BE 2010 R2 slow backup of NW Server

Running BW 2010 R2 on Win2K8R2 server with NW agent running on NW 6.5
SP8
The backup of my GW files (library - 500,000 docs) is very slow - takes
about 30 hours to write let alone verify - btw, my GW files are being
backup up from a backup directory after a DBCOPY- not the live folder.
The servers are connected via GB network and the backup is run during
very low usage time (weekend). Backup device is an SCSI LTO lcoally
attached to the Win2k8R2 server
Anything I should be looking at here ?
TSEAFS (6.55.03) is loaded although I'm not sure it plays a role with a
remote backup system

After we recover the exchange successfully by using “Setup /m:RecoverServer” cmdlet, the exchange server database is in the dismount status, then we will restore the exchange database by your backup tool. After we restore database, the database
is mount, then our client can connect exchange server and send/receive email .

Server 2008 sp2 freezes during DPM 2010 volume shadow backup

Hi All,
We have a hyperv guest server 2008 sp2 that freezes during DPM 2010 volume shadow backup.
I presume this is when backing up SQL databases. There are no errors in the event logs.
The sequense of entries in the System event are as follows up until the server freezes.
1) The DPMRA service entered the running state.
2) The Volume Shadow Copy service entered the running state.
3) DCOM started the service swprv with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{65EE1DBA-8FF4-4A58-AC1C-3470EE2F376A}
4) The Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider service entered the running state.
After this the entries stop and the new entries are from after reboot.
You cannot send control-alt-delete or connect to the server in any way.
Only hard reboot gets it going again.This is the only server this is happening to.
Please advise if anybody has experienced this and how they resolved.
Maybe I require a Hotfix.

This looks similar to what I'm seeing.
DPM 2010, there's one backup set (for me a file server disk) that every time I try to run the initial replica on it the server hangs and needs to be rebooted by iLO. It doesn't just die suddenly, first the data stream on the backup stops then the OS becomes
less responsive but there is no resource issue. trying to open event view will cause a few things to lock up then over a few mins the server is complete froze. like the disk drives have been locked.
Suspecting McAfee, I added in all the exclusions, that didn't help so I added the process exclusions which are done by setting dpmra and csc to low risk and that didn't help either. I could reproduce it just by kicking off a backup for this one file servers
drive so it's easy to test with.
Tonight, I had some permissions in EPO to let me stop the scanning completely and disable the on-access scan and for the first time it worked!
There is definitely an issue between DPM and McAfee beyond what is on MS's web page for AV checks.
I don't have a workaround yet other than stopping the AV completely... Something to follow up on next week. For the moment I made some progress though.

File System error while restoring a backup from analysis server to another

I have restored an analysis database backup to from server 1 (sql server 2008) to server 2(sql 2008) and its working fine
and now am trying to restore another database from analysis server server 3 (sql 2005) to server 2 (sql 2008 )but its giving error that

Slow Backup after SP7

Hi all,
hopefully somebody may able to help me ...
After updated my Netware 6.5 server with SP7 the backup performance was seriously degraded...No changes were made. Performance was fine on previous support pack ( SP5 ).
My backup tool is Backup Exec 9.1 for Netware...and I backed up few Netware server remotly...

ISP's cap your upload speed to a fraction of your download so you don't run a server off your computer.
You can certainly spend more money to upload faster, but it's a waste of money and the data online can vanish or be held or spied upon.
Then there is a prolem that you want to restore your system and there is slow Internet.
Apple now requires fresh OS X installs to come from them online, it's better to have local drive to boot from anytime, so a bootable clone is ideal, better than TimeMachine which is only a backup system

SharePoint 2010 has no supportability statement for Server 2012 R2. I would not use it until Microsoft releases a supportability statement.
Even it has no supportability for server 2012, but sharepoint 2010 running fine in my server 2012 test environment

1) Open Dashboard and follow the path: HOME-> Get Started-> ADD-INS-> Integrate with Windows Azure Backup. Then as Figure 3 shows, you need to “Click to sign up for Windows Azure Backup” and “Click to download Windows Azure

Time Machine Backup to Mac Server

If I missed the solution to this in the forums, I apologize in advance. I have been searching these forums and Google all afternoon to find a solution to this problem. If this is addressed elsewhere, please be kind enough to post a link.
Network - Mac XServe and managed client all running the latest updates. Managed settings are the mobile account with manual home sync, login message and display and SUS.
On the server, I set up the /Volumes/Server HD/Backups directory in Server Admin and checked the box to make it a Time Machine destination as the instructions stated.
On the client, I ran the command so that the network volume would show up (defaults write com.apple.systempreferences TMShowUnsupportedNetworkVolumes 1) and I am able to select the disk.
When I selected the disk initially, it told me my ID did not have permission to read/write/append to the network volume. So in Server Admin, I added my network ID with Read/Write access in the ACL section. After doing this, I can select the disk and start the backup. It acts like it is going to work, then I get the following error:
+Time Machine could not complete the backup.+
+The network backup disk could not be accessed because there was a problem with the network username or password.+
+Open Time Machine preferences to select the network backup disk and re-enter the correct username and password.+
I have spent the afternoon trying to figure this out. Is there something simple I'm missing and making this more difficult than it has to be?

I have the same issue, but with a WD mybook 1TB NAS drive. It works for a day or two, then fails. Re-entering the username and password corrects it for a day or two, and it fails again. Has been a problem since the NAS was installed. I never used Time Machine before that.

Why index creation is slower on the new server?

Here is a bit of background/env info:
Existing prod server (physical): Oracle 10gR2 10.2.0.5.8 on ASM
RAM: 96GB
CPUs: 8
RHEL 5.8 64bit
Database size around 2TB
New server:
VMWare VM with Oracle 10gR2 10.2.0.5.8 on ASM
RAM 128GB
vCPUs: 16
RHEL 5.8 64bit
Copy of prod DB (from above server) - all init param are the same
I noticed that Index creation is slower on this server. I ran following query:

Following bitmap index takes around 40mins in prod server while it takes around 2Hrs on the VM.

This index is created during a batch-process and the dev team is complaining of slowness of the batch on new server. I have found this one statement responsible for some of the grief. There may be more and I am investigating.
I know that adding "parallel" option may speedup but I want find out why is it slow on the new server.
I tried creating a simple index on a large table and it took 2min in prod and 3.5min on this VM. So I guess index creation is slower on this VM in general. DMLs (select/insert/delete/update) seem to work with better elapsed time.
Any clues what might be causing this slowness in index creation?

I have been told that the SAN in use by the VM has capacity of 10K IOPS. Not sure of this info helps. I don't know more than this about the storage.
What else do I need to find out? Please let me know - I'll check with my Sys Admin and update the thread.

Transaction log backup through SQL Server Management studio

Dear All,
I need to configure transaction log backup through SQL server management studio.
It is already being configured for our PRO server(not by me) and now I want to configure it for DEV server.
In PRO I am taking it through(SID/right click/task/backup)
Then under backup type only full and differential option is coming for DEV.
Whereas for PRO all three(full/differential/transaction log) is coming.
Please suggest how to do it for DEV.
