[Beginner:] Incorporation of ECC, BI and SCM APO Inquiries
Hi All,
I would like to seek your help on something I am working on. We have this supplies procurement planning tool that I was helping to create. Our general objective is to create a tool that will give a forecast of supplies that people need to procure from a facility for the future months. I am under BI and I am wondering on the basics regarding BI and SCM APO data flows. Honestly, I am still clueless on this. I have seen from our systems that most loads come from APO going to BI. Is it always that way? Are data from ECC considered as well?
Hoping to hear lots of advises on this. Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge to a newbie like me.
Saging,
Hmmm. It seems a bit odd to be creating a 'forecasting-of-material-procurement' tool, when SAP has so many already built in, either within ERP or within APO. Oh well, I am sure there must be a good reason.
I have seen from our systems that most loads come from APO going to BI. Is it always that way?
BI type data can come from any source. The most common BI solutions I have seen is where BI data are extracted from the main ERP. However, the beauty of BI is that it doesn't care, SAP builds in functionality to get data from anywhere.
Are data from ECC considered as well?
They can be if you design it so.
You should be aware that most data existing in ERP that are relevant for material planning also usually exist in APO. The Core Interface between ERP and APO is normally set up to natively replicate substantial quantities of Master data and also transactional data. It may be that in your business environment, you really don't need to connect to anything other than APO. However, this is not a limitation of BI, it is just smart programming to try to minimize the number of sources of your data.

Client concept for SAP SCM APO and SAP TM
Hello,
We are installing SAP SCM APO 5.1 (SNP, gATP, DP) and SAP TM 7.0 (ramp up). Both connect via CIF to ECC 6.0 SP3. As far as my knowledge goes for CIF, both master data and transactional data is exchanged via CIF.
In ECC we have a three client concept:
100 customizing only
200 customizing + master data (golden client)
300 customizing + master data + transaction data
Can we use a similar model for TM and SCM APO as well? Should we then only connect ECC-300 to TM-300 and ECC300 to SCM-300 via CIF?
I have also heard that also some ECC customizing is transferred via CIF to SCM/TM. Is that true and does that change this model?
Regards,
Rob Veenman
SAP Basis.Rob,
As a general rule of thumb, for each ECC client you will probably want an SCM client. From your landscape description, it is not clear to me in which clients you perform the everyday functions of development/test/production, but I guess you have already worked that out. Without knowing exactly how you manage your environment, I will say that it is probably a good idea to have active CIF connections between each of the three pairs of clients. Once you have set up a single connection between your first pair (ECC/SCM), you will find that setting up the second and third is pretty trivial.
Yes, quite a bit of ATP configuration can be CIFd across. Typically, you do this one time, and then lock the transfer of config out (there is a config setting in SCM to stop further transfer of config). From that point forward, any config that must be parallelled in both systems is usually done manually in both systems. Notable exceptions are Factory Calendars, units of measure, and Fiscal Periods, which can be pulled across from ECC to SCM any time you want via standard program.

Hi Experts,
My apology if I'm posting this on the wrong category.
I'd like to ask for SAP SCM (APO, EWM etc) if its a separate installation like with SAP ECC or it can be added as one of the components for SAP ECC?
Cheers,
R-jayHi R-Jay,
SAP SCM Applications are separate installations like SAP ECC or SAP CRM software applications .
Within SAP SCM also there are separate licensing requirements for APO, EWM, EM, SNC applications.
For SAP EWM and EM, SAP ECC add on option is available, however, the licenses for EWM, EM will be seperate than thoseof ECC.

