BE6000 and SIP trunk
Hello!
Now we use Cisco IP telephony based on Cisco CME. Cisco CME is installed on 2821 router with IOS C2800NM-ADVENTERPRISEK9-M, Version 12.4(24)T7. A SIP trunk is configured between CME router and telephony provider.
We plan to upgrade our telephone system and begin using Cisco CBE6000. I study the documentation and in "Cisco Business Edition Unified Communications and Collaboration Solutions for Small and Midsized Companies", I find that for SIP trunk to works in CBE6000 a Cisco Integrated Services Router with Cisco Unified Border Element is required. Or other quote from this document "Public switched telephone network (PSTN) connections using SIP is available through any Cisco Integrated Services Router voice gateway".
In this regard there is a question: what is the functions of this router when I make a trunk between CBE6000 and telephony provider SIP gateway and whether it is possible to use existing Cisco 2821 router as such router.
Thanks.
Hi Ayodeji,
I too have a somewhat similar query.
We have UC560 running currently at our company, the UC560 is connected to an ISDN modem from the network provider. We are now upgrading to BE6000. To connect to the ISDN E1/T1 line, we've ordered Cisco 2921 with a E1/T1 VWIC card (VWIC3-2MFT-T1/E1) which will connect to BE6000 and internal LAN. I just wanted to know what would I need to configure on 2921?
Do I need to install CUBE or just configure it to connect to ISDN line?
Many thanks for any help.
regards,

Why we dont' see H323 gateway and SIP trunk "registered" in CCM?
in CCM admin, we see the status of H323 gateways and SIP trunks have no "registered to xxxx" status.
Unlike devices with other protocols, there is no registration mechanism for these.

Adding ICT trunk and SIP trunk into Route group
Hi ,
We need to map ICT and SIP trunk into the same route group ,but the problem here is already same ICT is mapped to another route pattern.
If i try to create new ICT with same remote IP ,it's throwing Add failed because the remote IP is already defined.
Is there anyway we can add ICT with same remote IP and map the ICT and SIP trunk ? or Is there anyway that we can add exisitng ICT into route pattern.
Route pattern is used for this route group is different.CUCM version - 7.X.Please advice.
Regards,
RamanathanThanks Suresh ...
In that case ,I can assign the route group(ICT ,SIP - Top Down) to two different Route pattern.
Both patterns will hit ICT first ,Please correct me if I am wrong.

Cucm , Cube via Sip and Sip Trunk to ISP , Outgoing calls not working
Hi
We have issue with the outgoing calls to sip trunk
Below is the config and the debugs
It will be great if you give your thoughts since we have stuck here
My thoughts are:
i see that for unknown reason the called number is going with 4 digits instead of 8 digits
i dont see any sip message comming from ISP
Maybe the call not going there ? to isp trunk? From the trace the call hit the correct dialpeer 888 but i see 4 digits as a called number , but i dodnt understant the reason to translated in 4 digits the called number. Not apply a translation rule for that
confused!!!

+ Globalization and SIP Trunks
I'm trying to add the +E.164 number to Missed Call Field. On a SIP Trunk, I know I don't have support for ISDN TON (Subscriber, National, International), so when I push the Calling Party Number to a Transformation how do I ensure I tag Local, National, and International Calling Party Number correctly? Configuration examples for those who have done this would be appreciated.
Hello Sam,
After a lot of research on my personal Lab, I was able to achieve Globalization in SIP Trunks. This is how I did:
I created two partitions, CALLING-XFORM-DP-PT, and CALLING-XFORM-TRK-PT.
One is for the Device Pool, and the other one is for the SIP Trunk. Create the CSSs and add your partitions > CALLING-XFORM-DP-CSS with CALLING-XFORM-DP-PT inside and CALLING-XFORM-DP-CSS with CALLING-XFORM-TRK-PT inside.
Now create two Device Pools, one for the Trunk and one for your Phones.
PHONES-DP and TRUNK-DP were the Device Pools I created. I am trying to be as specific as possible so everybody understands, so bear with me. :)
Now, put the CSSs accordingly. Go to PHONES-DP "Device Mobility Related Information" field and put CALLING-XFORM-DP-CSS there. Save and reset.
On TRUNK-DP you are not require to do anything, of course there is an "unless", but let's stick with your main concern, otherwise this post will be bigger than it will be.
Go to the Trunk itself and add the CALLING-XFORM-TRK-CSS to the "Incoming Calling Party Settings" field. Uncheck the "Use Device Pool CSS" and leave "Strip Digits" and "Prefix" fields in its defaults. Save and Reset.
Now, create your Calling Party Transformation Patterns. I will explain to you using the Brazilian national standard.
For Local Calls, here in Sao Paulo, we receive 11 which is the area code and 8 or 9 digits after that for local number. So, I created the Calling Party Xform mask as follows:
1 - 11.9XXXXXXXX > discard digit instruction: Predot > Prefix +5511
2 - 11.[2-9]XXXXXXX > discard digit instruction: Predot > Prefix +5511
I didn't change the TON or the Plan because it doesn't matter. SIP doesn't recognize these fields.
Now, same thing for national calls. We receive the area code and 8 or 9 digits. Since we already have specific Patterns for Local calls, it is ok to have a more generic pattern for other area codes
1 - [1-9][1-9]9XXXXXXXX > No Discard Digit Instruction > Prefix +55
For international calls, our SP always sends 00 in front of the number. Knowing that, it was easy to simply add the following pattern.
1 - 00.! > discard digit instruction: Predot > Prefix +
Now, you create the Calling Party Transformation Patterns for Phone Device Pools. Achieving Localization as well.
Local Numbers
1 - \+5511.9XXXXXXXX > discard digit instruction: Predot > No need to prefix anything
2 - \+5511.[2-9]XXXXXXX > discard digit instruction: Predot > No need to prefix anything
National Numbers
3 - \+55.[1-9][1-9]9XXXXXXXX > discard digit instruction: Predot > Prefix 0
4 - \+55.[1-9][1-9][2-9]XXXXXXX > discard digit instruction: Predot > Prefix 0
(in Brazil we used to have the numbers delivered to us as 0 + area code + number. That Prefix is just to achieve localization for us)
There is no need to do anything for International Numbers at this level, because if the number is different from +55, there is nothing to be done, just receive the +E164 format.
After all that you will be able to even do Plus Dialing. If you need any help setting it up, please let me know.
Don't forget that if your provider sends you the digits in a way that you can't do much on CUCM, try to identify the numbers by adding a translation pattern in your Trunk (if it is Cisco, of course) before the numbers enter on CUCM. Then use the Calling Party Transformation Patterns to strip off any identification you gave for the inbound numbers.
I hope this helps.

