BEFW11S4 with Westell/Bellsouth DSL, and wanting file and print sharing

I have configured the BEFW11S4 to share the DSL connection with Ethernet to home PC, and wireless to laptop.
How can I configure this to also allow the laptop to connect to the home PC for file and printer sharing?
Sorry if the is discussed elsewhere, im noob here and couldnt find anything applicable.

Check IP on each PC: For example:
PC1: 192.168.1.100
PC2: 192.168.1.101
Ping 192.168.1.101 from PC 1 and ping 192.168.1.100 from PC2... see which replies...
If both give out positive replies... then that is not a router issue but PC issues. Might be firewalls.

You can't write to it because it's formatted as NTFS which OS X will read but not write to. If you want to continue using the drive with both a PC and OS X you will need to download and install NTFS-3G so you can then write to it from your Mac. You can get NTFS-3G at:

If you want to use the drive exclusively with your Mac then move the data off it and reformat it in Disk Utility (Applications - Utilities - Disk Utilities) as Mac OS Extended (Journaled.)

My external hard drive is 'seen' by my iMac and I can go into the Finder and open files and folders. I am using the hard drive for Time Machine back up. However Time Machine says it can't find the drive. Same thing has happened with Final Cut Express.

You cannot have time machine backups on your hard drive if you intend to use it in FCPX.

With out changing/opening the fmb file and fmx file Can i know the version

Hi all,
I am working with forms in different versions.
I have number of fmx files with few are complied in 5i, few are in 6i and few are complied in 10g.
All are in the same directory.
The problem is because of all are reside in the same directory, i don't know the version of the selected file.With out changing/opening the fmb file and fmx file Can i know the version of the selected fmx file?
Is there any possiblity to get the version of fmx file with java code?

I second the whole iTunes folder approach.
If for some reason you have split the media folder from the library files then the media folder needs to restored to the same path it used to have while the library files can be copied into the music folder of your new profile.
If in dobut, backup up the entire Documents and Settings folder before wiping the infected drive, but be selective about what you restore as many viruses drop active components capable of reinfecting the compuer in the temp folders and internet caches. It is much easier to backup more than you need than to discover after the fact that you no longer have access to some vital project you'd been storing in a folder on the desktop.

Try this:
1. Settings>General>Date & Time>Turn off set automatically
2. Set date one year ahead
3. Go back to iTunes and try again.
4. You will get the same error.
5. Go back to settings general date and time and turn back on 'set automatically'
Try connecting to iTune Store again.

WRTU54G-TM no file or print sharing

Ever since swapping out my Linksys 54G for this t-mobile/Linksys router I no longer have file and print sharing. I have gone around to all of the laptops and the one wired desktop and reinstalled file and print sharing. I have turned off all firewalls and even (just long enough to see if it would make a difference) all anti-virus. None of the computers can see each other and nobody can print to the printer on the wired desktop. Linksys support has consisted of people reading scripts and ignoring what I have said. For example, ME: "I have even turned off all of the firewalls." THEM: "Have you turned off any firewalls?" I also get helpful comment such as, "The router supports file and print sharing." I cannot get connected to a tech who is not reading from a script. I am not a beginner. I began working in the pc industry back in 1984 and I really do know how to do this stuff but I can get stumped and I am really stumped. I am tempted to bridge this router and put in something that allows print and file sharing. Any ideas? Please?

As your all the computers are able to go online and are connected to your Router. This first thing which you need to check is are you able to Ping your computer from the other computer? If you are getting the reply messages then you need to Re-map the Network Drivers on your Computers again, and make sure all the computers are in the same Workgroup..
If you are getting the Reply messages, when you ping your computer from an another computer, Click on Start - Run - now type ( \\IPaddress of the Computer) and click Ok. This will display you the list of Drivers which you have shared on that Computer, Right click on it and select "Map Network Drive" and click on Finish. This will map the drive of that computer to this computer and you should be able to tranfer the files.

Problem with Read-only user being able to add and delete files and folders.

iMac (intel) running 10.5.5
File sharing ON
Sharing folder on external USB drive called 'iTunes' (but not the drive volume itself)
Users:
- Everyone = Read Only
- Admin(me) = Read/write
- UserA = Read Only (with account PW and username identical to local login for computer below)
Computer #2
UserA's iBook G4 running 10.4.11
When I go to finder>network>iMac>connect it prompts me to login which I do and then select 'iTunes' folder which is visible and mounts successfully. I can see all files, access them all. Life seems great. Then I discover that I can also modify and delete files from the iBook, and create and delete directories.
I'm new to networking and although I've setup and managed minimal networking tasks on PCs before, this is my first foray into the Mac networking world. Please help.
What am I doing wrong? What haven't I set?