SAP SCM and SAP APO: Best practices, tips and recommendations
Hi,
I have been gathering useful information about SAP SCM and SAP APO (e.g., advanced supply chain planning, master data and transaction data for advanced planning, demand planning, cross-plant planning, production planning and detailed scheduling, deployment, global available-to-promise (global ATP), CIF (core interface), SAP APO DP planning tools (macros, statistical forecasting, lifecycle planning, data realignment, data upload into the planning area, mass processing u2013 background jobs, process chains, aggregation and disaggregation), and PP/DS heuristics for production planning).
I am especially interested about best practices, tips and recommendations for using and developing SAP SCM and SAP APO. For example, [CIF Tips and Tricks Version 3.1.1|https://service.sap.com/form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=011000358700006480652001E] and [CIF Tips and Tricks Version 4.0|https://service.sap.com/form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=011000358700000596412005E] contain pretty useful knowledge about CIF.
If you know any useful best practices, tips and recommendations for using and developing SAP SCM and SAP APO, I would appreciate if you could share those assets with me.
Thanks in advance of your help.

Jarmo TuominenHi Jarmo,
Apart from what DB has suggested. you should give a good reading on the following.
-Consulting Notes (use the application component filters in search notes)
-Collective Notes (similar to the one above)
-Release Notes
-Release Restrictions
-If $$ permit subscribe to www.scmexpertonline.com. Good perspective on concepts around SAP SCM.
-There are a couple of blogs (e.g. www.apolemia.com) .. but all lack breadth.. some topics in depth.
-"Articles" section on this site (not all are classified well.. see in ECCops, mfg, SCM, Logistics etc)
-Serivce.sap.com- check the solution details overview in knowledge exchange tab. There are product presentations and collaterals for every release. Good breadth but no depth.
-Building Blocks - available for all application areas. This is limited to vanilla configuration of just making a process work and nothing more than that.
-Get the book "Sales and Operations Planning with SAP APO" by SAP Press. Its got plenty of easy to follow stuff, good perspective and lots of screen shots to make life easier.
-help.sap.com the last thing that most refer after all "handy" options (incl. this forum) are exhausted. Nevertheless, this is the superset of all "secondary" documents. But the maze of hyperlinks that start at APO might lead you to something like xml schema.
Key Tip: Appreciate that SAP SCM is largely driven by connected execution systems (SAP ECC/ERP). So the best place to start with should be a good overview of ERP OPS solution overview, at least at the significant level of depth.). Check this document at sdn wiki "ERP ops architecture overview".
I have some good collection of documents though many i havent read myself. If you need them let me know.

Hi Gurus,
I'm setting the gATP in SCM-APO. Everything is working fine in the ECC environment, i create my documents, they go to SCM-APO to do the ATP check (product allocation) and return with the confirmed quantity.
Now, we are testing the sales order capture from CRM, we tried to do some concurrent orders with the same data. The oder is created in CRM but it is not created in ECC. If I verify the order in CRM I can see the followin message:
"An error has occured in the system CTE-200I while copying the document"
"APO: Plng object ZAH_COMERCIAL, 010005005005010, 02, 40 0, 012, 0000 and basic method QUOTA have been lock ed (check not possible)"
Has anyone encountered this problem before?
Best Regards and thanks in advanced!
-ItaloHello Hugo,
We are facing the same issue when order replicates from CRM to R/3. R/3 generates same error which throws back to order to CRM.
Please let us know if its resolved and what was done to solve it.

What r the prerequisites for implementation scm-apo in ECC 6.
HI,
what r the prerequisites for implementation scm-apo in ECC 6.
Thanks,
Ashutosh
9891595497Hi Ashutosh,
you can find all informations about the implementation (installation /upgrade) of SCM on the SAP help portal.
In http://help.sap.com choose in "SAP Business Suite" the "SAP Supply Chain Management".
In Knowledge Center for SAP Supply Chain Management (SAP SCM) choose the required SCM release e.g. SAP SCM 5.0 and open it.
Here under "Installation, Upgrade, Master and Operation Guides" you can find all necessary information about the installation, technical upgrade and operation of SAP SCM.
The Master Guide for SAP SCM provides important information about the installation of the relevant scenarios and the components. It links to all other documents that are required for the implementation of a specific scenario, for example to the Upgrade Master Guide, which is the important overview guide for upgrading scenarios .
I hope I could help you with these informations.

