Beginner! How to insert a dynamic swf file into a movie (AVI, FLA etc)

If I am intruding here with a silly beginner questions I apologize. I am new to Flash. I have purchased a dynamic flash intro sort of like this http://www.templatemonster.com/flash-intro/26664.html
It came with the full package including source files and but also simple editing through an xml file. I have the video as I want it but want to put it as an introduction for a full video (in AVI or .FLA format).
How can I export it as a video file without the need of anything else such as the xml?

Can a basic slide show created in Flash cs4 using as2 to load the images dynamically be inserted into a Dreamweaver cs4 page ?
The swf file shows up but I can't figure out where to put the linking images so the 2 basic "next" and "previous" buttons work ?

When you load the swf file into the html page, that becomes the swf's reference for loading files. So if your structure has a folder containing the html file and another folder for the flash file and another folder for the images, as in...
main_folder...
     - html file
     - flash folder
          - - flash file
     - images folder
          - - image files
then you need to change where the swf file is looking for the images because when it is in the html page, that is essentially the folder it is trying to get the images to load thru.
For instance, if you originally tested using Flash with the swf file targeting the images using...
"../images/imagefile.jpg"
(or something like that... those dots confuse me at times)
and the structure is as I described, then when testing in the html file the targeting would need to be changed to...
"images/imagefile.jpg"
Just think of the swf file as living in the html file's folder as far as targeting any files it needs to load, because once it is loaded into that page, it has basically moved to that new location.

I haven't seen Flash 8 in a long time. Take a look at the export options if it was already there: Main menu -> File -> Export -> Export movie -> file extension *.mov

i am trying to display a swf file using AS3 in a flash site which uses AS2. I know that loading the swf file in the normal way, into a dummy movieclip (loadMovie) or into a new level (loadMovieNum), doesn't work. The AS2 based flash site doesn't understand the new file. Is there another way to get around this problem?

How to place a Flash swf file with a movie FLV file embedded in DW

     My hair is getting shorter by the hour or maybe missing. I have created a SWF file with Flash 8 that has an embedded FLV file that was created from a MP4 file.   The SWF file works perfectly in FLASH including my Flash nav buttons, and the movie with soundtrack and the buttons for control of volume and start stop. Now I am ready to place it on the web using DW to make the html page. What happens when I test the page on FireFox or IE is the background loads, the buttons load but do not work properly anymore but worse than that: The slide show and the control buttons do not even show up.
     I am also having trouble defining my site locally. I select new site and tell it where every thing is but no luck. All in the same directory, right now I have a image directory but I have not used them on the page as the only image is a jpg and flv file and they are embedded in the swf file.
     I know this is 2 different programs but the Flash files need to be placed in a HTML file to be uploaded, and I have to text them first.

The Final Cut Pro manual is very misleading. It says:
You can import any files that are recognized by QuickTime, including:
* Video files: QuickTime Movie, AVI, and Macromedia Flash (video only—you won’t be able to play any audio portions).
But Apple have since removed Flash support from QuickTime so these files can no longer be opened. The best thing to do is ask the client to deliver the file to you as a QuickTime movie.

I am looking for help in finding a Javascript that would allow the insertion of a dynamic/current date into the footer of a scanned document at the time the document is printed.
I am currently using Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0 at my work and there has arisen a need to have a dynamic/current date in the footer on scanned documents when they are printed out on different days by different people.
I am new to the Forum and I am also very new to Javascript and what this entails.

How can i create smaller editable files into i movie?

hi first time posting here. i've been working on a family project for a while now and recently decided to add additional footage to an existing imovie i made before. this new footage was coming from a cousin's video cam. she first made a vhs copy of the footage for me and then i used my vhs/dvd recorder to turn it into a dvd. i opened it in my macbook, quit dvd player and opened the mounted disc. i then moved the individual vob files intoi toast titanium and then exported the files so i could manage them in imovie. at first i exported them into dv files. these were HUGE when i imported them into imovie although they were manageable files while on the desktop. i watched my gig availability shrink from 25gb to 11gb after importing a 10 minute clip. i've tried exporting from toast into a quicktime movie file, but somehow, this clip, when imported into imovie also becomes HUGE and somehow not manipulatable. how can i prevent this increase in the size of a clip when i import it into imovie and keep the file available for editing, trimming, etc? please help. thanks scott

Hi scojjtoe - first of all, the work-flow is such that quality is an issue:
Assuming your cousin's camera is DV then the source footage has gone from DV, down-graded into VHS, then converted to MPEG in DVD (i.e compressed), then re-formatted once more into DV! Was there no other way of proceeding? Even recording the VHS onto your own DV vidcam would have removed one source of degradation.
When importing into iMovie, your file will be increased in size, as it will be turned into Full Quality DV (I think that is why the bloating has occurred, anyway). However, a 10 minute clip should be about 2 GB, unless that 10 minutes is actually part of a much bigger source clip - remember that iMovie uses non-destructive editing, so a source clip is retained if any part of it is used.

