Been told to restore my iphone 3g but what about contacts, cal and apps?
I am really nervous about this and worried. mynetwork operator has advised I need to restore my iphone using itunes, due to not being able to make calls on my phone.
anyway, I am really worried about losing my contacts, calendar and any Apps I have purchased too.
any ideas on these concerns? definately need a fool proof way of making sure I restore my contacts and calendar etc.
then what about the apps? I paid for them? if I remove them, what happens, do I have to purchase them again?
You should be syncing regularly with your computer, so all of these things should be on your computer. You can simply sync them back to your iphone.

I just restored my iphone 4 but it won't leave the page asking me to restore it! Help please!
I just completely restored my iphone 4 but when I connect it to my laptop to manage my iphone and everything on it and sync it like usual, it only goes back to the page saying "Welcome to your new iphone! Would you like to set up your iphone as a new i phone or restore your information from a previous backup?", then gives me those 2 options. Why won't it go to any other step/page for me to sync or manage everything I have on it?! I even tried restoring it again to see if anything changes, but it just wont get past asking me to restore it! How do I get to the main page for my device???
This commonly happens when a phone has been hacked to unlock the phone from a specific arrier or the phone has been jailbroken. If your phone is in either of these categories you will have to look elsewhere for assistance.

With AT&T, the limit is 40 messages at 4 minutes per message.

When iOS 6.0 updating my iPhone and connecting my iPhone to iTunes the only option I have, is to restore my iPhone. But ufortunately, I did not back up my iPhone before the updating. Is there any way I can avoid the restoring process?
Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...
To minimise loss... Connect to iTunes on the computer you Usually Sync with and Restore from the most recent Backup...

You may need to restore the iPhone while it is in what's called 'recovery mode.'

I go to restore my iPhone 4 but it stops before it can do anything and says an error message. I looked up the error code on Apple but I dont understand what it means. Here is the message it says:

I looked up 1611 and it says a bunch of random things that have nothing to do with my problem.

Trying to restore my iphone 5c, but it says i have to turn off the 'find my phone' option in icloud. when i try, it brings up the wrong apple id. I reset it under itunes & app store in settings but still not working...frustrated!
Open iTunes on computer, connect iPhone to computer with USB Cable, hold both home and power buttons for about 20 seconds until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode, click Restore button of iTunes on computer.

ChrisJ4203, thanks very much for your input. I don't mean to turn this post into an endless debate, but frankly I am still having a hard time believing that the WiFi died as a result of a hardware failure.
My logic might be flawed, but here it is:
While the iPhone 4S got very hot when wirelessly downloading and installing iOS 7.0.4 over the WiFi network, the WiFi chip and antenna had to be functional to complete the wireless iOS update. Apple was very clear that iOS 7.0.4 is too large to download and install via cellular service. Accordingly it would appear that any hardware failure had to occur in the few minutes between the download/installation of iOS 7.0.4 and its first use. That window of opportunity is incredibly small in an otherwise flawless hardware performance. I am not a big believer in long shot coincidences, so a WiFi hardware malfunction seems highly improbable to me, but not impossible. A firmware/iOS conflict still seems more plausible to me.
I also don't read much into Apple's "out-of-warranty" replacement offer at $199. AT&T tells me that anyone walking in off the street (with or without a hardware or iOS malfunction) would receive the same offer.
I appreciate that some iPhone 4S users did not experience any WiFi issues when they updated to iOS 7.0.4, but such difference could easily be explained if Apple used more than one WiFi chip and/or firmware in the iPhone 4S series. Such an explanation would also account for iOS 7.0.4 (and 7.0.6) not recognizing the WiFi chip after the iOS update.
Still perplexed, but thanks again for your kind efforts to help.
Wonder if I can limp along long enough to spend my money on an Apple iPhone 6 ... but then again I don't want to be anyone's beta-tester.
I am tempted to switch to a Samsung Galaxy or some other smartphone as long as I will be buying new accessories, but frankly I don't want to waste my time learning a new OS or core apps. -

Possibly something is blocking Apple through iTunes from approving your iPhone Restore. Sometimes this is due to your computer Hosts File redirecting your request away from Apple. Seach your computer for Hosts, open this file with Word Processor program. If there is any reference to gs.apple.com this is the problem. This name and the number with it needs to be removed.