Unable to place call on calls on hold - SIP Trunk from CUCM to CUBE and from CUBE to ISTP
Hi Cisco Community,
I have a SIP Trunk setup between the CUCM and CUBE and another SIP Dial Peers from the CUBE to the ITSP. All incoming/outgoing calls, DTMF-Relay works well except one thing which is the ability to hold the call.
On the SIP Trunk from the CUCM to the CUBE, I did not select “MTP” because when I do so, I am forced to select my preferred MTP codec which when selected G.729/G.729a, all my outgoing calls goes out using G.729r8. This codec works well for most of the calls until the ITSP replies back with G.729br8. When this condition occur, my call simply fails (this is very intermittent and only some random numbers).
That said, I have some issues with DTMF Relay when I select MTP on the SIP Trunk. DTMF Relay only works if the call is G.729r8 all the way from the CUCM to the ITSP. If the ITSP replies back with G.729br8, the call might established but will simply be “voice-only”.
The current setup is no MTP is selected and everything is working perfectly. I am happy with that until I place a call on hold, which when I do so, the call immediately terminate. Could you please help me understand why?
I have all media resources configured such as G.729r8 MTP, G.729br8 MTP, G.711u MTP, Transcoding with all codecs, etc. All MRG and MRGL are configured on all devices and SIP Trunks.
Below is an example of a call that is connected with the current setup:

PM-HO-VG-01#Hi Manish,
Again, excellent feedback. Much appreciated.
I will try the commands suggested above and see if I can get DTMF to work correctly while interworking H.323 and SIP.
But my ultimate goal is to have SIP all way from the CUCM to the CUBE and from the CUBE to the ITSP.
If I enable SIP Early Offer with MTP on the CUCM going to the CUBE, all SIP Invite sent from the CUCM to the CUBE uses G.729r8 as the codec and once the call is established using G.729r8 should the ITSP reply with that codec, the call succeed and I am able to see an active MTP session using G.729 when I issue the command # show sccp connections.
One thing that I saw is that my ITSP love so much sending G.729br8 most of the times, so even if using SIP EO with MTP on the SIP Trunk to the CUBE, when I sent my INVITE out from the CUCM to the CUBE using G.729r8, specially on call center numbers such as 0800 numbers, you will see that the call established but the codec being negotiated is G.729br8 which is voice only (missing DTMF).
I will be doing some intensive test again later on this week and will send the logs.
Here is my question to both of you:
Which is the best way of having a proper SIP to SIP setup all the way that will not pose any problem?
Do I have to enable Early Offer on the SIP Profile used by the CUBE SIP Trunk or should I use the normal Standard SIP Profile? Do I need to enable MTP on my CUBE SIP Trunk or not?
From the CUBE point of view, I have a voice class codec that support G.729r8 or G.729br8 and the DTMF Relay method supported by the ITSP is RFC 2833.
I will send more logs for each scenario. I think that we are getting close to the resolution of this problem.
Thanks again for your support fellows. -

We use ICT and SIP Trunks in our applications, but use SCCP for phones on a CUCM.
We do not use SIP Phones.
I am trying to get significant details about the workings of the SIP Trunks.
All my research/searches about SIP are indepth about SIP Phones, but nothing about SIP Trunks.
Does anyone know of a good source of how SIP Trunks work?Mr Pande,
Thank you for this reference. I have heard of these SRNDs before and need to get into the swing of using them
for these type questions.
I am in the process of digesting this information at this time.
Thanks again for your support.

