BDLS Question?

Hello
I am using SRM 5.5 extended Classic and ECC 6.0.
We have recently re-pointed our test systems to a different R/3 test client and have changed some of the logical system names manually before running BDLS.
Please can you advise what will happen if I now run BDLS to change all of the other Logical system names that we did not change manually?  Will there be any errors caused by this and will BDLS ignore those we have changed already or do you advise we revert them all back and then run BDLS?  Or is there a way we can just exclude those before running BDLS?
Please can someone advise as this is the first time I have done this and I dont want to get it wrong?
Many thanks in advance.

Hello Pete
Thank you for coming back to me.
We had SRQCLNT300 pointing to ERQCLNT300 and now it has been changed to SRQCLNT300 pointing to ERQCLNT315 which is a copy of ERQCLNT300.
The RFC destinations were changed by the Basis Team and then we started to change the EBP and R/3 Logical system names manually as at the time were not aware of BDLS.
Therefore we do not know what the implications would be to now run BDLS if we have already changed some of the logical system names manually.
Hope this makes more sense.

  • Security question about Admin transaction: BDLS

    Hello Experts,
i have a question regarding BDLS transaction: Conversion of Logical Systems. My former supervisor gave me the task to remove the BDLS transaction from all user profiles because of its critical matter. It should not be performed on Productive systems.
As i checked SAP Notes and documentations, i found this line:
"It is not possible to convert logical system names in a productive systemu201D
Based on common sense, it is not possible to perform the transaction in the Productive systems and not because of Authorizations but because SAP Standard it is so defined.
Do you have any experience with this? There are a few people that have this Transaction in our Systems but if its not possible to perform it, then i dont need to remediate it.
    Thank you, for your feedback,
    Cheerz,

Were there any condition given on the same? If so then check if the same satisfy in your production system or not. However I am in favour of removing the transaction anyway. I am not so familiar with this transaction but there might be many other way (may be program, FM etc) through which some undone might be done.

  • Question on BDLS

We have upgraded 4.6C to ECC6.0 SR2 and BW 3.1 to BI 7.0. Both of these are upgraded from the copy of the respective production databases (after migration). After the upgrade I am facing problem with re-establishing the source system. I have few questions here:
    1. Is it harmful to delete the existing source system and recreate with the same name?
    2. What is the normal procedure to re-establish after the upgrade?
    3. Why am I getting an error message that says no entries found in inbound and outbound table of the source system?
I am sure I have done it the right way as I have been doing with other projects. I am surprised to see these error messages. Can you tell me if I have gone wrong somewhere?
    After the upgrade:
    a) I converted the logical system on both the source system and the BI system.
    b) Also, I converted the logical system of the source system on the BI system.
    Thank you.

    Question on BDLS

  • BDLS or BDLSS after Client copy

    Hi all,
I am currently working on two systems ..SRM and ECC 6.0.In SRM and ECC.We have 2 clients 100(Development) and 120(Customizing) in both the systems. We recently did a client copy of production to our development clients and I have one confusion regarding the LOGICLA SYSTEM UPDATE which is one of the madatory steps post client copy.
For the LOGICAL SYSTEM UPDATE,do we need to run the transaction BDLS or BDLSS??What is the difference between these 2 transactins? Also what are the advantages /disadvantages?
My BASIS guy told me that during our client copy,BDLS was automatically run.Surprisingly, although BDLS was run,the logical system entries are not yet updated!
    Please advise.

    Hello,
You need to run BDLSS, which has enhanced functionalities of BDLS. Check the following link out:
    [Conversion of Logical Systems|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_NW04s/helpdata/en/33/c823dbaea911d6b29500508b6b8a93/frameset.htm]
For your question related the difference between BDLS and BDLSS, from the above link:
As of NetWeaver 6.20, SAP provides the option to convert logical systems using a new transaction that is more transparent and easier to use. Transaction BDLS has been used for this purpose until now. This transaction remains unchanged, and is enhanced by the new transaction BDLSS. In contrast to BDLS, in BDLSS logical systems can also be converted remotely in all partner systems.

  • How to deal with BDLS during 4.6C -- ECC 6.0 upgrade?

