Being prompted to enter credentials on WRT54G2

When I try to connect to my router I get prompted for User Name, Password and Logon domain.  I can't figure out why it's prompting me.  My wife's iphone can connect to it without any prompts for a user name and password.  Any help is very much appreciated.
This is how my wireless is set up.

Welcome. your laptop is running on Vista right? Since your router(WRT54G2) has a wi-fi setup, the reason why it's asking that credentials because your router's wireless settings might be setup automatically. You can setup your wireless settings either by manual (accessing the web UI and change the configuration type to manual) or automatic by just pressing the Push Button on your router. By doing it Automatic(pushing the Wi-Fi button) your using the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) method which will sometimes make Vista systems, when connecting wireless, requires you to input some credentials needed. To avoid experiencing this when your connecting to your network then setup your router's wireless settings manually.
If you want to learn and understand WPS more, i've added some info about it. You might want to take advantage of this new feature in your G2 router.
What is Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) and what are the advantages/disadvantages of using it?
It's the latest standard published by the Wi-Fi Alliance with the aim of simplifying the configuration process to establish a secure wireless home network. Previously, users need to manually setup a Wireless Network Name (SSID) and assign a passphrase as an encryption to secure their wireless network. Well, doing it manual can't be done without an extensive knowledge in wireless networking. With WPS, the entire configuration process will be automatically configured. It has two methods on how to configure this. By Push Button Configuration (PBC), in which the user simply has to push a button or by using Personal Information Number (PIN), in which a PIN is taken from a sticker or a display and entered into the Access Point (AP) or other WPS devices to connect. To learn more how to use the PBC and PIN method, click here.
Advantages of WPS
1. WPS automatically configures the wireless network.
2. There is no need to know the SSID and passphrase to connect to the wireless network.
3. The key is randomly generated and less predictable minimizing the risk of network intrusion.
4. Eliminates the need to enter complicated hexadecimal passphrase.
5. WPS introduce Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) in WPA2 encryption that allows secure transmission of sensitive information.
Disadvantages of WPS
1. Devices without WPS certification is not able to take advantage of the enhanced security provided by WPS.
2. Non WPS devices will require the user to enter the long hexadecimal passphrase manually.
3. WPS does not supports "Ad Hoc" connection that allows devices to communicate directly with each other. All connections must go through the AP.
4. Not all devices support WPS as the technology is still new.
Good day!

I am being prompted to enter security questions when making a purchase on my new IPad.  I don't believe I have ever setup security questions on my apple id.  I have tried logging into my apple id and have chosen the security and priviacy settings to set up security questions.  However I am prompted to enter answers to security questions and am told they don't match.  How to I create new security questions or reset them?

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • Consistently being prompted to enter Apple ID for iCloud and iTunes

Hi, I have an iPhone 4 and an iPod touch 5th gen. I'm consistently being asked to prompted to enter my password for my Apple ID for either iTunes or iCloud. I never had this issues until I updates to iOS 7.0.2 on my iPhone. I have a different apple id for the iCloud on my iPod and it doesn't prompt me for that one just for the apple id password of the one I use for iTunes and iCloud on my phone. Any insights?

This came up when I tried to enable Notes.  This may be the solution to my problem.  icloud / me won't work when you change from @yahoo to one of those domains.  Specifically it tells you no to use a Apple owned domain so I don't know.

  • Constantly being prompted to enter voicemail pass code

Hello all. So my dad has an first gen. 8GB iPhone. He is running the latest version of 2. X. So constantly he is getting prompted to enter the voicemail pass code. If he is on the home screens, that window will pop up asking for the code. If he's in an app, that window will pop up. It seems to happen every 30 seconds or. When it does come up, we enter the password, it accepts it and goes away. Then it would come back again. Neither of us have any clue why its doing this. Any help you could give would be very helpful.
    Thanks and Happy Holidays!
    Ben

Sometimes it is looking for the default password which is the last 7 digits of your phone number. You can also try resetting the password by dialing 611, selecting option 3, then option 3 again.
If that still does not work, check with AT&T to see if anything got reset on the account.

