BEFW11S4 Configured as Network Bridge

I have an existing LAN from my ISP with multiple PCs connected to it and one Network Enabled Printer using CAT 5 connecting to the router. I would like to make printer wireless connection to LAN and would like to use my BEFW11S4 as the "bridge" to the LAN, can I configure this device as a "network bridge" and if so how can I accomplish that?
Solved!

Thank you for reply.  So in my ongoing quest to solve my remote printer problem I have stumbled onto the WPSM54G and would like to know/understand if I can connect a network printer via ethernet cable to the WPSM54G and then be able to address the printer from any PC on my network that previously accessed the device when it was directly ethernet cabled into my router?

  • An unexpected error occurred while configuring the Network Bridge

    Windows XP Pro SP2, a new TP61 6460 6WG, all Win updates, all Lenovo updates.
    Everything works fine except... when I'm trying to create a network bridge I always get the following: An unexpected error occurred while configuring the Network Bridge.
    This is not the situation described in Microsoft's Knowledge Base KB309640 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309640/en-us). I have no ICS, no ICF.
    Any ideas?

    I had the same problem and was really frustrated. I was about to pull my hairs out but then i was finally able to solve it. The solution is deleting some files of WMI repository. The complete details can be found on my blog http://cheatppc.blogspot.com/2008/07/unexpected-error-has-occured-while.html
    Hope this solves the problem.

  • Bug in Hyper-V: Network Bridge's ARP proxying broken in certain scenarios

    Edit
    I am quite sure now this is a bug. The ARP proxying does not work for VMs if the packet-recipient is not directly attached

    I am running a test lab on my Windows 8.1 using Hyper-V.

    How do I solve this problem?

    Hi,
    In that article I read this :
    " This is supported on wired physical NICs (by putting the NIC in promiscuous mode),
    but not supported on wireless NICs since the wireless channel established by the WiFi NIC and its access point only allows Ethernet packets with the WiFi NIC’s MAC address and nothing else. In other words, Hyper-V couldn’t use WiFi NICs for
    an external switch if we continued to use the current virtual switch architecture."
    Based on my understanding , the prerequisite of external virtual switch is physical NIC supports promiscuous mode . The blogger's opinion is that wireless NIC do not support promiscuous mode ,so the workaround "mac bridge " arises .
    (but "microsoft MAC Bridge" is designed by microsoft to support creating external Vswitch on these wireless NIC which doesn't support promiscuous mode , so I think it is not a bug , it is by design ).
    Also we have not yet tested with a wireless NIC which supports promiscuous mode .
    "In computer networking, promiscuous mode or promisc mode is a mode for a
    wired network interface controller (NIC) or wireless network interface controller
    (WNIC) that causes the controller to pass all traffic it receives to the central processing unit (CPU) rather than passing only the frames that the controller is intended to receive. "

  • Network bridge problems linking wwan0 and eth0 [SOLVED]

    Hi There,
    I have just got working a 3G modem which appears as device wwan0. I am trying to link this interface to my wired ethernet eth0.
    wwan0 seems to work fine with network manager, getting a IP address via dhcp works just fine and I can use the interface.
    However, when I disable network manager and try to bring up the bridge with "netcfg up bridge" it times out, failing to get an lease with dhcp.
    My /etc/network.d/bridge file contains the following:
    INTERFACE="br0"
    CONNECTION="bridge"
    DESCRIPTION="Bridge wired and wireless connection"
    BRIDGE_INTERFACES="eth0 wwan0"
    IP="dhcp"
    #FWD_DELAY=10
    As per the wiki, I have tried using various values for FWD_DELAY (i.e 10 7 5,4,3,2,1,0) but nothing ..
    The relevant sections of /etc/rc.conf are:
    NETWORKS=(bridge)
    DAEMONS=( ... net-profiles !networkmanager ...)
    It seems that DHCP via networkmanager is the only way the interface gets an IP. I even tried "dhcpd br0" or "dhcpd wwan0" and they both time out.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi,
    Ok I have this working now, here are the steps I used.
    1. Allowed NetworkManager to setup the 3G Interface wwan0 with DHCP ..
    2. Disabled my eth0 interface from Networkmanager by putting an entry in /etc/Networkmanager/Networkmanager.conf
    3. Manually configured eth0 with a static IP of 192.168.0.1
    4. did the "echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward" thing for IP forwarding
    5. did the following with iptables:
    iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o wwan0 -j MASQUERADE
    rc.d save iptables
    rc.d start iptables
    6. Connected my wireless router "wan" port to eth0 and configured for 192.168.0.2 IP address and DNS servers dished up from the network  ..
    ( .. looked at the entries in /etc/resolve.conf on the PC I am sharing the internet )
    I can then connect to my wireless lan with my other computers..and on to the internet ... yahoo .. :-)
    The only issue I have with this setup is getting the 3G interface to connect automatically to the network .. I ticked the box in networkmanager, but it doesn't seem to work
    if I reboot the PC or take the usb T stick out and plug back in, I have to manually connect to the network with networkmanager. Does anyone know how to do this automatically ..
    [edit] seems this is a known bug ... you can only auto connect when the interface power is set to "on", but stupidly it defaults to "off"
    Thanks,
    B.

