Beginning of messaging thread

My boyfriend and i have been dating for over a year. I have never deleted our messaging thread since the first day we talked. Is there anyway to look at the thread from start to finish without having to scroll all the way back to the beginning? I also do not want to have to pay for an app….

Nope, pretty much scrolling is the only way to view all of it.

  • HT201285 How do you go to the very beginning of a text message thread?

I am trying to go back to the very beginning of the text message thread that goes back about two years.  It just takes way to long to go back by clicking on the time and then selecting load messages.  Any suggestions on how to go to the very beginning of the text conversation?

Unless it has actually been deleted just keep loading earlier messages. When it stops loading them, that will be as far back as you can go.

The startup.exe file is locate in the \NI-RT\STARTUP directory. 'cd NI-RT' then 'cd STARTUP' should get you to the right place after making the connection with ftp. I don't recognize PH_EXEC.EXE. Logging in as anonymous is fine. I don't recall seeing documentation on the file structure and locations on the module but I'm sure there is some. I just wandered around w/ftp.
The program to update the node should be below. Enter the IP address, the green light will confirm the node is found.
The version function scans the existing startup.exe for a string beginning and ending with " RU Version " and prints everything in between as the version.
The autostart function will copy the existing ni-rt.ini file to your computer, mod
ify the autostart as requested, then put the file back. Leaves the copy on the PC, which can be handy.
Send file will request a file of the format startup*.dat which will be renamed startup.exe and ftp'd to the module. Lets you keep version numbers in the filename on the PC side. Your directory structure probably won't match mine so you'll have to browse for your file.
    Reboot module reboots the module.
Hope this is useful, let me know if anything doesn't make sense. Thanks.

Iphone 5 - I am trying to delete message threads and once I do, I go to text someone else and it won't send. HELP? I just don't want those messages on my phone anymore. I have tried to restart my phone but when I do, the "deleted" threads show back up on my phone. I use iOS 7.1.

    Hello Makayla,
It sounds like you're deleted message threads keep coming back after you restart the devie. I recommend starting by quitting all the running apps on your phone:
iOS: Force an app to close
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
If the issue persists, backup your device to iTunes and then restore it as a new device and verify that it works.
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
If it does, then restore your backup to either verify it still works and the software just needed reinstalled, or isolate the issue to the backup file itself.

  • I get two message threads for one contact. One for sms and one for iMessage since I updated to iOS 7. How can I get them both into one thread?

Ever since I upgraded to iOS7 just two of my contacts I get two message threads for them. One containing their iMessages to me and the other with just regular sms messages. In Contacs, their email and phone number are saved under one name. How can I get the iMessages and sms to come through under one thread in my messaging app again?

I am having this trouble also, my partner creates a new message to send to me, or sends a picture and it always comes through as an MMS and not using iMessage ...
will try deleting everything and starting again!

  • Multiple message threads from same person

I have multiple message threads from the same person in messages on my iPhone and iPad. One comes from their phone number and one from their email. Here are all the details, I would love to be able to combine them into one thread.
This other person and myself each have a new MacBook Pro, iPad Air 2, I have an iPhone 6 and they have an iPhone 5S. They are all updated with the most recent system software.
On my MacBook Pro, the conversations that are split on my iPhone and iPad are not split. On the MacBook Pro, all of the texts from both conversations are appearing in one. In my contacts which are syncing with iCloud I have both the phone number and email address of this other person.
I have messages set up on all of my devices to send and receive from my phone number and my email, start new conversations is from my phone number. This other person has it set up the exact same way on all of their devices.
So why when I text this person from one conversation thread and they respond it comes through to the other conversation thread?
Why can't I seem to join these two conversations when everything is set up the way it should be and they ARE joined on my MacBook Pro but not my iPhone and iPad?

She kept the same number on her new phone, but now there are 2 conversation threads. A new one started with messages sent from the new phone, the old phone should be out of service now. Why didn''t  messages sent by the new phone resume in the same conversation? I assume because it's a different IMEI.  But now whenever I use her  phone number to create a new message, it goes in the old IMEI*'s conversation thread and is therefore not delivered. It's in green so it thinks it's an SMS also not a iMessage device.
If I want to send a message correctly  to the new phone, I have to make sure I  go into the correct newer thread and enter it there,
For your second answer, the person is receiving the message but the thread now says "email address", not the person's name in the contact list. The sender is sending to the person's phone number, not her email address.

  • Sent messages vanish from Messages thread.

This is a problem I've been enocuntering since upgrading to Mavericks and I've been unable to find a solution. I've been all over threads to try and find a similar issue but have been unable to.
Here's the problem. When sending iMessages, the message will actually send (meaning, I can see it in conversation threads on other iCloud-linked devices) but it does not actually show up in the convesation thread on my messages window. The other use definitely recieves it, as do my linked iphone and ipad, but on my mac, I press send, and it just vanishes. Messages recieved from other users will prompt a notification, and they will appear in the message thread, but not sent ones. Furthermore, any received messages will vanish after about 20 seconds.
Now this is not a problem with saving conversations or achiving chat transcripts. The conversations themselves do show up archived in the proper folder. The only issue I'm having is physically in the messages chat window. I've tried signing in with a different iCloud account and the exact same problem occurs.
I'm really at the end of my rope here and have been unable to find anyone experiencing a similar problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

  • IPhone 4S AND 5S freeze when trying to delete message threads?

