Behaviors in dreamweaver

i understand how to use the behaviors option but for some reason when i choose the swap images option when the popup box comes up under the images box all i get is unnamed <img> .  Any clue how to fix that??

If your class is spending time teaching you how to use Photoshop to write HTML then they are wasting your time.  The HTML written by any graphics application is useless in a practical sense because it is written without regard for the real variables to which your page's layout will be subjected on the web.  For example, changing character sizes in the browser, or changing viewport widths from one browser to another, or any of a variety of other operations that cause such HTML layouts to break apart.
Nevertheless, you have the solution to your problem!  Good luck.

  • OT: Bindings panel, Databases, and Server behaviors in Dreamweaver CC

    Hi all,
    There was a query on the Dreamweaver Facebook page about using server behaviors in Dreamweaver going forward. The product team replied to the post, and I am posting it on this forum for the benefit of users not on our Facebook page.
    In Dreamweaver cc release server behaviors will be available as an extension. Once you install the extension server behaviors feature will be enabled and extensions dependent on it will work as before. In the CC release, you can find the extension at the location
    * Vista/Windows 7: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CC\Configuration\DisabledFeatures
    * Mac OS X: /Applications/Adobe Dreamweaver CC/Configuration/DisabledFeatures
    Additional documentation is available at
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/dreamweaver-cc-server-extensions.html
    Also, check out this video created by Silas http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cB2vmNfcq7A
    The Dreamweaver team has posted their view about the latest changes in Dreamweaver in their blog post  http://blogs.adobe.com/dreamweaver/2013/06/a-look-at-the-modernized-dreamweaver-cc.html
    Thanks,
    Preran

    I am sorry to say so, but your disappointing blog post just tells us two things:
    You claim that you are listening to your users, but you have just proved you don’t. Despite the high volume of disappointment expressed through the comments to previous posts of this blog, through comments in Dreamweaver Help or through the Community Forum, you show no change of direction, nor any will to cater for the disrupted workflow that Dreamweaver CC is introducing. Instead, you are just producing blog posts that desperately try to prove us that you are “streamlining” and “modernizing” Dreamweaver. An extension that brings back half of the features is not a strong-enough signal that you have taken into account our needs. Extensions written by third parties which you claim are alternatives but are not resemble more leg-pulling than anything else. Will you reduce Dreamweaver’s price for the removal of killer features that were sold with the software before?
    You do not seem to know how Dreamweaver users use the software or at least, to be fair, how a large number of users do. I thought the aim of software makers was to sell a tool that aids its clients in, and brings value to, their work.
    As an extension writer, I can tell that the vast majority of my users are either DIY guys or professionals working on their own. Not big companies with teams of developers. The majority of those never have been Dreamweaver users and will never be, having different needs and ways of working.
    As responses to your “streamlining” and “modernization” of Dreamweaver have shown, for a large number of users, the strength of Dreamweaver lies in its extensibility, of which server behaviors are the most advanced feature. I am not talking about the code they write, which we all agree has to be updated (and we have been waiting this for a number of releases, now…), I am talking about their very mechanism, which allow us to write our code and use Dreamweaver to speed up our job by helping us to write it again, faster, without errors, visually.
    No other tool offers this possibility. Without server behaviors and database support, Dreamweaver is simply not worth its price…
    Obviously, you are the ones with the real figures and only you can tell if it is a strategic decision or a big mistake. I was a bit surprised though by the number of voices that rose after the Dreamweaver CC release, so I tend to think that Mr. Adobe would not be that pleased by the loss of a good number of faithful clients. But then at least, be honest enough to tell us if you intend to drop a part of long-term users, and stop serving us your commercial soup…
    Now, what will happen?
    You still refuse to listen to the numerous voices who have called against your decision to remove useful features to us, and in this case, we will act accordingly: we are big enough, we do not need your blatant propaganda even by the product manager himself to decide whether Dreamweaver CC will still be worth its high price into our workflow, if the new features will outweigh the loss of server behaviors and database support. If not, of course, we will not upgrade just because you are marketing the supposedly wonderful new features, and we will turn to other tools, with features that will help us improve our workflow in other ways. And goodbye Adobe, we do not trust you anymore… It is as simple as that.
    You show us you really are listening to your customers and you bring back updated server behaviors and database support. In this case, we will know that we can trust Adobe again, that you do listen to us, and will applaud with both hands.
    And, more important to you, we will have a valid reason to upgrade and we will. Come on guys, our productivity is at stake, but your jobs may be in the line too…

  • "Set text of container" behavior crashes Dreamweaver! (CS3)

    When I try to change pages which use the "Set text of
    container" behavior it
    crashes DW-CS3. The dialog which used to come up first shows
    a series of
    asterisks in the drop-down for the container selected, and
    the CPU does
    overtime for about a minute before the correct values appear.
    If I change
    any values and OK it, then CPU starts using over 90% on DW
    and nothing
    happens until I force a shut-down (I've left it running for
    over 15 mins!)
    I have tried setting up a new "Set text of container"
    behavior and the same
    thing happens.

