Packet failure means no return packet was received before the program you used to ping timed out waiting for a response --- it's a receive failure. Where you trying to ping by a URL (e.g., http://www.somewhere.com) or by an IP number (i.e., 17.254.0.91)? What IP number were you trying to ping? Your ISP, Apple Discussions, CNN, etc.? Try both your ISP and a known-good working site. It's more certain pinging to an IP number than a URL; you can use a WHOIS service (such as this one) to turn your IP URL into a IP number, if your ISP hasn't already provided that.
If you can ping a known-ggod site but not your IP, then their statement that everything looks fine on their end carries as much weight as every other ISP's similar statement, which is to say, none, and you should keep ater them to actually fix their service. if you can ping to an IP but not a URL, your ISP's DNS servers aren't responding.

Text getting cut off when printing to PDF from Excel

     I've seen a lot related to this subject but nothing that shows a real solution.
     Using Excel 2003-sp3 and Adobe Acrobat v.9 Standard, the right half of the last character in the string gets cut off. It prints from excel fine.
     It's not always the text that is the right-most on the page either. An affected PDF file is attached - note the cut off "S" on the last line (NET ASSETS OF GOVERNMENTAL ACTIVITIES).
     Any assistance is appreciated.

PDF attachment getting cut off

Hello Experts,
I'm trying to send a PDF attachment using a PL/SQL procedure. In this procedure Im picking up the PDF file from server and sending it via email attachment. The procedure works fine and sends the PDF but it cuts off the data in the PDF. When I open the PDF file I can only see half of page the rest is just blank. Printing page designed in DW gets cut off in IE & FF ~ WHY !!!

Can anyone explain why even if I design the page at 760 px.
[had it at 900 px. originally] when it's opened in the web [IE /
FF] the RIGHT margin gets cut off. WHY?? Should it be set in %%
rather then pixels?
Is there code to guarantee the text will NOT get cut off??

I spoke with Microsoft technical support via phone today. Between us - we seemed to have found the problem.
It's to do with the DPI (the font size) settings in Windows!?
I have mine set to 188% on my Windows Vista mahcine and 200% on my Windows 7 laptop.
From my Printing tests in Internet Explorer 9...
at 100 % DPI – it prints perfectly
at 150% DPI – it prints perfectly
at 200% DPI – the right side of the margin is cut off, and no footer is printed – despite it looking perfect in the Print Preview.
I am using http://uk.msn.com/ as my test print outs.
This indicates when the DPI is changed above 150%, IE9 doesn't print properly – though other browsers like Safari or Firefox do print correctly. This surely has to indicate a bug in either the Windows operating system or Internet Explorer 9?
Microsoft are going to run their own tests and phone me back tomorrow...hopefully with a solution!
Hope this helps any others with the same problem at the moment!
Would be great if HP could provide a soloution asap - surely a tweak to the Printer dirvers will fix the problem?

Getting photos off phone

Once I get this darn VCast off the phone..how can I get my photos off my phone without e-mailing them to myself?
I used to be able to do it by plugging it in. Now I don't seem to be able to do it. I have over 100 photos on phone..not on SD card. Can't seem to get them off phone onto laptop any more. Used to be able to transfer them using the cable.

i downloaded the manual to my pc and my phone. i also ordered the free copy of it. when you got your device there should have been a card in the box with info. there was an 800 number to call to order a manual (it's free and a third party ships them to you free as well) and there was a link to download it from. all of that being said....it's really not that useful. 200+ pages of some very basic stuff. it doesn't go into much detail on specific tips and tricks to use.

Editable grid in wizard gets cut off in theme 22

I am currently upgrading a number of applications from APEX 3.2 to apex 4.1. I would like to switch them to theme 22 (BlueJay) We have some pages that are editable grids and use the Wizard page template. The problem is that the editable grids get cut off, because the elements don't expand properly.
Our pages are like this:

Any ideas? I tried to change the styling on all those nested <div> but could not get it right.

The Wizard Region Template has a fixed width , see the <div class="rc-content-main"> element
Try using the Report Region or Report Region 100% - region template.

Need help getting audio off of a dvd...

