Beginner Training

I am new to Adobe. I have subscribed to Creative Cloud, PhotoShop, Bridge and LightRoom. Where can I find introductory trainning?
Thank you

  • Beginner training resources

    Greetings RoboHelpers,
I've recently downloaded a trial copy of RoboHelp 9 and am just trying to get oriented. My help production system is currently based on Frame 8 and Quadralay WebWorks, so at least I have some single-sourcing experience.
I've been plowing through the product help, but as the "Getting Started" section doesn't actually seem to provide much meaningful assistance in terms of ... well, actually "getting started", I was wondering if there's not some basic resource somewhere that would walk one through setting up a project, mapping styles and generating some basic output, etc. to start getting a feel for the product.
I dabbled with RoboHelp years back prior to the Adobe aquisition - it certainly seems to be vastly more extensive compared to those early days. In particular, I'm hoping that RoboHelp is more customization-friendly than WebWorks, which I've been finding to be too kludgey and brittle in many respects. I appreciate any tutorial suggestions anyone might have, as well as any input w/respect to the whole WebWorks v. RoboHelp question!
    Cheers, Brian S.

There's also a bunch of stuff on Peter Grainge's website (grainge.org) and Rick's RoboWizard site (robowizard.com).

  • My Spry Accordion will not work In IE but will in Opera

    Hi Everyone,
I'm having a problem with my accordion spry widget in a website that I'm working on. Bear in mind theres's a lot of things to fix but it's in the initial stages. What happens is, if you go under the heading, business and then training you will see an FAQ section. You'll notice that the tabs are all open and it's just not functioning correctly in IE, Chrome and Firefos but it is working in Chrome. (I Haven't tried in Safari as my computer freezes ??) I've included the link and code below.
    Thanks

You not are using the latest Spry files
The latest  version of the Adobe Spry Framework is 1.6.1, this is the same version  that ships with Dreamweaver CS4. If you use Dreamweaver CS3 (uses Spry  1.4), its wise to upgrade your files to the latest version. This can  easily be done using the Spry Updater that can be found here.
    If you replace
    <script src="http://www.adelxt.net/SpryAssets/SpryAccordion.js" type="text/javascript">
    with
    <script src="http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/widgets/accordion/SpryAccordion.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
you will notice that it works as it should.

  • How to use same object in another vi file.

Hi i am new to OOP in labview.
How to use (ACCESS) same Object in multiple VI fiels in labview.
in c# if we use same name space , then we can acces the object .
i dont know how to use it in labview.
and also i need to know , how to use oop in large applications

Well LVOOP tries to be this...
And the Actor Framework tries to be this... Using some of LabVIEW's object oriented components.
You can have LVOOP without Actor Framework, but you can't have the Actor Framework without LVOOP.  You can however have other actor based designs without LVOOP but honestly few go this route because classes help force the developer to work inside the constructs of the design.
Also quit yelling so much.  And before you try taking on LabVIEW's object oriented designs (and Actor for crying out loud) I'd suggest taking some beginner training which can be found at the bottom of this page.

  • DBA Training for Beginner

    Hi All,
I have worked as a Sr.Oracle Developer so far, I have done 8i and 9i DBA OCP certifications. Now my company gave an opportunity to work as an administrator, and also offered to go for DBA training. I need your
suggestion in choosing the DBA training courses, and also what all things I should get prepared before attending this training. Any suggestion that you could share or give would definitely help me.
    Thanks

Why you are looking for DBA training as a beginner when you are already certified in 8i,9i tracks? Going with that, you should be already knowing what a DBA needs to do and all what you should be going for is not a training but to look for the New Features guides for releases 10g, 11g and since yesterday, even for 12c .

  • Anyone know of Acrobat 8 training on forms and interactivity (not beginner)

Does anyone know of any good professional training videos for Mac users?
I've been searching for some really good online videos (free or paid, as long as they are good!) particularly for creating complex forms with lots of interactivity. Most of the training videos I'm finding is reither low level, introductory stuff, or it's for the whole of Acrobat (ie digital signatures, workflow, etc, which I don't need).
I'm looking to produce highly interactive forms, from designed pdfs, for trainees to use and then save their work (in Reader). I've searched but most stuff seems to be for PC users.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer...

Actually, Acrobat 9 will probably be better. Acrobat forms are mature, having been around since Acrobat 3. Though there are some features (mostly relating to JavaScript) that have been added or enhanced over the years, a great deal is backwards compatible. Just be glad you're on a Mac and won't be tempted to use LiveCycle Designer. There are compatibility issues galore and the learning curve is considerably longer and steeper. I can easily create a form in Acrobat 9 that will work as far back as Acrobat 4. The biggest compatibility issues you'll come across will be related to the ways certain JavaScript features have been modified or disallowed in certain contexts due to security restrictions, but these are usually well documented in the Acrobat JavaScript Reference.
Adding document rights to forms is an important feature of Acrobat 8 and 9. It allows you to set up a form that allows certain functionality in Reader that Reader is not otherwise capable of, such as saving a completed form. Acrobat 8 has some forward compatibility issues, so I'd say Acrobat 9 is currently your best bet.
As I mentioned, the forms authoring interface changed considerably with Acrobat 9, and not necessarily for the better, but it's what we've got. The change to setting the tab order is my personal pet-peeve. They removed the way it was done with Acrobat 3-8 and replaced it with something I find tedious and  somewhat buggy. A lot of forms developers keep older versions around so they can modify them using the old tools, as they are sometimes better. So the recomendation of Acrobat 9 was in part because the tutorials you find are likely to be done using Acrobat 9 and not older versions. I still do a lot of forms authoring in Acrobat 7, but not for compatibility reasons.