How to insert a Flash SWF into my page

I am using GL6 on an Intel MAC running 10.5.6. I have a Flash file I created using Flash CS3 and want to have it appear within my GL page. However when I try to insert the file into the site window, I get the error message: myfile.swf could not be updated. Do you want to continue anyway?

You can try to use my flash action original made to avoid the IE Eolas problem
It wont give you a preview (flash only show in browser)
It was made in GL5 and shud works in all newer versions

How do I convert a prel file into a mp3, avi, etc. I am needing to upload the video onto youtube and the file is not compatible as a prel. I am using adobe premier elements 12.

Given you have Premiere Elements 12/12.1. (limit...2 GB 15 minutes, even if you have an extended time account at YouTube...the extended time account applies only to file uploaded to YouTube at the YouTube web site)
If your goal is to get a Premiere Elements 12 Timeline uploaded to YouTube, you have two possible routes....
a. Publish+Share/Social Websites/YouTube and your selection of the preset that matches your Timeline properties
or
b. Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD with one of the .mp4 preset to export the Timeline content to a file saved to the computer hard drive from where you upload it to YouTube at the YouTube Web site.
For best results, I would suggest an AVCHD.mp4 file instead of the "avi" that you mentioned. What is the video compression that goes with that "avi" wrapper?
As for .mp3, that is a audio file extension, what is your intent on that....an upload to YouTube with just music and with a black video display? YouTube strictly enforces any copyright issues, so please assure that there are none associated with these .mp3 otherwise YouTube will remove them.
Please review and consider, and then let us know if you have the information that you sought.

Insert an swf file into another Flash file

Hi,
I'm a newbie to flash trying to insert an SWF flash file (a game) into another Flash file. However, when I import the swf file into the library and drag it onto the frame (and insert the stop(); command onto the frame action to stop it playing the whole movie), the SWF file plays constantly, ignoring all the actionscript and button commands in the game SWF file.
When I try inserting it using the Window component, the game SWF refuses to play at all - it just stops (clicking buttons in the game work, but it goes-to-and-stops instead of go-to-and-play like it's supposed to do). The only other component I could find was called "Loader". Using this doesn't work either, it won't play any of the animation, just like using the "Window" component
When the game SWF is played by itself (by just double-clicking to open it from Windows Explorer or embedding it in a web page), it works fine.
Any help how to do this would be appreciated.

In my first swf, I'm loading a second swf via loadClip().
My second swf works well alone but when I try to integrate itself in my first swf I'm losing my events. My events only works on my first swf.
I'v tried your trick with _lockroot but he doesn't work for me too.
Is someone have an idea to help me ?

my file contains simple text with numbers of lines having more then 10 MB size and it might be increase up to 100MB.
i required to seek to spec. position and insert chunk of characters to file without overwriting existing one.
I tried out with RandomAccessFile class Also.

overwrite portions of an existing file or extend one by
writing past the current end of file.
If you want to insert text into a file you have to write
out a new file.

Inserting swf file into dw vs. creating full site in flash

I'm updating a website, and am pretty familiar w/html and DreamWeaver, but would like to add some elements of Flash into the site. I am using Flash CS4.
What is the advantage and/disadvantage of inserting various swf files into my DW site versus just creating the entire site in Flash; what's the difference in either approach?
If I do the latter, do I eventually bring it into DW anyways so that it is an html file?

There can be potential issues with Flash content in a web site since the evolution of iStuff led to disallowing Flash content to be displayed. If you are looking to attract a mobile user base, then going with Flash can be a gamble, especially as you go further on into the future where there will no longer be Flash Player development to parallel the mobile market.
I have heard that Flash content does not support handicapable design elements that html/css provide for.
You can always have the web page code check for the availability of the Flash Player, and if not found have alternative content presented instead.
An issue with having a full Flash site is that it can be less SEO friendly than going with straight html-based designed, although since the Flash content would still reside in an html page there are some measures that can be taken to support SEO concerns.
For a full Flash site design you would probably not need DW since Flash can generate an html page of its own.
I recommend you post your questions in the Dreamweaver forum as well. The reaction there to using Flash content is likely to be harsh, so don't take it personally, but some helpful information might still be gleamed from trying.

How to Put Controls on SWF File... then Export to FLV

Have a swf file that self plays.
What I Need:
I need to imbed this self playing 2 minute video clip with
sound...but I want it to have controls on it and be paused. I want
to use dreamweaver to place it in the web page but stupid
dreamweaver only puts controls on a flv file NOT SWF's.
How can I get a swf file, then add controls, then output to
FLV so Dreamwemaver can put it on my page.
I have Adobe Dreamweaver CS4, Flash CS$ but DO NOT KNOW HOW
TO USE IT - Tried but failed miserably (it didnt even want to put

For me, not. But yes I have to do this. Maybe I manual have a table which includes the y axis coordinates. X axis is dicrete then when I get the value 2 I will look at its y axis and take the coordinates of the y-axis corresponds to the table
