Before there's a new iPhone model...

Is there a chance we can get basic features that continue to be left out included? To me, it seems crazy to keep revising the iPhone and still having some of the most basic features left out, unless there is some good reasoning for doing so! Is there?
Features like:
Copy/Cut and Paste?!?
Ability to receive pictures in text messages
Ability to attach pics to an email from within the mail app?
Switchable battery (Apple could be selling so many extra batteries to iPhone users!)
Ability to shoot video with the camera (they used to say this was strictly a software feature that could be added later...even my old Palm Treo did video!)
A small LED flash for the camera? Even cheap flip phones have that
A two sided camera so we can someday have video chat?

I am a LONG time Apple user, possibly longer than you....
Maybe or maybe not, but so friggin' what if you are? What does that have to do with the price of tea in China? BTW, my first Apple computer was an Apple IIe, which didn't have a hard drive - operated with a 5&1/4" floppy drive, and I had two of them. That was in the early 80's - so there.
There is nothing wrong with providing constructive feedback, but by posting it here you are providing it to fellow users only.

Who on earth do you think you are addressing this to? This is a user to user help forum only for technical support issues and questions. You aren't directing anything to Apple here, and Apple certainly won't respond to your questions here or anywhere else for that matter.
I'm not protecting anything. If the iPhone didn't include my most important needs and wants - especially a list of 5 what I consider "basic things", I would not have purchased one.
Just last night, I had to endure a stranger putting his cheapy LG flip phone in my face, that had a flash, ability to receive and send MMS text, shoot video, etc.
You had to "endure"? Give me a break.
So according to your arguement, I should buy one of those instead?
That is correct. I'm a firm believer that you should purchase and continue using a device or any product that meets your most important wants and needs so that you don't have to "endure" any strangers putting a cheapy or otherwise device "in your face that includes your most important needs and wants or includes what you consider "basic" things. I'm not such a long time Apple user that I purchase any and everything Apple puts out unless it meets my needs and wants. If the iPhone didn't include what I consider "basic" things, I would not have purchased one - especially if there are other devices that do. How is that protecting Apple - telling people to purchase another device instead? Protecting and defending would be giving you suggestions to explain to a stranger the reasoning for your iPhone not being able to match the features of all these cheapy flip phones, etc. along with giving you reasons why you and others don't need or want those "basic" things. I can't give you good reasoning or otherwise why Apple chose to not include what you consider "basic" things, nor will you get any from Apple - especially here. Do you believe all Apple employees who were on the iPhone development team had never owned or used a cell phone, or didn't know anyone who did, and Apple didn't do any research whatsoever? Apple knows about the features other phones include, and they have chosen to not include certain features - why is anyone's guess. At the end of the day, you should purchase a device that includes what you consider "basic" things and that meets your most important needs and wants, not just blindly purchasing the iPhone because it is an Apple product and you are a LONG time Apple user.
If I am to defend my iPhone, how do you suggest I explain to a stranger the reasoning for my device not being able to match the features of his crappy phone?
I don't need to defend anything, so I don't have a suggestion for you to explain to a stranger why you chose to purchase an iPhone when it doesn't include what you consider "basic" things.

If it's the same machine (same CPU) there should not be any need to activate.  The actiovation is tied to your CPU.

  • HT204269 I can't find MobileSync/Backup/ in the Application Support folder in Library, I'm trying to find my phone back up from a few days ago before I bought my new iPhone, but when I searched on iTunes backup it has been replaced by the back up the day

I'm trying to find my phone back up from a few days ago before I bought my new iPhone, but when I searched on iTunes backup it has been replaced by the back up the day after that. Now all my data from my old phone is lost including some really important things. Also before that iTunes wouldn't let me sync my iPhone 5s data to my new iPhone 6 Plus, saying that the data is corrupt, that's where all this trouble started. I've been trying to back-up the old phones data so I can access it, but it's been replaced when ever I plug the new phone in, and no the 'sync automatically when connected' is not ticked. Please help me find my back ups.

Your iCoud account remains in iCloud even if your device is restored.  (In fact, you can't delete an iCloud account from iCloud, you can only choose to stop using it.)  If the device is restored, or it may no longer be signed into your iCloud account but your account will still exist in iCloud.

