Bedside mode completely drained fully charged battery

I awoke this morning, waiting for my alarm to go off and low and behold, my brand spanky new Z30 was fully discharged, only the red battery of death symbol would come on.
Bedside mode activated, Hotspot turned off, pretty fancy red clock displayed before i fell to sleep.
Phone was not plugged in but was fully charged before entering bedside mode.
Any support would be greatly appreciated.
I hope this can be rectified as I have used this function with previous BB models and the short charging cable they supplied with the phone will not reach anywhere near my bed.

I like to charge while i am sleeping and use a longer cord ro extension cord to it
it might be that it can only support Video: Up to 12 hours and you reached a limit
My Z10 will only last about 5 hours if that in bedside mode

  • Battery died, wont hold a charge, just died.  Fully charged battery dies in approx 2 hours.  Is it battery gone bad. Or something causing battery to use excessive amount of energy.  Do you lose data if battery goes out?

Battery died, wont hold a charge.  After fully charging battery, battery loses all power in 2 hours. Is this indicative of a battery gone bad or something else?  Will I lose data if battery completely dies?

    Hi, thanks for the reply.
Yes I have done the reset-didn't work.
Yeh, the calibration was done so the phone turned off, then plugged back in to charge back to 100%!
The iphone4s was connected to the charger outlet, the second I unplugged the phone the battery percentage went from 100% to 98%.
AS we speak my phone is now on 100%, after 10 mins usage and 33 minutes standby. This just doesn't correlate with the decrease in battery life associated with every other number (e.g 99,98,97%) apart from when it is on 100%.

  • Update: Video - Canon 6D turns itself off after a few shots with fully charged battery

Update: I uploaded my video to youtube, please comment:
    http://youtu.be/3PNLUYd8g7A
TIA and pardon me for my English.
I posted this originally at another forum, and somebody suggested me to post it here as well, to get more help.
Long story short, I purchased a brand new Canon 6D from B&H on Oct 24th, 2013. From early december, the camera starts to shut itself off randomly and displaying empty battery. I found the camera constantly shuts itself off after 20 - 100 continuous shots with a FULLY charged battery (right off charger, showing 8.23V using multimeter, and showing 98% in battery info).
The camera will just turn itself off in the middle of shooting, showing empty battery int the shoulder window. The solution is simple, open the battery door, then close it again, no need even to pull the battery.
So, I contacted Canon support, sent the camera to the VA service facility, waiting for it be repaired. As an engineer myself, I understand things fail, and I thought this is such an easy issue to reproduce, anybody should be able to repro it.
Couple of days later, I received a phone call to send my accessories in, no problem, debugging needs more info, that's normal. I sent my lens and stuff in. I unfortunately had to bear the cruel fact that I don't have a decent camera for the holiday, though I have a backup.
After a long wait, on 12/28the, the accessories were delivered at 9:35am. At 10am, they called me, they were sending the camera back. No issue at all. I was like, have you tested AT ALL? They didn't care, sending the camera back regardless.
I received the camera on Jan 2nd, and saw the same issue on that day. Of course, it was NOT fixed at all.
I googled really hard, somebody said he had similar issue but it was a defective battery, so I got a brand new Canon battery, unfortunately, the same issue pops up again.
Ok, the only choice for me is to send it back again.  But this time I am totally amazed by Canon.
I sent the camera in again with my lens and battery. Also, a video showing the issue on a standalone CF card (I know 6D does not take CF, just to put the video on it).
Couples of days later, they called asking for accessories, I was like, what accessories, I don't have any more.
Then the camera sit in their facility for a few days for nothing. All of sudden I received a phone call on Monday morning, said it is ready. The camera has no issue at all.
I called, asked whether they have watched the video, they told me two technicians, including a senior one, was not able to upload the video to the computer. I was like, what the hell? why the heck you need to upload it to the computer, find a card reader, plug the card in, double click, how simple is that?
I talked to the service manager over the phone, he told me that there is nothing he could do, if their technician said so. They have decided to send my camera back, NOT fixed, again. I esclated the issue again, but haven't heard anything back yet.
Honestly, I am totally pissed, how stupid can they be? I included a letter with detailed steps on how to reproduce this issue. As an engineer myself, I know how easy to reproduce this issue. But what shocked me is that they don't even know or they didn't even bother to watch the video. In the same letter, I asked/begged them to contact me if they cannot reproduce the issue instead of just sending it back unfixed.
Guys, any other ways to get their attention? I already filed a BBB complaint. For a brand new camera of 3 months old, it has been in Canon's repair shop for almost a month. Leave to say that I missed the most importand holiday season in the year. This is simply not acceptable.