    Oh it truly needs work...
    http://www.jackbooks.com/Wystan/Regional/Regionalism.htm
    Even on a simple new page with a couple of divs this
    behaviour is now very
    slow and the line of asterisks comes up while waiting for the
    dialog to
    load. What has changed? How can a simple behaviour be now so
    demanding?

  • Spry Accordion Navigation Panel Behavior in Dreamweaver eLearning Template

    I am trying to create an eLearning course using the "SoftSkills" eLearning Template provided by Dreamweaver. I have created several extra div tags to set up extra titles on the tabbed accordion, however, regardless of how I set the variable "AccOpenPanel" here:
    <!-- TemplateParam name="accOpenPanel" type="number" value="0" -->
    all of the panels are displaying as open. I would like to have panel 2 open and all others closer. I'm sure there's a simple fix for this, but I can't find it. Actually I can't find any help for using this template, which I'm sure exists. Any suggestions?  Below is a sample of my accordion code:

    The code that you have shown is not the problem, despite my wondering why you have created a new accordion for each panel. Also you have not shown the links to the support files (JS and CSS) nor have you shown the constructor for each of the accordions, but I assume that you have attended to these matters and did not think it worthwhile to show the code.
    Personally, I would have created one accordion with four panels, but this is a matter of choice.

  • Doing an insert behavior in Dreamweaver CS five and Access?

    so there I am doing  an Insert Record into a table  in Access. I have used this behavior before and have had no problem. When I am doing a form element type selection (for each field in the record) I have no problem – except for the second field. The default value <ignore >cannot be changed: there is no drop-down list as there is with every other field. I have tried changing the name of the field (from Fullname to Fname) thinking that this might be a reserved word problem, but it is not. What could be the problem and what might be the solution?
    Thanks!
    Ross

    I've attached a screenshot might depict my dilemma a little more thoroughly: about a picture being worth 1000 words? With this I double clicked on the insert behavior. Notice the "insert into column" drop box which has the phrase <ignore > highlighted?I want to have  fname inserts into fullname but I cannot do so. I have tried changing the field name in the  Access database itself but it makes no difference. I have even tried setting it to a bogus value – one on the list – but I get complaints at runtime about the same input field be stuffed into two columns. So how do I get the actual field name for the column, Fullname, instead of the <ignore >??

  • Dreamweaver CS4 interface problems in Win 7 Ultimate 64bit

    I'm experiencing some frutratingly bizzare behavior with Dreamweaver CS4 and Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and I'm hoping someone might now how to fix the issues.
    1) When creating a new site by selecting "Site/New Site..." or "Site/Manage Sites..." the fields for selecting "Local root folder" and "Default images folder" always select a directory above where I tell it.
    For example if I tell it to use "E:\ClientFiles\Client\website\" it always selects "E:\ClientFiles\Client\". and the only solution is to write in the proper directory manually.
    2) Possibly related to the above targeting problem. In a document, even an new empty xhtml, if I place an image on the page and double click on that image to replace it with another I get the dialog box for selecting the new image, but on pressing "OK" nothing happens. The same thing occurs if I select the fodler icon in the properites at the bottom. The only methods that work are either deleting the placed image and then placing a new image or deleting the "Src" info in the "properties" panel and then clicking the folder icon next to "Src".
    You can see how this would get frustrating after a while.
    I've tried a complete reinstall of CS4, deleting the Dreamweaver cache file, and I get the same behavior on my laptop which is also running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.
    Any help would be appreciated. I've submitted this behavior to Adobe support as well in hops that it can some how be resolved.

    Both are known issues in DW on Win 7 and Vista. It's not just 64 bit.
    Until Adobe issues a patch, the workarounds you describe are the only solutions for the timebeing.

