BCP data into a file using Runtime class
Hi,
I have a problem in using the Runtime class.
I am trying to bcp a table's data into a file.I am working on a Unix environment.
My bcp is not getting completed fully.The total records to be bcped is 1 million,but only one lakh records is getting bcped and then it hangs up..But if i issue the bcp command from my telnet session it is bcping it to the file without any problem.Can anyone help me out on how to overcome this..
Is there anything specific with Runtime class..I am pasting the code that i tried out below.
String l_s_bcpQuery="bcp mubstage.dbo.HousingUnitSampleMarket out /dun/d3nmb0/mariaps/subracheckprototype -c -t~ -Umariaps -Prykwz5ba -SD3NMB_MUB";
try{
Runtime time=Runtime.getRuntime();
Process p=time.exec(l_s_bcpQuery);
p.waitFor();
System.out.println("The exit value is:"+p.exitValue());
}catch(Exception ioe){
ioe.printStackTrace();
System.out.println("IOException"+ioe.getMessage());
you might need to capture the stout & sterr from the process. see http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/api/java/lang/Process.html, or many other similar questions on this forum.
try this:
try{
Runtime time=Runtime.getRuntime();
Process p=time.exec(l_s_bcpQuery);
BufferedReader stout = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(p.getInputStream()));
BufferedReader sterr = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(p.getErrorStream()));
String out = stout.readLine();
String err = sterr.readLine();
while((out != null)||(err != null))
if(out != null)
System.out.println(out);
if(err != null)
System.err.println(err);
out = stout.readLine();
err = sterr.readLine();
int exit_value = p.waitFor();
System.out.println("The exit value is:"+ exit_value);
}catch(Exception ioe){
ioe.printStackTrace();
System.out.println("IOException"+ioe.getMessage());
}

Spool SQl data into text file using dynamic sql
Hi,
I am spooling output data into text file using command
select 'select t.mxname,bo.lxtype,t.mxrev'||chr(10)||'from mx_1234567'||chr(10)||
'where <condition>';
here mxname varchar(128),lxtype(128),mxrev(128) all are of varchar type.I want the output in format
e.g Part|1211121313|A
but due to column width the output,I am getting is with spaces.
"Part then blank spaces |1211121313 then blank spaces |A"
how can I remove these spaces between columns.I used set space 0 but not working.
Thanks in advance.
Your help will be appreciated.Hi Frank,
I have seen your reply for SET LINE SIZE function. But, I could not be able to understand it.
I am facing similar kind of issue in my present project.
I am trying spool more than 50 columns from a table into flat file. Because of more column lengths in few columns, i am getting space. There are so many columns with the same issue. I want to remove that space.so that, data can fit perfectly in one line in .txt file without any wrap text.
Below is my sample query.sql. Please let me know the syntax. My mail id : [email protected]

Export batch data into CSV file using SQL SP
Hi,
I have created WCF-Custom receive adapter to poll Sql SP (WITH xmlnamespaces(DEFAULT 'Namespace' and For XML PATH(''), Type) . Get the result properly in batch while polling and but getting error while converting into CSV by using map.
Please can anyone give me some idea to export SQL data into CSV file using SP.How are you doing this.
You would have got XML representation for the XML batch received from SQL
You should have a flat-file schema representing the CSV file which you want to send.
Map the received XML representation of data from SQL to flat-file schema
have custom pipeline with flat-file assembler on the assembler stage of the send pipeline.
In the send port use the map which convert received XML from SQL to flat file schema and use the above custom flat-file disassembler send port
If this answers your question please mark it accordingly. If this post is helpful, please vote as helpful by clicking the upward arrow mark next to my reply. -
How we write into properties file using get class method
Hi
I want to set some value into properties file using given code
can any one please tell me how i can do this.
property file
setting.properties
Name = abc
and code I use is
java.io.InputStream oInputStream = this.getClass().getResourceAsStream("Setting.properties");
Properties obj = new Properties();
obj.load(oInputStream);
String myName = obj.getProperty("Name");
System.out.println("myName :"+myName);
obj.setProperty("Name","def");
FileOutputStream oOutput= new FileOutputStream("Setting.properties");
obj.store(oOutput, "");
thanks.You can't.
If you have properties that change dynamically, you should not be using a properties file that sits in the classpath, you should be using Preferences, or a properties file that sits in some application or possibly even user directory, but not one in the classpath. The proper way to do this, would be to have a properties file in your jar (or otherwise in your classpath) that contains the defaults, and another one outside of the classpath in one of the twwo above mentioned areas, then, you read the default one only if the other doesn't exist, or you read the default one first, then read the other overwriting the values from the defaults.
Don't forget to save the properties again (right after loading if you loaded, or always load, the defaults) after every change. -
Data convertion while exporting data into flat files using export wizard in ssis
Hi ,
while exporting data to flat file through export wizard the source table is having NVARCHAR types.
could you please help me on how to do the data convertion while using the export wizard?
Thanks.Hi Avs sai,
By default, the columns in the destination flat file will be non-Unicode columns, e.g. the data type of the columns will be DT_STR. If you want to keep the original DT_WSTR data type of the input column when outputting to the destination file, you can check
the Unicode option on the “Choose a Destination” page of the SQL Server Import and Export Wizard. Then, on the “Configure Flat File Destination” page, you can click the Edit Mappings…“ button to check the data types. Please see the screenshot:

I am able to to download the data into XLS file using the FM: GUI_DOWNLOAD in SAP ECC 6.0and also opening the file . But when i download the data into XLSX file . I am able to download the data into GUI_DOWNLOAD. But while opening the file i am getting the below mentioned error.
'Excel cannot open the file 'filename.xlsx' because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file'
Ok buttom is coming not able to open the file.
When i use the FM: SAP_CONVERT_TO_XLS_FORMAT to download the XLS it self it is going abap DUMP that file type error.
Any one help any Function Module or how to download data through abap programing into XLSX file.
Thanks.
Murali.
Message was edited by: Matthew Billingham - adjusted wording...If you want to download your ALV to an .XLXS format file, with all the formatting intact, please try the following code. I have tried to create a custom Function module Z_EXCEL_DOWNLOAD_TEST wherein I pass all the callback variables, the final ALV internal table and all the ALV details like field catalog, sort, layout, event list and so on, along with the concatenated file path and file name in I_FILE. I have used a custom class ZCL_SALVEXPORT_XML which is a copy of the standard class CL_SALV_EXPORT_XML_DIALOG, with few modifications in Method: EXECUTE and Method: DOWNLOAD. The methods where I have modified the code are also shown at the end.

