Beginners question, just started out! please help!
I am currently doing a tutorial on how to design a high-detailed plastic navigation bar via link: http://www.tutorialpark.com/high-detailed-plastic-navigation-bar/
I am currently stuck on step 3 (i know! pure beginner!) it says:
Let’s add some shades for the navigation menu foundation. Create a New Layer; send backwards, Ctrl+Click on the Shape Layer, fill selection with color (#86a6b5). Deselect and apply Gaussian Blur (1.8px), then Motion Blur (90deg, 41px). Now apply Gaussian Blur (1.8px) one more time. Set opacity 85%.
1. Send backwards... means make sure layer is below the previous one?
2. Ctrl+Click on the shape layer, fill with selection with color... So i have the new layer highlighted, i ctrl+click on the shape layer... Now what?
If anyone can answer these it would be really appreciated

1. Yes.
2. Ctrl-clicking a layer causes a selection to be made from the grayscale levels in the layer you clicked on. I assume from the way it's written that the instructions want you to do an Edit - Fill on your new layer.
Certainly those instructions are written rather tersely, probably with experts in mind.

Basic questions, just starting out
We're looking to install OBIEE 11.1.1.7, ODI, and OBIA (the Student Information Analaytics/SIA portion primarily). I've read a lot of documentation but still having trouble piecing everything together and hoping someone can help out.
In terms of initial setup, we currently set aside two Oracle Linux boxes (OL6) for this purpose. On one we installed Oracle DB 11gR2, but from here I'm a little lost.
Should the ODI server components also be installed on the DB server, with OBIEE installed on the secondary 'app' server?
If so, will both the DB/ODI server need WL as well as the app/OBIEE server?
For developers to work, do they just download and install the ODI Client install and connect to the ODI server components on the DB/ODI server?
Edit - I've also been told by another campus implementing this same project that they ended up installing ODI and OBIEE on a windows server instead of linux because the ODI components are so integrated with the ODI studio that they were unable to succeed with the Linux installation - I know that's vague and probably unhelpful, but are there any reasons why I should not install on linux?

Weblogic is required for ODI for J2EE Agent and to run ODI Console you can have both ODI and OBIEE on same machine/web logic application server.
For developers to work, do they just download and install the ODI Client install and connect to the ODI server components on the DB/ODI server?
Download the ODI software and install only ODI Studio then connect to Work/Master Repository.

ODI will work on linux machine without any issues as I said above install studio on windows machine and access the work repository to build mappings/run loads

i switched to the classic 'landscape' and when i reboot, it just stays at the greay screen, with the macintosh logo, and a blinking question mark. ive tried several methods of key combinations with rebooting etc.. i just bought this. please help.

If this works you will see the normal desktop Once completely started up in Safe Mode, try to restart normally and go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility. Click on the top hard drive icon in the left sidebar and note the S.M.A.R.T. status at the bottom right of the pane. What does it say?
Select the named boot volume in the left sidebar, ("Macintosh HD" unless it has been renamed). What is the hard drive capacity and how much space remains available on it? Repair permissions on it.
See if you are able to do a little hard drive maintenance to help things out. -

Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)

Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs. -

What driver are you using?
The driver listed in the url below is a basic print driver that will allow you to print only.

I have an iTouch. I'd like to download some free apps. but I have a debit card but would like to download apps from the store. how do I do that? I can't possibly get a credit card just for this. please help.I really do not think it is the iPad or your network connection. Other users have reported this very same issue. Try this and see if it works for you - it may not work - but it's easy to try - harmless - and it has worked in the past for others.
Try signing out of your account and restart your iPad.
Go to Settings>Store>Apple ID and tap the ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button. Go back to Settings>Store> Apple ID and sign in again. -

I had the same issue and i just resolved it, I have an iphone 4s and last night was al perfect and this morning i just verified that i had a new updated installed on my phone and my WiFi was disable and did restore as new like crazy until i did this after me being tired of restoring my phone from factory setting and then my lately back up on icloud i did my last move and it got fixed this is what i did ok.
STep #1 Do a back up manualy onto your cmputer throu itunes (NOT ICLOUD) ok
Step #2 after doing the the back up go and do on you phone or throu itunes do the factory reset setting and erase everything and make like new phone
Step #3 Leave yhe iphone conected to Itunes.
Step #4 Once your iphone is reset to factory setting on your Itunes Window will say NO SIM CARD DETECTED before clicking on your right up corner (DONE) slide your phone and it will appear conect to a network do the process and put the pasword of your WiFi and until it says conected,It will say (No Service) but it will be conected to WiFi then click on the Itunes Window (DONE)
Step #5 DO a back up recovery from the last back up you did onto your computer not Icloud ok!!
Step #6 after you recovered your phone from last back up on your computer it will atumaticaly have service and WiFi conection like before..
I hope i did explained well to you i did work for me after 7 hours of doing reset and back up =) -

When i click on 'Show all in Finder' after searching for anything on spotlight, NOTHING happens! NO Finder window opens up and the spotlight dropdown menu just shuts! Please help!
I'm having the same problem in other places as well, for example when i downloaded Easyfind right now, clicking the small magnifying glass button on the right of the file name (shown below) would usually open up finder highlighting the file, but now nothing happens when i click on that button!

Upon start up of my laptop I get a APS Daemon.exe system error - MSVCR80.dll is missing. This just started out of the blue. At one point it told me to reinstall ITunes. Is that truly necessary?
I have the same issue after installing the new update and reinstalling iTunes doesn't fix the issue.
I found disabling Apple push (APSDaemon.exe) from the start up will stop the error from appearing, however this will disable wireless syncing. If you don't use it than it shouldn't be an issue.
I'm using a PC so you can disable it using the msconfig command and turning it off in the Startup tab. I don't know if Mac users are experiencing the same issue. Hopefully Apple will fix it in their next update.
