BEFW11S4 Wireless-B username and password rejection

I have a BEFW11S4 Wireless-B router and yesterday my router stopped recognizing my username and password, but only after I log in. I am able to log into the main router configuration page after I type in 192.168.1.1 into my web browser and also able to configure the options under the administration and even the security tab. However when it comes to changing any of the options under the setup tab like "internet connection type" or the "optional settings", I am prompted to enter my username and password. I do this, as normal, but this time it does not accept it and continues to ask for it unitl I get a bright red "unauthorized" screen in internet explorer.  I also can not change anything in the "applications and gaming tab" either without it prompting for a password that is rejected, whether or not the password is right.
I have updated the firmware to the latest available for this old router, I have reset the router countless times (using the reset button on the back of the router and using the "restore factory defaults" option on the configuration page), and I have unplugged the router countless times as well. I have also tried using Firefox or Opera thinking that it may have been a web browser problem. I have tried many "simple fixes" because I don't know much about routers, but I do know that my router was working fine a couple days ago and I didn't have this problem. I need to change the internet connection type and also forward a few ports but it isn't allowing me to do so . Can anyone please give me advice on what I should do to resolve this problem?
Any help will be greatly appreciated..

Hi… This is very common issue when you have upgraded the wrong file. So check the version of your router and download the correct firmware for the same. Reset the router for 1 min and try configuring the same. If not, might be flash memory on the router is corrupted. You need another router.

Skype for iPad rejects my current user name that I use for Mac and iPhone and password.    Why do I have to create a whole new account for Skype.  Is it possible to use all three  devices
with the same username and password?

Yes, I have desktop, laptop and iPad all working satisfactorily with the same Skype account!
It should make no difference but have you tried signing out on one of the other devices before trying the iPad?

  • Remote DVR Hates Me - Continues To Reject Valid Username And Password

    Hi all,
I mistakenly posted this message in the programming forum by mistake, so I'm moving it here now (sorry about that):
For the past few days, I've been unable to login to the Verizon remote DVR from both my iPhone and the web. It had been working fine for months, then all of a sudden, when I try to login, I get the dreaded 'login failed. please try again."
My Username and Password still work fine for Verizon Central, but for some reason the remote DVR login page won't recognize them. I tried re-registering my username and password, but that didn't work. I don't have any periods (or other weird characters) in my username. And as I mentioned, it had been working fine for months and months. Very frustrating.
I called tech support. They couldn't help (seemed baffled and ill equipped to solve this type of problem).  The rep told me that Verizon was having some trouble with remote DVR (yet he had NO information about what the problem was or if there was a fix in the works). Is this true, Verizon? Is there an internal issue? He said he was going to connect me to someone who could tell me more. I said great. Then he connects me and I get a recording that says, "you've reached a non-working number in the Verizon system ..." NICE!
Is anyone else out here having trouble logging in to their remote DVR?
One thing I noticed, the login page looks different. There used to be  2 radio buttons: one for ".com" and one for ".net." I don't see those any more. I wonder if that's part of the problem.
I appreciate any help. Thanks everyone. And again, sorry for the double post.

    Hi Guys,
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
TROYH72: Yes, I'm painfully aware that the "http://m.verizon.com/tv" url is for mobile devices. It used to work fine on my iphone, but it no longer does. It constantly rejects my username and password (which are both valid). FYI, that same url used to work from my computer as well.
PJL: Thanks for your suggestion. I tried deleting the cookies and clearing the browser cache. No luck. I really think this is a problem on Verizon's end for a couple of reasons:
    1. The login page looks different to me now. As I mentioned, there used to be radio buttons for .com and .net. Those are gone.
    2. I have the same problem logging on from my computer as I do from the iphone. Seems odd.
    3. I can log in to "http://www36.verizon.com/fiostv/web/," and some other Verizon urls, but I can't access my DVR once I'm logged in. The only way I can access my DVR remotely is to log in through "verizon.com"  and do it the roundabout way. But as I mentioned in a previous post, that's really cumbersome from a mobile device.
    4. Maybe most importantly, the remote DVR used to work perfectly! And now it doesn't work at all on my iphone ("Login failed. Please try again.") And it's wonky from the web. And I haven't changed anything on my end.
Maybe it's a Mac thing. I'm running Macs as well as an iphone. I know that sometimes, Verizon and Macs don't play nicely together. I'm at a loss. And it doesn't look my Ticket is making any headway.

