BEA JRockit 5.0 JDK Rolling Patch 1 Release Installed on Client or Server?
Hi,
the BEA JRockit 5.0 JDK Rolling Patch 1 Release is installed on the server
side, i.e. unzip and use it to run the target application that need to
inspect. Or install on client side, i.e. use this runtime to run the memory
leak applet.
best regards,
Leo
Preferably both, but it is needed on the server.

Can i install 10.2.0.4 patch set 14 on my client when SERVER is at 10.2.0.4 patchset 5?
======================================================
We have a customer with DB on windows-2003 64 bit with following homes.
At Server version:-
DB version is 10.2.0.4 patchset 5,
client1 is at 10.2.0.1.(patchset i am not sure)
Client2 is at 10.2.0.4 patchset 5.
Customer running some sqls which are taking more time from CLIENT2(10.2.0.4 patchset5) than CLIENT1(10.2.0.1). offcourse both CLIENTS connecting
same DB. we identified a bug(6350579). This bug was resolved in 10.2.0.4 patch 14(7677781).
Now my question is Can i apply this patch only at client side with out applying at DB level?
I mean i will create one more new client called CLINET3 (with 10.2.0.4 and i will install 10.2.0.4 patchset14) and then run the SQLs from new client CLIENT3. is this supported method or not?
Reason being customer does not want to install 10.2.0.4 patchset14 at DB since Customer is happy with DB performance.
We are getting problem only when we connect to DB from cleint 10.2.0.4 patchset5. if we connect to DB from Client 10.2.0.1, SQL performance is very good.
Please advise me on this.
Regards
Nagendra. You can upgrade your client with the latest patchset/bug fix (if you have tested it on some other machine and found that your issue has been resolved) but be prepared to handle any unusual errors that might arise due to this combination.
Personally, I never prefer having a client running at a higher version than the server but there are some situations where we need to and we need to make sure that, even though Oracle must have tested certain scenarios, we do not run into errors. So test, test and test before changing anything in production.

How to get rolling patch 9 for tux8.0?
Hi there,
I'm installing eLink OSI TP 4.1 on top of tux8.0 and the release notes
declare that I need 'Rolling Patch 9'. Is this already in the
distribution (nt/win2k) that I downloaded, or must I get it somewheres?
I don't have a patchlev file in my tuxdir/udataobj dir.
Thanks,
Ben
PS Kindly remove 'NO_SPAM' if replying to my e-mail address.Benjamin,
You need to open a case with BEA support, who can make the patch
available to you.
Regards,
Peter.

Optimal stack for using BEA + JRockit
I have a question about the optimal hardware configuration, because we have some memory problems.
We currently have the following hardware configuration:
- VMWare ESX 3.5
- Windows Server 2003 R2 (64-bit) SP2
- JRockit R27.4.0 (64-bit)
- BEA Weblogic 9.2 mp2 (32-bit)
Underlying hardware is a dual-core Xeon (64-bit)
Can someone tell me if this is an ideal configuration and/or if this configuration can result into some problems with memory.
If it is needed to have a Linux environment for better performance, we would like to know this also.
Many thanks. We allocate 4 gb for our JVM and weblogic is running fine, so Weblogic will run in 64-bit mode correctly we assume, because there is no >different BEA Weblogic server for 32 or 64 bit, right?WebLogic Server includes a few native components and many downloads bundle the JDK. These downloads come in 32 and 64 bit versions. There is also a generic download, which can run in either mode depending on which JDK you configure it to use.
Next, you tell me that VMWare isn't a supported stack of BEA + JRockit. Can you give us the preferred stack (for best performance) for >running a J2EE application on BEA + JRockit? Redhat Linux?Depends on the application. x86 is generally faster than other hardware architectures. Windows and Linux are approximately equal. We tend to use Windows for memory-intensive benchmarks and Linux for I/O-intensive ones. More recent OSes tend to be slightly faster than older ones etc.

Hi,
Our telecom application is java based application using jrockit-R26.4.0-jre1.5.0_06.
During tests, we've got the following crash.
Unfortunatly no jrockit dump file was created (sorry about this).
Did you already seen this crash?
Thanks in advance for your answer,
Cheers
Marian

1) Run with -Xgc:parallel or -Xgc:gencon
2) Run with -XXnoCompaction (may cause a slow memory leak)
3) Run with -Xnoopt
4) Run with -XXnojitinline -Xnoopt
5) Run with -XXpreopt
If you can get a full dump/core, you can open a ticket with BEA Support and ask them to look at it. Results from the runs above are valuable in either case and a reproducer you can provide us with increases the odds for a quick resolution.

