BEA Enterprise Security - Linux Support

Hi All,
Does anyone know if there is a plan to support Linux platform for this product
- BEA Enterprise Security. Also, has any one used this product. How does it compare

  • Why does BEA Skimp on Linux Support ?

I was just curious why the only supported Linux platform is RedHat. One of
the things that immediately jumps to mind is that RedHat is not the world
market leader for Linux distributions. In fact, that would be SuSE. Although
RedHat has the advantage in the USA, Europe and Asia clearly prefer SuSE to
RedHat. Further, in Europe, you find more businesses using Linux in an
operating business. I think it would be beneficial if SuSE 8.0 was offered
as an official platform for WLS 7.0. The technical differences between the
operating systems are minimal and getting a testing environment for both
    should be a fast process.
A few years ago, RedHat was the thing to watch in Linux. Pop open a copy of
SuSE 8.0 and you will see that this isn't the case anymore. SuSE is easier
to use, more stable, more friendly and its winning. I think BEA would do
well to officially support a winner. I know that we would appreciate it. We
certainly find SuSE to be better and get tired of various companies not
wanting to give us support for using their products on it. SuSE 8.0 is dream
    Linux.

the mainframe Suse is listed below that.

    Hi.
This means that when we certify Suse Linux for WLS 7 as indicated on
    our
    platform support page (http://edocs.bea.com/wls/platforms/index.html)
    then
    we
will support this configuration. Obviously this is not the case rightnow.
Management is estimating Suse certification for WLS 7 in the fall.
If you want to get this moving faster you might want to state yourbusiness case
    through our sales organization.

    Robert,
    From BEA Product Management:
BEA recognizes that SuSE is growing very quickly outside of the
    United
    States.
Red Hat is still the most popular Linux variant in the U.S. by
    far,
    and
    many of
our partners have requested that we prioritize Red Hat over other
    Linux
variants. That being said, before this year we were not planning
    on
    ever
certifying SuSE, and now we've changed that policy due to requestsfrom
customers. We plan on continuing to certify this platform with
    each
    release.

    Michael

  • SAML support in WebLogic Enterprise Security

Are there any documents and code examples that illustrate how to use SAML in WL Enterprise Security? Is there any identity provider included (NOT identity assertion provider) or is the SAML credential mapper an identity provider?
The only document that I could find was around setting up identity assertion provider and credential mapper in admin guide. There ia also a mention of types of SAML assertion supported as below without any further explanation on these. Moreover, there is no information available for com.bea.security.internal.SAMLChallenge interface.
SAML.Challenge - The token is a Challenge token that has implemented the
    com.bea.security.internal.SAMLChallenge interface.
SAML.Assertion - SAML Assertion that contains the full CertPath. Same as
    SAML.Assertion.Certpath.
SAML.Assertion.NoCertpath - SAML Assertion that does not contain the full
    certificate chain.
SAML.Assertion.Certpath - SAML Assertion with a full cert chain. Same as
    SAML.Assertion.

anyone had any luck with this yet?

    Hi Joaquin,
According to your description, the error occurred when you re-created the Search Service Application.
Based on the error message, I recommend to verify the things below:
       1. Check if the association between the Search Service Application proxy and the web application is configured.
Please go to Central Administration > Application Management > Configured service application associations > Click Default to see if the Search Service application is checked.
       2. Change the app pool for the Search Service Application to SharePoint Web Services Default in the properties of the Search Service Application.
Please go to Central Administration > Application Management > Manage service applications > Highlight the Search Service Application > Click Properties in the ribbon > Change
the two app pool to SharePoint Web Services Default: App Pool For Search Admin Web Service and Application Pool for Search Query and Site Settings Web Service.
        3. Run PS command to check if the search admin timer job is enabled: Get-SPTimerJob

When I start it, it is still 10x24 fullscreen, but other settings have been saved.
As long as I stay inside a station, everything is fine and dandy, as soon as I undock the client crashes and when I try to login again and eve starts to load my toon (now outside a station somewhere) the client crashes again.
    I also get the error:
    sh: lsb_release: command not found
This can be solved by installing lsb_release, but the package isn't in pacman or AUR. I've been browsing the web to find a source tarball to make a PKGBUILD for it, but no luck so far.
You can run eve -config to get the cedega config options for eve, there you can set windowed mode.
Remember to turn off dx_grab there aswell if you're running windowed.
I get the lsb_release warning aswell but it does not affect running the client as far as I can tell.

Been a long time since I played Freelancer and I've never tried Vendetta. But Eve is third person and more tactical when it comes to fighting. It's very hard to summarize eve but it's really massive and the learning curve is steep but once you get into it, set some goals for yourself and find a good bunch of people to team up with I'd say it's the most rewarding mmo out there.

  • Oracle on LINUX Support question

    Hello Gurus,
I’ve heard the rumor that Oracle will require all systems to be at the same level of support. For example, I might want to have engineering systems on network support, with enterprise systems on a mix of basic and premier support. Is this possible?
    Regards
    VENU

    VENU,
When you purchase Premier Support, all systems must be licensed for Premier Support. See also the Support Policies document (from linux.oracle.com):

  • Oracle Enterprise Security Manager

    Hi!
I have some problems with installing the Oracle Aplication Server Infrastructure 10g. I need to configure the Oracle Internet Directory. For this i did following steps:
    1) Install the Oracle Aplication Server Infrastructure 10g, which include the OID
    2) For the aplication server database configure a Oracle Context through the Net Configuration Assistant
    3) Configure the database for using OID
    4) Create user in the database that identified globally
After that i need to configure a Enterprise User in OID. For this i need Oracle Enterprise Security Manager. But ESM isn't installed with the Oracle Aplication Server.
What application includes Oracle Enterprise Security Manager?
    Thanks a lot!