  • [SOLVED] Wireless connect with username and password

I just recently installed Arch on my computer but have used *buntu for a couple of years so I'm not completely lost in the Linux-world.
Anyway, my college have a wireless setup that requires you to log in with your username and password. I used wicd in *buntu but the reason I installed Arch is because I want to know how to do stuff manually, and not only automagically.
So, the problem I have is that I don't know how to connect to it using wpa_supplicant and netcfg. I've googled about it but haven't seen any good examples, or how-to's.
I've a profile for my home network but I only have a WPA key here so that was easy with the wireless guide, so I know some basics about wpa_supplicant anyway.
This is what "iwlist wlan0 scan" give me:

    password="<password>"
Using netcfg (which I recommend strongly): do the above and set WPA_CONF to /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf (or whatever you want).
Using netcfg from testing (which you'll have to upgrade to eventually):
    CONFIGSECTION='ssid="<network>"
    key_mgmt=WPA-EAP
    identity="<username>"
    password="<password>"'
    That did it
I added an own profile in /etc/network.d that I just connect to now. Excited too see if it works back home as well, got some strange error yesterday when I use WEP.

  • Ical "authentication failed. your username and password were rejected by the server"

i've a pretty busy server, fully configured with correct DNS.
running 10.6.8, uptodate. i've stopped the ical service, and removed it from the server settings.
then i created a folder on my RAID /volumes/raid/ical, set its ownership to _calendar:_calendar (uid 93), rwx,rx,-
then added the iCal service back, and set the data store to this new folder.
authentication is set to digest (to reduce potential kerberos errors), with SSL on.
    i then started the service
an existing user CANNOT connect to the caldav server. i get the error: ical "authentication failed. your username and password were rejected by the server".
if i create a NEW user, that user can correctly connect to the Caldav server. On first joining, an entry is created in the __uids__ folder and the calender works.
    SO. WHAT IS GOING ON?
this is 10.6, so i do not have an option in WGM to 'enable calendering'. i've used the inspector to check for differences, but i can't see any.
help. please. and no comments about DNS. the fact i can get  a new user to function means that is excluded. no comments about SSL. ditto. no comments about kerberos, its turned off. thanks.

I often think of things in terms of time it takes to figure out the solution to the problem vs time it takes to nuke and pave.
Dare I ask...  How many users would you have to remake?
150 users would probably take 2 hours to recreate?
...Have you spent 2 hours on this problem yet?  How about 4 or 6?
Perhaps you could have typed up 450 remade users so far!
I have a great idea as to how to change ownership of home folders to users after they're created.
Thoughts on the problem... (but don't spend too much time on it!)
What about crypt vs open directory password?
In WGM, select the user, click the advanced tab, and ensure that your users have OD based passwords?
...sometimes that pull-down menu displays OD, but it's not really.  Try selecting OD, retype the password there, and save.
    See if it works.
What about in server admin....  Select the server in question, click the access button at the top.
Ensure that your services are allowed for all users to use the iCal service.
In the iCal service in Server Admin...
Host name setting?  It's a stretch as new users seem to work.  Ensure it's correct?
For the sake of argument...  Change authentication type to Any Method...  If you're running OD on the server, Kerberos is running.  I know that certain services require it even though you have the option.  Perhaps iCal is being finiky without it?
I apologize if you've tried all these, but as a user forum, you'll typically get users that don't believe that you've tried the basics.  It's honestly the best place to start.  Seeing as we don't know what you've done, it's the best advice you'll get.