Communication between ECC and SCM via XI
I am trying to set up the scenario 'Purchase_Order_Processing' between
ECC and SCM using XI. The SCM content for XI has been loaded into XI
and this scenario is included in the content.
We are running the following:
ECC - Version 5.0 - 640 SP level 12
XI - Version 3.0 - 640 SP Level 14
SCM - 4.10 - 640 SP Level 12
The connectivity between the systems has been set up as described in the configuration guides. On sending an IDOC (basic type ORDERS05) into XI I get the following error message 'Http server code 500 reason Internal Server Errorexplanation Error during parsing of SOAP header'.
The Error XML is as follows:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
- <!-- Call Adapter
-->
- <SAP:Error xmlns:SAP="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Message/30"
xmlns:SOAP="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
SOAP:mustUnderstand="">
<SAP:Category>XIAdapter</SAP:Category>
<SAP:Code area="PLAINHTTP_ADAPTER">ATTRIBUTE_SERVER</SAP:Code>
<SAP:P1>500</SAP:P1>
<SAP:P2>Internal Server Error</SAP:P2>
<SAP:P3>Error during parsing of SOAP header</SAP:P3>
<SAP:P4 />
<SAP:AdditionalText />
<SAP:ApplicationFaultMessage namespace="" />
<SAP:Stack>Http server code 500 reason Internal Server Error
explanation Error during parsing of SOAP header</SAP:Stack>
<SAP:Retry>M</SAP:Retry>
</SAP:Error>
Any assistance would be much appreciated.Sravya,
Yes this an IDOC to http scenario. There was no dump at the receiver end. I've found out what was causing the problem - I was using an adapter type of HTTP. It should have been of type 'XI'. I've altered this and it works. Hopefully this will resolve your problem Vinod.

Block Demand Depend Interfaces between ECC and SCM
Hello All.
Is there a way to block only interfaces of Dependent Demand between ECC and SCM.
I need to do this because ECC writes over my plan in SCM.
Thanks and Best RegardsHello PrasunM
For example:
When you create an Order on finished material, SCM using PP method "3 - Cover Ind. Requ." creates DepReq on raw material.
SCM using CIF sends PlOrd, PrdOrd and DepReq to ECC. I want send only PlOrd and PrdOrd, DepReq i only need in SCM side.

SCM , APO and Livecache administration
Hi SAP Guru's
Can any one guide me what is role and responsibilities of SCM and APO and Live cache administration as part of Basis.
I will be great help if any one can guide me in SCM and APO and LIVE cache administration.
Waiting for Reply
FarooquiHi Farooqui
Since this Forum handling more application related topic, it is better to post your question in different Forum "MaxDB/liveCache ".
Above MaxDB/liveCache is handling more basis and liveCache related topic.
As a general information, SAP provides following documens that describe task and check point related to SCM system and liveCache. So I recommend you to check following 3 documents.
URL : http://service.sap.com/solutionmanagerbp
Number
44 System Monitoring for SAP APO (3.x) / mySAP SCM (4.x/5.0)
34 Monitoring and Administration for SCM / APO
42 Checklist for Recovery of SAP APO liveCache >= 7.4
Also there are some documents that describe liveCache behavior, so for better understanding,
I also recommend you to check following 2 documents. (The information is bit old. but it might be helpful to understand liveCache).

