Befw11s4 ..do i need firmware upgrade?

I have a befw11s4 , firmware version1.5.10 that has been a box for years.  I rev=cenlty came acroos someone who needed a router and i thought i would give this one to them.( they run XP home) and want to hook up and xbox.
I wanted to configuire it for them so i hardwired it to my laptop( Vista home) got into the set-up and changed the network name/key (WPA) etc.
I am curious if i should upgrade the firmware for this unit and which is the most stable/best version

I recently set one of these up for some low internet usage family members also...it is running Firmware Version: 1.52.02 and seems quite stable....
Not sure about the Vista wireless authentication. They are using a netbook running XP with WPA authentication and it works fine...

I Need help. My DVD writer Mat_s_h_i_t_a UJ-850 has problems in writing dual layer dvds. I cannot complete the recording, it always fails. I looked for a firmware upgrade for this recorder, but I did not find anything. Does anybody know where to find a firmware upgrade for this dvd writer?
    Thank you!

It would help if you provide the firmware version currently on your DVD writer. Anyways, here is a link for firmware version 1.01.

  • BEFW11S4 constant disconnect after firmware upgrade

I was having trouble with my router losing connection every 2 hours or so . I have downloaded and installed the latest firmware and now it keeps disconnecting almost every 30 min. I have a static IP on my main pc and dhcp enabled for my xbox360. I have checked the cables if they were bad by swapping them but the problem was still there. Any help would be very much appreciated.

After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch.  If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
Also, please list all the static LAN IP addresses that you are using on your network.
If you are not using the default DHCP server range of 192.168.1.100  thru  192.168.1.149 , then please state your DHCP server range.
Are you running any peer-to-peer (P2P) software?  If so, this is a known cause for router slow downs and disconnections.  Temporarily stop using the P2P software, then reboot router, and see if this corrects your problem.
Who is your ISP?  Are you on a cable system?  Some cable systems monitor the MAC address of the devices connected to them, and eventually boot off any MAC address they don't recognize.  If you are on a cable modem, try cloning your MAC address (done in the router), and see if this corrects the problem.

  • N91 4GB RM-43 Needs Firmware Upgrading!

    Problems Needs Fixing!:
    - The Ringtone Volume is very low (compared to how loud Music Player Is)
    - Music Library will freeze sometimes
    - When pressing the Music button next Play button after the phone been IDLE for couple of hours sometime the Music Player will NOT load
    - Music Player Next, Previous button will NOT work sometimes
    Features need to be added:
    - Audio Visualisations
    - Support for A2DP (No Hardware change needed coz Bluetooth doest support it)
    - Loudness Option needs to be worked on!
In The Future for More N91 Updates!
    - At Least Stereo Speakers!
    - Bigger HDD
    - Better Screen Resolution (Like N73)
    - Camera with Flash at least!
    - Better Battery
    - WiMax (Next Generation Wi-Fi)
I can not classify N91 as a Music Handset. I will classify 3250, N73 ME as Music Phones becuase they at least add Audio Visulations, Stereo Speakers but N91 4GB Mono Speakers & NO Audio Visulations or No Support for A2DP!

  • How do I install my Firmware Upgrade

I have a befw11s4 v4 router.  I have downloaded the need firmware upgrade but I can't find instruction on how to install it.  It downloads as a .bin file.

There's a much better reference that you could follow. Go to linksys.com/kb, look for the answer id 557.

  • Firmware upgrade times out (BEFW11S4 v4)

Hi, my firmware upgrade times out everytime and i've read that the only way to get past this is by flash-upgrading the router through this web address ftp.linksys.com/pub/network but the link doesn't work for me and says '550 failed to change directory'. Is there another link i can try or another solution?
    Previous thread: http://forums.linksysbycisco.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=Wireless_Routers&thread.id=122275

    Download Firmware 314 KB...
    Download TFTP Utility...
After downloading the Firmware rename the file(like - befw11s4)...
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Double click the TFTP.exe file and click run.
For Server- Enter the IP Address of the router that you assigned.  By default, the router is 192.168.1.1...
For Password- Enter the password you assigned the router. By default, the router’s password is “admin”.
For File- Click the triple “…” button and browse for the .bin firmware file...
Click Upgrade button to start upgrading.  A progress bar should show up to show the progress.
Once the Upgrade is done press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • BEFW11S4 v.4 and Vista - firmware upgrade failures