Append data into the file in application server
Hi Friends,
I have an issue where i have a job which has three different stepst for same program. If i run the job the program will create a file in the application server and append the other two steps in the same file without overwriting the file or creating a new file.
My problem is like its creating three different files in application server for that particular job since it has three steps . Its not appending into one particular file .
I am using the FM 'Z_INTERFACE_FILE_WRITE' where i have used the pi_append in the exportng parameter . ITs working when i specify the file in local system. It is appending correctly when i run the report normally to apppend into local system.
But when i schedule a job to append the file in application server its creating three different files.
Kindly help me if anyone is aware of this issue
Thanks in advance
KishoreHi,
Please use open dataset to write and append files.Please check the logic of Z FM which you are using .
To open and write into a file use
OPEN DATASET FNAME FOR OUTPUT.
To append data into existing file use
OPEN DATASET FNAME FOR APPENDING.
To write into file:
v_file = file path on application server
OPEN DATASET v_file FOR output.
IF sy-subrc NE 0.
write:/ 'error opening file'.
ELSE.
TRANSFER data TO v_file.
ENDIF.
CLOSE DATASET v_file.
For appending :
OPEN DATASET v_file fOR APPENDING.(file is opened for appending data position is set to the end of the file).
Thanks and Regards,

Loading data into HANA DB (using hdbsql client) with Control file.
Hi,
I am working on a Project where the requirement is to load data from a csv file into HANA Database.
I am using HDBSQL, command line client on a windows machine to upload the data into HANA DB on a linux server.
I am able to successfully use the HDBSQL to export the file.
I have the following questions w.r.t to Bulk uploading data from CSV:
Where should the CSV file reside? Can this be in the windows machine or is it mandatory to have in the dropbox location.
Where should the control file reside? Can this be in the windows machine or is it mandatory to have in the dropbox location.
Where will the error file reside in case of errors?
I am new to this and any help is much appreicated.
Thanks,
ShreeshaHi Shreesha,
Where should the CSV file reside? Can this be in the windows machine or is it mandatory to have in the dropbox location.
Where should the control file reside? Can this be in the windows machine or is it mandatory to have in the dropbox location.
Where will the error file reside in case of errors?
We need to create the DATA,CONTROL and ERROR folders on the linux server on which HANA is installed.( or a server accessible to SAP HANA server )
Hence we need to SFTP the file to HANA server to further load into Table.
Also have a look on the similar requirement on which i worked

How to writing the data into the file at the same frequency of data acquisition using myRIO
Hi everyone,
I have a question regarding data acquisition fequency and data recording frequency of myRIO. Hope you guys can help me out.
Basically, I want to acquire voltage input at analog input 0 at the frequency of 1kHz and then write the data into a file (tdms format).
However, I always found there were only 55 or 56 data points recorded every second in the data file (see the excel sheet).
To confirm my data acquisition was performed at the correct frequency, I added a small function in the main loop to indicate the time spent between two acquisition events.
To my surprise, the period of data acquistion is correct (1ms or 1kHz) but there are only 55 or 56 data point per second recorded in the data file.
How can I record every data point acquired by the analog input?
Thank you!
P.S. I am very new to myRIO. How can I manually set the system time for myRIO? The default time of my myRIO is wrong.
Best,
Tengyang

FTP using Runtime class ...Please Help ??
Hi,
I am trying to ftp a file programatically.
I am trying to use Runtime class but facing problems
in it.This is what I am trying to do :
Runtime rr = Runtime.getRuntime();
String[] cmds = new String[2];
cmds[0]="username=rahmed";
cmds[1]="password=prpas";
try{
Process p = rr.exec("ftp 192.168.1.18",cmds);
rr.exec("put vv.txt");
This does not work ??
Is there any way to make it work ? Or is there any
other way to ftp a file programatically ??
Thanks in adavance..
Regards
RaisUnder Linux/Unix at least, it is good to use the switches -n and -i with the ftp client acually meant for intercative usage.
-i Turns off interactive prompting during multiple file transfers.
-n Restrains ftp from attempting ``auto-login'' upon initial connection.
I do "user <myuser> <mypassword>" then from the script.
I am happily using ftp this way from shell-scripts in my projects.
scp is however better than ftp: it does not send plain text passwords over the net, it support key-based login, its encrypts the data. -

Java.io.NotSerializableException when overwrite the JTable data into .txt file
hi everyone
this is my first time to get help from sun forums
i had java.io.NotSerializableException: java.lang.reflect.Constructor error when overwrite the JTable data into .txt file.
At the beginning, the code will be generate successfully and the jtable will be showing out with the data that been save in the studio1.txt previously,
but after i edit the data at the JTable, and when i trying to click the save button, the error had been showing out and i cannot succeed to save the JTable with the latest data.
After this error, the code can't be run again and i had to copy the studio1.txt again to let the code run 1 more time.
I hope i can get any solution at here and this will be very useful for me.
