Beige vertical stripes on monitor OS windows 7

Light beige vertical stripes appear on my ViewSonic monitor whenever there's any movement on the screen, including mouse movements espically when the wheel is used. When there's nothing moving on the screen the stripes disappear, although on the YouTube site they're always there even when no video is playing.  Typing, as I'm doing right,  now does not  generate the lines.   Could this be a video card issue?

  • I have 4 vertical stripes across the entire height of my monitor. Do I have to buy a new imac? e

I have 4 vertical stripes across the entire height of my monitor, the stripes are there even before I log on. My 17" imac is 6 years old. Do I have to buy a new computer?

Frequent problem on 2006 17" imac!
Most of the time, it's a defective LCD panel.
To validate if it is the LCD panel or the graphic card, you can take a screen shot (cmd+Shift+3) and see if the problem is visible on the screen shot.
If it is not visible, then it's most likely the LCD panel.
This can be confirmed by connecting an external display to your iMac.
If it works well, then it's the LCD panel that is defective.
    Does it look like this?

  • Wide vertical colored stripes on monitor

G4-mirrored door with mac monitor. I turned it on this morning and after one minute started to get wide vertical lines across monitor. I shutdown, unplugged G4, plugged back in, restarted, and issue still there. Anyone know about problems like these? I will try to get graphic card info but it's hard to see anything on the monitor.

Plug in a different monitor. If the problem doesn't go away its the video card.
Plug in a different video card. PCI or AGP.
Borrow one for a few days.

  • Canvas minimized to tiny vertical strip

Apologies if this has been asked already -- tried a search through the forums and couldn't find this referenced.
Over the past two weeks or so, I've noticed that every time I open up FCP, my projects open up just fine, the viewer and the timeline open up with my projects intact, but the canvas for my active project -- which used to open just fine on my second monitor -- is now minimized to a tiny vertical strip on the side of my main monitor, as are all the other projects that appear in the timeline.
Doesn't matter if I save the project again or switch to a different project -- it always re-opens in a tiny sliver on my main monitor ever single time I restart. So, every time I start up FCP, I find myself locating the proper tiny little sliver that represents my current canvas, dragging it to the second window and resizing it. I know there's probably a way to override whatever is causing this to happen. Any advice appreciated.

Downloaded FCP Rescue, and it doesn't run on my system at all -- made sure I have the right version for my install of FCP, too. It just crashes on launch. If all it does is kill the preferences, I suppose I could just delete the proper plist file, right?
Not sure how the View/Arrange is supposed to help -- just looks like that changes how objects appear in the browser...?

  • Vertical stripes

My PowerBook G4 has an odd display problem that I'm pretty sure is an OS X issue, not a hardware issue: groups of vertical lines on the display. The lines are one-pixel wide and show up in a consistent pattern, not at random. I get a vertical stripe of maybe two dozen alternating darker and lighter pixels, followed by an equal number of normal pixels, followed by another stripe of alternating dark/light, etc. The underlying color is not changed, just the brightness. Now the reason I think it's an OS X problem is that the stripes only show up in places like the Dock, the menu bar, the title bar of inactive windows (but not active windows), the title bar of dialog boxes, and the dark area that pops up when I cycle between apps with cmd+tab. They run the entire width of whatever object they appear in but everything else on screen is fine. Everything looks normal during the startup process and the anomaly doesn't appear until I've logged into a user account. It happens with all user accounts. Rebooting doesn't help, nor does changing the display resolution or number of colors. I've tried trashing all sorts of com.apple.* preference files but that doesn't help. The only success I've had was when I zapped the PRAM, then changed from millions of colors to thousands, and then changed back to millions. But it only lasted a few hours. I didn't notice the moment the problem returned, so it might have been at some point when I woke the computer up from sleep. Any help figuring out the cause and effecting a lasting cure would be greatly appreciated.

Upon further investigation, it appears that the problem is at least partly if not wholly a software problem, notwithstanding the VRAM error.

Additional info: I've reinstalled the OS (10.4.8) to no avail. The problem occurs in all user accounts, at all screen resolutions, at all numbers of colors, and on an external display as well as the internal display.

  • IMAC 2" wide white vertical stripe middle screen, what to do?

my older iMAC has 2" wide white vertical stripe middle screen, it started out as single red line, what to do?

I don't know if this will "fix" your problem but:
As old as your iMac is, have you cleaned out the dust? Dust buildup can lead to over heating issues. Remove any and all things plugged into it including the power cord, Remove the RAM access grille. Vacuum all openings starting with the RAM access area (air intake). Vacuum all ports and plugs, DVD slot and the opening across the top of the rear of the body. Blow compressed air through all your openings and vacuum again to remove any dust you loosend. Reinstall the RAM grille. Plug in the keyboard and mouse if not blue tooth. Insert power cord...
You are now in a perfect position to do a
    SMC RESET

    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
    Wait 15 seconds.

  • Vertical stripes after latest Security Update 2008-004 for OS X Tiger

    Hi there,
I'm experiencing vertical stripes and color issues on my PB G4 17 inch screen after the security update 2008-004.
Funny thing is, a screenshot looks fine.
I already resetted PRAM and NVRAM. Didn't help.
    Does anyone know a solution?
    Thanks,
    Phil

It's probably got nothing to do with the upgrade.
I guess your computer is about 15-20 months old and the serial number starts with W84 or W85.
This is obviously a common problem among these serial numbers, and it starts after about 15 months.
I've got a mint PBG4 17, that's NEVER left the house. Just turned it in on AppleCare repair (32 days left, phew) for this problem.
This number series is assembled in Shanghai in 2005.

