Beginner WM Setup

My company has used SAP for a couple years now and is looking into WM. So I am in the initial stages of setting up the WM module. Having created the Warehouse Number, Storage Type, Storage Section and Storage Bins, I'm now having difficutly adding material to those storage bins.
I would like to be able to add a material to one of my newly created storage bins and then transfer it to another storage bin.
I know this is a very basic question, but I'm stuck and not really sure where to start.

Beginner Question - Book/Magazine Setup CS2

Hi
How would I setup a multiple-page InDesign document like a book or a magazine so that when I send it to the local printer (on 11 x 17 paper), the page numbers are in order? I have been having a hard time figuring this out because I have been designing as layout spreads so that I can see the actual pages side by side.
Is there a way to do this without "make a book by hand. Take some paper and fold the book. after doing that, put the page numbers on the book. This is your template." - which is the advice I got from another forum. I just want to double check and see if there are any other options as I will need to add pages and take away pages throughout the process and making a mock-up hard copy will not work for what I am doing as - I am unsure of the final page count.

Reading the above, I think you aren't sending it to a commercial printer....
Your version of CS2 may or may not have come with InBooklet. Later versions of CS2 were released without the InBooklet plugin (Quark bought it somewhere around that time, I think).
So, if you have it, you're in luck. It will impose the pages for you. If not, you will have to make your booklet pages manually, in which case it will be a much more labour-intensive task. Exporting to PDF and creating a new file with the will likely be the easiest method. You could also try something like this: http://www.quite.com/imposing/ which has a trial version.

Beginner Q: Which context.xml to place the DataSource setup?

I originally place the Resource specificaiton in TOMCAT_HOME/conf/context.xml. My demo app works fine. I then experiment to move that section to My_App/Meta-inf/context.xml. Later, I need to uninstall and re-install Java and Tomcat. Then I run into to the problem in my demo http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5299262
I finally restore the resource section in TOMCAT_HOME/conf/context.xml to make my demo working again. From this explaination of Context (http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-6.0-doc/config/context.html), my understanding is that placing the resource in My_App/Meta-inf/context.xml should be better for deployment purpose. I am not understanding the need to placing resource in conf/context.xml.
Is there any tutorial that will explain this context concept? I would like to see different setup in the path and docbase.

Beginner needing help with servlet setup

im trying to setup a simple servlet but it seems that my html page will not invoke the java servlet. perhaps it is due to the location of the servlet class, is there a special directory to store the servlet in? or will storing it in the same dir as the html page suffice? Im using j2ee application server here is the html code im using:

WEB-INF\classes folder
then u should map this class with the urlpattern in the web.xml file
u can invoke the servlet only with url pattern ur giving in the web.xml

How to setup Final Cut to preivew on HD TV (beginner question)

FINAL CUT NEWBIE HERE...
I just got a new Mac Pro and the new Final Cut studio. I'm trying to figure out the best way to set everything up. I've been watching a lot of the videos on Apple's website about the new features and the "In action" videos.
One thing I'm confused about is how you are able to preview in HD on a HD Television while you're editing like in this screen shot:

The only way I'm aware of to preview on a Television is to have a Firewire cable go through some sort of analog converter and then hook up to the tv... BUT this obviously wouldn't be showing in HD format.
So, is there a way to simultaneously preview your project in HD on an HD television while you're editing, while still keeping the standard preview window open on your computer monitor? What plugs into what? Anything to do with the ProRes codec?
As you can see, I'm a little lost. Any help would be appreciated Thanks in advance!

One way is to get a Blackmagic Intensity card for your computer. A bit less than $200. It is
a poor mans output monitor for HD. It is clean, neat and trouble free. It also gives you TV
output for Photoshop, Motion, and many other applications. It connects by HDMI.
You might get some other suggestions here as the pros have been working with this issue
for a long time.

Initial setup problems and beginner code questions ...please help?

Two days ago i started playing around with Java but it has been one pitfall after another for me. I am a visually impaired user, the fun started when i wanted to install the JDK. I think i got EE 5.0 by mistake, but that doesnt even bother me that much. The installer somehow managed to totally elude the screenreader I was using and I needed sighted help to get the thing installed. I think something went wrong with the environment variables during that process because when I first tried compiling a snippet of code it couldn't find Javac. I had to enter:
c:\sun\sdk\jdk\bin\javac.exe c:\saluton.java
to get anything done. I have been trying to learn java using a three-year old copy of teach yourself Java in 24 hours, which might explain my following questions. Here is the code snippet i got from the first chapter:

This code didn't compile, complaining about Cannot find symbol.
I took out another book, Learning Java, and i got the following code out of this:

c:/sun/sdk/jdk/bin/java.exe HelloJava it said the class couldn't be found. I am assuming this has to do with the .class file not being in the folder where it should be, but again I don't know.
I got the JAB (java access bridge) but I had the feeling the info that came with it is rather outdated ...could someone give me some insight on this as well?

