Beginners luck needed!

hi all - got my new ibook last week - nice:-)
However, in order to access the discussion forum i have to click on the appropriate link and while the web page is loading i have to press escape - otherwise it just freezes! Can someone tell me what's going on? Also, I cannot access any of the help articles at http://www.apple.com/support/tiger/internet/. It just hangs up?!?!! Any advice welcome

How are you connecting to the internet at the moment?
Do you use any internet related software on your iBook such as Norton or Intego (or something else)?
The more details the better
Another handy thing to check is whether Safari works normally in another user account. This will help us to know whether your problem is local to your account or system wide. If you don't have another account you can use System Preferences -> Accounts -> [+] to create a test one (and [-] to remove it if needed)
In the meantime (if you haven't already) you might want to get a backup browser such as Firefox for when these problems happen - I'm guessing you've already done this if you're posting here but on the offchance you're using another machine...

Usually what most people do is creat a folder named "iPod photos" in the "My Picture" folder or the folder containing all photos.
They do this so they can add and delete photos from the ipod as needed. You put what you want on the ipod in the folder, then when you want to remove a photo from ipod you just pull it out of the "ipod photo" folder and back into the main "My Pics" folder

Hang Time...was it beginners luck??

About 6 weeks ago, I got some great advice from Hang Time regarding 'syncing up' Garageband with I-Movie. I got both I-Movie and Garageband recording and performed a 'hand clap' (audio spike) which showed up on both programs. I then dragged the I-Movie track onto Garageband's Movie Track, lined up the audio spikes and bingo... perfect sync. Hang Time... do you think I can get it to work now??? Not a hope. Very frustrating. I simply CANNOT get the audio spikes to line up. I've tried starting GB first, then immediately starting I-Movie. I've tried it the other way around too. I've tried 'creating a new project' in I-Movie, NOT creating a new project etc. No matter what I do I cannot get the audio spikes to 'line up'. One spike plays before the other. What am I missing (besides a brain?). Thanks.

One last comment today Hang. I also have Logic Pro which is a fabulous program. I think Garage Band is a poor choice of a name because it too is a killer program. Garage Band sounds kinda cheap. I know there are lots of people out there who haven't tried GB perhaps because they are unaware of just how amazing (and powerful) the program is. What I truly love about GB is how seamlessly it integrates with my Logic Pro. Just a dream tandem!!! There are many, many things that you might be trying to do, especially since Oracle has a lot of product and technology.
Please describe what the 'Oracle Stuff' s that you want to learn and we might be able to advise you.
For example, you might want to manage a database, or write some database programs, or simply get reports from a system. Or you might be trying to use an Oracle application such as financials or human resources.
Each of these things will lead you to different documentation or books.

Extremely Long Render Times!! Please help!!

Let me start off by saying I am new to premier, forums, and video editing for the most part.
My content comes from (2) GoPro Hero 4 cameras set at 4k and a Sony FDR-AX100, also set at 4k.
MY PROBLEM (well hopefully the one you can help me with)
I import the content into Premier Pro CC 2014 (which is all up to date) applying color correction, fades, and titles. When I try to playback the files even with all effects turned off my computer will not do it. I need to first render preview files. So I select my in and out points and try to render but it takes, DAYS to complete. For example: A 3 minute selection on the timeline will take 70 hours to render the preview files. After it renders, I make a few more adjustments and let my computer render for a few more days.
I must be doing something wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
MY SETUP:
I use the Nvidia CUDA architecture as my playback engine in Premier.
Premier is installed on my internal drive. The footage & project files are kept on a WD VelociRaptor Thunderbolt Drive and my preview files are set to a second WD VelociRaptor Thunderbolt Drive.
My preferences are set to use up to 12 gigs of ram for Premier, leaving the other 20 for other applications. It is optimized for Memory. I have tried most all combinations of ram setting here with little luck. (again, I'm new and don't know what I'm doing.)
My Premier sequence is set to be 1080p & my sequence settings are set to a width & height of 960 x 540 with the program monitor set at 1/4 quality.
All the above and I can't even play a file. I have nothing else open or running and have stopped everything that would normally run in the background at startup (like the iTunes helper).
Anywho. Thanks for taking the time to read all the above. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A quick update for anyone stumbling on this later...
As it turns out, I am not utilizing the full amount of RAM available to me. In fact, I am unable to. As it was explained to me, my workflow is bottlenecked by my processor and because I have an iMac, well, I'm stuck with what I have until I can afford to replace the machine.
I have 32 gigs of RAM, and with my processor at 90% use, only 9 to 10 gigs of RAM are utilized.
I'd rather buy a new machine (custom PC) rather than swap to FCP. So the saving begins...
However, I am not up the creek yet. It was recomended I drop the quality/file size by using Media Encoder and converting all my footage to Apple ProRes files, replace clips, and finish what I started.
I began converting last night.
I guess we can chalk this up to Beginners Luck?