"The camera usually shuts itself off after 20-100 continuous shot, ..."
By this you mean your are in continuous drive? You just hold the shutter release down until it stops shooting?
    "... the shoulder LCD shows a ..."
    What is the "shoulder" LCD?
Sorry for the extra questions but I am trying to understand exactly what you are going through and why Canon said it is OK.
Canon did not say it was all right if it is not.
You are, also saying, if you use the camera, just for a single snap shot, say several in a session, it is OK? Right?
It only shuts down when on continuous drive or video?

  • MP3 Player (Zen Micro)won't recognize fully charged battery and won't recognize compu

    Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for me. I can not download the new firmware until I can get the computer to stay connected to the MP3 Player long enough. The only way I can use the MP3 Player is if it is plugged into the wall. Any ideas of why the MP3 Player will not recognize the fully charged battery?
    Thank you?
    Kukmeri?

Is it possible that your battery might be worn out or defecti've? If a fully charged battery only lasts a very short period, there would either be a problem with the player cutting off at the incorrect voltage or the battery itself is not capable of holding much of a charge.

The fully charged battery symbol shows up (a plug instead of a lightning bolt) when it's actually not fully charged! It also stops charging! How do I fix this?

Did you already try to set it up "as new device" How to back up your data and set up as a new device
If this does not work, try again, this time without using the latest backup, in case it contains corrupt data, causing your problems.

So I would like you to find out.
You do realise you are not talking to Apple here? We are just volunteer users. For the last time, it does not matter what charge the battery has when you buy an iPhone. If you want to believe that iPhones arrive with a 100% charge, you find out if it's true.

  • Why does the iphone4 not hold a fully charged battery overnight?

I charged up the iphone4 to 100% last night; left the phone powered "on" overnight - I have done this every night for the past two weeks.  But, this morning, the iphone4 showed a very low, almost dead battery picture with a thin red line at the end of the battery.  What would cause the fully charged phone to lose all charge overnight, in less than 10 hours?

    Two possibilities:
    1. The charge level indicator needs recalibrating - discharge the battery completely, then charge it fully
    2. Something is running and using power. Restart the phone (Home and Sleep pressed until the Apple logo appears)
There might be a fault with the battery, but these two are more likely

  • Powerbook G4 Dies when unplug AC Adapter Even with fully charged battery

Powerbook G4 dies when running and unplug AC adapter even though have new battery and shows fully 100% charged. Also when shutdown, won't fully start without AC adapter being plugged in. When in sleep mode then can unplug power adapter and be able to wake and run on battery. Have tried resetting power management unit with no success

Hi, Alan, and welcome to Apple Discussions. Some questions for you:
What does System Profiler have to say about your fully-charged new battery's full charge capacity and current capacity?
Have you tested your internal backup battery?
How long can you ordinarily run the Powerbook on a full battery charge, if you unplug the adapter while it's sleeping?
Have you tested the Powerbook using a different, known-good AC adapter to see whether that makes any difference in the PB's behavior when you unplug it?
Is your adapter's plug deformed in any way?
Is the DC-In port on the Powerbook wobbly, i.e. does it move noticeably if you gently push sideways or up and down on the adapter plug when it's connected to the port?

  • Can't start without power plugged in. (w/ fully charged battery)

when I don't have the power connected, my MacBook Pro (Intel core duo) won't boot from the battery. But the battery indicator shows it is fully charged. It's a pretty new battery and power supply too. As soon as I disconnect the power, the MacBook Pro shuts down... The battery is charging, according to the indicator in the menu bar of the desktop.
    Any ideas?

Take it in for repair. The battery may be bad or the charger is bad, or some other related hardware problem.

  • Mountain Lion taking longer to fully charge battery than Lion?

In Lion it took me an hour to fully charge the battery and I had roughly 4-8 hrs of battery. Now in Mountain Lion it takes me 4 hrs to fully charge the battery and it only lasts 4 hrs? Any fix for this? I already tried an SMC reset and it didn't work. Please help. Thanks.

