BEFW11S4 v4 IP vanished from Mac and will not reconnect despite successful ping

I suddenly can not connect to the internet wirelessly with BEFW11S4 v4.  I've restarted all devices gone into the networking tool and pinged the router after I manually typed in the IP.  However, under System Preferences, Network...the router IP will not show up.  Any suggestions?

If you have set your MAC computer to use static ip and when you ping router are you getting an replys from router. You can remove the static ip from your mac computer and set it to DHCP and check whats the IP address you are getting it from router. And make the connections which you have made are Modem to Router Internet Port and Computer to Router Ethernet Port 1 and after this try to Ping router and see if you are getting any reply from your Router.

If you are looking at the front page of the App Store and you are seeing the "downloading" message on the right under Quick Links.
Try this... Go into the "Purchases" section in the top bar of the App Store find ML in the list you are presented with. Does it say Resume? If so click the button and it will change to Pause. You may have paused it previously and forgot.
If not then do as Csound1 suggested and simply wait for it to finish

  • My TrafficLight extension disappeared from Safari and will not reinstall. How can I fix this?

My TrafficLight extension disappeared from Safari and will not reinstall, either through Safari or as a standalone download. How can I fix this?

Are you sure you downloaded this extension from Apple ?
    https://extensions.apple.com/
    Where is it?
    Check ~/Library/Safari/Extensions
I did a Google search for source links for the extension but can't find the one for Apple here.
Maybe you downloaded a trial version and it expired?  http://trafficlight.bitdefender.com/extensions.html
Just my 2 cents, but this extension is likely to cause you more problems with Safari then it's worth. If you are concerned about security on the net read >  Thomas' Corner : Mac Virus Guide

  • Reinstalled my router and now Airport has gone inactive and will not reconnect

Reinstalled my Linksys router and now Airport has gone inactive and will not reconnect. What am doing wrong?

How did you reinstall the router? Do you mean updated the firmware on the router?  Did you change the router settings and if so, what changes did you make?  Did you make associated changes in the AirPort card in your iMac?

And will not start up in safe mode. I have reset PRAM and SMC. Also restarted with no startup items, no luck. Had the problem of waking from sleep and not shutting down in 10.7, updated to 10.8 hoping for fix, no luck. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Hi, this log has some similarities to my ipod touch which seems to be not sleeping properly due to wireless issues. Can I check - are you using a wifi connection - if so have you tried ethernet?

  • AirPort Express loses network and will not reconnect

    Hi all,
I've seen several postings about similar issues but I'm not sure if mine has an answer or not. I have owned and used an Airport Express (A1084) for a number of years and it's always worked flawlessly. I recently acquired a second one and moved my original one up one floor to extend my G network and stream music to a different room. Now the Airport will lose its connection to the network every few days and then just blink amber until the power is cut off to the unit. It seems to always reconnect with no issue after the power has been shut off for a second. It has not moved that far away from it's original location and it is not placed even close to the effective range of the main wireless router, so I don't believe that incoming signal loss is the problem.
All the settings on the Express are the same as they have been for years, so the only variables are the addition of the new Airport Express, which I don't have set up to accept wireless connections, and the new location of the device.
Does anyone have some suggestions on a direction to go to trouble shoot this problem?

You need to remember that most newer routers sold in the last 3-4 years allow their users to "hide" their network. In other words, the network is operating but your computer, or one of the commonly used utilities used to scan and display other networks likely will not be able to "see" these networks.
In general, you should probably assume there are twice as many networks as your utility can "see" and since you can't see them, there's no way to know what channels they are using. So, it becomes a process of experimentation to try to find a a good channel for your wireless network.
It's not just your cordless phone that can cause potential problems for your network. My neighbor....across the street...could drop the speed on my wireless to a crawl if he was in his front yard talking on his cordless phone. Again, there's not much you can do about this, except to know that there are far more forms of interference than most users ever imagine.
Since most cordless phones operate at the 2.4 GHz frequency, same as your wireless network, you may be encountering some of the difficulties that I have with the neighbors cordless phones at least 100 feet away.
I solved my issues by using 5 GHz wireless as there are for the moment, much fewer networks using this frequency band. You may need to look at that possibility as well if your problems continue.

  • I have a macbook air that is not connecting to the internet correctly.  I've had it connected for three weeks, it went into sleep mode, and will not reconnect.  It will connect to other wireless routers (I've tested it) but not the one at my apartment.