Without knowing exactly what he referring to. I can't comments much more.
    What's version are you using?
Data Guard is very mature feature of Oracle 10g, since it first appeared in Oracle 8i in the form of Standby server.
Whatever bugs he experienced, he should work with Oracle support to fix it. It could be known bugs that already has a fix, it could be he didn't use the feature correctly and assume it's a bug, it could be a real undocumented bug.
Using his own stored procedure to monitor data guard like reinventing the wheel. Actually it's worse, what on earth is he thinking that he could out smart whole Data Guard team of Oracle :D

  • How many Physical CPUs Arch Linux Supports?

How many Physical CPUs does Arch Linux Support, the traditional 2?
Can it support 4 or more Physical CPUs, How?
By Physical CPUs I take RedHat deffinition :
Red Hat defines physical CPUs equivalently to sockets, so a multi-core and/or hyperthreading CPU is counted as a single CPU or socket when determining whichedition of Enterprise Linux to deploy.
    Thanks

    Let's put it this way.
Linux can likely support more cpu's than you can afford.
That is, unless you are super rich..
If that is the case..then by all means.....
    ....donate!
EDIT: After some peeking around.. I found this.
SGI Altix 4700 incorporates the shared-memory NUMAflex™ architecture, which simplifies software development, workload management and system administration. It supports up to 512 processors under one instance of Linux and as much as 128TB of globally shared memory. Supporting these powerful capabilities is the NUMAlink™ interconnect, which leads the industry in bandwidth and latency for superior performance on cluster applications. The SGI Altix 4700 represents a versatile solution for shared or distributed memory applications of any scale.
Likely SGI has a few tweaks that haven't percolated into the mainline kernel yet (pending or rejected)..But sgi usually pushes the high end mutiprocessor systems..
    So.. around 512?

  • Internal SD Encryption & Enterprise Security

Does Sony has any plans for the above?
Internal SD encryption is something that a lot of users have been seeking. And the fact that Android doesn't have this feature built in or there's no such app in the Play store makes it more appealing to have it built in on Xperia phones. The current Android encryption only effect the 'data' partition and not the internal sd card. Which becomes an issue when an Xperia phone is lost or stolen. All one need to do is flash a new os, erasing all user data, but the content in the internal sd is still intact.
As for Enterprise Security, it's something that Xperia phones need to have if it wants to penetrate the Enterprise Market that are still being dominated by Blackberrys. Samsung has Knox, and it's about time Xperia has one of it's own.

I continue to refer Sony's whitepapers. ;-) This time the section about memory in Android devices from http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/c6602/whitepaper_EN_c6602_xperia_z.pdf
"In Sony Mobile 2013 products, “Internal Storage” is now the union of what was previously known as “Phone Memory” (for applications and their data. “/data”) and “Internal Storage” (for user’s content, “/sdcard”). The reason for this change is to make the use of available memory more flexible, and also to enable the optional encryption of user’s content."
This basically means that there are no such things as  "data partition" or " internal sd-card" anymore, only one big "internal storage" that holds everything. When it is encrypted, everything stored on the phone is encrypted.

  • Linux Support in Solaris 10

So where is the LINUX support in the new Solaris 10?
I downloaded the free Software Express for Solaris x86 Platform (11/04) and installed it on a Dell 8600 P4 1.8 system. Fresh install on a new hard drive. Then I tried to install the new FireFox web browser for Linux. Received the following error: Cannot find /lib/ld-linux.so.2. I was logged in as Root. Ran a search of the entire system and found nothing using pattern ld-linux*.

So where is the LINUX support in the new Solaris 10?It does not exist (at least not outside of Sun).
There are rumours that it will be available in one of the Solaris

january/february 2005, and the rumour are true, I'd expect that
the linux support will be available somewhere in june 2005 (??
    S10 Update 1) or october 2005 (?? S10 Update 2). (Pure

Lack of Mac & Linux Support Hurting Javafx 2.0 Early Adoption and traction.
Oracle needs to come out with a Mac & Linux Beta built, or let developers know the real story behind Mac OS and Javafx 2.0.

I too would like to at least be able to try the Mac/Linux ports, even knowing that they are behind the Windows version. But just knowing that Oracle is committed to them is enough to ease any nervous feeling that I'm choosing the wrong tech.
I have no problems with the fact that Oracle is concentrating on Windows first. It makes sense. If you have to pick one platform to focus on while you are getting the kinks out, it makes sense for it to be the most popular platform. That's Windows. But there mustn't be too long of a wait for the others. (E.g. if they were in a public beta stage when the Windows version is at final release, that would help boost confidence in the platform.)
So long as they don't make the same mistakes that were made with Swing, where there are too many assumptions that all platforms work the same - so things like Mac's screen menu bar had to be fit in after the fact by Apple using awkward hacks. (I notice that now even popular Linux distros (Ubuntu) are using the screen menu bar concept, though they have managed to fit that into the window manager in such a way that it didn't seem to cause much problems.)

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your point of view), this is a user to user forum and no one here knows what Apple's plans for the future might be. Apple discourages us from speculating about such matters.
If I were to speculate about why they don't want us speculating, it's probably because, among other things, it would just end up encouraging a lot of semi-informed opinions (i.e. speculation).
But again, I'm just speculating so please don't quote me on that.
