Before buying questions

How well will "go to my pc type apps" work with a iPad?
1) Will they work with media? an I see a flash image (audio & Video) on my Mac on my iPad? - Other media on my Mac like Quicktime etc?
2) I presume I can use my Mac's HTML files and FTP software remotely - Yes?
3) Any limitations that I should know of in *making my iPad be my Mac at home*.
Finally,
4) How does one deal with rebooting my Mac (modem?) in case of a power failure if away for a period of time.
Thanks
-Sandy

1) Will they work with media? an I see a flash image (audio & Video) on my Mac on my iPad? - Other media on my Mac like Quicktime etc?
The iPad doesn't do flash. I have no problem viewing movies/tv shows from my Plex-MacMini. Other video on the web (not flash) has no problems.
2) I presume I can use my Mac's HTML files and FTP software remotely - Yes?
I'm not sure what you mean here. There are apps for the iPad that connect remotely to a mac, and that form a connection from the mac to specific apps on the iPad. The iPad doesn't have a traditional folder structure. Each app retains its own data files. If you have a pdf file that you sync to the iPad, it goes to one specific app. Some apps let you open a file of theirs in another app, but that means you get a copy of the file sent to the second app and stored there. What do you mean by using your mac's HTML files?
3) Any limitations that I should know of in making my iPad be my Mac at home.
With no other computers at home? It can be done, but if you plan to do work in the iPad (word processing, spreadsheets, etc.) it's not as comfortable as using a real computer. For surfing, email, viewing stuff, then yes, it's great for that.
Finally,
4) How does one deal with rebooting my Mac (modem?) in case of a power failure if away for a period of time.
That is a problem.

Can i use the eprint function for that?
the aim is that every visitor of my website can send a contact mail, and i need a automatic print of all that mails.
So the consumers will NOT have eprint app installed.
    is it possible?

  • Questions before buying (T440s)

    Hello,
Just a few questions before buying a T440S.
    When configuring a T440S on Lenovo http://shop.lenovo.com I have 2 option for screen :
    - full HD (1920 x 1080)
    - HD+ (1600 x 900) - the default opton selected
Which option is better ? I'm lost because the resolution is better for the 1st one but the price is less expensive ("remove 3,24€"). That's not for the difference of price but therefore it seems that option 2 is better than option 1.
Is an IPS screen for both ?
I'm located in France, and I have thos options for 3G (mobile) :
    - none
    - pre-cabled for 3G module installation (not provided)
    - Module 3G/HSPA+ integrated (Ericsson N5321)
Does this last one compatible with French 4G (Orange or SFR) ? Otherwide, should I choose option 2 and buy a dedicated 3G/4G module elsewhere ? Which one ?
Finaly, I currently own a Dell E6400 with a  (port replicator E/PLUS ADVANCED). Which dock should I order in Lenovo accessories to have the same functionalities ?
    Thanks for your help
    F.

A bit late answer, so maybe you already bought your laptop.
Here in the northern Europe, the Lenovo official website only offers the Ericsson 3G module, but the official Lenovo vendors offer models with a built-in 4G/LTE module, and I'm pretty sure they also exist in the Lenovo TABOOK-pdf catalog.
Regarding the docks, one major difference is the video connections - Basic dock has only VGA, Pro dock has 1 DisplayPort and Ultra dock has 2 DisplayPorts.

  • H57M-ED65 - questions before buy

    Hi
I have a few questions about this board before buying it:
    1) Does the board support IGP under(/over)clocking? If not, is there a BIOS update planned and when?
    2) How far down can the CPU be undervolted? (my i3 530 goes to 0.825V @2GHz on another MB)
    3) Is there a block diagram available for all the different components on the board (like where and how the JMB363, VT6315, RTL8111BL... are connected)?

With the MB being so new there also are not many users that would be able to answer any of those questions especially the last one. As far as I know the GPU itself can be OC'd but I don't know if on that particular MB. I don't even know for sure if it can be done on my H55-GD65 because I'm still nearly a week away from have a memory kit for it.

  • I need to make sure of some stuff before buying...

