Bd-rom dvd-rw on a G700

hi just replaced my dvd-rw drive for a bd-rom dvd-rw drive and dvd discs work but when i put in a bd disc i get(there is a disc with an unsupported format in drive) i have power dvd 10 & 12 both play bd discs blueray ,mpeg4 and all the format types are ticked so it should play them in theorey. nor will media player classic x64 and i have cccp codec pack installed

quick update i installed k-lite codecs which has allowed it to work on media player classic x64 but still not on power DVD 10 or 12 even though they got it to work on my desktop pc after installation last year after installing a bd-rw drive in that strange

After installing Quicktime CD-ROM/DVD drive doesn't work.

We use Quicktime to view files created by agencies. After installing Quicktime 7.1 the CD-ROM/DVD drive on the IBM thinkpad no longer works.
error - This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)
The only way to resolve this issue is to edit the registry and remove the Upper and Lower filters.

Last night I had the same problem. Tried to upgrade and got the version with Itunes to see what it was. After reboot, Both physical drives and a vertual drive now have the yellow mark. This program should not have touched device drivers. Uninstalled both quicktime and Itunes and rebooted. Same thing. Reinstalled Quicktime. Same thing. Ran reg mechanic. it said 2 dlls where missing:
PxSFS.DLL
pxwma.dll
These don't seem to be device drivers, so should not have had an effect, but I replaced them which made reg mechanic happy. Problem is still there.
In Event viewer for application I now have this error at each reboot:

For System Event I have this at each reboot because the cdroms are disabled:

Looking through this thread it looks like just other users replying. Where is Apple? they created this mess.

My CD Rom, DVD Drive says "Disc is full when it's brand new.

I have downloaded burner software. Autoplay does not show. My CD Rom/DVD drive will read a disc but will not format or burn a disc. A new disc will show as full or no disc. I'm using Windows 7 Professional as my OS. and I have downloaded A Shampoo, burnaware free and expressburn software.

What type of DVD are you attempting to burn: DVD -R or DVD +R? Some burners will accept either format but some are type specific. Try using the other format (-R if currently using +R; +R if currently using -R) and see if that helps...

Cd-rom dvd combo drive question

Hi folks, I'm currently experiencing probl with my cd-rom dvd combo drive cheepo "rosewill". When I'm playing dvd movie the sound is clicking and it's really anoying.To make sure it is dvd combo drive , copied dvd (vob) file to comp, and then played; Sound was perfect.is this something wrong with my dvd drive or I just missed something ??

CD ROM / DVD Drive not recognised and virus on computer

Can anybody help please?
My CD ROM / DVD Drive has failed. I have tried troubleshooting etc but to no avail. The computer does not recognise I have a cd rom / dvd drive as it says it is not recognised by the registry?
I also have a virus I cannot get rid of, this may be part of the problem (Trojan-Spy.HTML.Smitfraud.c) I have run numerous virus, spyware and trojan checks but there is no cure yet?
I tried system recovery but it will not let me recover to a previous date.
I cannot use my recovery disc because the computer does not recognise the drive. A catch 22 situation.
Can anyone offer any advice other than throw it out of the window?
Help from anyone would be much appreciated.

HI Paul,
I think your first priority will be to remove the virus from your notebook. The following link contains details of the virus :-

Is you CD-ROM shown in the BIOS ? If so then set it to be the first selectable boot device and you should then be able to load your recovery disk and reboot from it.

Satellite Pro 2100: CD-ROM/DVD is missing - error code 39

Dear all,
after an unsuccessful attempt to install a TV USB stick, my DVD/CDRW drive has disappeared. It is still working, I can hear it work, but Windows XP does not know anymore that the computer has this function. It also does not come up under "my computer" anymore. The system device manager also tells me there is a problem (code 39) and shows an exclamation mark in front of Mat****a UJDA740. What can I do? How can I get my DVD/CD-Rom drive back??

