Because iTunes wasn't working, I restored my iPhone by resetting it, and it's stuck in DFU. What do?
Due to my phone not syncing, I decided to look up how to restore an iPhone without iTunes, and found that if you reset it on the phone, that'll restore it.
I did that, and now it won't go past DFU or the apple logo.
I'm deathly confused.
What do?

I have this happen on occasion. What I do (Either wireless sync or cable sync) is look under the apps tab under your device in iTunes. If the app is checked off, uncheck it, sync, check, and then sync. If it is not checked then just check and sync. Hope this helps.

I choose to restore from a safety backup in iTunes. It works ok, but iTunes is still asking to restore the iPhone. Why can't I get to syncronise the phone?
I can't get the menue I am used to in iTunes. It only states "Klargjør iPhone" (Norwegian). Something like "Start up your iPhone". I just restored my iPhone from a backup, and 17 apps couldn't be restored because "the app could not be found." But they're sitting right there in iTunes under Apps. What's up with that?

I backed up phone to iCloud only (not iTunes... yea Im a dummy) and when I restored everything was great except my music and pictures never came back! I did get a fraction of my pictures though... maybe 40 out of 1000. I synced with iTunes and now have my music back but almost no pics.
Shall I just erase all setting/content and try again to restore from iCloud and then sync with iTunes? It just takes so long so I thought I'd ask to see if anyone had a better idea. I miss my pics.... D*mn iCloud

Yes, you can restore from an iCloud backup and sync with iTunes. Probably you won't recover all your photos with iCloud backup because you can only recover photos taken in your iPhone. When you sync your iPhone in iTunes, you will have your music and photos -

Yes, this is activation lock. Return the phone for a refund, as it is useless without the activation information of the previous owner.

Go further down on the same screen and look for more information. (I do not remember the exact words) Upon clicking on it a new page opens in Safari for instructions, including opening Terminal under Utilities, etc. Then you will have to add # and a space to one of the lines. Then save and restart the computer. It worked for me. I am sorry I do not remember the exact sequence of these steps. Hope this helps you.

My iMessage on my iPhone wasn't working, so I turned it off under Settings and then tried to turn it back on again. It hasn't turned back on yet. It says, "waiting for activation.". Any ideas?

From what you describe it sounds like the phone is in recovery mode. Try connecting the phone to the wall charger that it came with, and perform a reset then connect it to iTunes again and try:
Reset
You should reset your device as a last resort and only if you can't restart it.
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

It doesn't matter what it is in your backup that's causing the problem because you can not selectively restore things from your backup. It's all or nothing.
