I've been looking for a way to automatically add metadata (author) to a document/exported PDF.
So i found this http://forums.adobe.com/message/3443064 - looks like the answer I'm seeking, but how do i actually put that into use? Where/how to i add the script?
Can it be run upon opening/creating a new document, or upon exporting to PDF?
I'm an experienced indesign user, and I've done some visual basic, php before. But haven't used scripting in InDesign.
Any pointers in the right direction is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

tomaxxi's script in the thread you cite isn't really a normal script. It is a script that installs an event handler that is automatically triggered every time you create a new document in InDesign, suhc as with File > New.
You would save that file as, perhaps, tomaxxiAddXMP.jsx, and then you have some choices. You can just drop it in the User Scripts folder, according to http://www.danrodney.com/scripts/directions-installingscripts.html. At which point you would have to run it once per session (from the Scripts panel, after which point all subsequently created documents would have that happen.
Alternatively, you might want to use it as a startup script. This is an OK idea, except that it might violate your expectations and surprise you sometime if you forget about it. If you follow the above instructions, instead of installing it in the "Scripts Panel" directory, you would go one level up (to "Scripts") and create a directory called "Startup Scripts" and place it there.
Then restart InDesign. It will then always run whenever InDesign starts.

Beginners question: how to set a number of repeats for an operation

Seems like a pretty basic feature, but I cant figure it out ...
I want Illustrator to create a certain number of random color-swatches but would like to avoid copy-pasting the relevant parts of the script that many times into the jsx-file.
How can I set such a number or get the script to go back to a certain line until the doc.swatches.length reaches the intended number?
Any help appreciated.

How do I import my photo library to iPhoto?

I recently got a new mac and a new iPhone, so I imported my photos from iphoto which was my old camera roll and transfered it to my new iPhone. On my iPhone I now have three albums, Camera Roll and Photo Library and another album that is the same as photo library. First can I delete photo library or the other album? Second my more important question, how do I import my photo library from my iphone to my new mac? Thanks

How can I sync specific photos from folders instead of syncing the whole folder to my iPad?(1 gen)

So I recently synced a few folders from my PC to my iPad 1 and there was a few photos I did not want on my iPad, so when I tapped the photo, the trash button wasn't there. I looked up why that was happening and discovered it was because synced photos can't be deleted from the photo library. So I ask my question, how can I sync specific photos from folders instead of the whole folder? from iTunes to my iPad. If there is not a way for me to sync specific photos from folders, how can I delete the photos I don't want from my iPad?

As King_Penguin has already explained, this isn't possible with the stock Photos app.
As far as photo syncing is concerned, I also recommend PhotoSync, which is an excellent photo (and video!) synchronization tool, should you want to stick with the stock Photos app on the iPad. Should you want something better (Photos is a pretty limited app without sorting, EXIF displaying etc. capabilities and with HUGE storage usage), you'll need to take a look at third-party apps. I too recommend Photo Manager Pro, it's IMHO the best tool. Put your videos in a folder and sync iPhone with iTunes, "Photos" tabpreviously selected "Sync photos" and checked the box next to "videos include" I understand you do not have Mac, but with a PC can do the same, with this you will reel and your videos can be edited withiMovie on your iPhone.

Your documents were synched with iCloud when you logged in with your AppleID. If you had a photostream before, you could access some photos using the stream.

How do I move new photos to an album

That is one question. iPhone 4s. I have created an album. I select each potho individeually. Then I can copy them, but cannot then find the album into which I want to paste. Is there no way to select a group of photos on the phone?
Second question. I backed up my photos to computer and to cloud, but cannot find them in either location. The bar at the bottom shows a huge amount of memory devoted to pictures and video, but when I click on Pictures in I phone it shows None. and 0 pictures. .
Third question. How to yu keep the menu bar present in ITunes. Why does the help file not answer the string "view photos"?

