Before Firefox opens the User account control comes up and asks: Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer? Must hit yes for Firefox to open. This happens every time and adjusting the level of notification does not help.

It started happening after a recent update from both windows and firefox

Thanks for the help I'll keep the info just in case - but I got so frustrated that I just deleted the program and then re downloaded the current version now everything works fine.

  • How to I get rid of pop up user account control "do you want to allow the following program to make changes to your computer" I have windows 7 professional.

I keep getting an annoying pop up the says "User Account Control" "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to your computer"
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== Two days after I downloaded Firefox and set as my default browser.

Check that you do not run Firefox as Administrator.
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
In the Compatibility tab, make sure that Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" is not selected.
You also need to check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program directory.
If you can't make the changes then you need to start Windows Explorer as Administrator.

None of that worked for me. And I don't think disabling UAC is a good idea at least if it's a work computer rather than my own.

  • TS3212 User Account control is asking me " Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer? then it asks me to type an administrator password - ?

What Username and password is the User Account Control program asking for to complete the 10.7 download on my PC? It asks do you want to allow he following program to make changes to your computer.

The updated version of iTunes is a change to your computer, and the computer is trying to protect itself against unauthorised changes that could damage it (in other words, hacking, trojans, viruses etc.).
On your computer, you are using a User Account; imagine that it's your part of the computer. Each user on the computer is either an administrator (who can make changes) or a non-adminstrator (who cannot make changes) to the computer itself.
Do other people use the computer as well, such as your parents, who may have restricted your ability to change programmes on the computer?
Or is the computer at, and owned by, your school, or in an office? If so, their computer department has created an account on the computer for you to use, but not change.
In either of the above scenarios, your account will be a non-administrator account. If it's your parents' machine, perhaps they have an administrator's account.
If you are the only user of the computer, or there is only the one account on it, then presumably, the administrator password is one that you have set up.

  • WWhy does User Account Control come upwhen I click on Firefox logo?

I have Windows 7. For the past 2 weeks when I go to Firefox on my window the User Account Control comes up and asks "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?"
I say yes. This happens every time I click on to Firefox logo. How can I avoid this fom happening?

Hi zamler, sorry for the unrelated reply.
I'm not sure what causes that...
If you right-click the icon > Properties > Compatibility tab, can you make sure that "Run this program as an administrator" is not checked?

  • How do I rid the User Account Control - "Do you want the following program to make changes to this computer?" - FireFox Helper pop-up that shows after every log in?

The following pop-up is displayed after every log-in, even after it is clicked yes after previous log-ins. Several students log-in the computers daily. How do I rid THIS?:

In Windows 7, Microsoft updated UAC in several ways. By default, UAC does not prompt when certain programs included with Windows make changes requiring elevated permissions. Other programs still trigger a UAC prompt. The strictness of UAC can be changed to either always prompt, or to never do so.

  • Everytime I open firefox the user account control of Windows7 comes and asks if I agree that Firefox changes something in my computer.

I had problems accessing the personal server of our progammer.
He recommended me to try his url in privacy mode of firefox. That did not work either. But since then I get a message from the user account control in Windows7 asking me whether firefox can change a program in my computer. I answer yes and the message disappears. But the message keeps coming everytime I enter firefox. I also happens when I have changed back to non-privacy mode. It also keeps happening when I change the user account settings to not remembering anything

I just had that problem today and although it unfortunately probably won't help you minus47, (as you said disabling your Add-ons didn't help) I tracked my problem down to 'Fierr' as the culprit and disabling it fixed it.
To be honest I don't know why as 'Fierr' hasn't been updated since January '11 and Firefox only started playing up today.
The only other thing I updated today was Flash Player but I'm not sure if I installed it before it started playing up though.
Hopefully this might help someone else.

  • The past few days every time I open firefox I get the windows' "do you want this program to make changes to your computer..."

    Hello
I would be so grateful to know how to fix t his, because it's really getting on my nerves.
I have windows 7 pro 64 bit. I mostly always use firefox. Whenever i opened a new browser, I never got hit with the windows badge and "Do you want this program to make changes to your computer...." or something to that effect. YOu who have windows 7 know what I mean. Of course I click yes, but I NEVER had to do this before. I don't know what changed, what might have happened. I had to have help with some software unrelated to firefox and someone had remote work on my notebook, but he should not have changed browser settings. It is really irritating me to now end to always open the browser now and have to hear that annoying thing and the badge.
My other browsers IE and chrome do not do this.
How can I fix this? It was never the case before for years.
thanks I am grateful in advance. I can't use this browser if this s going to happen it gets on my nerves.

    You're welcome.

  • I would like to know why I have to go through the User Account Control every time I try to open a document

Actually the question speaks for itself.every time I try to do something I get the User Account Control asking permission to open the filewith Adobe Acrobat. I'm logged in as an administrator so it shouldn't be a problem

    Hey dennisl37605729,
Could you please let me know what version of Acrobat and OS are you using.
There might be a chance that you do not have access to specific folders on your system. So try this:
Right-click on the Acrobat icon and choose 'Run as administrator' option from the context menu.
Let me know if this helps.
    Regards,

  • When I open firefox, a pop up window asks "do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer? How can I get rid of this pop-up window ?

Every time I open the browser, a pop-up window asks "Do you want the following program to make changes to this computer?"
It is unnecessary and annoying to have to click "yes" each time.
How can I get this pop-up window to stop?

Thanks for the help I'll keep the info just in case - but I got so frustrated that I just deleted the program and then re downloaded the current version now everything works fine.

  • Every time I try to log on I get: "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?"

A few days ago I started getting the following message EVERY time I try to log on:
"Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer: It lists FF and Mozilla Corp.
I have to click "Yes" EVERY time and then it my Comcast homepage appears.
    I have a PC using Windows 7.
In addition, when my homepage does appear, the 3 little icons in the upper right do not appear. (Minimize, X)

A possible cause of this error is that Firefox is set to run as Administrator.
Check that Firefox isn't set to run as Administrator.
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.
    * Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected
    * "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" should not be selected
Also check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).

  • Adobe acrobat won't install - I don't get the user account control prompt

I have a one year subscription to adobe acrobat XI.  My laptop crashed (motherboard issues), so I am now trying to download acrobat to my new laptop.  Is this allowed?  My subscription has another 6 months on it.
I've signed into my adobe account, downloaded the installer, but after clicking "Run" nothing happens.  I don't get the "User Account Control" prompt.
    Can someone please help?
    Thanks

    Hey Goingup2,
Please note that you can activate Acrobat subscription on maximum two computers using your Adobe ID credentials.
In order to install and activate Acrobat on the second machine, you must first deactivate it on the first machine using the Help menu.
You might get User Account Control prompt after selecting 'Privilege Level' option under Compatibility tab of Acrobat properties.
Please check for the same and let me know.