  • Problem with JavaScript snipet that DreamWeaver is writing

    I am having a problem with code that DreamWeaver (CS3) is
    writing. I'm fairly certain the problem is in a small piece of
    JavaScript that DreamWeaver is composing.
    This is a fairly complex problem, so bear with me.
    First - What I am trying to make happen: When on a page on my
    site (the-oilman.com) I want a link that opens a new window in the
    on-line store at a different site (AMSOIL.com). I need to leave
    both the page on my site open and have this 'store' page open.
    First of all this is working fine, using the 'Open Window'
    'behavior' in DreamWeaver. If someone wants to change windows (or
    tabs) and go back to my page, leaving the 'store' window open also
    - the problem is set up to happen. If from back at my site, you
    click on the same or a different link that goes back to the 'store'
    either on the same page or a different page at AMSOIL.com - the
    'store' window goes to the correct page, but the 'store' window
    does NOT come on top. When they click on a link to go back to the
    'store' I need the 'store' window to come to the top. If they have
    previously put something in the cart, and come back and add
    something else to the cart in the 'store' by coming in from
    different links on my site the 'store' is working correctly because
    I leave it open the whole time.
    snipets of code that DreamWeaver is writing for my site
    (the-oilman.com):
    from the head:
    <script>
    <!--
    CSAct[/*CMP*/ '129AABC1'] = new Array(CSOpenWindow,/*URL*/ '
    http://www.amsoil.com/redirect.cgi?zo=52257&page=store','store',0,0,true,true,true,true,tr ue,true,true);
    CSAct[/*CMP*/ '129AAC63'] = new Array(CSOpenWindow,/*URL*/ '
    http://www.amsoil.com/redirect.cgi?zo=52257&page=store','store',0,0,true,true,true,true,tr ue,true,true);
    CSAct[/*CMP*/ '10D39F40'] = new Array(CSOpenWindow,/*URL*/ '
    http://www.amsoil.com/redirect.cgi?zo=52257&page=storefront/sso','store',0,0,true,true,tru e,true,true,true,true);
    function MM_openBrWindow(theURL,winName,features) { //v2.0
    window.open(theURL,winName,features);
    //-->
    </script>
    code from 2 different links that is using this script:
    <a href="
    http://www.amsoil.com/redirect.cgi?zo=52257&page=storefront/sso"
    target="store" onClick="MM_openBrWindow('#','store','')"
    csclick="10D39F40">Buy Now</a>
    <a href="
    http://www.amsoil.com/redirect.cgi?zo=52257&page=store"
    title="AMSOIL Store at AMSOIL.com" target="store"
    onClick="MM_openBrWindow('http:www.amsoil.com/redirect.cgi?zo=52257&amp;page=store','stor e','')">On
    Line Store</a>
    I believe what I need is a longer javascript. Instead of just
    "window.open" I need an "if" but my javascript knowledge is very,
    very limited.
    I need it to first check that if the window named 'store' is
    open then 'focus' it, or if it is not open to open the window named
    'store'.
    Will this fix my problem? If so, please help me write the
    lines of code to do it.
    If this isn't the solution, what is the problem and the
    solution?
    A separate question but related: if you look in the two
    different links codes, in the function call one of them uses a
    'null' page reference and the other repeats the full link reference
    from the href= . Both seem to work, but which is the correct or the
    preferred syntax. My guess is there are some browsers that this
    will give a problem, but which way is preferred.
    Don Dawson
    mailto:[email protected]

    Create a new page. Try to apply this same behavior to a link
    on that new
    page. Look at the code. Can you reproduce the problem there?
    The code you
    show below has oodles of GL stuff in it. Do you need that GL
    markup?
    What operational sequence did you go through to get this
    behavior call?
    onClick="MM_openBrWindow('#','store','')"

  • Can Dreamweaver CS5 connect to MySQL via ODBC?

    I am unable to make a direct connection to an external MySQL database because most hosting provider does not allow this type of connection due to security reasons. I am however able to make an ODBC connection to the database (which I am currently using to connect filemaker to our MySQL database).
    How can I tell Dreamweaver CS5 to connect via the ODBC driver so I can see the MySQL content in my Dreamweaver project?
    I am on a Mac running OS X 10.6.4.

    You can't - at least not if you want to use Dreamweaver's server behaviors. Dreamweaver uses the original PHP MySQL extension. If you want to connect in any other way, you need to hand code everything yourself.
    On the other hand, if you want to see the contents of your remote database in Dreamweaver, define your remote server as the testing server. Dreamweaver uploads a hidden folder to the remote server to connect to the database. Because the script is on your remote server, it's local to the MySQL database, so gets round the security issue. It then sends the details to your local computer.
    A better solution, though, is to establish a local testing environment. It's more responsive and much more secure. http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/setup_php.html.
    By the way, the failure to get a reply is due, in part, to posting your question in the wrong forum. The forum for issues related to PHP/MySQL and other server-side technologies is http://forums.adobe.com/community/dreamweaver/dreamweaver_development.

  • Looking for some plug-ins for dreamweaver 8

    As I am creating an e-commerce website I will need to a lot
    of coding. Does anybody know of any good websites besides Adobe
    where I can download some free addtional behaviors for Dreamweaver
    8.

    For ecommerce? I think you might have problems finding
    "free".

