Bedside mode not fading

Hi,
BlackBerry OS 10.0.10.85
While charging
The back light won't fade completely on bedside mode
1st: is it normal?
2nd: if so, can I get the back light to fade completely?
Thanks for answering this post.

Yes that is normal. If the phone is plugged in, the screen will only dim, however if it is unplugged, the screen will eventually turn off to preserve battery.

  • Bedside mode not working

    Hi,
Multiple times now I have been woken up by notifications on my phone. This is even though it is in bedside mode when I go to bed.

    Hey macdian,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
What version of BlackBerry 10 software are you running?  This can be found by going into Settings>About.  Also when you place the BlackBerry Z10 into bedside mode, are you also charging the smartphone?
I look forward to your reply.
    Cheers.

  • Bedside mode completely drained fully charged battery

I awoke this morning, waiting for my alarm to go off and low and behold, my brand spanky new Z30 was fully discharged, only the red battery of death symbol would come on.
Bedside mode activated, Hotspot turned off, pretty fancy red clock displayed before i fell to sleep.
Phone was not plugged in but was fully charged before entering bedside mode.
Any support would be greatly appreciated.
I hope this can be rectified as I have used this function with previous BB models and the short charging cable they supplied with the phone will not reach anywhere near my bed.

I like to charge while i am sleeping and use a longer cord ro extension cord to it
it might be that it can only support Video: Up to 12 hours and you reached a limit
My Z10 will only last about 5 hours if that in bedside mode

  • Bedside Mode

I'm enjoying the Q10 but am truly annoyed by some missing features. In my Curve, Tour & Bold over the past 10 years I could set the hours for Bedside mode & coincide with charging. Now I have to remember to do it manually every night. Why was this not included in BB10?! Also, why does the volume stay the same in Bedside as it does in Normal when it appears you can set them separately?!

Perhaps that feature will return, but for now, you do need to touch the Settings > Alarm and swipe down from the top for BedSide mode.
There is a setting within Bedside mode to allow PHONE ONLY while in bedside mode so as to mute all other notifications (like email, SMS, etc). Would that help you?

  • My Z10 automatically goes into bedside mode. Why?

My Z10 keeps going into bedside mode automatically and I keep missing calls and not hearing message alerts or seeing the flashing led . I found a temporary fix by restarting the phone or pulling the battery but it just happens again after several hours. This is getting very annoying! Is there anything that I can do to put an end to this? Or can I remove bedside mode completely? because I don't like it thanks

This just happened to me and more.   It is definitley not BedSide mode .   I know how to use it and do when in Bed .
I just happen to glance at my phone and there was an incoming call with no ring. ( My main volume and ringer volume are on high)   I tried to answer and slide down the screen to answer but it would not answer.  The hang up option was not there. Just he slide down to answer was now at the bottom of my screen.   I tried to phone myself while this was happening and that call would not show  up and on the sending phone it just rang and rang.
I ended up powering down the phone and all is good again.
      Will watch for this again.
I have missed a few calls this week 2 of them I thought I should have heard, now I think it was this issue you mentioned.

  • Bedside Mode stopped working / Clock won't kick in while charging

    Hi,
I recently updated from the earlier factory installed 5.0 version OS to the latest one in my 8530. Every time I connected my BB to my computer the BB manager outputted an immense list of  updates to be done so finally I did.
Now Bedside Mode stopped working automatically. I'll explain, when I plug in my phone for charging the clock will not kick in and start Bedside Mode even though it is selected in the clock options settings. Instead I have to manually start the clock and then select Bedside Mode from the menu.
Basically is not just the Bedside Mode is the clock all together because if I select just  Display Clock the same thing will happen, when I plug in the phone the clock won't kick in.
Meanwhile if I have the phone plugged in and I select Bedside Mode, when I exit the options screen after saving, it will start bedside mode.
And the same thing happens in reverse, if I unplug the phone while in bedside mode, it won't stop, I'll have to manually exit the mode and the clock.
    Any advice?
Did I miss to check something in some other settings screen?
    Can the clock be reinstalled?
Is someone out there with the same problem?
    I need HELP PLEASE!!!

    Hi again
This problem started with an update. I suggest repeating the update:-
This what I did to completely wipe my BB. I wrote this before starting and printed it off.
If your device is functioning, perform a backup now if you haven't already done so saving the file to a place and in a name that you can easily locate on computer.
I then uninstalled DTM and then deleted all other references to BB/Rim in Windows Explorer thus removing the OS for the BB from the computer in order to ensure that the version I would reinstall would be a brand new downloaded version.
Get the latest Desk Top Software
    http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/?CPID=OTC-DSKTPSW&cp=OTC-DSKTPSW
and install it on the computer.
Get the correct latest version of the OS
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    and save it to computer.
To erase all the data on your BlackBerry device, complete the following steps. This option is available with
BlackBerry Device Software 3.8 and later.
    1. In the device Options, click Security.
If you are using BlackBerry Device Software 4.1, click Security Options > General Security.
    2. Click the trackwheel and select Wipe Handheld.
    3. Click Continue.
    4. Type “blackberry”. All the data on the BlackBerry device is erased.
On some new versions of BlackBerry software, the menu navigation is slightly different.
    1. Go to Options.
    2. Select Security Options.
    3. Select General Settings.
    4. Click the Menu key.
    5. Select Wipe Handheld.
    6. Click Continue.
    7. Type “blackberry”. All the data on the BlackBerry device is erased.
Launch the new Desk Top Software on the computer
    1. Connect your device to your computer.
    2. On the home screen of the BlackBerry® Desktop Software, click Update my device.
    3. Do one of the following:
    * To download an update, click Get update.
    * To view other available versions of the BlackBerry Device Software, click View other versions. If applicable, click another version. Click Install.
Ensure the new OS is the one you prevously downloaded.
Do not disconnect the device until the whole process is completed and the device has rebooted.
After 10 minutes reboot again by removing the battery whilst powered-on and leave it out for a couple of minutes.
Leave it again for 10 minutes. You should now have a fully functioning BB!