Using your help I've been able to find the error in the saluton mondo program, the caps of the String in the main function declaration was wrong. I have set my Path to the right setting now, and javac and java behave as they should now which is good.
What about my question about the access bridge? How do i use it, exactly? (just telling me where that info can be found is enough really) I'm really confused by all the different .jar files and such ...
Also, once it is installed do i need to somehow ...activate it or reference it in my code to make my apps readable? I would like to see if my program did what I wanted it to do so yeah ...

CS4 Upgrade setup error

I bought Adobe CS3 Design Premium Student edition fairly late on and applied for a upgrade and have The Adobe CS4 Design premium upgrade. When I went to install I accidentally closed the folder where the setup application was on the DVD, but the loading circle came up and now everytime I re try to install this message comes up "Setup encountered an error and cannot continue, Contact Adobe Customer Support for assistance" right at the start when it has Checking System profile.
I have contacted Adobe Customer Support via telephone, but they only told me to copy contents of disk to desktop and try but this didn't work. Also wen to various Mac experts who said best to go to Adobe because they didn't knwo that much about Adobe installers.
I have a MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB Ram running OSX 10.5.6.

As for Collaboration...some people do NOT have CS3 to use "Just In Case"...all they HAVE is CS4...so what then? Are they screwed? NO...you use the Export command. You pick your poison...InDesign CS3 Interchange or InDesign Markup or EPS or PDF whatever. I'm thinking Adobe understands collaboration slightly better than you. You do realize, some people came to the Adobe table late...they have not ALWAYS had Adobe products to use. Keep that in mind when doling out your "advice".
PS will open PS files. ILL will open ILL files. The only one you really need to take care with is Fireworks CS4 files when sending to a Fireworks CS3 user.
If for some unknown reason, a person has issues installing CS3 after CS4 is installed, they can pick an alternative location such as /Users/<username>/Applications. However, since I've never had an issue doing such a thing, I can't see why someone would either.
You can't use a silent installer to install CS3 after CS4 because it's not smart enough to realize that Adobe Acrobat 9 supersedes 8 and will thus fail.
Now....what were you saying about not being able to install CS3 unless CS4 is uninstalled? That statement is untrue. See the screenshots for your answer.

Beginner installing SQL Server 2014 for Excel Data Mining

Hello, I'm a complete beginner with servers but Im desperately trying to gain access to the SQL server for use with the data mining addin for excel.
Could someone please help. When I try to make a connection in Excel by choosing DATA MINING> <No Connection> New> it then asks me for a Server Name in the connect to Analysis Services box. How can I find out what my Sever name is please? I have
tried all sorts of names that I have found such as SQLEXPRESS or localhost but nothing works. It also tells me to 'Ensure that the Server is running'. Another error message I receive: No connection can be
made because 'the target machine actively refused it'.
I would be really grateful for some troubleshooting tips.

How to setup a document for tabloid and letter printing?

I need to make a brochure. It is 4 pages. We need it for two different end products:
1) Printed onto double-sided 11 x 17 tabloid in a landscape orientation. It will then be folded in the middle (so a 4 page brochure).
2) A 4-page 8.5 x 11 PDF, for clients to print out themselves.
I originally had a 2 page tabloid document (no facing pages). It worked great when I sent it to our printers, but I couldn't PDF it properly to 8.5 x 11. What I ended up doing was making a brand new 8.5 x 11 document, then laying out each individual letter-sized page.
When changes are required, I have to make changes to both documents, which is annoying and open to error/mistakes from me (e.g. change in one document not in the other).
Is there any way I can have a single document setup so that I only need to change output/export/print settings when making my two different end products?
My skill level in InDesign is beginner, so alot of terminology is beyond me.

Did you know that you can place an InDesign document into another InDesign document?
Start with your letter-size version, and make sure it's up-to-date. Save it, close it, then start a new empty tabloid document. Go to File -> Place and place the four pages of your letter-size document into your tabloid document.
When you need to update both docs, then make the text changes in the lettersize doc. Save and close, then open up the tabloid doc and update the links. In fact, unless you've changed the way your install of ID is set up, then the moment you open the tabloid doc, it should ask you if you want to update your out-of-date links.

