Be warned - expired credit cards being charged by ...

My account got hacked today and a couple of calls were made to Gambia this morning, so Skype suspended my account.  I went through the rigmarole of getting it started again with a new password.  I decided to remove my auto recharge, so went to the relevant page and noticed that there were no payment methods set up.  However, Skype had auto recharged my current valid credit card as recently as Feb 2012.
It turns out that Skype have 3 cards on my account, ALL of which have expired, however, the CC number on one is still the same as my current card, so they are still charging that card.
So, they are charging a card they they record as being expired. As they show NO credit cards on my account, I cannot even remove them.
Just disabling the auto recharge is no good as it will not delete those hidden cards and presumably if someone hacked the account again they could just re-enable it and hey presto...
The only way to get those deleted is for support to delete them, which support told me was just a couple of mouse clicks to do.
Be warned.

Unfortunately the advice I received is to make sure my account is fully updated with the latest software.
That is not satisfactory advice, unfortunately.
This problem had not occured until after I recently downloaded the newest Skype update. The problem with a hacked account didn't start until I after I downloaded the newest Skype update. Furthermore, I don't know if the problem is fixed, when it will be fixed, or how I know it will be fixed because there was no reasonable solution offered.
Meanwhile, to prevent further charges from collecting I was forced to cancel my credit card and it will take some time before I receive a replacement in the mail. I have only one credit card, and with the holidays coming this is a problem for me when I attempt to purchase things. 
At this time I want to know what Skype is going to do formally to make sure the problem is fixed; telling me download the latest version is not acceptable, as that was the root issue. 
Once the problem is formally fixed I want to know when I will be told, and how. 
What will be done for the loss of money and the complications that I had to endure in the meantime because of the lack of security in the Skype business? 
Finally, I need to know what to do from here, other than the suggestion to download new software. In other words; do I cancel Skype completely; do I only need to create a new password for my account, or do I need to create a new account altogether? What specifically is the correct solution to prevent this in the future? It cannot be new software; that was already taken care of.

If you add or change your credit card details then you will probably receive a temporary holding charge ($1), which should disappear within a few days (holding charges).     When its around the holiday season the purchasing system some times gets a lil thrown off and wont recognize the gift card on the account. But its easy to get fixed.

    Sounds like you have abn expired credit card linked o yoru accopunt.
    View your iTunes account payment info and select None for the CC.
    You may need to first add a valid card number before you can remove it.

    Have you checked the purchase history on your account (Store > View My Account on your computer's iTunes) ?     Not every type of purchase allows use of a gift card.  For example, if you send a gift yourself to someone else, it will be charged to your credit card.  Same is true if you purchase a card through the "Cards" app on an iOS device.

  • TS1424 My credit card is charged even after redeeming Itunes card.

    My credit card is charged and itunes cards are drained without being used. Is there a way to view all purchases. I would like to compare this to my credit card charges. I don't think any of our Itunes cards paid for purchases any purchases. With this information I plan to file a complaint with the North Carolina Attorney General's office. It's hard to believe there are no people to talk to and only this post to help.
    If anyone knows how to get a complete listing of all purchases (amounts and dates) made I would be thankful.
    If anyone knows how to get help when an Itunes card doesn't work I would be grateful.

  • Re-authorizing an expired credit card authorization

    I am trying to find out whether re-authorising an expired credit card authorisation taken at the point of an order being placed will duplicate the amount ring fenced on the customers card. The documentation I have seen suggests that the funds are released and a re-auth will not duplicate the amount. We have the scenario where the customers using CC are bad payers therefore at the point the web order is taken we would like to ring fence the money unfortunately the requested delivery date could 3 weeks away and VISA auths generally last for 7 days before expiring.
    Any experience or advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

    You can maintain the authorisation validity periods in the customising to keep the authorisation for longer than 7 days (SAP Customizing Implementation Guide -> Sales and Distribution -> Billing -> Payment Cards -> Authorization and Settlement -> Specify Authorization Validity Periods) but I think you might be referring to how long VISA will keep the authorisation for.
    Perhaps your clearing house could provide you with more details on this.
    Bear in mind that even if you request an authorisation in the sales order in 3 weeks time you can stop the delivery from being created if no valid credit card authorisation has been received. If no authorisation is received from the clearing house no goods will be delivered to the customer so there should be no problem.

    It seems to take up to a couple of days for the upgrade to take hold, at least that's the experience of some users.  Give it 24 hours before contacting apple.

    And yet to download the app you clicked on a button that told you that the app would be 790 rupees for you.
    The iLife apps and the iWork apps are only free when you qualify to get them free. And when you get them free the buy button to download them says free. When the buy button has a price on it, that is how much you will pay for the app.