  • Best way to configure a network comprising WLSE and many APs ?

    Hi the Cisco NetPro community,
    I would like to have a discussion with you on the best way to configure a network containing a WLSE and a large amount of Access Points.
    The network I want to configure comprises some subnetnorks, each comprising about 10 access points (with some advanced settings for security). It might be a quite long and boring process to set the configuration for all those, so I am looking for the quickest and easiest solution to do so.
    First of all, the configuration of IP addresses have to be done on each Access Point after unpacking it. The configuration of my network comprises 1 WDS active AP, 1 WDS backup AP and the rest of infrastructure APs, that for each developement site.
    I thought about several solutions :
    - 1st solution could be to apply a configuration file (i.e. load the config.txt file) to each AP manually, changing some values (IP, local radius...).
    But problem is that passwords can't be changed with text editor because of the passwords written in "hash".
    - 2nd solution could be to configure each AP (after IP is set) using its web interface.
    No more problem for hash written passwords, but this method is quite boring when surfing on menu pages of the AP web interface...
    - 3rd solution, which could appear as the best solution, is to create a template on the WLSE, and to apply it to all APs.
    No more boring connection to each AP, but problem are : we need to create as many templates as APs (or change some parameters each time), and we still need to set parameters directly to APs before (SNMP, SSH, WDS configuration...), in order the WLSE to manage the APs.
    So, what do you think could be the best solution in order to deploy such a network with many APs ?
    How is it possible to avoid (so far as we can) the configuration of APs one by one ?
    Thanks a lot in advance for your consideration and your ideas !
    Alexis.

    Well for one of my clients that had over 60 sites, we actually created a couple of templates. We created a basic template and a template for each site. You can have the ap's obtain the configuration from the WLSE, but you need to configure a DHCP option. My client did mac address reservations, but of course you need the mac address first. I guess you can also let the ap get an address and change it later. They tried doing different things, first let the ap obtain a default config and then pushing out the configuration for that site.
    As for the hash, you can set the password in ascii... when you do a show run, then of cours it will be hash'd.

  • Configure vps network with systemd-networkd

    I got a vps and installed archlinux on it, but I can't get the network working using systemd-networkd.
    The mail from the provider have the ip address and gateway (in the rest of the post are redacted respectively 1.2.3.4 and 5.6.7.8), and a note to run two commands after the network setup if configured manually:
    route add 5.6.7.8/32 dev eth0
    route add default gw 5.6.7.8
    I translated the network configuration via the ip utility with:
    ip addr add 1.2.3.4 dev ens3
    ip link set dev ens3 up
    ip route add 5.6.7.8/32 dev ens3
    ip route add default via 5.6.7.8
    With this configuration the network is running, without problems.
    The output for ip route is:
    default via 5.6.7.8 dev ens3
    5.6.7.8 dev ens3 scope link
    Now I'm trying to get the same configuration using systemd-networkd.
    I wrote the following config file:
    $ cat /etc/systemd/network/ens3.network
    [Match]
    Name=ens3
    [Address]
    Address=1.2.3.4/32
    [Route]
    Destination=5.6.7.8/32
    [Route]
    Gateway=5.6.7.8
    After starting systemd-networkd the output from ip addr is the same; the output from ip route is:
    5.6.7.8 dev ens3 proto static
    The network is working partially, I can only ping the gateway, but the rest of the internet is unreachable.
    I read the fine manual, systemd-network(5) and systemd-networkd(8), but I can't get what I'm missing in the network configuration.
    Any help?