  • Users are being prompted for Admin credentials when they attempt to print.

Hello!  I am a Tech assistant at a public school and we have run into an issue with our students and their MacBooks & MacBook Pros.
Whenever our students attempt to print to any printer in their school building they are prompted for administrator credentials.  I have attached examples of the message they are getting:
We are not sure how to go about tackling this issue.  We are getting this message on both MacBooks and MacBook Pros.  They are all running Mountain Lion.  Last year they were all on Lion and we never had this issue.  Could this possibly be a known issue with Mountain Lion???  Once we type in the administrator credentials for the students they are able to print from then on.  Many of the students are also seeing this message when they try to print at their homes.  It seems to have something to do with printing permissions but we're just not sure.  Any help would be very much appreciated!
    Thanks!

You used Workgroup Manager, Profile Manager, or Parental Controls to restrict users from printing or adding a print queue. Remove or modify those restrictions the same way.

  • I am being prompted to enter a serial number after entering my Adobe ID

I'm experiencing a similiar problem. After downloading and installing from the manager, the program opens up as a trial version, which then asks for me to put in a serial number. I was under the believe that Creative Cloud needs no serial number. After attempting to get help from Tech Support via the chat, both representatives gave me roundabout answers, including one that said something about "24 hour activiation"? This is very frustrating. Along with work, I'm beginning to feel that I lost money behind this.

I assumed this would help my problem with not being able to open apps like Preview or TextEdit since I installed Mountain Lion. Instead, first I'm prompted to enter a password, then once I do that, I get an error box telling me the Library needs repairing. Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click the following line to select it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -Rh $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Step 1 should give you usable permissions in your home folder. This step will restore special attributes set by OS X on some user folders to protect them from unintended deletion or renaming. You can skip this step if you don't consider that protection to be necessary, and if everything is working as expected after step 1.
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

And it seems to go to the home page (http://localhost/home} after failing the credentials.

    Extended Protection:Accept
    Enable Kernel mode authentication: ticked
    Provider:NTLM
    ASP.Impersnation :disable

You put allowanonymous so everyone has the right. It will not be authenticated.

  • Users in new OU in Active Directory have to enter credentials when accessing SharePoint Foundation 2013

    Hi,
We have a SharePoint farm consisting of one web front end server and one database server, running SharePoint Foundation 2013.  This farm has been up and running for over a year and uses AD for authentication, and SharePoint groups for authorization.
The problem we are seeing is when we create a new Organizational Unit in AD, and add users under this new OU they are prompted for their credentials when trying to access SharePoint.  We've done the below tests to narrow the issue down:
    1) New user (xxx) in new OU (111) logs into Windows PC and tries to access SharePoint via IE 10 -- they are prompted for their credentials. They are required to enter their username as 'domain\username' to be able to log in successfully to SharePoint.
    2) Existing user (yyy), in existing OU (222) logs into same Windows PC and tries to access SharePoint via IE 10 -- they are NOT prompted for their credentials and get into SharePoint successfully.
    3) Existing user (yyy) is moved into new OU (111), logs into same Windows PC and tries to access SharePoint via IE 10 -- they are prompted for credentials and need to use 'domain\username' to log in to SharePoint
    4) Existing user (yyy) is moved out of new OU (111) and back into their old OU (222), logs into same Windows PC and tries to access SharePoint via IE 10 -- they are prompted for credentials and need to use 'domain\username' to log in to SharePoint
Note: both the new OU (111) and old OU (222) are within the same parent OU.
1 & 2 combined tell me that it's not a PC or IE issue. We've also tried 1 & 2 on multiple PCs so that would eliminate a profile issue as well.
To me it seems that SharePoint doesn't know that the new OU is in our domain, so it doesn't think the users within the new OU are in our domain, which is why they have to supply the domain with their username when logging in...but I'm not exactly an expert
when it comes to AD so this is just a guess on my part.
As a long shot, what I thought may fix it would be by syncing AD with SharePoint by using User Profile Synchronization, but it's not offered as part of SharePoint Foundation, so I used this nice solution at CodePlex (https://foundationsync.codeplex.com/),
but that did not fix it.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?  Or what the issue may be?
    Thanks,
    Shaun