  • No signal on monitor after Windows 8 logo

I have a Lenovo H430-2558-1ZU desktop running Windows 8 Pro with Media Center. It orignally came with Windows 7. I was using it then all of a sudden the video went dead and I got no signal on the monitor. I restarted and after the Windows 8 logo, I get No Signal on the monitor. Windows 8 is running because I can hear sounds from the speakers. After using this method, I booted into safe mode. I uninstalled the Intel HD Graphics driver from safe mode and restarted in normal mode. It was fine for a few minutes, but then I got no signal on the monitor. So I booted into safe mode again and uninstalled the driver. I installed a new driver from intel's website, but I still have the same problem. I tried to uninstall the monitor driver, but still have the same issue. The monitor is connected to the computer's HDMI port via an XtremeMac HDMI to DVI cable. The monitor is a Viewsonic VX1945wm I've used for many years. I don't think this is a hardware problem, because my Ubuntu install works just fine. I'm at a loss here, IDK what to do. Please help!

    Hi seagdude,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that monitor is displaying blank screen with “No Signal” error message even after re-installing the Graphic drivers the issue is same and the H430 is not working as expected in Safe Mode as well.
This seems to be compatibility issue with Windows 8 and as driver re-installation is done and the issue still persists, re-install the Operating System will resolve the issue using the Windows 7 recovery disc that is made when the computer had pre-installed Operating System in it.
NOTE: Please backup the data before performing OKR as the computer will be re-installed to its factory settings.
If recovery discs are not created, please contact our Telephone Support team for the further information, I’m sure they will be a great help.

  • MacBook Air: Vertical Stripe in Display

    hi,
my late 2010 macbook air suddenly displays a vertical stripe.
i realise, that when i take a screenshot, that stripe is not present.
i have the latest version of MacOS, no pending updates. i also cleaned the screen with iKlear apple polish - still the same result.
anz ideas what the problem might be?

Yes, I am using the MBA 2013 with haswel processor. What's your hardware?
Mine is i7 processor , 8gb ram and 256 SSD.
Look, I decided to buy Macs , because it was said that they were working properly for a long long time. After buying the latest iMac 27iches(late 2012) and the new MBA(mid 2013) the thing I have to say is that OS X is full of bugs and of course I am not here to debug Apple's software. The other thing I have to admit is that Macs tend to get hardware damages , especially on their displays, very very very very very very easily.
I got one replacement for an iMac with heavy image persistence and with my second unit I also had a ghosting issue some days ago.
With my MBA I got two replacement , that is the third unit I got and Apple still knows nothing about my issue.
Ok, I decided to pay for a very premium price, at least the machines should really work perfectly. And these facts are admitted by someone , whose house looks like an Apple Store with so many Apple's products that I have bought.
So , the best thing you can  do now is to give your feedback directly to Apple. Apple will not spend time to fix bugs which only a few customers experience. They will only release a fix , if it is a major concern , which may drop their sales worldwidely. Of course, if you think it is a hardware issue the best you can do is to ask for a replacement. I know this is inconvenient, but it is the only way to ensure that the machine you bought will worth the money you spent for it.

  • Touchscreen monitors for Windows 8 ?

I have a hp desktop and monitor and was wondering if HP will be releasing a touchscreen monitor for windows 8. They did a TS monitor afew years ago but discontinued it.
If windows 8 if designed more for this hands-on approach, i would think all manufacturers would start producing touchscreen monitors. I understand you can buy all-in-ones, but not everyone wants or has one of these.

Currently, HP and many other manufacturers have touch screen monitors for sale. Support for Windows 8 should be native in many cases or require a driver download when available.

  • Monitor on Windows w/ Apache?

    Hello,
Is it possible to install GW Monitor on a Windows 2000 Server with Apache,
not IIS? I have one such server that I have been trying to install monitor
onto. I get the "GroupWise Monitor Install" window to pop up for a second,
but then the install exits. I have the newest Novell client installed, but
I do not have IIS installed on this server, just Apache. I'd really like
to avoid installing IIS if at all possible. I see that Monitor works on
NetWare with Apache, but they don't list Apache with Windows.

I assume you're referring to the Monitor *application*, yes? You can
definitely install it on Apache on Windows, but it needs Tomcat as well,
and is a completely "manual" installation (manual meaning you unpack the
various archives to their correct location on the server, then edit the
    various config files by hand.)
That said, are you sure you even *need* the Monitor application? What I
mean is, there are two web interfaces into Monitor: one is an embedded
HTTP server within Monitor agent itself, the other is the "monitor
application" that runs on a web server, and communicates with the
    monitor agent.
In years past the web interface to the monitor agent left a lot to be
desired, so many preferred the monitor application, even though it is an
extra layer of complexity to set up. But as of GW7 the monitor agent now
runs on Linux, and consequently they had to put all the "cool stuff"
that used to be exposed only via the monitor agent on windows into the
    web interface of the agent.
So, that's just a long way of asking if you're sure you need the monitor
application at all? Try hitting the monitor agent's web server and see
if it gives you the stats/control you need.