    Hi,
I am currently performing an upgrade from 4.6C to ECC 6.0 and before which, I am also performing a data migration from x86 (Intel) servers to x64 (AMD) servers. So, we have three fresh AMD servers (DEV, QAS, PRD). While the current landscape (x86) is live, I migrated the data from PRD (x86) to DEV (x64) and performing the upgrade. I used the same data to perform upgrade on QAS (x64) also.
Now, performing the data migration and upgrade on the PRD (x64) would involve more downtime. So, in order to avoid that, have decided to split the whole process over two consecutive weekends. The plan is as follows:
    Weekend 1:
Bring down the PRD (x86), do a complete backup and restore the same on PRD (x64), then perform the data migration activities on PRD (x64). Once this is done, we want to go live with the PRD (x64) running R/3 4.6C on MS SQL 2005 and Windows 2003, for one week (5 days - Monday through Friday).
And during these five days, I would perform the PREPARE phase.
    Weekend 2:
I will start the upgrade on PRD (x64) on this weekend so that, we will get sufficient time to test and do post upgrade activities and decide to go live or not.
I hope the above procedure would work. What do you guys say?
Anyways, my question is, normally with the DEV and QAS, I perform the migration, PREPARE, upgrade and finally do the BDLS to convert the logical system to point to the new SID. But, with PRD, I cannot do so because, the system will go live with the new SID for one week. So, I may want to perform the BDLS on R/3 4.6C running on PRD (x64) and then perform the upgrade the following weekend. My question is, is it ok to do so?
NOTE: The SID in the x86 and x64 are not the same. I have mentioned above the same SID just for ease of reading and typing.
    Thank you.

    Hi Markus,
Sorry, it took a while to respond to your reply to my question. Yes, I understand that we don't have to convert the logical system. But, in our case, we use the production system database copy to upgrade the new development  box. So, we have to convert the logical system in the newly upgraded Development system from the one that currently belongs to the 32 bit production system to a new logical system that is unique to the landscape. We cannot even use the logical system name that belongs to the 32 bit Development System because, that box is currently being used until we go live with the 64 bit production box. So, we will have to create a new logical system. In this case, as we want to maintain consistency in the logical system naming format across the new 64 bit landscape, we are probably forced to convert the logical system name on the 64 bit production box also.
So, now can you please advise, is it wise to convert to the new logical system after migrating the production server from 32 bit to 64 bit but, before the upgrade to ECC 6.0? As I had mentioned in my previous question, we will be live with the 4.6C on the 64 bit box for one week after migration to 64 bit but, before upgrade. In this case, I will have to connect to APO 64 bit and BI 7.0 64 bit (RFC) for one week before upgrade which, would need the logical system.
Or do you feel, we still can use the old logical system for the one week and after completing the upgrade, we can do the logical system conversion on the PRD to maintain naming consistency across the landscape?
    Thank you.

  • Procedure to restart cancelled BDLS (logical system conversion) !! Urgent

    Hello Experts,
I need immediate help. I started the BDLS (logical system name conversion) and it was running for about 3 days. It was about 70% complete. But because the users could not afford downtime, I cancelled the BDLS job. When I tried to restart BDLS later, it is giving an error "Logical system name already exists". Kindly note that we are on R3 4.6C environment with CRM 4.0. The BDLS conversion is on R3 4.6C QA which was refreshed from R3 4.6C prod.
    My question is
1- Is there any way to restart BDLS on R3 4.6C? If so, what is the procedure?
2- The BDLS was 70% complete, before it was cancelled. So it created a new logical system name. Is it possible to delete this new logical system name without any problems?
3- Because BDLS converted 70% of the tables from old logical system name to new logical system name. There might be data inconsistency.
3a- Is there a way to reset all the converted tables to old logical system name?
3b- Is there a report or program or a procedure to reset the BDLS?
4- Will this state of having 70% of tables with new logical system name and 30% of tables having old logical system name create any problems for the data transfers and for the business?
Kindly help me in this regard as this is a very urgent issue. Points to be awarded for any kind of small help.

Thanks a ton Srikishan. I will do the same as you have said.
    A couple of more questions.
1- Do I have to start this immediately now, in the morning hours, asking all the users to get disconnected or schedule it later, during the night time or on the weekend.
Will this current state of having 70% of tables with new logical system name and 30% of tables having old logical system name create any problems for the business?
2- If this there a way ( a program, a procedure) to reset changes done by BDLS?
Kindly note that due to the database being large, BDLS is taking 3 days. So I cannot do this during the week days (during business hours), I will have to reschedule this during the weekend.
    Please let me know. Thanks.

