Beeping iPod

I took my iPod Nano 4th Gen with me while running yesterday and it wouldn't turn on. At first, I just assumed dead battery, but it's been charging for hours now and still won't start. Whenever I try to reset it, it beeps a couple times, but nothing else happens. What does this beeping mean? What do I have to do? Please help me!

  • Beeping Ipod with black screen

After a run at the weekend my Nano has been acting up.
I am unable to get any images on the screen (the screen is black) and the iPod has started beeping when I try and reset it. The iPod is still registering with iTunes and my run has been logged with Nike+ (aside from the beeping the iPod is still making the clicking noises, like when the volume is adjusted)
I have had the iPod now for over a year and therefore the warranty has expired, so I was hoping one of you would be able to help me sort out this problem.

I seem to have the same. I've successfully reset the iPod and synced to the computer...battery indicates fully charged on the device manager but screen is still black and when I try the 5R's all I get is a two beep series....any help available?

  • My classic 80GB ipod wont turn on, wont restore, it says it may be corrupted and all it does is constantly beep when I attach to my laptop! Windows Vista, 32bit, new version of itunes, etc.. WHAT the ****!? What do I do!?

My 80gb ipod classic is dead! It wont power on, it wont restore, it constantly beeps and shows the apple logo then my laptop says ipod in recovery mode, may have to restore. I read all the other problems and they are similar to mine but have not found anyone saying the screen does not power on except to show logo and do not disconnect. The annoying beeping sound stops after a while, then absolutely nothing! Is the battery removable, what do I do?

I did that and then tried to log onto the Itunes again and a prompt came up and siad the Itunes file wasn't properly installed and it might be corrupted and I should retry it again.
Let's try a repair install of iTunes.
    Restart the PC first.
If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair".
If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", and click "Change". Select "Repair" and click "Next" as per the following screenshot:

  • Ipod 3rd generation makes beeping noise continuously + will not sync computer does not recognize ipod

touch screen doesn't work. the slider to unlock it won't move. it makes a beeping sound. then it displays a "now syncing" type of symbol on the front.

    Sound like two separate problems.

Regarding the not-recognized-not-synced part, make sure you restart your iPod:

  • Beeps when connecting iPod to A/V adapter

    Hello,
I have a PXP01 from Peripheral Electronics. Whenever I plug my iPod into the dock connector, my iPod beeps twice.
Is his normal. I have never used a dock before.
    Thanks.

Since you are using a 3rd party product you may be better off finding out more about the product in question. The beep you hear may occur because of the A/V adapter and not be a defect or warning at all. If it's something that is truly concerning you then you may want to try contacting your local Apple store or contacting Apple Tech Support....but you may be told to check with the manufacturer of the adapter anyway.

  • IPod classic alarm doesn't 'beep'

    manual reads
"Choose a sound Choose Tones or a playlist. If you choose Tones, select Beep to hear the alarm through the internal speaker. If you choose a playlist,
you’ll need to connect iPod classic to speakers or headphones to
    hear the alarm."
I select Tones, then Beep, and the iPod comes on with a notification when the alarm time comes up, but no 'beep'.
    Running firmware 1.0.1
    Anyone else having this problem?

A restore (with upgrade to firmware 1.0.2) fixed the problem.
One note, I had used carbon copy cloner to backup my ipod first, but upon restoring my backup, the alarm stopped beeping).
Restored again, and manually copied my music and files, and all is good.

  • Ipod Mini Beeping, folder icon, battery icon, doesn't work

  • IPod beeps twice, black screen.

I was using my iPod (3rd generation nano) the other day and it was working fine. The battery ran out.
I plugged it in and it beeped twice. The screen did not turn on. The click-wheel works. I can navigate (blindly) to a song and it will play normally.
I toggled the hold button on-then back off.
I've reset the iPod by holding menu-select for eight seconds and follow the iTunes instructions.
I've also restored the iPod using iTunes.
If I hold the iPod close to my ear, I hear a faint buzzing sound.
The iPod continues to beep periodically as it charges (two beeps every two-three minutes). iTunes reloads each time.
I can't turn the iPod off.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Does anyone know of a possible solution?
    Please help.
    I am running iTunes 9.2 (61) on OS 10.4.11.

i have the same problem, it beeps if i connect it to my itunes or my ipod speakers it beeps couple of times, if i press play then it plays music but if i don't it keeps beeping. the screen is just black all the time. i really need help fixing this!!

  • Why is ipod mini beeping?

I have had my ipod mini now for about 2 years. Just this year for some reason it started to beep. Does anyone else's ipod mini beep? It also gives off this sound of the hard drive working. Can anyone help me with my situation. Now I can no longer update songs or anything on my ipod and I've tried restoring it about 3 times.

  • IPod beeping and then freezing up

I have an iPod mini (2nd generation). When I try to download songs from iTunes my iPod will suddenly start beeping (4 beeps decreasing in pitch, then repeats the fourth beep twice) and then it freezes-up iTunes. If I force quit iTunes, then neither iTunes or my computer recognizes the iPod. I usually get the sad or unhappy iPod icon on the iPod screen, but if it is still plugged into the computer I can also get the monochrome non-animated version of the battery icon. Once I go the folder icon with an exclamation point. My battery is fully charged. If I wait several hours I can reset my iPod, hook it to the computer and maybe get several dozen songs downloaded before the iPod starts beeping begins and then whole thing freezes up again.

    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Turning ipod shuffle on, it sounds three beeps and thats it.

Turning on ipod shuffle, 4 gen., it sounds three beeps, that's it. nothing else happens.

    JDee -
It does seem I was prematurely expecting a logic board failure - guess it's the bad side of my 'hope for the best, prepare for the worst' philosophy.
I followed the instructions you linked to and removed the RAM module (I only have a 1GB one) from the lower slot and placed it into the upper slot and booted up the PB. And voilá - I got the chime and it booted up just fine (actually, a bit quicker than it used to...). So i decided to back up all my data (as it was a month or so since the last one) before the next step - shutting down, opening the memory access panel, and shifted the module back to the lower slot, while making sure it was pressed in firmly. And it worked.
So it seems all that happened was that the RAM module got loose - which would make sense as the problem occurred shortly after i moved my laptop downstairs to write some emails while watching the telly (TV).
Now I'll wait for a few days to see if everything has sorted itself out (just to be on the safe side), and then think about adding that second 1GB memory module i've been thinking about for some time...
Thanks for the advise and the cool head!
    Cheers,
    Mika

any suggestion welcome and deelpy appreciated
    thank you from clairebear
ps the ipod says software version 4.2.1

You can't sync without a backup taken.
Try to delete the ipod backup, it seems that iTunes can't read it anymore. Before you do, make sure to back up the folder, in case you need it again.
The folder where your backup data is stored changes depending on the computer's operating system. Since iTunes only keeps one backup per device, you should ensure the backup folder is included in your periodic data backup routine.
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: If you do not see the AppData or Application Data folders, you may need to show hidden files (Windows XP,  Windows Vista and Windows 7), or iTunes may not be installed in the default location. Show hidden files and then search the hard drive for the Backup directory.
    copied from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
After you backed up the folder, delete the backup from the list in iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices.
    Then try again to sync.
