Before I buy "numbers" can anyuser tell me if I'll able 2 open password protected excel files in 4S?

Before I buy "numbers" can anyuser advise me from their experiences if I'll be able to open password protected excel files in iphone 4S?

I haven't tried opening any password-protected Office files in Numbers or Pages on my iOS device, but I doubt that it can be done. Neither Numbers or Pages for the Mac can open them so it is extremely unlikely.

  • Open password-protected XLSX files in Numbers '09

    Hi @ all,
    I've just started using Numbers a few days ago. I want to open password-protected xlsx-files. Numbers refuses opening it.
    Why?

    This is true. However as a workaround I found out the Quick View function allows you to type in the password and then at least get a preview of its contents. Note that this was not the case earlier on Snow Leopard (I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion).

  • HT3345 How do I open a password protected excel file created on a PC?  I get a message that the "file is encrypted and can't be opened"

    How do I open a password protected excel file created on a PC in numbers 09, on a MacBook Air?  I get a message that the "file is encrypted and can't be opened"

    This is actually not true; I support users who are doing this w/ Excel 2011 (v14.2.2+) for Mac and Windows users w/ Excel 2003 & 2007.  Win users are from finance dept, and who have pasword-protected various budget files.  The Mac users are (surprise) "creative" users, who enter pw to unlock and edit these budget files.
    These files are shared from a Mac server (running 10.6.8 server), and I do have an erratic problem where all users have read-only access to these pw-protected Excel files.  The manual work-around has been to copy the troublesome file(s) and confirm users have full access again.  I also do a shuffling of filenames, so that the new, working file has original file name.
    FYI: the Mac server POSIX and ACL permissions are correct, and don't appear to be source of the problem.
    It's easy an SMB file-locking issue or concurrent users trying to edit these files.  I keep reminding them that Excel is not a database!

  • Can't open password protected PDF files.

    As per the thread title, I can't seem to open password protected PDF files via the Mail app.
    I've read that you can open them if they're synced and opened via iBook, however, this is not an option for me.
    I get sent several password protected PDF for work per week and would like to be able to read them directly from the Mail app just like a regular PDF file.
    Does Apple know of this issue and will they implement a fix in the near future?

    Hey guys, how can i password protect my files in external hard drive? I want to access those files both from mac and windows PC!

    If you want a cross-platform solution that doesn't require the use of third-party software, use an external drive with hardware encryption. The device will have either a physical key or a numeric keypad. I don't have a specific recommendation.

  • Acrobat 8.1 and C# - How can you detect password protected PDF files?

    I am modifying our existing C# code that opens PDF files.  But when ever we hit a password protected file, we are prompted for a password.  This is an automated process, so if we detect a password protected file, we move the file to a manual processing folder to be processed later.
    We are using Acrobat 8.1 Standard.
    Our code looks like this:
    using
    System;
    using
    System.Collections.Generic;
    using
    System.Linq;
    using
    System.Text;
    using
    Acrobat;
    using
    System.IO;
    using
    Word = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word;
    using
    System.Reflection;
         AcroApp app = new AcroApp();     app.Hide();
         try
              if (app != null)          {
                   app.CloseAllDocs();
                   AcroAVDoc av = new AcroAVDoc();
                   if (av.Open(filename, "Test") == true)               {
                        AcroPDDoc doc = new AcroPDDoc();                    doc = (
    AcroPDDoc)av.GetPDDoc();
                        doc.Save((
    short)Acrobat.PDSaveFlags.PDSaveFull,
                        Utilities.GeneratePath(FileVersion.TEMP) + fi.Name.RemoveFileExtension() + ".PDF");                    doc.Close();
         catch (Exception ex)     {
              ErrorLog.LogError(filename.RemoveFileExtension(), ex);     }
         finally
              app.CloseAllDocs();
              app.Exit();
    This works great for non-password protected PDF files, but it prompts for a password if the file is password protected.  I was looking at the FileOpenEX functionality, but I can not find the reference to bring into my C# project.  It looks like it is only for C++, since I could only find C++ examples.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Tom

    There are no methods in the Acrobat SDK for C# for what you wish to accomplish.

  • Acrobat XI Pro for OSX can't open password-protected pdfs created using Acrobat 9 Pro for Windows

    I am having problems opening password-protected files created on a PC using Acrobat 9 Pro.  I am running a MacBook Pro OSX 10.8.4 with Acrobat XI Pro.  When I attempt to enter the password when prompted, a dialogue box pops up saying that I've entered the incorrect password.  After many attempts, I am certain that the password entered is correct -- this is reinforced by the fact that i am able to open the same document using Mac's Preview software.
    Any assistance would be appreciated!
    Thanks.

    I was suddenly having the same problem in Acrobat XI Pro for Windows (recently upgraded to CC from Acrobat X).  For the past while I've sometimes had to use the "insert from file" tool to get a page added from another file.  I couldn't figure out why dragging sometimes would no longer work, but was too busy to go looking for a solution until tonight.
    The solution was given by JoshTatum24 above. Switch from a scrolling page display to single page display.  Now I can drag pages between documents again.  THANK YOU Josh!
    Oh, and CORREAdmin,  it does not matter whether the hand or arrow selection tool is active, my mouse pointer is always an arrow when positioned in the page thumbnails panel.  Switching selection tools does not make a difference in dragging, but switching between scrolling and single page display definitely DOES make the difference.

