BE6KS on ISR 4k routers

Team,
My customers in the northeast are wondering when we are going to announce support for the 4321? They do not want to purchase this on a 2921 that has a limited lifespan, considering the ISR 4k's are the latest release.
Thanks in advance,
Jason Randazzo

Not anytime soon AFAIK, this is a big omission/mistake by the Cisco BUs to release new products on dead platform.

  • Wccp performance on ISR G2 routers

    Hi all,
do you have any information about the CPU load on the ISR G2 routers, when the wccp is configured on these platforms? I have to decide between the inline mode and WCCP mode, but I don't know how much the wccp influents the router's performance.
    Thank you
    Roman

    Hi Roman,
I don't have the exact performance numbers (you should probably contact your account team for that) but I can confirm that the impact will be quite high. This because of the following reasons:
On the ISR, the WCCP redirection (including the GRE encapsulation) is done in software. CEF is used to minimize the impact, but, if the amount of redirected traffic is high, the impact will be noticeable.
When using WCCP, the redirected traffic will go through the device twice, so, if all the traffic is redirected, the load on the router will almost double.
Even though using WCCP will have some impact on the load in the ISR, these devices are designed to handle the load of a small branch, so, if you don't have too much traffic to be redirected, it should be fine to use WCCP, but as I said, better talk to your account team to get a proper sizing done.

  • Number of PPPoE sessions on ISR/ASR routers

    Hello,
I am working on a design wherein i need some inputs in terms of the number of PPPoE sessions that can be terminated on the ISR-G2 devices especially 3945/3945 E routers and also ASR1K routers
If there is any official cisco document on the same it would highly help
Also any recomendations on using the 3945s as broadband routers ???...

    Hi,
I'm looking for the same document. For Cisco 10K, ASR1000 and also 7600.
I'm also interested if someone can share real experiance (not only on-paper number).
    Thanks for your help.

  • DMVPN performance of ISR G2 routers

I am looking at branch router models & spec for DMVPN. I am being told that I need a mininum of 2911 for a 10Mbps access circuit to a branch location. This seems strange as the mGRE is CEF switched and the IPSec is in hardware. I would expect a 1941 to be able to saturate a 10Mbps circuit with IPSec traffic on a normal point-point link.
    Does anyone have real-world performance figures for 1941/ 29xx / 39xx / 39xxe ?

    Peter,
"Real-world" - that's a tricky term. If I test something over my WAN(s) and give you the numbers will it be also applicable for you? :-)
But I see what you mean, I think the closest we can give in this regard is IMIX testing, wth little-to-no accounting of packet loss or latency.
Strictly speaking 1941 should be within the specs you're looking for (in terms of raw crypto performance), however you need to account for control plane usage, amount of tunnels/routing adjacancies/etc.
2900 series in general will provide a bit more CPU power, which should allow you to easily scale up in future.
That being said I think it's fair for me to say - please discuss sizing/scalability with your Cisco SE or Advanced Services team. There is only so much we can account for in a dicussion on forums.

I am working on a project that involves integrating Cisco Voice Gateways and ISR G2 routers to our NetCool NMS. The project team wanted a list of all possible alarms that could be generated by these Voice Gateways and ISR 2900 series routers.
Does anyone know somewhere I can get a list of these alarms?

  • Ipsec tunnel possible with Checkpoint ngx 6.5 and Cisco ISR-dual ISP?

    Hi Gurus,
I have a requirement to fulfill in that there are 2 sites that I need to create an ipsec tunnel. A remote site running a Checkpoint ngx 6.5 and a local site with 2 different ISPs and 2 x ISR 29xx routers for both ISP and hardware redundancy. I have only done the vpn setup with one ISR and ISP1 so far.
I am planning to have just 1 ISR (ISR1) and ISP1  being active at any given time. If ISP1 or ISR 1 goes out, all traffic should fail over to ISR2 with ISP2.
is this possible with the ISRs?
Checkpoint does not appear to allow seeing the different ISRs with 2 possible WAN ip addresses with the same encryption domain or 'interesting traffic', so i am not sure if this work at all.
    BGP won't be used.
I have looked at ip sla, pbr, and it appears that the best I could achieve would be vpn traffic via ISR1 and ISP1, and could failover only the non vpn traffic to ISR2 and ISP2.  Please correct me if I am wrong....many thanks.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated..