Setting Host Name in setup

I just purchased OSX Server from the MAS. I'm a rank beginner when it comes to networking and servers and hosts, so please bear with me.
One of the first steps in setting up the server asks me to name my host through (a) local network, (b) private network, or (c) Internet. I understand the difference between local and internet but I'm not sure that I want to transfer a domain name I already own from my remote host to my local server.
In the future I'd like to host my own domain on my home Mac as it's a very low key site with very little usage. I'd like to be able to set it up so users outside my home would have access to various parts over the Internet.
My question is: If I initially set things up locally, is it possible to change it to Internet at a future date if I change my mind?
Bonus question: Is there an Apple or 3rd party book or PDF available that goes into the setup and ongoing administration of OSX Server? I don't like hopping back and forth from one local window to the online Apple documentation.

[Solved] installation and setup question - gummiboot and EFI

Hi,
This is the first time i'm installing arch. i hit the below issues. hope someone can help me out. my understanding of uefi is just about an hour worth of reading or less..
(the wiki didn't mention the kernel requirement when I started installing it... now it does and i updated the beginner's guide wiki post.)
Problem
Gummiboot#Installing says that "If you are still running kernel 3.7 or have not booted in EFI mode, creating the boot entry will fail. You should however still be able to boot gummiboot as it copies the binary to the default EFI binary location on your ESP (/boot/EFI/BOOT/BOOTX64.EFI on x64 systems). "
the gummiboot part fails. gummiboot gives this error at install saying file system is not FAT EFI, so first I got gummiboot and gummiboot-efi both using pacman. then, I provided the --path to install and now it coughs up because the latest iso isn't 3.8 yet.
Failed to access EFI variables. Is the "efivarfs" filesystem mounted?
I can see efivars but this is asking for efivarfs.
so instead I did,
# cp /usr/lib/gummiboot/gummibootx64.efi /boot/efi/EFI/gummiboot/gummiboot.efi
# efibootmgr -c -d /dev/sda -p 1 -w -L "Gummiboot" -l '\EFI\gummiboot\gummiboot.efi'
how do I set this up? I'm afraid if I overwrite /boot/efi/EFI/BOOT/BOOTX64.EFI windows might not boot.
after the installation (of course without gummiboot stuff) now when I reboot, I don't see any gummiboot menu at all because i didn't copy it to EFI/BOOT. it goes straight to windows 8 boot. during boot if I press F12 and see the menu option on thinkpad, I see gummiboot as the first entry(must be because of efibootmgr) followed by windows boot manager. When I select the gummiboot and enter, it just circles back to the same menu. I have setup the loader.conf and arch.conf as described in the wiki.
how do I set gummiboot to work? i dont mind pressing F12 and then going to gumiboot-> arch until 3.8 is out.
If this isn't possible, can I install rEFInd without messing gummiboot? looking at the dir structure of FAT EFI I think it should be possible but not 100% sure until i try it out. Also, to get rid of gummiboot, i should delete the directories, uninstall using pacman and get rid of the efibootmgr change I made, right?