  • Update Behavior using Multiple tables

    I'm trying to use the Update behavior from Dreamweaver MX2004
    to update fields from diferent joined tables. The search form works
    OK as I joined the tables and I get great results (see SQL Query
    below). When I try to create link to a detail page from the master
    page and I use the same recordset as below and I use the update
    behavior, I can only choose a table at the time to update fields
    using only one key. If I choose only one table and pass one key
    field is OK but I need to update all three joined tables. Is there
    a way to do something like this in the Link field in the master
    page calling the detail page? Is there is a correct way to pass the
    three keys from the master page to the detail page? I'm using ASP
    and standard SQL. The environment is Windows for testing and SQL
    server.
    Detail Page Parameters (not sure if this could be done):
    details_Admin_Skill_Resource.asp?resourceSkillMapID=
    <%=(Recordset1.Fields.Item("resourceSkillMapID").Value)%>?<%=(Recordset1.Fields.Item("skil lID").Value)%>?<%=(Recordset1.Fields.Item("resourceId").Value)%>
    I'm also inserting hidden fileds in the detail form. Any
    Ideas how to update several tables in DW MX2004 with the update
    behavior?
    This is the query in the recordset and it is working OK as it
    produces results from the search page. What modifications I need to
    do to this recordset in the update page?

    One solution is to create a view in SQL, that is exactly the
    same as
    your SELECT above. You then use the view name instead of the
    table name
    in your UPDATE statement. I know in the SQL world that this
    is possible,
    but I don't know if the Dreamweaver update behaviour will see
    the views
    stored on your SQL server.

  • Behaviors Panel Missing columns FW-8

    I'm running fireworks 8 on an intel Macbook, OS 10.4. When I
    open the behaviors panel, I get a 'onMouseOver" listing but nothing
    else. Cannot seem to highlight an event and there are no actions or
    events headings in the panel. As say, a rollover, the behavior
    works in preview, (and in dreaweaver), but if I want to use a click
    event, instead of a rollover, I cannot do it. (This bieng for a
    swap image action). Any idea of what is going on. At this point,
    i'm adding all my behaviors in Dreamweaver...

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Crashing Instantly

    MAC OSX 10.5 Leopard
    I am experiencing an incorrect behavior of Dreamweaver CS3
    instantly crashing. Here's when it happens.
    In Design View... no problems.
    In Code View... instant crash of DW CS3 when I attempt to
    click on any line that has either meta tags or recordset scripting.
    (if I click around parts of the body in code view, no crash).
    Since it's so specific as to what I do when it crashes, what
    do you think is wrong?

    *.ste is the extension that DW uses. BUT - if you have never
    EXPORTed the
    site defintions from within DW, you will not find any of
    these.
    Here is a post from Sonjay, which I found by searching this
    forum for "Mac
    site definition" -
    On the backup of the old drive, look in this directory:
    /Users/you/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/9/Sites
    And find the file named "Site Prefs"
    Copy that file into the same location on your new drive.
    The site definitions are defined in this file using from the
    name of your
    hard drive, e.g.,
    "MyHardDrive:Users:Myusername:SiteDirectoryName"
    If the name of your hard drive is different from the old one,
    you'll need to
    open that file in a text editor (NOT Dreamweaver -- something
    like TextMate
    or BBEdit) and do a global find-and-replace to replace the
    name of your old
    hard drive with the name of your new one in all the site
    definitions. Save
    and close.
    Relaunch Dreamweaver.
    You're done.

  • Open New Browser Window Behavior

    I have set a behavior in Dreamweaver CS3 to open a new
    browser window to a set size and to only show scroll bars if
    needed. I have left all other attributes unchecked. This works fine
    in all browsers including IE6 but IE7 ignores all my settings and
    just opens a normal full size browser window showing scroll bars,
    address bar, menus etc. Can anyone tell me how to make IE7 open a
    new browser window to my settings using the behaviors in
    Dreamweaver CS3?
    Thanks.
    Russ.

    I cannot reproduce this in IE7. Your OBW behavior works just
    the way you
    want for me. In your code, make sure that this is all on one
    line -

    onclick="MM_openBrWindow('

    I have been trying diff ways and i just can't get it right.
    Please help! Thanks!!!

    I'm not sure how much you know but first you have to connect your form to the database
    $con = mysql_connect("hostname","admin_name","password");
    Then you have to choose the database you want information be added to.
    mysql_select_db("database name goes here", $con);
    Then you have to write an sql function which will write it in the appropiate columns in your database
    $sql="INSERT INTO what column e.g members (First name, Last name, age, etc)
    VALUES (the names of the textfields on your form), actually double check that part
    ('$_POST[firstname]','$_POST[lastname]','$_POST[age]')";
    $result = mysql_query($sql);
    This is the first and most basic part just to give you an idea how it works.
    Within these snippets you will have to write much more which will beef up the security aswell as check if everything has been entered correctly etc
