Beginner  resize from fla question

I have constructed an animation in a flash fla file (i.e. pre
to generating swf) which is on a 800x 600 px canvas
For aesthetic reasons It does not work well on site at that
size and I now want to make the final swf at 400 x 300px
if I resize the canvas the layers and animation does not
scale down
is there any way to resize the whole thing - or display it
half size on the final page
it would be a pain to have to rebuild the whole thing again
from scratch - resize for every layer and every key frames, yikes!
any suggestions/ workarounds appreciated
gav

Hi,
Does your SWF include any bitmaps or any content that may be
affected with resizing? if so, you can resize your SWF from the
HTML, just write the new size instead of the old one in the SWF
size in the html.
If your SWF includes content that may be affected with
resizing such as bitmaps, then you have to go the hard way. When
you write the new document size, you will find the content are
fixed to the top left of your new size, so you will need to edit
the parts in the right and bottom of your Flash. You can use Edit
Multiple Frames (The icon in the time line bottom bar) option to
edit more than one keyframe at once, just drag the indicators to
include all the frames your want to edit. This will help alot and
reduce the needed effort to editing each keyframe.
I know how painful this problem is, but I hope this helps
alittle

  • Resize a fla

I am new to Flash 8 and am not needing to learn
everything...but, I have been trying to resize an fla for a website
    that I am building. I downloaded a few .fla's and .swf's that I
purchased at a stock photo site and now I wanted to make them
appear smaller when I put them into the website. I have tried an
online tutorial that did not work. I have tried a lot of options
    and nothing seems to work.
    Any help?
    Thanks!

you can follow the directions i gave in my previous message,
click insert/new symbol/movieclip and then paste those frames in
    your movieclip's first frame.
you can then drag that movieclip from your library to your
    main timeline and resize it.

Where can I buy a larger hard drive for my late 2008, 15" macbook pro?  From reviewing questions and answers on the support community it would appear that having Apple remove the old and install the new hard drive is recommended.  But how/where?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You can install the new hard disk yourself if you want to. You just need a 2'5" SATA II hard drive, which is compatible with your MacBook Pro. You can buy one at OWC > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/ You can filter hard drives by computer, so press a "Click to view all...", choose your computer in the sidebar and it will give you the compatible hard drives.
There are different brands for the MacBook Pro. The most recommended are HGST and Seagate, which have good reputation. A 7200 rpm hard drive will give you extra performance

  • How do I keep a Window resize from holding the CPU and temporaily interrupting the Labview application?

I am performing a data aquisition in one VI at 10000 Samples per second, then averaging 100 samples every 10 msec.  This runs in a loop and I monitor the time of the loop.  Another VI pulls the single point result of each 10 msec average and plots it to a graph.
If another window on the Windows XP operating system is re-sized the LabVIEW VI performing the Acquisition suspends until the resizing is complete and I can watch the loop time go from 10 msec to whatever time the other window is being manipulated (100, 200 300 msec...).  The resulting graphical display will then show the next averaged plot point (this is a point to point drawing) without any of the 'real' analog activity that occurred during these +10 msec interruptions (the dataq VI pulls more than 100 samples to perform the averaging).
Does anyone know how I can prevent the resizing from taking such a high priority on the CPU?  For various reasons I do not want to change my data acquisition scheme.

chrisger  says: "if you want to pass data without loss you should use a method that allows buffering of data, e.g. queues. Take a look at the LV documentation (there are several solutions, but a named queue is the easiest way to go for such sort of applications)."
Actually, one VI is running as the executable and the other is called dynamically.  The Dynamic VI uses a queuing vi common to both to access the data.  This part works well, it is the interrupt of the main vi perfoming the data aquisition that is the problem.
Because I am not using the full buffer of data, but only whatever portion is acquired and then averaged, the graphing vi essentially gets two (software timed) points and draws between them.
I realize software timing is bad, but I am kinda stuck with this scheme.  So, I want to minimize the interruption when a non-related window is re-sized.

What can I do to fix this besides bring it to the store? it also bugs me because this answer was supposed to work but it just messed my phone up even more. This has already happened once and i had to take it to the store. What should I do to fix this? Thank you so much for all answers. i really appreciate.