In Linux, partitions (or more precisely, the filesystems that most of them contain) are accessed by mounting them at a mount point (a directory). Thus, when you mount the ESP at /boot, the contents of /boot are the ESP. Put another way, mounting the ESP at /boot means that to read or write the ESP, you read or write files and directories under /boot. You can test this yourself by mounting and unmounting a partition that's not basic to the minute-to-minute functioning of the computer. The ESP will actually work fine for this. Unmount it from /boot or /boot/efi and then issue a mount command to mount it elsewhere (say, "mount /dev/sda1 /mnt"). Then check the files under your temporary mount point, and even copy a file there. You can then unmount it and mount it back where you normally do and look for the file you copied -- it should be there. Play with this until you fully grok it.
Gummiboot runs before Linux, and it has no conception of Linux mount points. Thus, whether you mount the ESP at /boot, at /boot/efi, at /home/fred/abadmountpointforanesp is irrelevant, so long as the files on the ESP are laid out in the way that gummiboot expects. The trickiest aspect of this for those unfamiliar with the Linux mount system is that you do not include the Linux mount point in filename references for pre-boot programs like gummiboot. That is, if you mount the ESP at /boot and place the kernel at /boot/vmlinuz, then in gummiboot, the kernel would be \vmlinuz.
Yeah, I figured this out based on the OP's response to that and thinking it through, I just never really thought about it much before now. But I will argue that the mount point /boot and the EFI partition are indeed 2 different locations. I know that once the ESP is mounted at /boot that this distinction disappears until it is umounted and something written to /boot, but while mounted as such, /boot and ESP are virtually the same, at least to the Linux system. I realize the EFI programs are ran before any OS and therefore don't really care about any OS specifics.
I wonder if the OP has confused the info between gummiboot and rEFInd (possibly from the Beginners Guide) because to me, after reading the gummiboot wiki, it just seems that it would be much simpler to just give gummiboot what it wants, i.e. ESP mounted at /boot, whether it's a separate partion or not. I'll have to take a look again at the Beginners Guide to see again the order of things there, but if it isn't, maybe it should be having the user ensure that pacman has completely updated the new system and then go on to the boot loader specifics. I was just thinking though, that the way the install medium is now, that it was automatically pulling the latest stuff down as part of the install process. I know it's not pulling testing or multilib without user intervention, but the core, stable stuff it is. That seems to be part of the confusion here maybe, 2 different versions of gummiboot with gummiboot changing some things between the 2 and maybe the kernels, too.
[EDIT] I took another look at the Beginner's Guide and it says that most users will probably want to use the [core], [extra], and [community] repos, which are enabled by default. It goes on to recommend that [multilib] be enabled for users wanting to run 32 bit programs and then reminds you to run #pacman -Sy to update the package lists, but not #pacman -Syu which would apply any changes from the repos since starting the install. Shouldn't matter much, even if the [multilib] repo was enabled because at that point no 32 bit libs have been installed, but it would matter if a user decided to enable the testing repos.
I wouldn't ordinarily recommend it, but in this case, if the OP is comfortable with the risk, then it might be useful to, at least temporarily, enable the [testing] repo and do #pacman -Syu to pull in the 3.8 kernel. Note that this is likely to also pull in other packages from [testing], but if you haven't installed X yet or any desktop environment, then what is pulled in shouldn't be too overwhelming. He can then immediately go back and disable [testing] if desired. I'm currently using testing without any issues, but there are risks to doing so.

Beginner Flex2 / AS3 question

I am a beginner by all respects and have decided to develop
an FTP via browser application for my company website in my free
time. Before I buy a few Flex 2 and Actionscript books for myself
and dive in, I figured it might be smart to ask the community if
its even possible or recommended.
Can you (should you) use Flex2 / AS3 as the basis for a drag
and drop .ftp through browser application? If so, feel free to
advise me on any Flex packages or methods to use as a basis and I
can place emphasis on that in my learning.

recreating something on my own but for something on that magnitude

obviously if your not using PHP you can change the server side
around to reflect your needs but the source there has already
tackled some of the major issues of a(n) FTP client in Flex. One of
the biggest ones is with sockets you don't know when it's full so
you constantly need to clear it. However if you were to use the
FileReference classes (based on HTTP protocol) your going to need
to configure your server to allow large buffer sizes for files to
be uploaded as well as setup long timeouts. The other drawback is
using sockets theres no way to create a true progress of what's
been done. Just my two cents. Hope this helps.

How do you setup adobe audition 3.0 to record vocal?

hi,
I just bought some equipment for recording vocal but have no idea how to setup adobe audition 3.0 to actually pickup sound from my mic.
So i have my microphone connecting to the interface which connects to my computer.
Microphone: Audio Technica AT2020 XLR cord
Interface: M-Audio Fast Track Pro USB connection
The M-Audio fast track pro CD was useless, it said it wouldnt install on my Vista 32bit so I just downloaded the vista 32bit driver which worked perfect. I also downloaded the ASIO4ALL v2 driver since my computer only has an intergrated soundcard. (Realtek High Definition Audio, Screaming Bee Audio) I dont know why there is 2. But i have no idea how to get audition working and pick up sound. I went into audio hardware setup and clicked the ASIO4ALL v2 driver in Edit view tab, multitrack view and surround encoder but still no sound picked up. Ill post up some pictures of how it looks. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

I also tried choosing the M-Audio USB ASIO option but it wont let me
sorry for being so stupid, I'm a beginner to all this and is still learning so please don't be too harsh on me.

I use a different model of M-Audio interface so I don't know if this applies to the Fast Track Pro, but...
I've noticed that mine can be fussy about the order of power up and if I boot the computer then connect the interface, Windows doesn't always detect it's presence. I now have a switch on procedure that I follow without thinking: I turn on the audio interface, make sure it's connected to the PC and only then boot the PC. This seems to make sure the M-Audio device is always detected.
Although I have Asio4All installed, I just use the M-Audio drivers. Make sure the drivers you want are selected in the Audio Hardware setup window, then go through and then select your inputs in Edit and Multitrack windows.
