Being required to use "Force Reload" frequently
SOME INTERNET SITES/PAGES ONLY PARTIALLY LOADING. IN ORDER TO COMPLETELY OPEN SITE, I HAVE TO DO "FORCE RELOAD." HAVE RUN DIAGNOSTICS, REGULARLY SECURE EMPTY TRASH, RUN VIRUS SCANS, CCLEANER, AND RUN BROADBAND TEST. IS THERE A CONCERN WITH MY IMAC?
No. Adobe Reader is for PDFs (documents).

Safari always requiring "Force Reload" - OSX 10.9.4/Safari 7.0.5
Over the last week - MANY webpages are continually "not responding" - "force reload"? Not just one particular page...it's been various pages (so presume it's not just 'server issues' for a particular page. Looks to be from my end... Tried to "clear history", "empty the cache" & "remove cookies" (which was what I did last time I had Safari issues -- years ago), but that doesn't seem to be addressing the problem. It's not my "provider" - cause other devices (connected by WiFi) are operating & loading just fine. (Hopefully) Below is a picture of just a sample of what I keep getting... HELP!
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2. -
White screen after forced reload (used to fix previous white screen issue)
Last Friday after doing a battery pull to clear a stuck Facebook notification, upon reboot my Curve 8520's screen faded to white. I immediately did another battery pull, but then the same thing happened again. It did not return to normal until I plugged it into my wall charger.
I called my carrier, Rogers, about the issue and they sent me instructions to do a forced reload. I didn't have my USB cable until today, so I followed all the instructions for the forced reload this morning. After it went through and re-installed the software, I did a restore using the Desktop Manager. I'd been slowly working through re-installing all my applications when it froze up, so I did a battery pull. It did the "white screen of death" again after the reboot. Now it's just happening at random (ie. while waiting for a website to load), but still gets fixed temporarily if I plug it into the charger.
Is there anything else I can try to fix this? I can't exactly carry my wall charger around everywhere just in case this happens.
Another note: I'm nearly 2 years into my 3-year contract and am upset that this device isn't living up to the term. I can't afford a new phone and I don't want to get locked into another 3 yearsSo it's just happened again, this time without the battery pull. I was downloading the Toronto Maple Leafs app from mapleleafs.mobi, and it was nearly completed when the screen faded to white. This is very frustrating

How can I stop Safari 5.1.4 from Force Reloading 15 times a day?
I waited a long time to upgrade to Safari 5.1 because the first time I installed it, it kept my fan on constantly / ate up all my CPU. I deinstalled and got the previous version. Finally, when no longer able to watch BBC content, I upgraded and got 5.1.4.
Safari used to work great. Now it decides that it has to force reload all pages about once every 40 minutes. It dumps all my cookies so I have to sign back into everything I had open - the facebook, Netflix, twitter, email, etc. It doesn't even remember what Netflix movie you were watching so you have to rebrowse - just because of the force reload. And if you somehow miss clicking on every open tab at the time to start the reload, then the next time you go to that tab it will start all the reloads again. Sometimes I just force quit Safari altogether and restart, clear my whole cache and dump all my cookies. Then I can get a clean hour out of it.
It takes up endless time to suffer through this bug and I see that it has been a bug for well over a year. What, if anything can one do about this? Why hasn't it been fixed?Hi Bee -
Yes, only with Tabs - but how can one use the Internet without tabs!
I have Firefox but it has never force reloaded anything. I use it often because I have different proxy addresses on different browsers and that one is connected to my school library.
I will look at the activity monitor and see what is going on next time it happens. I watch the activity monitor alot, and this is one reason I can't use Chrome because it eats all my CPU stuff.
I will try this "test" account thing as soon as I get a chance. I am writing and I need access to my bookmarks :-(
I only have one crash in my folder and it is very long but I will paste it below.
I should mention that since upgrading to 5.1.4 I also have this annoying thing where the scroll button on my mouse, which used to let me scroll side to side, now opens whatever I am near in a new tab. This is also irritating, but I don't know if it is connected. Thanks for being so nice.