Running Tomcat v5.0.28 as a service w/ BEA JRockit v1.4.2_04
Target platform - Windows 2000 Server sp4.
Using Sun's SDK/JRE implementation (v1.4.2_04), we had no problems getting Tomcat 5.0.28 to run as a service. However, the same cannot be said for BEA JRockit v1.4.2_04.
Summary...
I've already done some online research and I know that there is a wrapper.properties file that is required. Further, a couple of online references specify the file's certain variable definitions, but one source had posted its info truncated and the other's info didn't work at all. I also know that wrapper.properties should be placed at [Tomcat install dir]\conf\. Tomcat is configured correctly to see the default JRockit installation directory (c:\jrockit-j2sdk1.4.2_04\).
So if possible, what I would like to know is:
1) The confirmed location for wrapper.properties.
2) The complete list of correct statement lines for wrapper.properties. A template file here would work.
3) Any relevant Operating System Environment variables.
4) Any additional required files and/or operations.
In a pinch, we can live with the Sun JRE implementation for our development environment. But we would rather have our development environment completely mirror our production environment which implements BEA JRockit.
Thanks for your time and help. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Interesting, it might be connected to the optimization of throwException, please try to run with -Xnoopt to see if you can detect any difference. I'll make another post with my further findings.

Rolling patch 1 slows down the response time?
Does anybody know why intalling rolling patch 1 with wls 6.0sp2 causes the slow
down of the server response time?
Yes, but i'm not sure about the differences between RP1 and RP2. Which are the
main bugs that RP2 fixes and RP1 doesn't??

Doubts: how to check this patch which were installed in EPM HFM...
Dear Expert
I'm new to Configuration Management Service for EPM HFM.
And my doubt is how to find out which patch is installed on EPM HFM?
How can I find it?
thank youIn EPM System Release 11.x, you can use the lsinventory command to OPatch to find the release and patches that are installed in an Oracle Home. For example, enter the following command on one line:
Windows:
opatch.bat lsinventory -oh <EPM_ORACLE_HOME> -jdk <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>/jdk160_29
You can also check the Patch levels by;

Patches did not update to client Windows 7
Hi
We have 2 domain controllers installed on Windows server 2003 STD. Also Group policy management installed with the these servers. We have installed WSUS server on the another server that installed Windows server 2008 STD. When WSUS server shows thelist
of updates, I have deployed the updates to the clients(Windows 7 Professional). When I checked the clients, it seems that it could not find the patches update that I have deployed. So, I go back to check GPO that I created to deployed update to clients(Computer
Configuration-->Administrative Templates-->Windows Update). I double click one item to see the detail, I saw it's said that supported on: Windows Server 2003,XP SP1, 2000 SP3. I thought that 's why I could not deploy the update patches to Windows 7.
Then I have installed Group Policy Management on the same server 2008 that I have installed WSUS server. Then I have create new GPO, linked, enforced it. But it's still not work. I cannot deploy the update patches to client. Kindly request any suggestions
for this help to deploy the update.Hi Lawrence,
The problem is I deployed the update via WSUS 3.0 to install patch on those Windows 7 clients. But it seems that it those clients could get the update from WSUS server. From WSUS server, it saw the clients machine. I checked Group Policy that running on
Windows server 2003 domain controller((Computer Configuration-->Administrative
Templates-->Windows Update). Then I opened one item here. Suppose I open item "Configure Automatic Update". It has the message in the bottom of this message here said that "Supported on: Windows Server 2003, XP SP1, 2000 SP3".
So I was thinking is it possible that the updates could not deploy to those clients because the group policy still running on Domain Controller Windows server 2003?
When I built the new server that running Windows server 2008 STD and add the component Group Policy Management on that server. It will has the same policy from domain controller Windows server 2003. But when
I looked in the settings in Windows Update. Suppose I opened the item "Configure Automatic Update". It said that "Supported on: At least Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 or Windows XP". Then I not sure is it need to be upgrade Domain Controller
from Windows server 2003 to Windows Server 2008? When I checked the Resultant Set of policy from the client, it get the policy from Group policy domain controller, but I check Group policy on the clients. It didn't shows the policy that I set on the domain
controller. Kindly you advise me how to let the policy deploy to clients running Windows 7.
Thank you very much.