    Hi Christopher,
    Thanks for the reply.
I feel very stupid right now -- I did look at this before posting this question to the forum, but it seems I didn't look far enough.
We have a GPO that enters our domain into the 'Local intranet' of IE.  Our SharePoint site's URL is "http://sharepoint.ourdomain.com" and we've got "*.ourdomain.com" under Local intranet sites.  But, I also found the FQDN "sharepoint.ourdomain.com"
under 'Trusted sites' and that seems to confuse SharePoint because once I moved the FQDN to Local intranet, and removed it from Trusted Sites, the user is now not prompted for their credentials when going into SharePoint.
Thanks for your reply in making me take a second look.
EDIT: We've just removed the FQDN from Local intranet, so all we have is "*.ourdomain.com" under Local intranet and it works as well.
    Regards,
    Shaun

  • When trying to open any of the 4 apps in  Adobe Creative Suite Design Standard I own outright, , I am unable to use the software and instead am being prompted to "Renew your Subscription to Creative Cloud".  Please help me

I have purchased and used Adobe Products for 25+ years and I own CS6 Design Standard outright.
I  had previously  subscribed to Adobe Creative Cloud  but did not renew the annual subscription.
The CS6 Design Standard serial number is listed in my Adobe user account.    I have run the the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaning tool, uninstalled  the Adobe Creative Cloud App and all other CC apps from my iMac.  I reinstalled  fresh copies of the CS6 software two different times, first from  my CS6 DVD disk and then from the  Adobe Download page.  During each installation of CS6, all seemed to run normally and I was prompted to enter the license number and it was accepted.  However, when trying to open the software after completing the installation, I am being prevented from doing so without renewing the Creative Cloud  subscription.
Who knows of a solution to this problem?
Contacting Adobe’s Chat support and Customer Support portal has not resulted in a solution, even though they have confirmed the license number as being accurate and linked to my account.  After weeks of waiting on their responses, yesterday I was told to go to the Forums to find a solution….Please Help Me….Thanks

I am not familiar with the process involved with the link I am providing so please accept my apology if it is a repeat of something you have already tried...
How do I prevent Creative Cloud from taking over my CS6 perpetual license?

  • I'm being asked to enter my ID password on my ipad for icloud, but the email is no longer active and reset remails are not being received.

I'm being asked to enter my ID pswd on my ipad 2 for icloud. but the email address and ID are no longer being used, and reset emails are not being received. How can I deactivate this? I have another ID which works fine, but this issue with the old ID is not allowing me to use my ipad.  thanks.

If your iPad is signed into an old ID and you are trying to change it, if the old ID is yours, and if it is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • An extra prompt appears for Credentials Opening Office Document in Workspac

    Hi,
Anybody have any knowledge about this issue? and how to solve these issue?
*6959959* An extra prompt appears for Credentials Opening Office Document using Internet Explorer with Smartcut or from EPM Workspace.
If a security agent with a cookie-based session management mechanism is used, opening Microsoft Office documents from Microsoft Internet Explorer sometimes another prompt for credentials is displayed. This occurs because Microsoft Office issues an HTTP OPTIONS request when attempting to open documents. This OPTIONS request does not contain the same session-related cookies as requests made from the browser, so the security provider issues the prompt for credentials. Please see http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;838028 for details about how Microsoft Office and Microsoft Internet Explorer open documents.
To resolve this issue, reconfigure the security provider by disabling authentication for OPTIONS requests.
    Thanks in Advance.

Not sure if this is what you are describing or not, but please take a look at Document ID 1350828.1 (I have pasted the text below):

    2. Take a backup copy of the HReports.ear file.
    3. Rename the file to zip and extract the "hr.war".
    4. HReports.ear file contains hr.war, where inside this file in the "web-inf" folder there is the web.xml file.
    5. Edit the web.xml file with a text editor and add the same syntax as the earlier release, at the end before the very last line---></web-app>