Okay. Well. The main reason for me posting this topic is that I am planning on buying a MacBook Pro in a few weeks, and I was planning on buying a router to have my wireless internet, of course. However, with learning of the Airport Extreme, I was thinking buying this instead. However, I really need to know what I'm buying before doing so. I don't want to be disappointed in buying this.
    So, with that being said:
    1. With buying my mac, I will now have a computer to myself and so will my sister. We need to be able to be on the internet at the same time. She will be running a PC, a Windows XP, and I will have a MacBook Pro. I need to know if I will be able to run internet on both computers through the Airport Extreme Base Station and be able to ACCESS it at the same time. No interferences and such.
    2. I need to know if my internet WILL sync with this base station. I have a broadband connection right now, through Hughes Net. It has an Ethernet cable, but on the specifications of the Airport Extreme, it said that some ISPs may not sync with it. What can I do to make sure it'll work?
    3. With my Hughes Net, there is a thing that comes with it for everything to be plugged into. It has a few cables, the power cable, and then the ethernet cable. It is NOT router. But I dno't know what else to call it. Would I keep the ethernet cable in the back of this thing, and then plug it into the Airport Extreme Base Station, and then would it give internet to both computers?
Please, I really need to know the answers to these questions before buying it. If you have anything else to add about the two computers with the internet, pleaseplease add. Thank you to anyone who replies.

    1. As long as you don't change anything in the Airport base station's configuration while it's in use it shouldn't be a problem. If you change anything configuration-wise it will need to reboot so anyone using it will lose connection for 20-30 seconds.
    2. Most ISPs will work, they would have to have a pretty strange setup to not work with Apple's base stations. I think they are just covering their butts in case of some really odd thing that keeps it from working.
    3. Your Cable/DLS modem (whichever you've got) is probably the box with everything plugged into it. You want to plug the ethernet cable coming out of it into the WAN port on your base station. It will either say WAN or some access points use an icon that is a bunch of lines arranged in a circular pattern (think of a typical children's drawing of a sun with the sun "beams" coming out as lines coming from the sun), whereas the Ethernet ports would be labeled as LAN or with an icon with two arrows. BTW when you plug the bas station into your Cable/DSL modem you'll want to power down the modem (just unplug the power from the wall) then plug in the base station with the base station turned on, then plug the modem back in. Sometimes these modems will "remember" the last device they were plugged into and will only work with that device until they get power cycled.

  • Before Buying ...

Before buying the iPad Mini to replace my Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, I have two questions:
    1. Can a WiFi/Cellular model be bought without selecting a carrier? I live in the US and in Europe (more or less 30/70). I would like to be able to use the iPad without any preconfiguration by the carrier like I have with my iPhone 5.
    2. When will Swype be supported by iOS. I will not give up my Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 until I know I will be able to use my favorite input method on the replacement device. I've tried TouchPal with my iPhone. It's okay but I am underwhelmed compared to my experience with using Swype on my Tab.
    Thank you and best regards,
    BK Terhune

Most cases you don't have to take the iPod out of it in order to use the clickwheel. But if you want a really tough case which will pretty much handle anything I would recommend these:

  • How can I try non free apps before buy them?

Well the question is simple: How can I try non free apps before buy them?
    thanks

That's why some developers offer a free "light" version after which you then either buy a full version or add features via an in-app purchase. But if the developer doesn't offer such a limited version, then there is no way to try an app before paying for it, and no refunds unless the app is defective or falsely advertised.
    Regards.

  • Breaking the trend : help before buying...

    Hey guys,
I am so glad that I decided to do some reading up before buying my new computer.
It is my first upgrade in years, and last time I just bought a package and never put it together myself. So yes, I am a newbie, tho I have spent awhile reading up stuff on the net regarding what I want.
I live in Hong Kong, so certain brands availble to you lot are not availble to me.
However, I have decided to get the K7N2 Delta-L. One reason - it looks fantastic. Another reason - the price is very good and acceptable to me. There are many who say this board is great, other saying it is a loss cause. I am willing to take my chances here.
    Anyways, I should stop talking.
Here are the specs I have planned to buy next week.
    MSI K7N2-L Delta
    Corsair TwinX CMX512-3200LL (256 X 2)
    Western Digital  80GB / 7200rpm /UDMA100
    SamSung CDRW522452 Internal  52x / 24x / 52x  (8mb)
    SamSung DVD-ROM 16X
    Aero 7+ (CPU FAN)
    ATHLON XP 1700+ (0.13) (TRAY) SOCKET-A / 1467MHz / 256KB (Already bought)
Sapphire ATI 9700 pro (Already bought)
So the main problem that I have after readin this board is the ram. I am totally confused. Some people say a certain memory works, some say it doesn't. Now I am willing to shell out the bucks, but I just don't want a nightmare after I buy the stuff. I don't think I'll handle the computer rage very well.
Oh and another thing, I don't have all the brands availble to me here like I said earlier. However, the company that I am gonna buy it from has a webpage to state thier products.
Herez a link to their ram section
    http://www.jumbo-computer.com/ram_c.asp
Well, I am really hoping that the tech greats here could give me a hand and guide me through this buying process. And perhaps even enlighten me on any faults or incompatibilities I may have in my specs. Thanks alot!
    Your words are wisdom.
    Inkubus