So, for several weeks I've been trying to get some audio off of a DVD of mine and into a simple mp3 file. A couple days ago I found and followed this guide, and thought I had succeeded. But after a while I realized that the file I got does not play nice with my handheld mp3 player, or mpd, or mplayer, or anything whatsoever that is not gstreamer-based. MPD goes especially berserk - after playing the file, it can no longer play anything else until I reboot (yes reboot - restarting mpd doesn't fix anything). I should also mention that I'm aware that the guide is not 100% correct; I followed the advice and corrections of some commentors there too.
Anyways, I guess I need to ask for help with this. How would you go about getting audio off of a DVD?

I usually use the following command to rip a music dvd to wav:

Resampling to 44100 is important since most mp3 players cannot handle 48000.

IPad-2 getting switched off

MY iPad is getting switched off frequently. It's having a 100% battery. But while using it , it turns off automatically . Then it shows battery icon to switch it to power when trying to switch it on. Once the iPad is on, it shows the total percent as 100 or sometimes 70 or 80. Can someone help me in this issue I have tried resetting my iPad and all possibilities by turning off background app refresh, Bluetooth etc. but nothing seems to wor. Is it issue with battery?. This is happening after I updated my iPad to ios8

Safari 5.1.5 Can't Scale/Resize Page for Print Without Right Margin Getting Cut Off

If I'm trying to print a webpage that is wider than the width of a portrait-oriented 11 x 8.5 inch sheet, whatever content beyond the right margin gets cut-off at 100% scale. Now, I can go to "File > Print" and reduce the scale from 100% to 75% or whatever value. However, this just scales down the ALREADY cut-off content. The missing right margin content stays missing. I can reduce the sheet margins to 0 inches (borderless), and it doesn't help.
Before I used to be able to use Safari's "File > Page Setup..." dialog box to scale down a webpage to make it fit on a sheet. Now, that option doesn't appear in Safari 5.1.5 Mac unless it got moved somewhere else? I just have the "Print" option.
How do I scale down a webpage to fit the width of a printed sheet now without losing right margin content?

Solved:
1. Type chflags nohidden ~/Library/ in a Terminal window.
2. Click on the hard drive icon located on the desktop.
3. Go to Users > [username] > Library > Safari folder.
4. Delete all files except “Bookmarks.plist”.
5. Then go to Users > [username] > Library > Preferences.
6. Find com.apple.Safari.plist, com.apple.internetconfigpriv.plist, and com.apple.internetconfig.plist and delete them (ignore any file you can’t find).

I pre-ordered my iPhone 6 on 9/12 and during my order I could upgrade my current iPhone 4s and get $100 towards the iPhone 6. How do I get that $100 back?

I pre-ordered my iPhone 6 on 9/12 and during my order it said I could upgrade my current iPhone 4s and get $100 towards the iPhone 6. How do I get that $100 back becaus eit did not come off the order and when I look at the trade in value it is only $36

Hi GBR94, currently we would only have one set promotion for the new iPhone and that would give you $200.00 off when trading in a previous iPhone model that would be free of phsyical damage. However, if you are not using this promotion and still would be eligible for upgrade you would be able to receive the standard upgrade discount off your device.

Apple is selling refurb iPhones, $100 off list price

If you want to run the risk of getting stuck with the iPhone we sent back because the proximity sensor crapped out (that's another story for another time), get ready to grab yourself a deal. Refurbished iPhones now look to be in stock at the online Apple Store, the supposed result of a nice, stiff mix of iReturners and busted devices. Both the 4GB and 8GB refurb units are being offered at $100 off -- $399 and $499, respectively -- making the 4GB model the slightly better value at a full 20 percent off its MSRP. Not a bad discount, as long as they got around to fixing that bum sensor.

The refurbished phones are fully warranted for 1 year and 2 years with Applecare. There is no risk.
And many companies do sell refurbished equipment. Just check some of the PC manufacturers. Check Apple on MACs. If you replace a system or iPhone for nothing then you need to make up for the cost of the replacement product by reselling the refurbished product after it goes through some remanufacturing/corrective procedure.
I ask:
1. Why so fast? The iPhone has been on the market slightly over 45 days. It is not like the companies involved in this relationship of not having the where-with-all to withstand the refurbished phones on the shelf for some extended period.
2. Is AT&T providing refurbs as well? Have not seen anything to verify that.
3. When products are successful, there is an old saying, "don't eat your own babies" by undermining that product with discounts. The iPhone is doing well from everything I read.
No speculation - just questions and statements and very interesting.