    Tried this way, ip route output now is empty.
    On journalctl -xe it says:
    ens3: could not set route: Network is unreachable.
    The multiple [Route] way seems supported:
    http://www.freedesktop.org/software/sys … %20Options
    Specify several "[Route]" sections to configure several routes.

  • I installed my new Apple TV and successfully completed the configuration (Wireless network, Apple ID, and others) yet I am always in the Computers and Setting page- can't move to the main page – any idea on what and how, please?

    Hello, I installed my new Apple TV and successfully completed the configuration (Wireless network, Apple ID, and others) yet I am always in the Computers and Setting page… can’t move to the main page – any idea on what and how, please?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Unfortunately, a number of users appear to have encountered this problem. Some of these users have reported that the problem just disappears the following day or shortly after. Other users have found various other solutions to this problem.
    Firstly, are you receiving any date and time errors when you turn on your Apple TV?
    Check that you are properly connected to the Internet, by ensuring that you have a proper IP address and not one starting with 169. Also check that your location for the iTunes Store is set correctly, if so you might try changing it and then changing it back.
    If the problem persists try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds, or resetting it using the reset option under general. You should also try restarting your router, or if this doesn't work you might like to try a restore.

    Now the Window NT workstation cannot connect with the sun solaris, and I guess that I need to configure the network on Sun Solaris 8.
    Could you please tell me how to do that step by step?
    If there is the system tool like the window system to configure the network easily and quickly.
    I appreciate it.
    Mark

    If your sun system is working then probably it has network configured already .You can check it by the following command on the sun.
    ifconfig -a
    Generally applications asks where license server is located and you need to give the ip-address or host name only . Application docs will give more detail about it.
    You can get ip-address from ifconfig comand above.

    Could I disable this device in "Device Manager". Because it is generating new network card and same application which is using PC information is using this "interface" to generate PC information for licensing.

    Hi JCC,
    I don't think that's an NI software/driver, you can certainly try and disable it in Device Manager and see what effect it has. You can always enable it again if it causes problems when disabled.

  • Issue on configuring WTC queue Bridge

    Hi all,
    Currently I'm trying to configure a Queue Bridge from a JMS queue to a Tuxedo Queue and I'm experiencing some problems.
    The situation right now is the following:
    1- I've sucesfully created the JMS source Queue under the JMS section of my WebLogic.
    2- Created the WTC service, connecting to my Tuxedo Domain.
    3- Created the redirect from the JMS to the Tuxedo Queue.
    4- Created the Queue Bridge.
    The issue right now is, even though my JMS queue is working and have some messages in it, the WTC Queue Bridge fails to initialize with the following error:
    <Error> <WTC> <BEA-180095> <The tBridge could not initialize the JMS sourceName queue.>
    Any idea on why it's not being able to initialize? I've configured my Source Name with the JNDI name of the JMS Queue:
    weblogic.jms.Jms2TuxQueue
    Thanks in advance,
    Brunno Attorre

    Hi Todd,
    Regarding the OTMQ functionality, we were hoping to be capable of using the tpattach, tpdeatach, tpenqplus, tpdeqplus, etc..This mostly due to the fact that, when using a OTMQ, we need touse the non-active queues, temporary queues and other functionalities that are provided by these methods...
    Anyway, I think a solution for this from our side would be to implement a JNI call although, as you`ve stated before, this is not officially suported by the JATMI interface.
    If you see any other solution for these functionalities, I`d be very grateful if you could share them with us.
    Thanks very much!

    I'll guess that your MacBook connects wirelessly and that your player needs an Ethernet connection. In that case, in OS X 10.5 the way you'd do what you need to is to open the "Sharing" panel of System Preferences, then enable "Internet Sharing" by clicking on the checkbox next to it. Set "Share your connection from" to "AirPort" and below that check the box for Ethernet. The steps for OS X 10.6 are probably similar if not identical.