Safari force reload/visit page
I like the force reload all tabs/visit page,it allows me to keep all my windows and tabs open without consuming ram or processing, how do I manually activate this?
It's not a specific thing, just that when you upgrade to a whole new operating system there are always tweaks and issues that arise, usually as many problems as there are improvements, at least until you get all the kinks worked out.
Also, if you read all the posts of those who upgraded, they've reported certain things that don't work anymore, or at least not the same. To be honest, I haven't read anything that sounds good enough to upgrade, but I have read a lot of things that don't appeal to me. There are many examples, from the User Library being hidden to not being able to use AppleWorks (yes it's old, but I still love it and it runs solidly) or anything running Rosetta again, etc. I learned long ago when you reach a stable place that offers all you need stay with it as long as everything works and there's nothing vital you need in the upgrade (in other words, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"). This is more true now than ten years ago, when they were still making considerable and necessary improvements to OS X. When everything you use and depend on works perfectly and you upgrade and pay more money just because you feel you need "the latest and greatest" you're often asking for trouble. I rely on my computer for too many things personal and business-related to spend several weeks trying to figure out why this or that doesn't work nor or to have a certain app no longer usable. Just my 2¢. -
Ever since the systyem upgraded me to 3.6.6. I can not even run one eight hour day without firefoc either crashing or locking up which requires me use C/A/Deleate to close the program. I used to be able to run 8 to 12 windows at a time and NEVER lock up or crash with the older version. Is this problem being looked into and or being corrected. I use Firefox with Google and my system is XP Pro 32 bit. THIS IS REALLY making me MAD. My email is [email protected] and would appreciate a response to this ASAP. I have tried a couple of items from your help section and nothing works.

''<u>'''Safe Mode'''</u>''
You may need to use '''[[Safe Mode]]''' (click on "Safe Mode" and read) to localize the problem. Firefox Safe Mode is a diagnostic mode that disables Extensions and some other features of Firefox. If you are using a theme, switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes <u>'''before'''</u> starting Safe Mode. When entering Safe Mode, do not check any items on the entry window, just click "Continue in Safe Mode". Test to see if the problem you are experiencing is corrected.
See:
'''[[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]'''

'''[[Basic Troubleshooting]]'''
If the problem does not occur in Safe-mode then disable all of your Extensions and Plug-ins and then try to find which is causing it by enabling <u>'''one at a time'''</u> until the problem reappears. <u>'''You MUST close and restart Firefox after EACH change'''</u> via File > Restart Firefox (on Mac: Firefox > Quit). You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window.

I have an Iphone5s and use Verizon. Frequently when I am on a call, it sounds as if there is an incoming call but it does not show up in call waiting or in missed calls. When I went to check on line, the fix involved a screen that I did not even have on my phone. Anyone else have this problem and is there a solution? I can't seem to get tech support at Verizon. Boo.
Hi Debsy1,
Thanks for the additional details! Let's get this issue resolved. What software version is the device on? Please reset the Network Settings on the device. Go to settings>general>reset>reset network settings. Please Note: Audio alerts may also indicate delivery of incoming text messages or emails. The tone will vary based on the type of information being delivered to the device. Tones may also indicate low battery charge or inadequate signal strength. Keep me posted with results.
Thanks,

How to determine the JDK version required to use a jar?
Hi all.
I am using a hosted server that uses JDK 1.4.2 and I cannot upgrade the VM. I have been finding it extremely difficult to install web applications on this server since I find that after installing the app, the web server complains the bytecode used in the jar is newer than the VM can understand (or it complains that the app uses JEE servlet or JSP methods it cannot find).
To compound the problem, only about 25% of the sites I've visited that provide jars for download mention the minumum JDK version required to use them. (Some do not mention any system requirements at all besides 'requires Java and a Java application server').
Do any of you know of any tools that can analyze a jar and determine the bytecode version it uses?
(Another helpful tool would be one that can determine the minimum JEE APIs required to run a web app..., but that's probably wishful thinking :)).
Thanks for your help.
Michael N. ChristoffThe major/minor version of the class file is the way to go.
Also, it's not necessary to write a separate program to get to those. javap prints them out when being passed the -v flag.
Note, however that "JDK version" is not a correct term, as I can create 1.4-compatible class files with a Java 6 JDK (by passing the -target flag to javac). Those won't look any different than .class files written with a 1.4 JDK. -
Please help. I recently upgraded to IOS 8.2 and i realised
that all my downloaded videos from itunes have somewhat vanished. I see the
cloud sign with the downward arrow. However they won’t play, i am being
required to DOWNLOAD them again. This is both in my iPhone and Ipad. Is there
any other way to go around this? As I do not want to download a second time,
that would cost me more money.Hello ogojohn,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
The icon indicates an item that is available for download. This is usually because it has been downloaded previously by the account you are logged in under and will not be charge again for the download. See the following article, while it references iTunes for Mac and not iOS, it is the same.
iTunes 12 for Mac: Download previous purchases from the iTunes Store

