Beginner question: creating my own virtual instruments from samples

Hi, I have a beginner question. I'd like to make a click-track, but I want to use my own sounds, either recorded or from the internet. Can I do this with Logic Express 7, or do I need Logic Pro 7 and the EXS24?

I think you can do it, but it might be a pain.
You could import a sample of a single click and just paste it into every beat on the Arrange Page.
Other than that, you might need the sampler included with Logic Pro

I found the answer to my question on my own via Demo from Pittsburgh PA thanks restarting the printer and iPad worked thanks

I asked the question I am unable to print from my iPad 3 since the last update it says printer no longer available with an error code 5809EC well no one directly answered my question so I started looking at other questions that were similar and I found an answer from Demo from Pittsburgh PA his suggestion was to turn off your printer and iPad and restart them, and this worked perfectly. His answer was in reference to a question asked last march so to others it's ok to seek answers from 7 months ago he was right.

I like to give credit to where credit is due, thanks again, hopefully this helps others out there too cause apparently many others are having the same problem

I try to created a VM from a Template. On a Step 1.5 (Install VM components) and falid. This is a error:
Error (10659)
Cannot run Sysprep on virtual machine SRV2k8test because the template does not have a virtual hard disk attached that has been generalized.
Recommended Action
Specify a template that has been generalized and then try the operation again.

Sorry to dredge up an old topic - but got some really weird behavior.
I knew that I had to sysprep the vhdx's before bringing them into a template. I've done this (verified twice), and I still end up with the error list at the top of the thread:
Error (10659)

I am running SCVMM 2012 R2, and things were actually running smooth as of three days ago. Templates built before then are still working and can be deployed with no problem.
However, building a new template today gives the above error when testing the deployment.

Beginner Question: How do I get pictures from my iPhone to my PC?

I used to email them to myself, but it is just way too cumbersome. I now have 160 photos I'd like to move to my computer. I searched this forum and it seems most questions are way more advanced than what I need. Thanks!

Thanks. But I have read the user guide and it says, as I have suggested above, that I need 3rd party software.

Beginner question - Creating a simple flight info application

I've just started learning ABAP Web Dynpro and have completed the exercise to create the sflight application.

I then added a button on the display view to take the application back to the search view, again this worked ok. But i then noticed that when I click on the search button again the 'GETFLIGHTS' method is no longer called and the display screen always displays the data from the first seach. (I have checked in de-bugging and the method is only called the first time the search is initiated).
Any help most appreciated.

This is becuase this application uses a supply function. The supply function is only fired by the framework when an invalidated or initial node is accessed. Quickly studying the tutorial, in a real application I probably wouldn't follow this structure of using a supply function for this very problem. You would need to invalidate the context node on the navigation plug in order to get the supply funciton to fire again.
I think this is just a very simplist example that was designed to demonstrate the basic techniques and wasn't really designed for multiple navigations back and forth. Probably best to learn what you can from this tutorial and then move on to more advanced ones.

so, on freesound.org i found these solo violin samples, and i'd like to (want to, need to) turn those into an instrument in my library. i believe i read that you do that in the exs24 module. well, i'm a complete LE noob, and i can't figger that out. is that, in fact where i do that? if so (or, if not), can someone point me to a (hopefully) step-by-step for doing that?

Call LabVIEW Virtual Instrument through ActiveX Server from C/C++

I am trying to access a VI by C/C++ almost identical to the reference example that can be found on this site for Visual Basic. However, somehow, I am unable to succeed to use the ActiveX Call() function. The program always crashes, whatever I try. Because the Visual Basic version works without any problems, I hope someone can point me the error in the code.

This may not be the easiest way. Although i have not used _variant_t. But it seems like your VARIANT type is VT_EMPTY for everything. You need to build up an array of variants with correct type, that matches the type of control you are assigning data to like VT_INT for int numeric, VT_BSTR for string control etc

Creating new instruments from soundfonts:

Hi all,
I'm still pretty much a newbie with GarageBand and have been working with it recently by using midi files imported into the program and selecting different instruments to get a more pleasing arrangement, with the aim of making my own custom backing tracks. I have followed Hangtime's excellent tutorial and made some custom instruments from Sf2s downloaded from Hammersound and Fox-gieg. Now, the problem I have is this ... some of those custom instruments (annoyingly, the best ones usually) will not play when I reset to the start of the midi track but strangely, if I change to an instrument that will play (such as JamPack instrument) and play a short section and then change back to the custom instrument it will play (that's how I know it's a good sound by the way) ... but when I go back to the start of the track (midi file track, not audio recorded) then the pesky instrument will not play!! If I scroll back to just near the beginning of the track the instrument will play but if I go right back to the beginning of the track ,it won't play. I need the instrument to play right from the start in order for it to play all the way through when I then go to 'Share' and 'Export to Disc' to convert the file to m4a.
Hangtime, if you can throw some light on the problem I would be most grateful mate ... or anyone else on the forum for that matter. I would appreciate the help.
I have resolved a lot of my initial problems like the bass sounds being an octave lower when playing midi files (solution: use the pitch adjust in the edit section) and so on by referring to earlier posts in this excellent forum ... but I haven't come across this.