  • Is Maverick affecting why I can't open any of my protected excel files?

    I have various protected excel files which until yesterday (11/12/2013) I could ope. Today I can't. First I thought because I was typing it incorrectly so I tried other excel files that have different passwords and the result. was the same "The password supply is not correct".
    I have no idea why this is happening and any direction for trouble shooting will be greatly appreciated.  Not accesing these files is a pretty big issue for me.
    In case it is related, here is another issue that I've been experiencing lately (although i can live with it).
    Since installing Maverick, it often falls asleep and in order to restart it I need to turn it off by holding down the off swtich and turning it back on.
    Below is information on my iMac:
    I have a 2.8GHz iMac Core i7 - running OSX 10.9 - with 16GB 1333 MHz DDR3.

    What happens when you try to open the files?  (Any error messages?)  What kind of files are they?  For example, if they are Word documents, do you have Word (Office) installed on the new Mac?

  • Microsoft office 2011 under Mavericks: can not open password protected files

    I think that it all started with the installation of Mavericks.
    I have a few Microsoft office 2011 files (excel and word) that are passord protected. Now, it's telling me that the file can not be opened due to an encrytion sheme that is not available in this country (I'm in Canada).
    I've re-installed Microsoft Office, but that did not solve the problem.
    Thanks

    Same problem for me, I had two password-protected Word files and  both won't open now. It started after i tried to add support for an additional language (spanish), but removing it afterwards did not fix the problem.
    OS 10.9, Office mac 2008 AND 2011 wont open the files BUT Preview can open it! (BTW this saved me)

  • When Password Protected - The File Becomes Corrupted and I Can Not Open It

    I have password protected two files now in Excel 2007.  After opening and then saving a few times, the file becomes corrupted and I cannot open.  The following error message appears  "Excel cannot open the file"XXXX.xlsx" because
    the file format or file extenson is not valid.  Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file.
    The files that I created contains sensitive information and I really need to get to them.l

    You can try to open these files with 'Open and Repair' .
    1.Start Excel.
    2.click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Open.
    3.In the Open dialog box, click to select the file that you want to open.
    4.Click the down arrow on the Open button, and then click Open and Repair.
    Also this issue could be  caused by malware on the affected machine
    Please see:http://blogs.technet.com/b/the_microsoft_excel_support_team_blog/archive/2013/09/07/quot-cannot-open-the-file-because-the-file-format-or-extension-is-invalid-quot-opening-office-files.aspx
    Some one works out this issue with remove the xlsx entention,give it a try.
    1. rename the file and remove the .xlsx or .xls extention etc e.g. if my file is called test.xlsx I remove the '.xlsx' - you will get a warning message saying this could make the document unstable - accept it
    2. the document icon should now have turned white (the document won't look like an excel document anymore)
    3. open a blank excel document by hitting start -> all programs -> Microsoft office -> excel (this may be different if your not on windows 7)
    4. in your blank excel document hit file -> open
    5. navigate to the document you renamed above and select it, now click open

  • Can we create a password protected .folio file.

    Hi,
    Is it possible to create a password protected .folio file, that could be read after password authentication from the Content Viewer iPad app.

    You currently cannot password protect the folio directly, however if you have DPS Enterprise Edition, you can use restricted distribution: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/digitalpublishingsuite/articles/restricted-distribution-with-d igital-publishing-suite.html

  • Why does Apple say that Numbers can open and save Excel files, when in actuality, it can only open .XLSX files and only Export to Excel (not save-as excel)?

    When attempting to open .XLS files in Numbers, the format is not recognized. When the format is .XLSX, the format is recognized. Why is it this way? It's still much more common for folks to have the .XLS file format on their excel files. Why would Numbers not be backwards-compatible?
    Additionally, to state in the benefits of this program that one can save to 'Excel' is a little misleading. You can't save to anything except .numbers. Sure, you can export to Excel (with file extension .XLS, I might add), but you can't save or save-as.
    Does anyone else see the irony in being able to export to .XLS but not be able to open an .XLS?
    There is something to be said for clarity.
    You can't expect folks to have Numbers and Excel on their systems, so how else are they supposed to open .XLS files in Numbers?
    And I don't need to see another advertisement for NeoOffice or OpenOffice here, thanks. I'd actually like Numbers to be a little more sensible.
    That is all.

    When the advertisements were written, there was no Lion so we were able to Save As Excel.
    At thiqs time there is no longer Save As command under Lion but the feature is always available.
    When your editing task is ended, you are free to use this scheme:
    File > Duplicate
    File > Save and in the dialog you will have the option save as Excel.
    Numbers isn't and I hope that it will not become an Excel editor.
    Its resources contain a flag defining it this way.
    I posted several times a script editing this resource.
    This morning I'm not in a mood allowing me to do your duty.