I keep getting this error message and the spinning wheel on all websites, any fix? (Webpages are not responding, so loading cannot be stopped. Do you want to force reload this page and all pages in other tabs and windows?)
Hi, this has worked for a few...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
10.7…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

OID required to use 9iAS Tools
I need some clarification ...
I'm being told that if I want to use Portal or Discoverer on Oracle 9iAS Release 2 I am required to use the Oracle Internet Directory. Is this really true? I realize that Oracle Internet Directory is going to be the main authentication mechanism for the other Oracle applications (Financials etc) but does that include Discoverer, Portal, Reports etc?
Thanks,
RichBill, you asked:
Do I have to have some sort of X display running at all times on the server where IAS is installed?
--> No, it is not required to run X display all the times on the server where Oracle9iAS is installed.
Or, do you only need the X Display for certain features/components? If the latter, then which features/components need it?
--> You got it right. You need it for certain features/components. Here is a list of them:
Reports, Discoverer, Enterprise Manager, and any customer application using the BI Graph bean and certain Bali controls -
Safari force reloads tabs, works slow, half opens webpages, unclickable links
I am running Safari Version 6.0.5 (8536.30.1) on OSX 10.8.5. Then out of a blue pages in Safari started loading eternally slow. Either the blue line over the webpage address would start running and freeze with a simple site site loading minutes, or a site would load actually more or less ok but after scrolling down:
- many links would become unclickable as if there were any
- the webpage would load, but after scrolling back and forth part of it would turn white and not scroll down any more, although it did show the whole page just moment ago
- part of the page loads and other part is displaid as white space.
Resetting Safari, clearing Web site data and cookies, CleanMyMac-ing, all these to no avail. At some point playing around and trying to load different web sites in Safari I got the following message:
Webpages are not responding. To visit the selected webpage, all webpages in other tabs and windows must be force reloaded. Do you want to visit this page? Force reloading might lose information you've entered.
with CANCEL or VISIT PAGE to react. Clicking on either did not resolve the problem.
I have neither installed any software nor Safari extensions. Except maybe the most recent OSX update yesterday which was necessary for iTunes getting iRadio. Google, Opera, Firefox are all running perfectly just like Safari has been doing until today.
Any idea what is wrong? Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2. -
Compile all "in use" Forced Authorization Codes
Good morning. I'd like to compile a report of all in use Forced authorization codes. We'd like to compare our current available codes to that of which is in use. I've gone into call manager and looked around for a default function to export as csv all accounts, but there is nothing available. Does this require a sql query? If so, does anybody have the code to do so? Thanks to all in advance.

A week ago, I downloaded the sample code examples. Then I extracted the reverse sample code, loaded it and ran it. All was well.
I was just using it as a resource for example code, so no code changes. Now, when I open the project, I get nothing loaded.
Solution explorer displays Solution 'Reversi' (0 Projects). Below that
"The project requires user input. Reload the project for more information."
This message shows for all three sections Reversi, ReversiGameComponet, and ReversiComponentTests.
Ok, so I figure I must have accidently changed something. So, I re-extract. Same message.
The only thing I can think of is that in the options, I changed the startup location for my projects. I like to keep my code projects on the d: drive, so I changed that to D:\!!!W8. I've always done this so that when I create a new project,
it does it in my project directory by default. Didn't change anything else such as the templates dir.
I did set this back to the c:....projects, as where templates are, but that didn't help. So, I reset to my projects directory.
My project that I created loads ok.

Playing Quicktime in the finder in Leopart
I'm sorry I can't find any postings on this, so have to ask now, but having just upgraded to OS 10.5, I find that quicktime movies now show in the finder with only a central "play" arrow head, and no controller under the image. THis is a pain, as I f