No worries, I'm glad to get follow up replies to resolve this one and I apologise to yoodler for not getting back but at the time ... I did not fully understand his reply as I did not (at the time) pick up on the reference to Dent du midi which is a freely available program which may be the solution to the problem. If you refer back a few pages to my earlier post re: tonewheel organ sounds not playing you will see this was resolved by using that program ... it was brought to my notice via Gary Sumak's reply and I am so grateful as this little program sorts the problem for those tonewheel organs but should also work with instruments created from soundfonts. It converts the midi track to aif and you then assign the software instrument of your choice from your menu (in this case the instrument you have created from your soundfont) and it should then play through each time correctly. It will only cure those soundfont instruments that are playing 'hit and miss' if you like ... it will not help those soundfont created instruments that yoodler mentions that 'do not take' and which may be caused by using GS files ... I don't know.
I spent a day a while back before posting this thread and downloaded lots of likely soundfonts and converted them ... gave myself repetitive strain injury to my wrist in my enthusiasm and then found that nearly all of those instruments did not actually 'take' or played intermittently and eventually gave up on the whole idea and removed them all. I have found that the Ben Boldt and AMG series of instrument expansion packs and the Jam Packs from Apple pretty much cater to my needs ... but for the odd instrument not available in those collections then it may well be worth downloading several soundfonts of that one instrument and using the Dent du midi program for any of those 'tricksters' that play 'hit and miss'.

Can we create our own loops in Logic Pro. I see in all the tutorials. They are either taking input from external instruments OR use existing apple loops.
I have tried FL studio demo to create our own loops. But there is no trial version for Logic Pro. Need your inputs before I purchase it.

Yes you can!
It is as simple as selecting a Region (optional trimming recommended) and choose the Export command.
A Dialog window opens up that lets you enter the metadata
Apple had its separate "Apple Loop Utility" app (now only available in the developer package) that allowed you to create loops in a standalone app. The built-in loop capability in Logic uses part of that engine.

Fastest Way To Create Ultrabeat Instrument From Wav Loop?

Hello, can anyone share the fastest way to create and instrument from a WAV file?
I know you can convert a wav to ESX24 instrument but I use Ultrabeat not ESX.
Im finding my self divinding each shot into region and then exporting that to its own file.
Is there a faster/simpler way?

You're right! It does work, however, if you follow these steps:
1. Right-click on wave file in Arrange and choose "Slice at Transient Markers" or use the corresponding key command.
2. Select all the split regions right-click on them and choose: Convert > Convert to new audio file(s)
3. Again, with all the regions selected choose: Convert to new sampler track.
4. Now launch Ultrabeat. Click on the Import button anc choose the .exs file you've just created (will be located in your project folder). Then drag the audio files into UB as desired.
You could skip Part 3 altogether and simply slice at transients, convert to new audio file(s) and then in a new kit of UB drag them into the sample window of OSC for each part...

I am often in locations where there are open WiFi networks and I'd like to use an Express to create a private WiFi network from the available public one.?
If the express can't do it on it's own can I add another router to make it work? I have ethernet connected PC's and NAS devices I want to use. Thanks

If you need ethernet connections for your "private" network, an AirPort Extreme (or virtually any other router with ethernet capability for that matter) would work.
So, an AirPort Express to "receive" the public wireless signal and provide an ethernet signal to the second router which could be configured to provide both ethernet and wireless connections. Just be sure to setup the AirPort Extreme to "share a public IP address". You'll get a Double NAT message, but you can click to ignore this.

- Settings > Messages
- Settings > FaceTime
- Settings > iTunes & App Store
After doing so, your Son may create his own Apple ID, so long as he meets the minimum age requirements. Note that all purchases made up to this point are associated with your account, so he may either need to repurchase this content, or continue to utilize your account to download these past purchases.

Yes. I would clarify your statement about the "shared" iTunes Library though. If you want each iOS device to have its own music library, you should create separate user accounts for them. Read:
