display but it still isn't appearing on the messages in my sent folder.
I know that the bcc addresses are in fact being sent because I got a reply from one of them today. Yes, when I choose view/message/headers or view/message/raw source, only the contents of to: or cc: field appear. I also tried this with some test messages to my own addresses.
One caveat here is the account I am sending here is an exchange account.
    Any ideas?

    Alan,
This info is available in at least two ways.
    1) open the message in the Sent mailbox, click on View in the menubar, place the cursor on Message, and choose Long Headers, or
    2) use Mail Preferences/Viewing to choose to use Custom header view, and choose to include the Bcc header, with all messages where it is available.

  • Outlook 2013 - BCC field won't auto populate with frequent email recipient.

Outlook 2013 - BCC field won't auto populate with frequent email recipient. In the TO or CC, if they enter the first initial of a recipient, it auto-suggests recipients. This does not happen in the BCC field. Is there an option to turn that on?

    Hi,
Does this issue happen to a certain client or many of them?
There is no separate option to enable/disable auto-complete for Bcc field.
Since auto-complete works in the To and Cc fields, it means the auto-complete is not corrupt. We may try turn off the Auto-Complete and turn on it again to see the result. To do this, go to
File > Options > Mail, scroll down to the
Send messages section, clear the check box before "Use Auto-Complete List to suggest names when typing in the To, Cc, Bcc lines". Click
OK. Check the box again, click OK and see the result.
We may also test it in Outlook safe mode. To do this, press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type
    outlook.exe /safe and press Enter.
Please let me know the result.

  • An incorrect email address I put in the BCC field has repeated itself infinitely and blocked outgoing messages. I can select but not delete the long list from the Warning. What can I do?

I put an incorrect email address in the BCC field of an email. A 'Warning' dropped down where the address was repeated until it fell off the bottom of the screen. No closure button at the top so I can't close it. I can select all the repeat addresses but can't delete them. I can't shut down or restart the computer because Mail can't close. Any ideas, please?

Aha! Pressed escape button and managed finally to close the Warning. Phew! I could then erase several hundred repeats of the mistaken address from the BCC field. Sorry to bother you all. Hellen.

  • Pre-Set email address in BCC field

I am considering posting all incoming (received) email messages to my account in Salesforce.com.
To do so, I must enter the Salesforce special return address every time I sent an outgoing message.
Rather than do this manually, is there a way to automatically enter this particular address so that it always appears in the BCC field every time I send a message?
    Thanks....David

There is a group of apple scripts available known as "Mail Scripts 2.10" that has as one of the scripts a thing called "Filter Sent Messages (Mail)." From the webpage, it states that this script is "Another faceless scripts which will apply your rules to the messages in the "Sent" mailbox." I've not personally used it so I'm not familiar with it, but this may be of interest to you. If it works as advertised, then maybe you could develop a rule in Mail's preferences to apply to your sent mail folder (as opposed to just the inbox folder) to do what you need.