  • RSA1 infosources under wrong SID after system copy and BDLS has run

Hi – we are a BW3.5 SP#21 system on 10202 and hpux 11.23 (ia64).  We have an R/3 system connected to the BW system for extracts.  Extracts work fine in the productive environment.  So 1 production BW system, and 1 production R/3 system.  We also have sandbox copies of each made from database copies recently.  The environment is as follows:
sid     client     current logical system name     original logical system name after "copy"     system role
    BW1     100     FINPBW1100     --     Productive BW system
    LH1     100     FINPLH1100     --     Productive R/3 system
    LHU     100     FINPLHU100     FINPBW1100     sandbox BW system
    LHI     100     FINPLHI100     FINPLH1100     sandbox R/3 system
LHU is a copy of BW1.  LHI is a copy of LH1.  There is only 1 working client in all systems.
We recently did the copies, creating the LHU/LHI systems.  we've completed our "post refresh" checklist on LHU/LHI, including the BDLS work.
BDLS was ran as follows on LHU/100:
    >> convert FINPBW1100  FINPLHU100
    >> convert FINPLH1100  FINPLHI100
BDLS was ran as follows on LHI/100:
    >> convert FINPBW1100  FINPLHU100
    >> convert FINPLH1100  FINPLHI100
In RSA1 on sandbox LHU/100, in the "source system" area, the source systems to the sandbox R/3 system LHI/100 tests out ok if you do the check connection and the technical name for the sm59 it points to is correct.
If I check the RSA1 --> Infosources though, and search for ‘LHI’….it doesn't find all the "expected" infosources/infopackages.
If instead I search for ‘LH1’ it finds the whole list of "expected" infosources/infopackages.  But the R/3 system i'm trying to do extracts from is called "LHI" not "LH1".
    QUESTION:
does anyone know what needs to happen to “convert” what we see in RSA1 --> Infosources when searching for ‘LH1’ to infosources that we can use which point to ‘LHI’ – it looks like all the data is there in RSA1 -->infosources, it just is under the wrong sid….thanks in advance

    Hi Ben,
Sorry to hear that my suggestion did not help.  We will have to see what the other experts say!
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/bff13df2-0c01-0010-6ba7-bc50346a6fd8
That link is to the document that I followed when setting up a BWQ system new, and we didn't encounter the same problem that you are experiencing.  We are also BW 3.5.
I started on Page 17 which is where Section 3.7 starts.
Hopefully that might help, although that may have been what you were following.

  • Is there any problem running again  "bdls" after being disconnected while r

    Hello
    I have an emergecy question
Is there any problem running again  "bdls" after being disconnected while running it (my network connecton to laptop got broken)
    Thank you in advance

    Hi,
Be sure that it does not continue to run. If it was really interrupted, yes, you must run it again. Otherwise you would have a lot of inconsistancies.

  • Question for RSSM_OLTP_INIT_DELTA_UPDATE after system refresh

    Dear expert,
I need to run RSSM_OLTP_INIT_DELTA_UPDATE , and only to told
After the execution of BDLS has completed, in the BW system: Execute report RSSM_OLTP_INIT_DELTA_UPDATE for each datasource, which has an active init request. Provide the field 'ALWAYS' with value 'X'.
This will push the init / delta information of the BW into the source system, thus allows to continue loading delta or to do a new init.
but how can i know what value to fill for the field LOGSYS & DATASOUR
I guess i should logon to Q11 then se16 to consult a table and note down the entry right? but which table which kind of entry i should note down?
    thank you so much!
    Kate

    Hi Deepak,
Thank you for your quick action:)
my question: I query the table rssdlinit & rssdlinitsel in QAS  BW right , since I check them in ECC , there is no entry in both table...
    Thank you!
    Kate
Message was edited by: Kate Ji
I now checked in the BW for the 2 table, they have the same records 200 records.
    Now my question is
If according to the results of ECC(no hits) , i don't need to execute program
but if according to the BW(200 hits), i need to execute the program for 200 times ?

  • What is the possible impact of running BDLS in wrong client?

    Hello,
I've been doing a system refresh from PRD to QUA and as a part of post refresh actions I've run BDLS for each client I have in the system. That system has 4 clients (500,600,700,800) so I've run BDLS 4 times (PRDCLNT500 -> QUACLNT500, PRDCLNT600 -> QUACLNT600, PRDCLNT700 -> QUACLNT700, PRDCLNT800 -> QUACLNT800). The problem is that I've run all four reports from the same client (500).
When BDLS finished and I've been checking the spool reports I found out my mistake - there were over 5.000.000 updates in correct report (PRDCLNT500 -> QUACLNT500) and only 3.000 updates in wrong ones (all other reports).
After this I've started BDLS for the remaining clients (600,700,800) correctly.
<b>The question is - could there be any possible impact on data consistency?
If so - what impact could I expect?
Would be wise to run the BDLS reports in inverse mode (changing the logical names to the original ones) in client 500?</b>
Here is some information that can help - tables with amount of modified records:
    BDSX_CON04*                    LOG_SYSTEM                             1                      1

    T076S                          KONTO                                  1                      1
I expect that all tables marked with star (client independent tables) have no impact (they would be changed anyway).

Thanks. I got similar response from other SAP experts I've consulted. But I do not understand what are the changed records? If there would be no changed records - I would agree there is no impact. But when I've by accident changed 3x3000 records - it is hard to belive that there is absolutely no impact.
    Can you please explain?