Bandwidth surges and hundreds of requests in logs - Strange Behaviour

So, beginners luck I guess...
Basically set up a client site to redirect from our existing site www.abc.com (hosted externally) so the client portion would direct to client.abc.com.
I had all the internal stuff setup correctly, dns for the client.domain.com pointed to our external ip and the everything was hitting the right spots internally and externally. Within probably 12 hours, the server started experiencing sluggish performance, the cpu usage was never at anything less than 50%, the webserver was getting about 29 hits per second and chewing through bandwidth.

After looking at the webserver logs, there were lots of random entries that I can't explain.

After this happening we deleted the external dns record so that client.abc.com wouldn't point to our external ip and left it for the weekend. Coming back on monday, we've chewed through about 25 gig of traffic so it appears that it may take a while for our host to propagate dns fully...
I have turned off web services and the bandwidth and cpu usage went down and we're back to normal now. I've also restored from a time machine backup so there are no actual remains of anything to do with the modifications we made. (which is what makes me think that dns has not fully propagated as aside from the web settings, was the only thing that changed)
The software in question was a PHP file manager called mollify that was running on the client portion. Can anybody explain what was happening with the server and why it got all these random hits and chewed through bandwidth? We're running an external firewall with only a bunch of necessary ports forwarded (mail, web, ftp, vpn ect)
I need to get this software up and running soon so any helpful info on how to fix the network would be great. Anything you need to know just ask!

Yes, that's what you need to turn off. Absolutely.
This allows clients to connect to the server and request content from some other site. The server then retrieves that content and delivers it to the client, potentially caching it so that subsequent requests can be served from the cache rather than requiring another round-trip to the origin server.
In your current setup you're allowing anyone, anywhere, to connect to your server and request content from any other server on the internet. That's bad. That's why your bandwidth has spiked. It's why your CPU is running hot. It's why your logs are large (and growing fast).
If enabled _at all_, the forward proxy should only be available to clients on your LAN, so that it can cache common requests from your internal clients. For now I just suggest turning it off completely.

Lost imovie and iphoto

I have installed Tiger on my g4 imac and forgot to save imovie and iphoto can anyone please explain how I restore old system (ie what order the discs go in ) and how do i start again with tiger

Assuming your iMac G4 shipped with Panther 10.3.x and later the
system was upgraded by installing Tiger over Panther content, so
the Panther-level's iLife components were carried over in Tiger...
And your later Tiger retail installer, having none of that within it,
does not give you iPhoto or iMovie, etc with a new full install.
The Panther restore and install original disc set may be able to
provide raw materials to use Pacifist: http://www.charlessoft.com/
and hope it can make use of those Panther-vintage bits on disc
to assemble and install a working iPhoto and iMovie from them.
I'd tried Pacifist to install a Tiger-vintage iPhoto in a computer
which had been wiped and upgraded past the original Panther
with a retail Tiger 10.4.0 DVD installer and was able, after three
tries, to get a working iPhoto 5.x version. Or I think it works.
{This was from a non-working iBookG4's restore/install DVD.}
To find a good condition stand alone iLife 06 or 07 may be a
better way to go, since that should be Tiger compatible as
well as being able to run in the older PowerPC G4 machine.
The video or graphics hardware, and need to have a DVD
or super drive, limits some of the later iLife software titles.
Some iMac G4s can't really use the last iLife versions, not
to the degree you'd hope; given they are vintage, not Intel.
I have found a good tool to have, even with iPhoto on the
same computer, in ToyViewer. It runs free and has tools.
And it can do more than most beginners may need, well.