    Hello
I have had this router for about 5 years, running it with XP with no problems. Ever since I got a new laptop with Vista, the wireless connects for an hour or so and then drops out and I have to unplug the router for five seconds and re-plug in order to reconnect (my other laptop with XP doesn't have this problem).
I understand that there are compatibility issues between the BEFW11S4 v. 4 and Vista so I tried to upgrade the firmware from linksys.com and kept getting a failed message. I hard rebooted the router but holding in the restart button for 30 seconds, and the upgrade still failed. So I re-set the factory settings through the router's online admin function, re-downloaded the upgrade and still got the failed emssage (I am certain that the model & version number is correct and I'm downloading the correct firmware upgrade).
Is there anything else I can do other than a) buy a new router; b) live with teh drop-outs; c) remove Vista and go back to XP?
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If you have any Firewall or Antivirus installed on your computer, you can disable it and after this try upgrading the firmware of your router. It if still dosent work then you can try it from some other computer and try it again. If it still the same problem then i think you can Press and hold the reset button for 1 minute...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 1 minute and re-connect the power cable...Now again you can try upgrading the firmware of your router.

  • A prayer to Nokia: We all need a firmware upgrade ...

Are there any Nokia engineers out there???
I think we all need a firmware upgrade ASAP!
As everyone else mentions the N95 is rebooting several times a day, causing irritation and not least extra battery consumption... Not to mention that it does this during calls half of the times.
The other issue is that nobody hears me when I make or take a call. You can of course switch it on speaker and back, but it is not "working as designed" as I see it!
So NOKIA, wake up, smell the coffee and fix these BUGS!
    (and the rest of them...)
    Thanks...
    \jrbit\

    I know,
Just needed to get off some steem and see if any other users out there also will pitch in and applaud my prayers.
So, any users that have the same issues and will join me in this prayer?
It must be a common demand out there and not just me. No harm in "pushing" Nokia a bit on this issue (I hope)
    Anyone?
    Amen...
PS! Arranged a DOA on my first N95, but realised that this is bugs and not just a "monday model" that I got...

  • WRT54G - v1.30.7, Jul. 8, 2003 - I need to upgrade Firmware, but can't figure out?

I have looked on bottom where SN is, etc. and there is nothing more than the WRT54G label....no version.  The other forums said there was a version after that above the serial number, but I cannot find it.
Can someone help me please?  I figure I need to upgrade it so that my PS3 can connect wirelessly to it because every time I try now, the PS3 disables the network entirely and I lose my vonage phone and internet connectivity for the computers until I recycle the modem and then the router....
    HELP!

Got to the point of downloading the firmware you listed above and then when going to upgrade the firmware from the file I placed on desktop, and then clicking upgrade....I get a popup stating.....Incorrect Image File!
    Now what should I do?
Do I need to do prior firmware upgrades to get to a point this one would be accepted?

  • Need help on IBM ServeRaid 5i BIOS/Firmware upgrade

    Hi,
We just upgraded the Cisco Call manager on IBM xSeries 345 MT-8670-M1X server with Cisco patch WIN-OS-Upgrade-K9.2000-4-2sr6.exe. After upgrade we got this error message about IBMC ServeRaid 5i controller card.
"Version mismatch detected: controller 1. The BIOS (version 6.10.24), Firmware (version 6.10.24), and Driver (version 7.10.18) are not a matched set and are not compatible."
We download the BIOS/firmware upgrade Disk from this web site.
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-62462
During the upgrade, the server continues ask insert disk1.
Also this site does not have the latest device drive for IBM ServeRaid 5i in windows 2000 server.
I need some help and you will get my highest vote
    1. Where can I get the proper BIOS/Firmware upgrade disk from Cisco?
    2. During the upgrade stage, why the server always ask “insert disk 1”. I have tried all 5 disks. But none of the work. I disconnect the mirri during the upgrade. Does it affect the upgrade?
    3. Where can I get the latest device driver for 5i work with windows 2000 server?
    Many thank
    Kevin

  • New Firmware Upgrade Not Needed

I tried to download and install the firmware upgrade posted today (v1.4), which is supposed to take my BootROM to MBP31.0070.B03 (it is currently identified as MBP31.0070.B02 in System Profiler). However, when I run the updater, it tells me I don't need the update.
    Any thoughts?