  • Training Videos Not Accessible

    Hi,
I just got to come across these training videos and when I
click on the links, a new window opens up but only keeps showing
the message "loading player". I suppose the loading should not take
    more than few mins.
Can someone please tell me if this requires some specific

    Thanks,

I got that a few hours ago .. the server appeared to be down
    for awhile.
It's working now .. you might try again.

  • Best CS4 online training

    Hi everyone,
I am new to CS4 but have just purchased photoshop, dreamweaver, Illustrator, etc...because I want to create a website from scratch.
I have built websites before using front-end applications but have never had full access to the source code on my PC.
I have quite a bit of HTML knowledge, but I am an absolute beginner at CS4 products.
I have used some of the training videos on this website but I find they aren't quite enough for an absolute beginner; there are missing pieces and I find it hard to put it all together given my limited knowledge.
Can anybody recommend good online training resources for beginners? I have looked at www.linda.com but I'm not sure how much better it would be to pay $375.00 per year for access to the training videos when many of the same vidoes are available on the adobe website free.
I would greatly appreciate any recommendations
    thanks

I have yet to be impressed with any one training program that does it all.  Photoshop and Illustrator are sophisticated graphics apps.  Dreamewaver is a sophisticated Web authoring tool.  That said, if you have a good knowledge of HTML and CSS and how these two things work together in the various browser, you are 75% ahead on the "DW learning curve."   There are many on-line tutorials to help you.  A Google search for tutorials in PhotoShop and Illustrator will reveal many sites.
Don't bite off more than you can chew at a time.  Focus on one application.  When that starts to gel, move on to the others. Following are links to web-related sites that you should reference and bookmark.

  • Business One Training

I am looking for support on Business One. I will be starting a new job in 2 weeks that my new company is currently using Business One. I want to be prepared and looking for information on the program. My experience in SAP is with a Fortune 15 company which used SAP.I have researched the internet and only see the same tutorials on Business One. Any help is appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Marc

Hello Marc - welcome to the world of SAP B1.
A few outside references/books you might want to get ahold of:
    1.  Introduction to SAP Business One by Robert Mayerhofer.
    2.  SAP Business One Implementation by Wolfgang Niefert.
You can also go to Amazon and look at some reviews done there.
    http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_1_16?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=sapbusinessone&sprefix=sapbusinessone
If you are going to do any work with Crystal Reports, then try to find Crystal Reports Beginner Level Training DVDs by The Orchestra Team (they have some great videos on You Tube also).  A good book is No Stress Tech Guide to Business Objects Crystal Reports 2008 by Dr Murphy.
The Business One to Go from SAP is really a great guide (as already suggested) but please make sure you get the proper version - 2007 or 8.8...
If you are coming from a Fortune company (as I also did), be prepared to cover a whole lot of ground.  You were probably working with the SAP R3 ERP system and there is a world of difference between R3 and SAP B1.  After 5 years in SAP B1, I am pretty happy with all of the new things learned in SAP B1 because there are so many nuances which are easily overlooked.  But your experience with a Fortune company will come in very handily with the "big" picture outlook...
If you are going to be working in an IT technical role or have supervision over IT technical functions, send me a note using the info on my business card and I can help direct you to a good site for IT in a small company that covers much, much more than just SAP.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions in the forum as this is probably the best place to get answers, and there are quite a few great people here willing to help...
Good luck and take care - Zal

  • Beginner in SD

I have been taking training in SD for the last one yr. I spend almost six hrs on the system everyday and constantly learning. But I don't know how to land in the first job without any experience in US. Any suggestions for a beginner in this module. If anybody give your emails for providing suggestions I would be really thankful as I am desperate to get out into the field.
    thanks,
    SV

    Dear SV
If I have to tell honestly, I should ask you why you are so firm to get a job in US and that too without any domain experience.  It is very difficult to get a job even in India, if you don't have domain experience in the respective module as for as SAP is concerned.
So what I would suggest you is that first try to get an entry, learn the practical issues coming over there, try to solve on yourself and over a period of time, you will be familiar with those issues you handled.  Once you gain some practical knowledge, then you can try for abroad.
    thanks