  • Page not resizing from center

This is really stumping me. Whenever I change the page size from the document setup, it always resizes from the center. Now, randomly, it will resize from somewhere besides center like bottom right or top left.
The only way around this that I have found is to resize each page with the Page Tool then resize my document.
    What am I missing?
    CS 6 8.0.1
    iMac Snow Leopard

That's not a feature I've tested before. Using Page Setup does appear to center pages when I enlarge page sizes (e.g., from Letter to Tabloid).
However, using the Page tool with the Liquid Layout rule Re-Center selected should do the same thing. Just use the Pages panel to select all the pages you want to change. That could be more reliable because it was specifically designed to do that.

  • System-wide window enhancements (snapping, resizing from any edge)

I've been looking around for a program to make all of my application windows snap to screen edges and other windows. Also it'd be handy if windows could be resized from any edge; perhaps while only holding a modifier key. I couldn't find one, but I did find many comments on forums and such that indicate some people would like one. So, it looks like I'll have to make one.
I'm not really sure where to start, but I'll be looking into the behaviour of Adium (its windows snap). I'm aware that this is likely to be significantly different though, as I want this to be a Preference Pane (probably) that affects windows on a system-wide basis and eventually a per-application basis.
So I guess I need to know some things:
Firstly, would snapping and multi-edge resizing be possible within programming guidelines set by Apple? (I've heard 'interesting' things about Unsanity's APE [http://unsanity.com/haxies/ape] - supposedly it doesn't adhere to the "don't touch the system files" guideline/policy.)
If not, how possible is it? I'm guessing that retro-fitting a system-wide window behaviour won't necessarily be easy. (I know possibility, as a concept, is boolean, but anything is possible. I just want to know if it can be done within reasonable time and effort constraints. Perhaps less than a few months equivalent of man-hours...)
If either or both of those are satisfied, where would one start? User Experience, Core Foundation, Scripting & Automation, Cocoa?
Lastly, if anyone else likes the sound of this and thinks they could do it, by all means, please do.
    Please and thank you.

Check out Mondo Mouse - It lets you resize any re-sizable window using a key shortcut and dragging your mouse. I have it set to the Left Command Key, and then the window will resize in whatever way I drag my mouse.
Mondo Mouse also lets you set a key to move your windows as well. I have my Left Shift Key set, and whenever I push it, the window that is underneath my mouse can be moved any way I want.
I would be very interested in knowing what kinds of haxies you've found yourself, and what they do to enhance your user experience on the Mac. I have found the need to apply several haxies to my system to make it operate in a productive way for me -- in a way that is pleasing to me.
From USB Overdrive, to Mighty Mouse, to Mondo Mouse, to aLunch, to Witch, to Shapeshifter -- with these installed, I can finally feel "at home" with my Mac.
I bought Leopard but I'm back to Tiger until Unsanity updates Mighty Mouse for it.

Did this update make a physical change? Branching from that question, will this update confuse lets say, a parent that isn't savvy?

Did this update make a physical change?
    No
will this update confuse lets say, a parent that isn't savvy?
This will depend on whether they are savvy enough to open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility on their Mac , click on the picture of the AirPort, and then click the Update button.
It that sounds too complicated, best to let someone else handle the update.

  • Exported AVI from FLA deosn't work

I exported my project from FLA into AVI format for powerpoint
presintation, but when i try open my AVI file in any video players
(windows media player, real player, dvx..etc) it doesn't wanna work
!!! Player shows that this files needs a codec or it was currapted.
I tryed to export it in different ways and still the same results.
And its sucks, because powerpoint can't play .MOV files, because i
dont have any problems to export it into quicktime move. What can i
do or what kind of codec do i need?

    Found the problem.
The lower-third has a lens flare feature. This lens flare has a black background that, for some reason, doesn't become transparent when you bring it in to FCP. (If you place an element behind it in Motion, it's fine.)
Kind of ***** because that was the main reason I like that particular template.