Sorry, I should have clarified this in the first email.
When I login from the iBook, I am logging in under a read-only user (not as myself, who is admin on the iMac). The user on the iBook has only been given read-only permissions on the iMac yet is able to add and delete files.
This read-only login/PW however, is the admin account on the iBook, but that shouldn't allow this person to write on the iMac so far as I understand things...right?

Turn the printer on and plug the printer into the MBA and your mac should install the printer for you (usually any necessary drivers too). I had a printer I used on a pc and I plugged it into my macs usb port and my mac automatically recognized it and took care of everything for me. If you do this and it wont print, then yes go to the HP website the install latest drivers for 10.7

Problem with Canon RAW 5D/7D Raw file and Magenta highlights

Hi everyone,
I've noticed a problem with some Canon RAW nightly shots when in scene are present magenta spotlights (also red and blue):
In the core of light, magenta color become "solarized" and white burned, and there is no way to recover it with any Adjustments. (also but in minor way, Red and Blue lights)
Opening the RAW file in Canon Digital Photo Pro the same images are perfect:

Any suggestion?

I have exactly the same problem with the 7D RAW files. I have tried Leopard+ Aperture 2, Snow Leopard + Aperture 3 trial and nothing makes a difference. Horrible magenta colour cast on the neutral tones, yet the blues are over-saturated and total lack of sharpness no matter what you do.
I shot JPEG (neutral) and RAW together so know what they should look like. I don't get any problems with Canon DPP software so the error seems to be in the Aperture RAW converter. The issue seems to be more apparent in low light or images with a lot of neutral tones, other images shot outside in good light appear to be pretty much ok. I even tried the latest version of Lightroom and that can't seem to handle them well either.

Lost my m2v and ac3 files and want to recosntruct from a final DVD

I lost the compressed files m2v and wav that I used to generate a menu driven DVD at the time I was using a Windows based PC (I used Pinnacle Impression with a menu to generate the final DVD.
Now I no longer use this PC and made the big step to the Mac world in buying a MacPro with FinaCutPro and DVD STudio Pro. The only thing I have left is the final DVD with its usual contents (VOB files).
Is it possible to find a way to import the VOB files (with the sound) into DVD Studio Pro, split it by Chapter and re-create a brand new menu ? Or using Compressor or FCP in intermediate steps before using DVD Studio Pro ?

You can use * MPEG Streamclip * to extract the original m2v and ac3 files from the VOB file without any quality loose, and use such files in a new DVDSP project. You'll have to rebuild your menus and navigation.

ICloud: Will it work with non-iTunes music, converted MP3 files and manually organized library folder?

I have a small question about the new iCloud that was introduced.
I listen to music both on my notebook and on my desktop PC. At the moment I use an external hard drive that I keep with me so my music library exists on both computers. If I'm correct the new iCloud means I no longer need the external hard drive.
But,
Not all my music was purchased through iTunes. Some things are converted from CD's I bought and the CD is different from the iTunes version. (More songs, other songs,...) What happens with the songs that are different, or music that does not exist (I have a QOTSA CD which is not available outside the US iTunes store, or several LE bonus discs)?
Some local artists are not on the iTunes store. Is it possible to sync those to?
And the most important one, I also listen to my music in my car. It has support for an SD-card but no USB support so I can't hook my iPod. It only accepts MP3 files and it needs correctly filled in ID3 tags to show up nicely. I convert all my music with iTunes to MP3, but I use MusicBrainz to tag my music because I found that the iTunes ID3 tags will not be correctly picked up. I'm quite happy with this approach as it also means that I can organize my music library to my liking instead of the "let's throw all artists in one folder" approach iTunes uses. Is it possible to use the iCloud with my MP3 converted and tagged versions of my Music?

You can only sync to one iTunes library/computer. If you do sync the iPod is erases and its contents replaced with what is in the iTunes library of the second computer.

Comparing an excel file to and xml file and appending data to the xml file

I have an xml file (mapsource) and an excel file. One of the columns in the excel file matches up with a node in the xml file. I want to be able to loop through both files and add a new node to the xml file where the one of the columns in the excel file matches a node in the xml file.
I can create a query object out of the excel dosument using the cfspreadsheet tag.
I'm able to use xmlparse to create a xml document object from the xml file.
What I would like to do is add col_3 from the excel spreadsheet as a new node when col_2 is equal to gpx.wpt.name.xmltext of the xml object.
Any help or direction would be very helpful!