The problem is not happening with any other device that I have.  My iPad, iPhone and another laptop all connect fine.  In fact, it's not even the connection.  The computer will connect to the net.  It just will not open any page.  It starts to open and then hangs and hangs.  It will not move.  Weird since it worked great for three weeks and then all of the sudden, nothing.  Click on Safari and I have short hope that it will move and NOTHING!  Any thoughts why it would hang up like this and only with this specific network?

This is a known Lion issue, hopefully solved in 10.7.3. But may not be solved immediatly after updating, that was my case.
To make it work i followed those steps.
    1.- Restart
    2.- Lion 10.7.2 Update
    3.- Uninstall netwokrs
    4.- Shut down
    5.- SMC reset
    6.- Reinstall networks
I dont know whether all the above steps are necessary, but for me the update didn't work properly before SMC reset. (I am running a MBA mid2011)
    Hope it helps,
    Cheers

  • Creative Cloud has disappeared from my Mac and will not allow me to download it again. Solutions???

I have had Creative Cloud on my Mac for over a year and about a week ago I updated the application and it completely disappeared from my laptop. I have tried re-installing it many times but my Mac is not allowing me to do so. This is a serious issue as I am a monthly payer of CC and need these applications for schoolwork.

Elizabethd92565688 have you utilized the steps listed in Error "Failed to Install" Creative Cloud Desktop application - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/failed-install-creative-cloud-desktop.html to reinstall the Creative Cloud Desktop application?

  • My iPad 3 is stuck on exchange acct from yesterday and will not let me sign in. I cannot access settings to change to local wi fi. How do I reset?

I was at my office yesterday and signed in on the local exchange.
Today I am at ome, tried to log in and it is wanting password from the other exchange where I was at yesterday. I do not have password with me. I need to access some things. I cannot even access settings. How do I reset so I can access my iPad and accounts?

OK....Reboot your iPad.  Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time for about 10 seconds (ignore the red slider to shut down) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart.  Once it comes back up, see if you can connect to your home wifi and if you can, all should be good.

  • Upon waking from sleep, laptop will not reconnect to wireless net.

If my laptop is on and I'm using it and I close it to put it away for a bit, when I come back to open it, it doesn't reconnect to the internet all the time.
I have to restart the computer in order to get it to reconnect to my wireless net. Just wondering if anyone knows what's going on.
    Thanks!

besides setting the network as preffered and in the network settings udner the options for airport make sure it will connect to any available network, there isnt much else to do
some times it jus takes 30-60 seconds, also check that the network is paired to the location (if you have separate locations)

  • My iPad is no longer connected to wifi and will not reconnect to wifi.

I have 2 other Apple devices that are connected to the same wifi network and they're working fine. I tried reset my network settings like the support page said. But, it no longer works. What can I do?

    Try the following:
    1. Turn router off for 30 seconds and on again
    2. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    3. Reset iPad; hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo

  • I have deleted a number of songs on my Mac and do not want them reinstated from my iPod when I hard synch - in other words I want the music that is currently on my Mac not all the music that is on my iPod.  thanks

I have deleted music from from Mac and do not want them added back from my Ipod when I synch - how do I do it?

If you remove tracks from iTunes (and your mac), they will be removed from your iPod the next time you sync it with your iTunes library.  That is unless you manually manage your iPod's contents, in which you'll need to manually remove the desired tracks from your iPod Classic via the iTunes interface.

  • My Mac Pro 2.8 crashed and will not reboot in Safe Mode - HELP!

    Hello
I have a Mac Pro 2.8 and it froze up on me; I held in the power button to shut it down. Upon restart, all I get is a flashing foldoer file icon with a question mark.
What gives? It will not start in Safe Mode, via the Shift button OR DOS command (sudo nvram boot-args="-x")
    1. How do I get it back up? I have a back up on my external hard drive, but it doesn't recognize it?
    2. Are all my current files gone?
    Thanks for your help

A flashing question mark on boot can mean several things. One, your Mac can't find a system folder to boot from or the startup disk is failing or failed.
Since you don't have the install discs now, it may take some time to order and receive them from Apple. Probably time to take the Mac to an Apple Store or Apple certified repair shop. They can tell you for certain whether or not the disk has failed.
Since holding down the Option key that prompts the Startup Manager window didn't work, not does your external drive recognized your Mac, I'm afraid without a backup to restore those files from, you may be out of luck.
can I get a new one from mac, and will it erase all my files?
You can get replacement System Install & Restore CD/DVDs from Apple's Customer Support - in the US, (800) 767-2775 - for a nominal S&H fee. You'll need to have the model and/or serial number of your Mac available.