GRC 10 implementation approach

Am in the process of implementing GRC 10 with the following components for a pharma client.
Access Risk Analysis (ARA)
Access Request Management (ARM)
Emergency Access (Firefighter)
Business Role Management (BRM)
I just wanted to know your views on what kind of approach is better?. Please comment your views with your best approach.
My view is to first implement ARA and EAM together and then go ahead with ARM and BRM packed together.

Reset my Lumia 620 through settings and now it's '...

I planned to give my Lumia 620 to my dad as I had recently upgraded to a 920. Thus I did a reset to make it feel as brand new as possible. Now, it's stuck at the 'cog cycle' for at least a day. What will the care centre do with it?

Is it connected to a charger that even after a day the battery is not drained completely ? If so remove the charger and wait till the phone goes dead. Now connect the charger and let it charge... If the phone doesn't switch ON on its own even after an hour or so..Press Power + Volume(down) keys until the phone vibrates (about 8-10 seconds). See if it switches ON ..
If still no luck, need to visit Nokia Care ..

According with your question you will need first to understand better how PI works,you have an excellent document here SAP PI for Beginners
You need to understand what is an IDOC: IDoc - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
When you end up to read the document you will understand that the IDOC to PI customer has not too much sense because you will need a source and target and you will have scenarios like IDOC – IDOC, IDOC – SOAP, PROXY –IDOC, etc. Later, depending of your PI version you can have two ways or only to deal with the IDOC proctocol IDOC adapter (in ABAP stack) or IDOC_AAE adapter (java stack). The configuration are different in each case, the my question is what is your PI version?.
When you answer this question we can mention helpful links with the configuration needed and step by step scenarios, like IDOC – IDOC or PROXY-IDOC, etc.

Its posible to use OWB 9.0.4.10 with W2003 and Oracle 10.2.0.1?

Additional info on 10gR2 DB: Database 10.2.0.x is only certifed with Oracle Warehouse builder patch set 10.1.0.4 or higher.
So: bad luck, need to upgrade OWB 10.1.0.4 to at least.

Configuring oracle 11g and Appl.server

hello
we are beginners and need some step by step guide
to step our database envirnonment.
Since we have been working in an obsolete database(8i & dev6)
we are switching to the new version and hence unable to proceed .
1. Installed oracle 11g on a server with OS windows2003.we are able to
open the admin pages in a browser and created users and control files.
we have also imported one users data using dmp files.
2. Next we have sample application developed using Developer suite 10g .
In another PC we have installed OS windows xp and also installed only
application server 10g services for forms and reports.We have placed our sample fmx files
in this pc.
3. we are able able to open the file fmx from the browser on this pc and locally
(Lan) on other pcs by giving the url completely.
4. Next we want our remote office to open this file through the internet.
when we tried this we failed in our attempt.Hence please let us know
how to open the file from the internet.
5. Next we require one active server page to authenticate the user (from the Table
created in the database) and if ok open the sample fmx file .
Here we are struck and do not know how to proceed .
Please guide as how we have to go about with a sample script and
other details.

I do not intend to be insulting but your question reads something like: "my car doesn't start please tell me why?"
Did you see any error message displayed?
Did you look in the log files for error messages?
Can you ping the server?
Is there a firewall?
In other words you need to provide a lot more information before we can help you. Right now it could be anything from the battery is dead to it is out of petrol to some thief took the engine. <g>