SIP trunking monitoring and usage report
Hello all,
Recently the IP telephony system has migrated to SIP trunking from PRI. SIP trunking is running on CUBE 2900 serials.
Could anyone advise the following? much appreciate it.
. SIP trunking monitoring :
If MIB needed, any brief steps to configure it on monitored device and monitoring system?
. SIP trunking usage report :
Any software/application could generate the usage report? and show the cocurrent calls?
Thanks again,
master002Thanks Nadeem for the reply, looks Variphy Insight is the option?
I have installed RTMT and was able to get the real time data instead of the usage report. I also have CUOM -- operation manager, I haven't customized it to monitor SIP trunking yet.
As my previous post mentioned, any one could share the idea or experience on SIP trunking monitoring and usage report?
Thanks again, -
SIP trunk incoming and outgoing calls issue
Hi Everyone,
We recently installad a SIP trunk and terminated on CUBE and CUCM but we have issues on incoming and outgoing calls, When someone dial in from outside he keeps listening the dailing ring even after we pick up the phone and at the end the callers time exipres and call gets disconnected.
For Dailing out, the dialed number rings and caller hear the dailing ring as well but if someone pick the phone it apprears that call is connected but no audio in it, dead air.
Our call flow is as
IP Phones => CUCM --->SIPTRUNK--->CUBE=>SIPTRUNK=>SP
I have attached the config for CUBE and debug ccsip messages output for both incoming and outgoing calls.
Please if some help in sorting out this issue, Thanks in Advance
TasneemInbound call>>>>
The reason you are experiencing this is that your CUBE is requesting PRACK and your provider is not responding to it..
Here we have your cube sending 180 ringing with "Require 100rel"..This was sent several times and your ITSP didnt respond probably because they do not support 100rel...(It is Huwaei after all, they do what they like)

Sip trunk between CUCM7.0 and third party VOIP provider
Hi all,
I'm looking for a solution/howto configuration for setting up a SIP trunk between CUCM7.0 and a SIP-VoIP provider.
Got SIP username, password and SIP-proxy IP from the provider.
I've done such a setup on CUCME a couple of times, but never on the CUCM.
Who can put me on right way?
Can it be done on the CUCM, or must an IOS-Device be used (got a PSTN-GW connected through H323 with CUCM)?
THanks for the hint,

CUCM 10.5.1 and Exchange 2010 Unified Messaging (UM) SIP Trunk Problem
This is more a comment if you're migrating from a lower version to 10.x. Hopefully Google will pickup this post so others don't spend too much time (I got lucky and found this in about 30 minutes).
There are many more SIP options than in the past. If you configured your integration as per the integration doc, all settings are relevant, however there are some new defaults that need to change.
SYMPTOM: Dialing another number or AA pilot and being redirected internally works, but the call drops on calls from external phones. Exchange logs an Event ID 1079 from UMCore and also informational 1084 and 1172 events. A capture yields a status 200 OK, then an ACK, two BYEs and a status 481 that the call leg does not exist. The call is then dropped.
RESOLUTION:
In the SIP Trunk, modifiy the following:
Device Information. . . Check Media Termination Point Required. I've had some that have needed this checked and some where I needed to leave unchecked. In this case going from 7.1 to 10.5 necessitated enabling.
Call Routing Information. . . SIP Privacy: Need to change from Default to None.
Any comments how the SIP Privacy might affect security and functionality would be appreciated.Just to inform everyone. I rebuilt the edge server from scratch.
Now everything is working as expected.
I cannot work out how the edge was not passing on calls to exchange or not communicating correctly with exchange.
Anyway it is resolved now. -
How to create multiple sip trunks between cucm and cisco unified sip proxy
Dear Expert,
Is there a way to create multiple sip trunks between CUCM and Cisco Unified SIP Proxy (CUSP)? How to achieve it without creating multiple IP interfaces on the CUSP module.
CUCM: 8.5.1.10000-9
CUSP: 8.5.2
Thank you,
.wanHello Michael,
This SIP trunk is part of UCCE solution, which used between CVP, CUSP, and CUCM.
The requirements:
1) To have different codecs for different type of calls, as the phones are at few countries
2) To pass different number of digits from CUSP to CUCM for different call treatments

Forwarding with SIP Trunking and Retaining CID
We are using SIP trunking to get to the PSTN and CUCM 7.1. The SIP provider only permits calls originating from their own DIDs.
So how can we allow our users to forward all calls to say their cell phone. AND when a call comes in we want them to be able to see the original caller ID. Is it possible? What is the mojo? Thanks!Hi,
for the SIP trunks there are no limits from the system. Check this out: https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3795863#3795863
If you have different voice codecs for your phones and the trunk you need DSP ressources for transcoding.
As I know the UC520 have a PVDM2-64 with 4 DSP chips. You can use the DSP calculator from cisco to find out how many DSPs you need. But keep in mind that conferencing and transcoding can't share a DSP processor.
For example 1 DSP for conferencing and 3 for transcoding.
best regards