I think, there are so many problems that we start to build the webpage from the beginning in html 5.  Regards Marlise

It looks like you have a variety of issues here:
    1) Missing fonts. Just like with anything else, you need to have the fonts you use in a file available on the machine where you are trying to utilize that file. I'm guessing the FLA was created on a different machine than where you ran Wallaby. Wallaby is just trying to make you aware that it is changing the fonts since it couldn't access the original font on the system where it was run.
    2) Complaints about filters. At this time CSS3 doesn't support filters so these will be dropped in the FLA to HTML5 conversion. Starting with HTML5 will not help you here. You'd have to create your content in a different way in HTML5, change the content in Flash to not have filters, or just ignore the warnings in Wallaby and accept the visual differences. However, sometimes the visual differences w/o filters are too dramatic.
    3) Complaints about compiled clips. Likely because of the use of components within the FLA. Wallaby doesn't support actionscript at this time and compiled clips use actionscript. Depending on what components you are using, trying to recreate similar content in HTML5 from scratch may be difficult.
    4) Complaints about tween color transforms. These are effectively filters and fall in the same bucket as #2 above.
    5) Complaints about dynamic masks. This first release of Wallaby only works with static non-moving content in masks.
    6) Complaints about audio. This first release of Wallaby doesn't support sound.
We are actively working on a new release of Wallaby and will continue to add more features to make the transition from FLA to HTML5 easier.

Hi. I am reinstalling Macbook Pro OS X from the "question mark icon". During process, there is a question "select the disk where to install Mac OS X" but there is no option/selection in the box. I really need your help guys. I need it badly. :'(

If you got the question mark and you do not see any partition to install OS X to, it is not good.
Close the OS X installer by pressing the red button at the top left corner of the Install OS X window, and open Disk Utility. Then, look at the left sidebar and tell me if you see your hard drive. You should see something like this:
Do not worry if you do not see Macintosh HD or if the option with an arrow shows a different name. This is normal.
If you see it, choose it, go to the Erase tab and erase the drive. Finally, close Disk Utility and reinstall OS X. You will lose everything if you do not have a backup.
If you do not see the drive, it is damaged and it has to be replaced. You can replace the hard drive of a MacBook Pro without voiding the warranty, and any 2'5" SATA hard drive is valid. If you are not an experienced user or you do not want to go inside the MacBook, take it to an Apple Store or reseller.

  • Swf-fla question

i made a fla a while back with a little animated navigational
aid, which because my scripting skills are so poor, was quite
tedious to program. now i need to edit it but i've lost the fla.
can flash convert the swf back into a fla?
    any suggestions?
    thanks,
    macron

thanks for running it through your program. it's interesting,
the layer names don't look the same as i remember, and it seems as
if it put each invisible button on its own layer, whereas i had
them on one. and the text shows up as question marks. it did
retrieve the animation script though, which i was dreading having
to rebuild from scratch. that's terrific. i'll take a look at
    so-think. thanks for the advice.
    much obliged,

  • Creating .swf from .fla file using ADT command line

    Dear Adobe Community and Moderators:
Is it possible to use the ADT command line to directly compile an .fla file into an .swf file? Context: I have an app created in Flash Pro CS55 (6 months worth of work), but now found Adobe has dropped Flash Pro in favor of Flash Builder or Flex. I have some native extensions I want to use for iOS, but they require Air 3.1 to compile (swf-version=14) i.e. using the MessageUI framework in a static .a library for an Air app. Flash Pro CS55's top end limit seems to be swf-version=13 (Flash 11). Because of heavy investment in time and energy into our Air app in Flash Pro, it's not feasible to convert to Flex by end of week. I tried creating an .swc file, and taking the library.swf from that, but alas, a catch-22, Flash Pro CS55 only compiles to swf-version=13.
Is there any way to either (a) directly compile my root .swf file (from the .fla file) using a command line (so I can use ADT from Air 3.1 SDK) or (b) some way I can marry a native extension I've found I can use on GitHub which is swf-version=14? Again, my issue is that I have to use Air 3.1 since only it supports iOS5.
Any thoughts, suggestions, comments are highly appreciated (including if it's not possible to do what I'm trying to do).
Thank you Adobe community in advance,
    Alex

I have the exact same question, please respond if you hold the answer to this! mxmlc won't work for me since I have created too many assets within the fla already! Thanks!