  • Beginner in need of book recommendation

I'm a beginner to CS3 Flash and in need of book or tutorial
recommendations. I have the Flash "Classroom in a Book" and it's
been somewhat helpful. However, a lot of what I want to do, is
import parts of a collage print from CS3 photoshop and animate
them. I am having problems with importing layers from Photoshop and
animating these layers in Flash. Are there any books or tutorials
that go into more detail on this aspect of flash? The other book
that I'm thinking about is Peachpit's Adobe Flash CS3 Professional
    Hands-On Training. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,

Yes, the question makes perfect sense.
Fireworks is a graphics program. The HTML that Fireworks
produces is intended for prototypes - quick examples you can show
people to see if you're on the right track with a design. The
Fireworks HTML is not robust enough to use for a production site.
What you want to do is use either a program that's designed for
creating robust HTML (such as Dreamweaver) or learn to write HTML
by hand in a text editor. It isn't really that hard.
What you have now is a mess. It would be impossible to
maintain. Just looking at your file info%20links.HTML is a
nightmare. It doesn't need to look like that...and it shouldn't.
(Also, naming conventions. That %20 is what happens to spaces in
your file name. It's better to remove spaces or use hyphens
instead. Underscores are okay, but they tend to get lost if a file
name is also a link and becomes underlined. Use lowercase for file
    extensions.)
Even if you have Dreamweaver or another Web authoring
program, you really ought to learn what it is you're doing. Check
    out
    this
    earlier thread for some recommendations.
    Good luck!

  • Training course recommendations in UK?

    Hi,
Firstly, I'm aware this probably isn't the best place to be posting about training course, but didn't rally think it fitted anywhere else.
My company have asked if I would like to go on a Web Development course. Obviously I said YES!
But now I am tasked with working out what would be the most useful things to learn and where?
I would class myself as a great graphic designer / beginner to better than average web designer. The type of things they would like my to be able to implement is online surveys, gather customer information, customer databases and so forth. Basically I would be implementing the marketing departments, well, marketing!
So I thought I should be looking at PHP & SQL? Maybe some XML? What would others say? Also I'm looking for a reliable company, any suggestions?
Ideally in the Bristol, Gloucestershire or Birmingham area, however London would be fine.

I'm the instructor for the Dreamweaver CS4 - Getting Started three-day course offered by Highlander (http://highlander.co.uk), an Adobe authorized training centre. I normally teach at Highlander's training centre in London, but also do training off base (in February, I taught a course in Leeds). The course I teach is described as "designed for those with no previous experience of webpage / application development". As a result, it starts from the basics, but gets into quite advanced territory by the end of the three days, particularly if participants already have a reasonable knowledge of web development (as many of them do).
Highlander also offers a PHP/MySQL course. Although I specialize in PHP/MySQL, the course is not taught by me. However, Highlander has discussed the possibility of me doing a more advanced Dreamweaver course that includes PHP/MySQL. Offering such a course would depend on sufficient people signing up for it. You might want to ask your company to inquire about arranging such a course, even though it's not currently listed on the training schedule (the person to contact is the Managing Director, Andy Gardiner).
In case you don't know who I am, I'm an Adobe Certified Instructor for Dreamweaver and the author of a series of books on Dreamweaver, PHP, and MySQL (http://foundationphp.com).
Of course, there are other training companies in the UK that others might be able to recommend.

  • Is Flex 4 Training from the source any better than Adobe's own Using Flex 4?

I am preparing for the Flex 4 ACE exam from Using Flex 4. Is there a good reason for me to switch to the training from the source book?

Firstly note that F4TFS is in 2 parts, and although part 2 appears to have been published at the end of 2010, AFAIK it appears to be unavailable right now. I have read F3TFS, and am going through F4TFS at the moment. Using Flex 4, available free as a 32Mb PDF, is a very useful reference, along with the 12 or so other Flex books available free from Adobe. While Using Flex 4 is a reference (including plenty of example code), F3/4TFS is structured as a series of lessons, working on the same project (Flex Grocer shopping cart app) throughout. It touches on most aspects of Flex development, and is a great guide for beginners. If I have one criticism of the book, it is that a shopping cart example is going to be inherently dull- so if you have a low boredom threshold you will have to force yourself through the examples. I would still recommend it as a beginner's book, although in the real world you are unlikely to be using Design Mode much, except for throw-away prototypes. If you have a project you want to get started on right away, then you could just wade in and start coding using the Adobe documentation for help, but if you'd like to have an existing example, then F4TFS is for you.
When learning Flex its best to read as much as possible, so I'd widen your reading if possible to include the Flex 4 Bible, AdvancED Flex 4, Enterprise Development with Flex, etc, and the absolute shedloads of blog posts and examples on the internet.

From your description it sounds like your course is made up of several different project files, each of which has a quiz at the end, correct?
Self-paced learning option only applies separately within each module.  So if you have several different modules, self-paced learning won't do what you want.
If your modules are all separate then you need some other method of locking participants out of sections they have not as yet reached.  This is something that LMSs can do and that's why I asked if you had one.