CD ROM/DVD drive spins up when no CD is inserted

A few times a day my CD-ROM drive will spin up even though there is no disc in the drive. I can hear it and feel the vibration through the case.
At first I thought it might be the fan, but it is definitely the same sound and feeling the drive makes when a DVD first goes in, or when I'm burning a CD.
It doesn't seem to be software related -- it's happened where there are no programs running that ever access the CD-ROM (e.g., iTunes is almost never running).
Any idea why this is happening? Or how to stop it?

Two guesses: either you're hitting the eject key by accident, or there's dust or something in there that makes the drive think a disc is loaded.

I no longer see my CD-ROM/DVD at My Computer. How do I fix this?

I started Regedit and I see the CD ROM and I see {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}, but do not see upper nor lower limits in the right pane. I checked Device manager and I see the WDC WD2500 BEVS -60UST0 ATA Device.

Windows 7 will hide the device if there is no disc in it.
You can change this in Control Panel (icon view) > Folder Options > View Tab
Uncheck "Hide empty drives in the Computer folder"
Hit OK.

How to get only the CD ROM / DVD ROM units

Hy to everybody,
I have a little problem and i hope someone could help me.
The problem is like this i've whant to list all the CD/DVD units, not all the units.
For exemple if i have C: D: E: G: and C: and D: are hdd and E: it's a CD unit and G: it's a DVD unit i whant to get only D: and G: .
I've tried with File.listRoots().
but this gives me all the units. It's there a way to specify the type of the units i whant to get?

Some systems can mount a file system against a file containing an iso image.
Does such a file system qualify as a CD/DVD unit or not?
If a CD/DVD drive is shared by another box and it is being accessed as a network drive, does it qualify as a CD/DVD unit?

T42p CD-ROM/DVD not responding

My CD/DVD is not responding when I insert a disc. It's showing up in the files section but it's not reading or playing anything.
Is this a driver issue or hardware issue?

If it is the same CD drive that worked in the same T42p before and you haven't recently flashed the drive or your BIOS or other critical file system driver in Windows.....
your drive is going out. BUT, TAKE A $4 can of compressed air and blast out anything that comes off and do so until clean.
Next, carefully and gently slide back and forth a few times the reader assembly, it is theapparatus typically parked at the cneter spindle and can be carefully hand worked since older drives may be dry of adequate grease to keep the tracks responsive.
If the drive is just stuck, it would spit errors at the OS and may relay to the end user or not.
If that drive didn't come with that PC and never worked before, then conduct the research with respetive model numbers since drives can be flashed and the possibilities and combinations are endless to describe here.v
Don't just sit there, take a second and use the Kudo's button to compliment the people who help you.

DVD-ROM/DVD@ccess

I want to include some .pdf files on my dvd. I think I have followed the instructions in the manual correctly and can access the files directly on the burnt dvd so I am obviously getting part of the process right. However, I want the user to click on a button and a particular .pdf to open up. I have done the DVD@ccess bit on a menu and wonder if I am getting it wrong on the file path bit. Anyone got experience of doing this process?

I have in the past got internet access working and I do agree with you on the client situation if they have a PC. I've checked out Roxio eDVD on the internet and Sonic. Alas, these packages only work on a PC.
Since my first posting I have managed to get the internet and .pdf access working on the simulator but not on the burnt disc. I'm wondering if this could be a memory problem on my laptop and I'm about to visit the local library to check it out the disc on a PC.

Satellite A660 DVD/CD-ROM drive does not detect discs

Hi there,
I have a Toshiba Satellite A660 with a MAT****A BD-CMB UJ141ES DVD/CD-ROM drive. It is about 18 months old and recently I have noticed that it does not recognise any CDs/DVDs. It makes a couple of noises once inserted but then stops spinning and nothing happens or changes in My Computer view.
Please note there seems to be no apparent problems with the drive:
- It is present in My Computer
- The device is working properly in device manager
Things I have already tried:
- Run Microsoft FixIt and CD-ROM/DVD Troubleshooter - both said it could not recognise media
- Deleted upper filter in the registry as per many suggestions (no lower filter present)
- Updated driver
I don't know what else to do. Please help as this is frustrating for a relatively new notebook which never is moved from my desk (don't expect many damaged parts).