  • I have a Verizon LG Versa cell phone, how do I get my contact list from there to my new iphone 4?

I have a Verizon LG Versa cell phone, how do I get my contact list from there to my new iphone 4?

    Matt,
My new iPhone 4 is on the way from Verizon, and I too am moving on from the LG Versa (a poor man's iPhone) so I've researched this.  I trust you have been using the backup assistant on the LG phone to backup your contacts?  If so, and you investigate the app store you will see an app for doing the same task on you new iPhone.  Initially it will take you LG contacts you have backed up at Verizon to their new home on the iPhone.
According to user comments there appear to be a couple of issues with the app you need to be aware of:
       1.  It will not automatically backup your iPhone, you will need to initiate updates in the future on your own.  and
       2.  You will see in the comments, that there have been some issues with length of backup when you add lots of contact photos to your list.
This coupled with the address book sync from your computer should make your list whole, in fact the move to the iPhone will allow me to consolidate my address book with my cell phone contacts.  Then once I remove the duplicates all will be right with the world.
    Steve

  • Saving pictures before Setting up as new iPhone

hey there! I got a friend who just got an iPhone 4. She had her Phone activated at the store and has taken like 100 pictures already... and never synced to a computer before.
She now wants to upgrade to 4.1 and also put music in it, but apparently iTunes asks her to "Set up as new iPhone". If she does, will she loose all her pictures? If that's so, that means she could never sync it to a computer? (loosing the pictures is NOT an option here).
    She's on Windows.
    Thanks!

The Camera Roll is a TEMPORARY location and you take pictures off like you would any digital camera not via syncing in iTunes. Once off you then can sync them back to albums. The more pics in the Camera Roll the longer each sync/backup later on will take.
Read the manual on how to take pictures off.
For Windows it should be prompting her (unless she changed computer defaults) that it detected a Digital Camera and asking if she wants to use the Camera/Scanner Wizard. She can also just go to "My Computer" and browse to it as a camera.

  • Recover photos taken before Setting Up the New iphone from restoring from the old back up

I got my new iphone 6 plus today and took some great and precious photos with it before I got home and get ready to transfer my old files from the old iphone 5.
Then when the iphone 5 back up is done, I was over excited.
When I connects the new iphone 6 plus, itune asked to start as a new phone or to restore from previous back ups.
then I selected restore without remembering that I already took some precious photos with it.
I can hardly see my friends that I took the photo with.
    OMG...I want these photos back.
Is there anyway that I can get those photos back?!!!

Sorry, but if the data from your new iPhone6 did not get backed up before you restored it from the backup of the iPhone 5, your data is gone.
Check iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices if there is any backup for the iPhone6 listed. All backups should have a time stamp, backups you used to restore from will not be overwritten and the content will remain the same.
If there is no backup, your photo data is gone.

  • I need to keep my text messages . how do iget them off the phone before i activate my new iphone

Back it up and restore your new phone from this backup.  See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109.

  • HT201317 Pictures I took on my iPad before i purchased my new iphone won't download to my new iPhone?

I have had an iPad for a while and just purchased an iPhone and the photos I took on the iPad before i purchased the iphone don't want to photo stream to my new iPhone ?

Photo stream only works with new photos taken, not existing ones.  Use the USB to computer method to copy to computer then sync to other device.
    Also...
You should be importing all pics taken with the iphone to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera.
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer

  • I can't delete photos from my iPhone (no trashcan visible). How can I delete before I activate my new iPhone.

It seems that once I backed up my iPhone and iPad to the cloud, whenever I did subsequent back-ups or syncs, it transferred all the photos to my iPhone. Now I can't delete them (no trashcan visible). I don't want all 430+ photos synced when I activate my new iPhone. How do I get rid of unwanted photos?
    HELP!

It will remove all. If you don't want to remove all then leave the box checked, but then uncheck the photos you want removed. It will remove the ones that are UNCHECKED.
It might be easier to remove all, then sync the ones you want the same way to the new phone.

You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar
You can make '''Firefox 7.0.1''' look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0, look like 3.6)]. Have you backup your phone yet?  You should do that first so you can restore your new phone to that back up http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766 .   After you have restore your new phone, then you can delete the contents of your phone.