    My question is:
    1.Can I just purchase R-CBE6K-K9(Cisco Business Edition 6000-Electronic SW  Delivery-Top  Level)without BE6K-ST-BDL-K9= (Cisco BE6000 UCS C220M3 MD Srv,RST  9.x SW,Hyp,UPM,VCS)if I have already purchased CBE6K-K9-NEW?
2.CBE6K-K9-NEW contains this bundle:BE6K-MIG-BDL,and R-CBE6K-K9 also contains a bundle:starter bundle(BE6K-START-UWL25).I want to know which one I can use?
    Thanks & regards
    Wenjie xu

    Hi Wenjie,
If you already have a BE6K with starter bundle licensing - as you do here - you may use R-CBE6K-K9 to purchase additional licenses at the standard rate.  You may not, however, select the license starter bundle in this case, as these may only be purchased once per deployment when ordering a new server.

  • How to schedule multiple BDLS

    Hi
Logically, we should be able to schedule multiple BDLS jobs for different selection of tables. But when I schedule second job, it either runs into error or completes without considering the table selection.
Is there any procedure for scheduling multiple BDLS jobs or the parallel BDLS execution functionality does not exist ?
    Thanks & Regards
    Madhu

    No Roel,
I think I took the wrong term.  We have several logical system landscapes in 1 maintenance cycle.
    For instance:
    Maintenance cycle 1 contains:
      landscape R3
         DEV
         QAS
         PRD
      landscpae BW
         BD0
         BA0
         BP0
      landscape SRM
         ED0
         EA0
         EP0
If I want to schedule an import job to import all transports of maintenance cycle 1 in all systems, I have in the above example to schedule 3 jobs. (1 in PRD, 1 in BP0 and 1 in EP0)
The question is whether I can do this by 1 action. Schedule the import of all PRD systems on the maintenance level in stead of the landscape levels separately.
    kind regards,
    David

  • Questions on Print Quote report

    Hi,
I'm fairly new to Oracle Quoting and trying to get familiar with it. I have a few questions and would appreciate if anyone answers them
    1) We have a requirement to customize the Print Quote report. I searched these forums and found that this report can be defined either as a XML Publisher report or an Oracle Reports report depending on a profile option. Can you please let me know what the name of the profile option is?
    2) When I select the 'Print Quote' option from the Actions drop down in the quoting page and click Submit I get the report printed and see the following URL in my browser.

Does it mean that the profile in our case is set to call the rdf since it has reference to ASOPQTEL.rdf in the above url?
    3) When you click on submit button do we have something like this in the jsp code: On click call ASOPQTEL.rdf. Is the report called using a concurrent program? I want to know how the report is getting invoked?
    4) If we want to customize the jsp pages can you please let me know the steps involved in making the customizations and testing them.

No, there is no conc program getting called, you can directly call a report in a browser window, Oracle reports server will execute the report and send the HTTP response to the browser.4) If we want to customize the jsp pages can you please let me know the steps involved in making the customizations and testing them.

  • Satellite P300D-10v - Question about warranty

    HI EVERYBODY
I have these overheating problems with my laptop Satellite P300D-10v.
I did everything I could do to fix it without any success..
I get the latest update of the bios from Toshiba. I cleaned my lap with compressed air first and then disassembled it all and cleaned it better.(it was really clean insight though...)
BUT unfortunately the problem still exists...
So i made a research on the internet and I found out that most of Toshiba owners have the same exactly problem with their laptop.
Well i guess this is a Toshiba bug for many years now.
Its a really nice lap, cool sound (the best in laptop ever) BUT......
So I wanted to make a question. As i am still under warranty, can i return this laptop and get my money back or change it with a different one????
If any body knows PLS let me know.
    chears
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
I have already found you other threads.
    Regarding the warranty question;
If there is something wrong with the hardware then the ASP in your country should be able to help you.
The warranty should cover every reparation or replacement.
But I read that you have disasembled the laptop at your own hand... hmmm if you have disasembled the notebook then your warrany is not valid anymore :(
I think this should be clear for you that you can lose the warrany if you disasemble the laptop!
By the way: you have to speak with the notebook dealer where you have purchased this notebook if you want to return the notebook
The Toshiba ASP can repair and fix the notebook but you will not get money from ASP.

i was messing around and came up with this. it doesnt remove the null, but if it is null it adds ABC beside it. so i think i might be getting close. i just need to figure out how to replace the null.
    code]
    <b><%=request.getParameter("steptwoFour") %></b>
         <% if (request.getParameter("steptwoFour") == null ) {
         %>
         <% out.print("abc"); %>
         <% }
         %>
