I have been using Lightroom 5.6 for weeks. Today I went to open a catalog and I got the message "assertion failure". I have gone through Adobe's posted fix for this, the Pictures folder is linked to My Pictures folder. Still no luck, in fact Light room will not open at all. I get the name of the catalog, I tried to open earlier, across my screen and the message "assertion failure". I am running Windows 7. Does anyone know of a fix for this??

Lightroom stopped running on Vista 32 windows error message says "Lightroom has stopped running windows is searching for a solution to the problem"...Also some RAW images opened in CS2, Bridge or Lightroom have bands of different colors depending on the image and are unusable. At the same time Lightroom works fine on my laptop running Vista 32.

Are you looking at the images at 100% resolution? Banding can appear in other enlargements due to rounding errors.

I just used a firewire connection to transfer files from an older MAC to a newer MAC. My newer MAC has lost all that was on it, and all the applications are opening like they have never been used before and asking for Rosetta. Help!!!

IGNORE the last post: he thought you are using Lion or Mountain Lion.
Since you are using Snow Leopard, you need to install Rosetta. It can be found on your Snow Leopard Install DVD in the Options section.
Once installed all should be well again.
Also, if your computer is connected to the internet when the Dialog Box about PowerPC applications comes up, it MIGHT allow you to download Rosetta from the internet. There has been some discussion that Apple has discontined internet download of Rosetta into Snow Leopard.
Someone else will have to address your lost files problem.

Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.

2 days ago my FF3.6.3 started becoming extremely slow/delayed on EVERYTHING/ALL ACTIONS (I have been using 3.6.3 for a few months with NO problems, until 2 days ago). Scrolling going in delayed/slow/jerky 'waves' motion (not smooth & fast), Right-click box very delayed/hangs in coming up, Text typing lagging/intermittent, activity extremely slow/delayed when pointing mouse over anything, changing from tab to tap extremely slow. Bascially EVERYTHING has become sooo slow, delayed, lagging etc. I have tried ALL possible checks (extensions, add-ons, plug-ins, download history, cache, cookies) & viewed nearly ALL the FF help sites. I've personally not seen this behaviour since Firefox version 2. It however re-appeared for me in 3.6.6 and 3.6.7 (current) and it's bloody awful. Makes everything I do take 50% longer ..... great for efficiency in the modern world.
This 3.6 branch is so riddle with flaws which seem never to be fixed. Each fix / update brings with it more problems ... worst of all I see version 4 is already in development but they cannot even get 3.6 right ??? WTF ????
Mozilla must stop chasing version numbers as has become the trend in the software world. Fix an existing version to perfection then start working on a new branch of the product.

If you are backing up to your computer, check in iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices, if there is more than your recent iPhone 6 backup listed. If yes, transfer the photos from your phone to the computer first, then restore from the backup. After that, transfer the recovered photos again to your computer and sync all of the transferred pictures to your phone, using iTunes and the settings in the photo pane.

Thanks for the response. The application was crashing. A Windows message was displayed showing "Lightroom.exe has stopped working", "Windows can check online for a solution the problem.". Etc.
I just launched Lightroom to check the exact message for this reply - and the Import worked. It had failed dozens of times before.

Exactly how are you trying to open them (what menu command or button or mouse action or keyboard shortcut)?

Because of the difference between the Camera raw version available to her in Photoshop CS5 and the raw process in Lightroom 4, she has been exporting her raw images from Lightroom and choosing the "Render using Lightroom option when it popped up in the dialogue box. She has been doing this for over a year and a half without any problem. Today when she hit Command E no dialogue box appeared and the image just opened in Photoshop. I'm concerned that all of her Lightroom edits are not being rendered to Photoshop. Anyone have an idea as to how we can get the "Render using Lightroom" dialogue back?

Lightroom 5 is supported in Windows 7 or newer. You will be able to use Lightroom Mobile on the iPad, but Lightroom Mobile is not yet supported on Android devices. That support is suspected to be added sometime in the future. Also, take note that you must have a creative cloud account in order to use Lightroom mobile.

I've been using a master password for years. I also use Sync. Today I wanted to look up one of my saved passwords. When I went to do this I noticed that Firefox was no longer set to use a master password. I'm afraid that I may have been hacked, or that something else happened (recent Firefox update?) that caused the use of the master password to be disabled.
I have not yet checked my other Synced computers to see if their master passwords have also been turned off.
I have re-enabled the master password feature on this computer.
On this particular computer, I've had a long-standing issue where Firefox "Help>About Firefox" always shows that I need to "Restart to Update". This means that I cannot use "Help>About Firefox" to check for and install the latest version. I need to download Firefox manually and update by running the installer.

If you would like to take a listing of the add-ons, changed preferences/settings etc. to quickly replicate the previous profile, please '''Copy all to clipboard''' (on the left of the reset button), and paste it into MS Office Excel, or OpenOffice/LibreOffice Calc, or notepad. For the update error, please try searching for all instances of '''updates.xml''', open the containing folder to make sure it belongs to Firefox/Mozilla (path) and delete all instances of the file along with the '''updates''' folder.