I have the newest software available and both phones are up to date.
When I go to delete old message threads, my iPhone freezes. It will let me swipe to the side and clear them, but after 2 or 3 threads it will freeze. I'll be in the Messages section and it will be unresponsive. I will close out of it and then when I reopen it- it says I have 0 messages altogether.  I have to literally turn my phone off and then back on to view my inbox again- and the message threads I thoght were deleted are still there.
Does anyone else have this problem, or a way to fix it?

  • Is there any way to combine message threads?

I have ended up with two completely different "conversations" with my son that I would like to combine. We both have been using iPhones for years and both recently started using iPads as well. We have gotten both message threads to show up on all four devices, but would like to combine them back into one.

  • NO Cursor scroll through any message thread using the track pad in the BB Classic

It very strange to know that I didn't find the cursor while i will scroll through any message thread i.e. Text msgs  and in Whatsapp it will only selet the whole msg or multiple msgs rather then specfic text required, using the track pad in my BB Classic.
Where in my old BB 9780 there was a cursor which would always show there and would help in selecting text required.... Rather in BB Classic first you have to activate the selection mode in text msgs by pressing the shift key an slighty brush the finger against the trakpad. then you get the selection blue sticks on the screen to selet the text required.
Anyone who has noticed this short coming...?? Or it might be I am not very familair with the selection methods...!!!
    Will appreciate your help
    Thanks,

This is normal behaviour. Please go to the "Tutorial" app select
    "Editing Text"
It will show you exactly how it works.

  • Multiple message threads for single contact

  • Help ;( photos in message thread gone

    Hi everyone!
Having real major problems with my iphone 3gs 4.3.5.  Yesterday my phone started freezing so i pressed the home button along with the lock button, everything ok.  When the phone came back on, it took me ages to get into my messages, when I finally got in I noticed one of the message threads from my friend had all the videos and pictures we sent all gone.  There is a blue arrow to show where the pictures should be but there are no pictures.  Im really upset cos that is 10months of photos gone, fair enough you can call me sad but I really value those pictures.  All my other photos on the camera roll are ok and are saved on my itunes account and on the main computer hard drive.  Can anyone please help?????? I back-up my phone religiously so just wondering if this is a bug, my phone does freeze a lot and I do shut down my apps, turn my wi-fi off, lower the brightness etc but it still freezes.  I've also noticed this has happened to a few other people, so Apple would really need to sort it before I consider another phone to use. I love my iphone though.
ps is there a way to save to messages onto your itunes account?? thanks

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you see when iPhoto opens?
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

  • Standards for message threading?

    greetings,
i'm curious if someone knows the answer to whether there are standards for how message threading is supposed to be done.
i keep my email mailboxes "organized by tread". this is invaluable to me in keep up with and following the email traffic at work. however, there is a slight problems with organizing by threads, which i consider a problem causes by people sending mail... it is not uncommon for people to reply to a message, then change the subject and make an entirely different message which has nothing to do with the message to which they originally replied. this causes email messages to get hidden under the wrong topic when messages are display by threads...
for the problem messages, i've read thru the message headers and see that the original message has a "message-id" and the later emails have a field "in-reply-to" which include the message id's of the original message. in apple's mail reader, will logically group everything together under 1 message thread in this case, as i would expect. but the difficult seems to be that people sending the messages don't know that they are screwing up things for mail readers that thread the messages...
there are several possible reasons why the wouldn't know. either the senders don't display messages in a threaded format, or their mail reader just uses another mechanism for threading messages (like subject or another message header).. i've check and the mail all seems to be coming from outlook.
my question is whether this there is an internet standard that states what the "in-reply-to" is supposed to be used for by mail readers. it this supposed to be used for "threading" messages? is this undefined and apple is just smart for using that field this way? do the standards state that threading should be done another way?
years ago, i begged for message threading since it always worked so well in newsreaders... i was very happy when message threading showed up in 10.3. i still can't imagine working in email without message threading, even if there are instances where it gets screwed up... so i won't stop using it... i'm just curious to know if there is a standard that defines how it should be done and what that standard is... i don't know where to look up the standard... i didn't find the info by google... if anyone has some pointers i'd appreciate it...
    thanks for any info...

    ok-
i had seen the 2nd link, but wasn't sure about how current it was since it has a date from years ago... i thought it was a good explanation of how it "should" work... but i wasn't sure if this was related to a standard or just a convention (meaning a convenient way that some people do it, but there isn't any agreement of how it should be done)...
i also realize that just because there is a standard, it doesn't mean that anyone has to comply with it... but it is useful to know, particularly since the discussion of standard comes up where i work...
    thanks-