Problem is on siteB with using the same ACL name "siteA" in both sequence numbers in cryptomap "outside_map"
crypto map outside_map 9 match address SiteA
    crypto map outside_map 9 set peer 212.89.229.xx

  • ISR G2 GET VPN throughput

I have been looking for a document detailing the throughput of GET VPN on the ISR G2 routers. I only found a general IPSec throughput for them and I could only find a GET VPN document for the old ISR routers.
Can anyone help me to find this information?
    Regards,
    Xavier

    Xavier,
it's always better to ping your Cisco SE for this information.
I do not believe we have external up-to-date information (especially considering ISM module is out).
As Cisco employees we cannot provide internal data and majority of test results are labeled "Cisco confidential".
Providing you with those could get us in trouble :-)

  • ISR-G2 Router with UCCX

Can you configure a Cisco 3945-CME-SRST to do UCCX? I see that you can use a ISM-SRE-300 module but will it work?
I configured the 3945 for 300 VM users and then configured a MCS7816 server with 25 users but I was reading some documents on line that the ISR-G2 routers can do UCCX.

    Chris,
The way I have it designed as a 3945-CME-SRTS for 300 users along with a MCS 7816 server with 25 STD licenses will work?
I was confused as the 3945 has a ISM-SRE-300 module and I didn't know if you can use it to do UCCX on the 3945 with the software for UCCX.

As Rick and Reza have both noted, number of routable Ethernet ports varies per ISR G2 model.  Ethernet switch options would allow the most Ethernet ports, but you need to route through them using SVIs.
However, most ISR G2s often do not have the performance capacity to run their built-in Ethernet ports at full capacity.  Often the add-in Ethernet ports have bandwidth restrictions to/from the port.
Basically, ISR G2 routers were designed to have a LAN Ethernet connection and some WAN, non-Ethernet connection, of much less bandwidth.
ISR G2 router performance is also very much impacted by device configuration.

  • EVN support on ISR G2 ???

    Hello there,
Is EVN supported on ISR G2 routers? I am designing core switching with 4500X switches but the WAN router is going to be ISR G2.
    Thanks in advance,
    Remi

Gre is supported under base, but IPSec requires security. I'm assuming you're using the INTERNET as a transport and also assuming you want to keep your communications private, in which case you would need security to provide the IPSec portion. Gre doesn't protect data; it just wraps another header around the existing packet.

  • X900 Routers

    Hi,
    I have a question regarding x900 ISR G2 routers.
If I buy a router with Security budle (a 2921 router) and I would like to add a FXS or a FXO card, Do I have to upgrade the licence to Voice/Security ???
Is it necessary to install DSP's ???
    Thanks,

Yes, you'll need to upgrade the license to support the voice feature set and also install DSP if there are none currently in the router.

  • Ordering ISR 4400 for HQ

    Hello,
As mentioned on Cisco website that ISR 4400 routers are built for Branch-Offices,  but due to the cost for ASR Routers,  Instead of ASR I want to order Cisco ISR 4400 for my company Head-Office.
Also because my company is small and we don't have heavy operations.   I want to know- isn't there any such restrictions from Technical point for not using ISR 4400  series  routers at HQ ?
    Thanks for your views

it is/will not be above 200-300 Mbps
You're looking at a minimum a 4431.  300 Mbps, in Cisco "language", is measured as a one-way-traffic and no encryption.  If you want to two way traffic OR with encryption you will need to double your value of "300 Mbps" and this brings a total of "600 Mbps".  This is where 4431 sits.
If you want two-way-traffic AND encryption, then you need to take your value of "300 Mbps" and multiple it by four and you'll get "1200 Mbps".  This is where the 4451-X sits.   These are your choices.