  • Bedside mode when charging

Is there a way to stop the Z10 going into bedside mode when it is on charge, or otherwise to suppress the no notifications in bedside mode.
I don't charge my phone at night but during the day when I am working, but that means that currently when I'm charging the phone my notification are blocked (not even the red LED flashing)
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The Z10 won't automatically go into bedside mode when charging. It is done manually either from the clock app or with the bed icon at the top of the lock screen.

  • Z10, Alarm and Bedside Mode

Now I've been under the impression that unlike former Blackberry phones the Z10 uses it's Bedside Mode so you can use the Alarm, however I have the problem that the phone despite being in Bedside Mode will turn itself off during the night and thus I don't even hear the alarm. Only reason I've even woken up is my old phone's alarm. So is there something I'm missing or is my phone just messed up?

Z10 Alarm doesn't work when phone is turned off, so I put my phone into bedside mode to charge it overnight. However network provider (so I was told today by mine) push network updates out overnight. Could this cause your phone to reboot etc?
Anyway, if you dont apply the updates your Z10 will slow pushing emails, pulling browser pages, drop calls. If your phone is left on, even in bedside mode, then they wont be received/ applied.
ST options are get a separate alarm or leave Z10 on but (periodically, in the morning) remove battery and SIM, wait, put both back in (Z10 SIM "re-finds" the network, identifies and pulls the required network updates). Did it just now and Z10 a lot happier (probably result in more efficient battery usage also!).
A colleague has an iphone and noted the alarm comes on even when the phone is fully turned off overnight. Time to think about fixing this bug BB - negates the "benefit" of bedside mode cant have phone not performing well because of something like this?

  • No more Bedside mode or themes?

Like the others, I have installed the latest OS version...and now when I plug it in to the wall outlet, it doesn't go into bedside mode automatically (it can be done manually). But it will when I plug it into my PC. And on top of that, no more user created themes work. I use Theme Builder and once I install a theme, the phone will not charge AT ALL. I hope someone from the BB dev team gets us a fix for it soon.

Unfortunately, an old issue.  See this post: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Curve-BlackBerry-8500/Clock/td-p/744365 on Page 2.

  • Automatic bedside mode

    Hi,
is there any way to configure the Z10 to enter automatically into bedside mode at a certain time, and then turning on at another time (i.e. off at 11:00 PM - on at 06.00 AM)?
    Thanks.

  • Bedside Mode Turning Off?

Has anyone had a problem with Bedside Mode turning off sometime in the middle of the night?  This is my second BBZ10 and the first one did not do this.  (I had a battery issue with the first one, so Verizon swapped my entire phone since it had only been a week.)  Everything else seems to work OK, but this is just one kind of frustrating issue.
Thanks for any thoughts or commiseration!

Look at the free memory; I've written on this here -- the unit is likely running out of free RAM and watchdog-restarting, which beats a hang.
It's a problem that Blackberry needs to find and fix, but you can defend against it to some degree by looking at free RAM before you retire and if its low (under 800MB or so) and/or you have a large number of backgrounded apps running, reboot the phone.  Yeah, you shouldn't have to and Blackberry ought to make fixing this a priority.
I've yet to have an overnight blowup.

  • Bedside Mode. I think my perception & RIMs intentions differ.

Hi BB Forum.  New here so fogive any missed previous posts.
Here's what I'd like Bedside Mode to do.
Plugged into an AC Charger, stay in low light, Alarm on even when fully charged & display clock.
Clearly, no message alerts or ring tones on.
What it does is display turns off when fully charged thereby loosing the ability to see the time.
Alternately, we could try a Bedside Mode where it is not on the AC or USB Charger but I'd still like the clock to display all night & no message alerts or ring tones.

Thanks for the reply, been there, and it is set to off as it say it should be.  As of this morning, the bedside mode was turned on ( as Ive done for months) and this morning it wasnt even on, so it seems like it turns itself off.   Any new thoughts?  Im lost.   Ive also removed the battery and reinstalled,  worked at first but not a permanent fix.

  • My Torch 9850 locked up at 3AM in bedside mode this AM.

I noticed around 5AM that my clock was stopped at 3AM. I removed it from the cradle and nothing would respond. I removed the battery and rebooted and all went back to what it was before lock up. Now I notice on FB notices used to be in BOLD type, now every new notice the window is a pale yellow as it is on unread posts in here. Anyone else getting this?
THE BITTERNESS OF POOR QUALITY, LINGERS LONG AFTER THE CHEAPNESS OF PRICE, IS SOON FORGOTTEN.

    Hey LCromwell,
    Thanks for the post.
If you logout from the Facebook for BlackBerry application and log back in, do the notices still appear not as bold font?  Also after you did the battery reset, have you had any other issues with bedside mode freezing in the middle of the night?
I look forward to your reply.
    Cheers.