One way is to use the View menu "Show Sidebar" then click on Photos at the top of the sidebar, find the photo and drag it to the desired album in the sidebar.

Audio visual presentation using photo's.

I am looking for software for the iMac to make an audio visual presentation using photo's. I want to be able to show photo's at different length to match the music.

There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:

Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast, for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!

How do i remove my photo from my Address Book entry?

two questions: first, how do i remove my photo from my entry in Address Book? i should be able to click "Edit", select my photo and hit the Delete key and be done, but no - hitting the Delete key does nothing except make the photo blink.
second, i just posted a comment on a web page that i've never been to before, on a site that i've never been to before, and my photo appeared on the web page next to my comment. very creepy. anybody know why this is and how i make it stop? does it have something to do with my Address Book entry?
update: i've consulted Address Book's help and it tells me to select the card then go Card -> Clear custom image, but when i do, that menu item is grayed out.
further update: i've worked around the problem by taking a screen shot of a blank white area of a webpage and making that my photo...but i shouldn't have to do that and would still like to know how one actually deletes one's photo from Address Book. Address Book's help indicates that i'll find such photos in Library/Images/People, but there's no such directory in any of my Library folders. Address Book's help is not being very helpful today.

there is actually no way to completely delete an image for you address book entry. you can only change it to something else as you did.
as for the image on that website, most likely it pulled your photo from your webpage on some site like My Space, Facebook etc. do you have a page like that? some sites will tap directly into your webpage and pull your pic from it.

How do I place a photo in Illustrator from my iPhoto Library?

I am a graphic designer and I use Illustrator and Photoshop a lot. I don't use iPhoto for most of my photo editing but rather for the organizing it does with my photos in regard to me viewing them.
Since updating to iPhoto 08 the other day I am unable to get into my photos folder and place a photo in Illustrator or open a photo from Photoshop. (I have now figured out how to use Photoshop to edit...so that is not my real issue) Because of this new design to keep people out of the folder so they don't corrupt them, it also seems to keep me out from even placing a photo.
Other than physically making a copy of it and placing it into another folder how can I access these photos? I have tried dragging and dropping the photo from iPhoto to my Illustrator page, I get this message +"QuickTime™ and a TIFF (Uncompressed) decompressor are needed to see this picture."+
I can do a work around for Photoshop but what about Illustrator? Why can I not just place my photo?
I am sorry if this question is redundant to others being asked in regards to the "no easy access" to the main iPhoto Library but I didn't see any questions specifically asking about Illustrator.

Two things
1- When you go to Leopard the access is very easy and more direct
2 - for me I love the fact that I do NOT have to worry about having the latest version of the photo like I used to - now I export the photo (at worst - under Leopard I normally directly access the latest version) and know that it is the current version rather than looking at the original folder and the modified folder trying to remember the photo name (which makes exporting, using and deleting my preferred work flow under Tiger)

How can I move a photo from one project to another without creating a duplicate so I have the same photo in two projects.
I seems to me in the past when I moved the photo from project 1 to project 2, I would get a number showing the # of photos being moved and you could drag and drop in the 2nd folder and the photos would disappear from project 1 and show up in project 2. is there a setting I am missing. Now when I drag and drop the photo no red # shows up and the photo stays in project 1 and also shows up in project 2 apparently creating a duplicate.

The projects are the basic containers. Each image and all its versions are in exactly one project.
You can use an image in many albums, without duplicating it, also in many products like books, screensaver, slideshows. But the projects are the basic structure of the library and you cannot have the same image in two different project, without duplicating it by storing the same original image files twice. Use albums to organize your library thematically.
Sorry, I misread your question. Dragging an image file between projects should move the image and all its versions to the other project. Aperture should only duplicate the image, if you hold down the alt/options key while dragging and move the image otherwise.
Which Aperture version are you using? And which MacOS X version? Is your profile signature "MacBook Pro with Retina display, Mac OS 9.2.x, Aperture 3.5.1" still valid?