  • Problem with username and password

I've been trying to set up a new back up from scratch, and after losing my network and wifi connection, I just about have it all working again.
I have wireless connection, and I have the TC appearing correctly in Airport Utility, green light, reporting no issues, and seemingly ready to go.
It shows up correctly when I select disk in TM's system preferences, and it shows up and connects OK i n Finder, under shared items.
However, when I try to initiate a backup, its reporting a problem with the username and password, even though I'm entering the correct password.
I've checked it in the keychain, changed it in AU to be sure etc, and when I enter a wrong password, it just tells me its the wrong password, rather than this longer message explaining there's a problem with the username or password.
So I guess it could be with the username, but not sure what that might be - any ideas?
The only thing I can think of is that the name appears as Time Capsule b7e45c in AU, but as Iain MacDonald's Time Capsule on Time Capsule b7e45c in TM's system prefs.
Message was edited by: Iain MacDonald1

Exactly the same here...error 107 is reported when I try to back up.
There are 4 computers sharing the time capsule and only one of them reports this error.
Is there a way to remove the sparsebundle and start again for this computer without having to lose all the others?

  • Outlook 2013 on Windows 8.1 keeps prompting for username and password.

    Hi,
I have a HP Pavillion TouchSmart laptop with MS Windows 8.1 OS. I had installed MS Outlook 2013 Standard. This laptop is joined to the domain like many of my users, however, it keeps prompting for username and password. The emails are still able to send

I have tried to check the connectivity, both cables and wireless are well connected.
I have tried to reinstall the Outlook 2013, but it still occurs.

    For the configuration:
I have selected negotiate authentication, and have unchecked the box that states

    Please advise.

  • HP1102W, XP, asking for username and password

I'm setting up my wireless printer, and it is asking for a username and password?
The wireless printer is set up and shows a status of online when I look at the printer in the browser.  I recently reinstalled windows and everything on one PC. I am trying to set up the wireless printer to print from the PC that was recently reimaged.  It is an HP 1102W. I click Add a Printer (next), A network printer (next), Browse for a printer. The printer shows up in my list of devices. But when I click on it, I am asked for a username and password for the PC that this printer is connected to by USB cable. I do not know what username and password it is asking for.
It does not seem to be the printer username and password it is looking for. It is looking for the username and password for the PC that the printer is hooked up to (by USB cable.). The box that comes up is a windows box and says "Connecting to SHARONS-PC" and then asks for the username and password. There is no username and password on this PC.

I finally figured it out. Even though this is a wireless network printer, it is not added by clicking on the add a network printer. Somehow, Microsoft considers this a local printer (attached to this computer, even though it is not attached to the computer or a local printer).
    To add:
Click Add a printer (next), select Local Printer (attached to this computer) (next), The wizard was unable to find a plug and play printer (next), select Create a new port. From the drop down select Standard TCP/IP port (next) (next), put in the printer IP address from the configuration page of the printer. That should pre-fill the port name also (next). That should add the wireless network printer.

  • Using a guest wi-fi network with changing username and password

I am trying to access a "guest user" wi-fi network at my office. For security purposes, the guest network username and password are changed periodically. The connection worked fine until the username and password changed. Is there any way to access the setup of a specific wi-fi network on the iPhone and update the user name and password? I would like to be able to do it without resetting ALL the networks used?
I tried to use "Forget Network" and then restored the connection, but it appears the iPhone retains the old username and password in memory.
    Thanks!
    liv3itup

Well, I tried to duplicate what you talked about. I have my wireless here at home, and I chose, "Forget this network" and when I went to rejoin, it asked for a password. Many public networks take their username and password through the browser. Have you tried to open Safari to see if it will default to the username/password screen? I've used mine at hotels that change their access every 24 hours and if I try to log back on after the time, it defaults back to the login screen. That is the only solution that I can think of. And yes, if you go to settings and reset network settings, it will clear all of them.