Also, does formatting the ssd of the macbook air and performing a clean install of lion over mountain lion format boot camp partitions too or just the osx partition?

  • Pismo says fully charged battery is 0%, no change

    Hi all,
After sitting a few months with internittent usage my Pismo when turned on now says the battery is at 0%. This is a fully charged newish battery - all four green lights showing - and this happens booted in both OSX and OS9.2.
    Resetting the pmu did nothing.
Power adapter works fine, sometimes the battery shows as being connected and sometimes not.
    Any thoughts?
    TIA
    Elizabeth

    Elizabeth,
If you get the same results when booted in 9.x, chances are it is hardware. Finding another Lombard or Pismo and swapping batteries would be a definitive test and recommended before buying parts.
If batteries will not charge, either the power supply card or the logic board needs replacing. If the powerbook will not run on batteries, the same components are involved.
You might try an Open Firmware reset:
Boot into Open Firmware by holding down the 'Command-Option-O-F' keys from a cold start while the chime is being played. You will see a command-line screen...enter these commands:
    1. At the Open Firmware prompt, type: reset-nvram
    2. Press Return.
    3. At the Open Firmware prompt, type: reset-all
    4. Press Return.
    Example:
    0 > reset-nvram
    Press Return
    0 > reset-all
    Press Return
The reset-all command should cause the computer to restart. If this occurs, you have successfully reset the Open Firmware settings.

  • After Ipod freezes, fully charged battery dies

My iPod has had freezing troubles lately, and I know how to unfreeze it. The problem is that even if it had a full charge, after I unfreeze the iPod, it has no charge, like it has been completely drained.
This iPod is only 3 weeks old, and I am wondering if this is a problem I should address now, and just apply for a new one, or if this is fixable.
Any help would be awesome, thanks!

  • I have a Power Shot SD4500 IS and after battery is fully charged battery runs down without any use.

I have a Power Shot SD4500 IS and after charging battery  then placing in camera and within a day the battery is dead.  I have tried replacing with a new battery and have the same problem.  Any suggestions?
The last time (2 years ago) I had a problem with my previous ELPH I was told it was less expensive to replace the camera than to repair, but after buying 2 in 5 years with limited use, this is getting old.
    HELP

    Pharmboy007,
I would like to ask a couple questions to see if I can determine what is causing the issue.
How long is the camera sitting before you are using it and finding out that the battery is no longer charged?
Does this happen with other batteries, or just the one battery?

  • T41 won't run on AC only or with fully charged battery

I just got a used T41 laptop and have a weird problem.  It runs fine on battery only or with a partially charged battery.  But when I remove the battery and try to run on AC only, I get the "charger removed beep and screen flash warning" over and over again.  The same thing happens when the battery is installed and reaches full charge.  As it approaches full charge, I'll get the warning once in awhile.  But once it reaches full charge, or with the battery removed, it happens intermittently, every few seconds.
If I turn off the "Power Control" alarm in the BIOS, I don't get the beeps but the screen still flashes.  Also, the alarms start before the OS is loaded.  They occur even at the first screen where it allows you to press the IBM Access button.  It seems to be some sort of "over voltage" alarm.  I have Grub installed for dual booting XP and Linux and while Grub menu is displayed and I turn the LCD brightness up and down, the alarm frequency increases as I decrease the brightness.
As it stands, I can only use the computer by unplugging the AC when the battery reaches about 90% charge, running on battery only till it drops to about 20%, and then plugging the AC back in.  Frustrating!!!

Thank you for the information that does me no good at all.  I only paid $75 for the laptop and it will allow me to sell a good working Acer laptop for much more money.  I can put up with the inconvenience with my personal laptop.  In fact, it works quite well with just a 12v battery connected to the AC connector.  With only 12v applied, instead of 16v, the over voltage sensor doesn't kick in.  There are always several approaches to any problem and I was hoping someone here in the forum had one more elegant than mine.  If not, I can live with mine.  No way is replacing the MB a solution.
    Thanks anyway
    Lew

My apps close themselves and my camera wont take pictures  it closes itself as well with a fully charged battery

According to Apple's website you should be getting up to almost 15 hours of playback time from a full charge.  It shouldn't matter whether or not you have the iPod on or off during the charging process.