hmm, yeh, I plan to buy Audigy 2 probably a couple of months down when I have some more cash. Plus I asked around and we don't get the ILSR model here. SUX Eh?
But is there something horrible wrong with the k7n2 delta-L's onboard audio??
As for the PSU, I plan to use the one that will come with my new case, till I get money to buy an Enermax or something along those lines..
My case is going to be an ICute model and it comes with a GTR model 350 watts PSU. Those brands probably mean nothing to you as they are Hong Kong based.
Herez a pic of my case (just for amusement)
    http://www.gtr.com.hk/new-subpage/product/case_main/icute/sub_page/0301/0301.htm
    Thanx for your reply.

  • HT2589 How to set a password before buying an app

How to set a password before buying an app

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico my first language is Spanish. I do not speak English, however I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
Try to buy an app and you will be presented with a screen to create an iTunes/Mac App Store account if you have never created one. If you have an iTunes account, sign into the Mac App Store with the same username and password.

  • Need advice before buying MBP please!!

Hi everyone, sorry this is AGAIN a "need help before buying" post.
I'm basically looking to buy a MBP for movie production : I will do data transfer (footage into USB3 to TB2 drives/USB3 drives).
And maybe some playback of very large 4K video files.
I was looking at a few options :
First of all I missed my chance and saw a rMBP 15inch 2.4ghz(ish) for 1900 (canadian) and didn't order it.
I've got my eyes on either another rMBP which is a 2.7 with Geforce 650M (june 2012) for 2400$ or a brand new one with maybe 2.5ghz for 2200$.
Your advices on these models? Is the Iris Pro GPU good enough? Is 2.2ghz enough for my tasks?
    Thanks soooo much!!

    Hi pbearr,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I’m glad to hear that you are in the market for a new Mac! I wanted to chime in here and make a quick comment about 4K video support. Are you planning on purchasing an external 4K monitor? If so, keep in mind that a 2012 MacBook Pro with Retina Display does not support 4K video. To learn more, please check out this resource:
Using 4K displays and Ultra HD TVs with Mac computers - Apple Support
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202856
You can use 4K displays and Ultra HD TVs with these Mac computers.
MacBook Pro (Retina, Late 2013 and later)
    Mac Pro (Late 2013)
iMac (27-inch, Late 2013 and later)
    Mac mini (Late 2014)
Every user, task, and configuration is different. I wish you all of the luck in determining which Mac is the best for you!

is my iMac now useless as i have installed lion and i am no longer able to run cs2 photoshop and illustrator as this is all i use my mac for they should make this clear before buying it i can't afford the latest version of cs2 and cant believe what a waste of money it is.

The newest version of CS2 is CS5. And it was made very clear that these applications would not run in Lion. Not only by Apple, but on all sorts of communities and websites. It has been a long time coming - PowerPC apps were outdated six years ago. Lion does not support Rosetta, and therefore not PPC apps.
you have to options. Go back to Snow Leopard or upgrade your software. (MS Office 2004 and older will not run either).
    Cheers

  • IPad mini 2 in January? I better wait before buying one...

With the rate of renewing that Apple does, I better wait before buying the iPad mini. Maybe the next one will already be in a couple of months!

Maybe it will, maybe it won't.
There is always something better on the horizon, no matter what product you buy, or who from.
If you are always waiting for the best, you'll never buy anything.

Really depends on what MacBook revision you have. It is supported since GMA 950, but it will be slow. Be sure to have AT LEAST 2 GB RAM.