The santa rosa chipsets (2.2s and 2.4s) may not need the firmware ?upgrade. If my 2.4 had needed the upgrade, it would have shown up in Software Update, and it did not.
I don't mind this at all. Firmware upgrades could be problematic and I love to avoid them where possible. All of the iLife and iWork upgrades came up on software update for me and installed and are working fine.

  • Befw11s4 v2 firmware upgrade using mac os x?

How might I upgrade the firmware on a linksys befw11s4 v2 wireless router using mac os x?
    Thanks,
    Harry

Thiis an old thread, but maybe the next person will see this:
It is not necesary to extract the .bin file on a Mac to upgrade your firmware. Just browse to the .bin file where you downloaded it to begin the firmware upgrade.

  • My airport extreme is saying that I need to upgrade the firmware to 7.3.1 but I can't find where to get that download.

I bought a new airport extreme on ebay and it works but as soon as I hooked it up it says I need to update the firmware to 7.3.1 and gives me a link to go to but it won't give me an option for that update.  I tried the other updates that it gives an option for but none of them work.  Help!

OK, if your Extreme is an original "round" 802.11b/g model you need AirPort Utility 5.6. The problem with that version is that Mountain Lion will refuse to let you install it. Other than that, there is nothing wrong with using AirPort Utility 5.6 and your older Extreme should work just fine with your new MacBook.
This dilemma is easily solved. You simply need to extract the app from the installer package using a package extractor like Pacifist or unpkg. Pacifist is shareware, unpkg is free.
    Download Pacifist here: http://www.charlessoft.com/
    Download unpkg here: http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Download AirPort Utility 5.6 here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
When the AirPort Utility .dmg file finishes downloading, open it to expand and reveal the AirPortUtility56.pkg package installer file.
Directions for Pacifist (I do not have screenshots for unpkg but the idea is similar):
Open Pacifist and from its File menu, navigate to the package and open it.
Click the "reveal triangles" until you see AirPort Utility 5.6.app:
Select it and then click Install from Pacifist's toolbar. It will then be installed in your Utilities folder, and you can quit Pacifist.
Mountain Lion will not allow you to delete its existing version of AirPort Utility. Just ignore it. It and the older version (which will bear the unique name "AirPort Utility 5.6") can peacefully coexist. Launch AirPort Utility 5.6 and firmware upgrade options for your older Extreme will be available.
If you happen to have an archived copy of the AU 5.6 app somewhere, such as a Time Machine backup or equivalent, you can simply restore it or drag the app to your Mountain Lion system's Utilities folder instead of resorting to the above procedure. It will run without complaint. It is only the package installer that is the problem.
If you have an older computer with a version of AirPort Utility earlier than 6.0, you can administer it that way as well.

  • Advice needed on PCI Flexmotion-6C firmware upgrade

    Hi !
We have a CNC machine that used to run an old software on WIndows 95. This software controls a PCI FlexMotion 6C and the card drives the machine. We had hard time making the system stable with windows 95 so we decided to move to windows 2000.
Everything work as expected with the new 5.11 drivers EXCEPT for speed. The machine is running at around 50% of the original config on windows 95. We do have 3 "packet lenght" errors when we start the cutting software. I tried to change the "velocity" value in Trajectory setting for both axis 1 and axis 2 but MAX software gives me an error about firmware being too old.
Should I do the firmware upgrade ? Is it a safe procedure to do ? Could it help me resolve the "packetlenght" errors a t software startup by having a firmware that fits withthe newest drivers ?
I just don't want to screw up the card and stop production, we have no access to the source code and to the programmer of the software...
    Thanks for your advices
    Francis

    Francis,
the driver software for NI motion control boards consists always of two parts: The driver for the host and the firmware on the board. If you upgrade the driver it's strongly recommended to upgrade the firmware, too, because this is the constellation that was thoroughly tested at NI. Upgrading the firmware is a safe process as long as you don't interrupt the power during the download process (which takes less than 1 minute).
    Kind regards,
    Jochen