Difference between APO and SCM
Hello All,
I am new to SAP...
Can somebody tell me the difference between SAP APO and SAP SCM.....
Regards,
MaryHi,
SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (APO) is the planning component of mySAP SCM, the supply chain management solution provided by SAP.
SAP APO is used to make strategic, tactical and operational decisions and supports you in performing the following planning activities:
Demand Planning (DP)
Supply Network Planning (SNP)
Production Planning (PP)
Detailed Scheduling (DS)
Deployment
Transport Load Builder (TLB)
Transport Planning and Vehicle Scheduling (TP/VS)
Global Available-to-Promise (gATP)
SAP's endeavor into the advanced planning solution market was with the name SAP APO. There are other APS solutions in the market from Oracle, Manugistics, i2 and a whole host of other companies providing specialized planning solutions
Over the years SAP has brought the SAP APO solution under a wider umbrella called SAP SCM. Since version 4.0 of APO it has been called SAP SCM. So in the release strategy of SAP you will find SAP APO 3.1 followed by SAP SCM 4.0
SAP SCM is a more complete solution that covers planning, networking, coordinating and execution. In addition to SAP APO, which is still the core of SAP SCM, there are other applications such as SNC (Supplier Network Collaboration - erstwhile ICH), SCEM (Event Management), EWM (Extended Warehouse Management) and SPP (Service Parts Planning)

Hi folks,
i would like to see ECC and SCM scenarios connected by CIF, how ever HU2(ECC) and HU8 (SCM) systems are not interconnected. let us know whom do we need to contact in this regard.
Thanks in Advance ...Hi Amit,
The ES (emphasis on Enterprise Service or Web Service) Workplace Systems are actually setup for customers or consultants to test drive SAP delivered Enterprise Services, so it stands to reason that integration between these systems would be using web services / SAP Enterprise services for the most part.
Trying to contact someone to configure CIF / ALE integration between HU2 and HU8 is not going to work for you.

Distinguish APO 3.0 and SCM 7.0
Hello Friends,
I need to know, what exactly the link and difference between two, and what are th modules being covered in SCM 7.0. It would be great if someone share's some knowledge !
Thanks and Best Regards.,Hi PK,
If your requirement is of basic training purpose, then SCM 5.0 itself
will suffice. In any system, compliexity will arise only if you are
going for more enhancements and customisations.
You can also find more information on SCM 5.0 and SCM 7.0 under
the below link

Hello Everybody good morning,
I've got a scenario which i would appreciate your support.
The company which i work for we've got a sort of Sales Rep mobil. The stock usually is transfer accordingly their sales need by a transfer stock method into SAP and located into their specific storage location. Usually, this stock is often sold or it will be sold within the month. However, into APO demand forecast, this considerable stock "sold" is not yet included as the material was not effective sold, invoiced....
What i would like to know is, if there's any possibility to include stock transfer into Demand figuers onto APO?
Ie: Sales Rep. X / storage location 001
Stock transfer from Central Warhouse of 1 pc.
This one pc, despite be stil located into this Sales rep mobil, basically its sold, and i would like to know the possibility which this 1 pc be considered "sold" into APO. Is that possible? How could i configurated that this would happen? I guess that this is linked into Material Master set for this specific storage location up, am i right?
Well i would appreciate if anybody could adviced me into that scenario.
Cheers
CCHi Caio,
In demand forecast, usually this stock consideration is not needed to be taken care into account as it will be net off during supply planning run (SNP).
In case you want to net the stock off at demand planning side, i.e. SNP is not considering this particular stock at all, then the stock data for specific storage location can be pulled into BW (or any other system you are using for transferring data between ECC and SCM). Extract the data to a KF in demand planning and while releasing the demand to SNP, use (Demand - sold stock) KF.

SCM / APO forum on upgrade
Hi All,
Just to moot a proposal for new forum on SCM or APO upgrade
There are forums for ECC & CRM upgrades
For APO, we have few threads & a good wiki on newer versions
Are there no upgrades happening
Moderators & Guru's please share & enlighten
Acceval teamHi Andre,
There can be a number of transitional steps to move from SCM with liveCache to ERP/SCM on HANA. The bottom line is that liveCache becomes part of the HANA database so there is no need for a separate liveCache server. SCM on HANA is generally available now. See SAP Note 1825703. I believe the following steps are representative. You'll have to consult with your SAP representative for the exact details.
Steps -> SCM w/ LC -> SCM w/ LC and HANA -> SCM w/ HANA -> SCM on ERP w/ HANA
You don't have to go through each step. I'm not sure when the consolidated ERP/SCM on HANA will be GA.
Best Regards,
Mike
