Belatedly upgraded to iTunes 11; iCloud and syncing issues with iPod

There are now a bunch of tracks in my library listed as iCloud tracks; confusingly, some are duplicates of other tracks, and some are not. Also, with no other change than the iTunes upgrade, it's telling me that I'm way over the limit and can't sync my library to my iPod. I'm sure this is simple but I can't figure it out. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

diesel vdub, i use 11.1.1
solved the issue today. first sync with itunes, so all the stiff you bought on the mobile will be backuped.
1. uncheck sync music in itunes and sync. all the music will be erased from mobile device
2. check music player on the mobile device. just the unwanted songs will still be there
3. go on the iphone to settings, general, usage, music player. there is just a few mb from the remaining unwanted songs. swipeleft and erase the content. switch iphone off and on again
4. repeat step 2. there will be no data. otherwise repeat step 3
5. check sync music in itunes and sync. all the music will be back again but not the unwanted songs.

  • ICloud and Syncing Issues (Couldn't find in other threads)

I have been reading through a ton of threads asking similar questions, but have not found one exactly like mine so I am hoping for some insight here. First off we have an iMac, 2 macbooks, two iPhones, an iPod Touch, and several other iPods too. We have switched to iCloud.
In my family we have a joint account and two individual accounts.  I use my individual account for everything (iTunes, Cals, Contacts,...) and my husband has a .yahoo.com account he uses for iTunes and then he uses his individual account for everything else (Cals, Contacts,...).  Several things we want to accomplish and have been trying to without total luck:
1: Enjoy the same music, apps, tv shows... on ONE iTunes account, BUT be able to sync our iPhones & iPods to our own tastes
    2. We want to share an address book over all of our accounts. How can we make them all the same? I don't think I can sync different things to different accounts like contacts using joint email and then email using individual account IDs and iTunes with yet another? So CONFUSING!
    3. I also use a PC (blah) at work and use Outlook for email, calendar and contacts. I would like to import a "work" contact list into the address book that my husand doesn't have to look at since it ill mean nothing to him.
    4. I use google calendar and would like to have it sync to iCal and Outlook without creating a million duplicate events.
We have different IDs, which I have learned that we will not be able to merge IDs due to big music companies, but we want some fluidity between our accounts which is good for them, but bad for families.
Anyway I know this is a lot of questons, but I am hoping for some insight.
Also I thought iTunes matches was supposed to release at the end of October????

Hi, here is how to remove it by yourself...
    http://goo.gl/J7R6A
Script that I create which, will help you remove it ..... (Let me know using the contact at that site.)
    http://goo.gl/rGV62
    What is does.
Depending on the version it just creates a bunch of random fake notification and claims your infected. If you keep getting it then most likely you have Allow popups and "Open Safe files" in safari on. The only damage is if you give the criminals that created it your Credit Card.
It is changing so it depend on the version but these two links should help.

  • Major CalDav and Syncing Issues with Ical and Address Book

As a CEO and business owner - I loved the move over to Mac after the intel chip as installed.  Yet, the issue of working on a Mac for business comes down to the operating system.  Up to Snow Leopard I was very pleased.... since Lion it has gone downhill.   I upgraded to Mountain Lion and many of the issues with speed and problems with mail were addressed.  Yet, it appears Apple has made a bad decision with regard to synciing to other programs.
I was told it has cut out syncing capablities for Address book and Ical (I assume other programs).  This has caused great issues for The Omni Group, File Maker and Market Cirlce (creators of Daylite) and a lot of angst for me as a business owner!
To top this off - it appears CalDav is not bi-directional and has issues.  In other words, it does not work as it should.
I am not sure what Apple was thining when it stopped allowing internal sync between programs. Yet, CalDav and CardDav are not always the answers!
I hope the CalDav issues are being cleaned up and if anyone from Apple wishes to comment on this I would appreciate it.  I have tried to talk to support but the powers to be are the ones calling the shots on software design.  Support can't fix what is broken the program.
Again, I hope Apple revisits syncing.  Maybe the concern is security but it is MY DATA not yours.  I just want the programs to work so I can make sales and support my customers efficiently.   You have made it hard to do this with changes.
    David

As an IT consultant,  i'm in agreement with Mr Utts.    The promise of "it just works" died with Steve Jobs.   Mac OS has been in freefall since 10.5 .    I need a fully functional OS,  not an iPad on my desk.  ( this means YOU Forstall !! )
Why break Samba ( a standard ),  why break WebDAV ( a standard ), why break CalDAV ( a standard )??    Apple has done ALL of these things and they seem to be doing it on purpose.
The Apple "ecosystem" is just fine,  but removing functionality as fast as you can, and removing interoperablity as fast as you can...  if Apple products ONLY work within the ecosystem... people can and will leave Apple.    You've already run off the business users by refusing to make a real Server or real Server software.   You ran off the video user with Final Cut Pro X.   Dumbing down (and breaking) the OS is running off the IT User.
Mac OS used to easily walk the line of "hard core enough for a Unix Guru,  easy enough for your Mom".  Now they just want the Moms.
And i disagree,  we are ALL "qualified to say what Apple might do about this...",  they will do nothing.   They don't beleive they have made a mistake.  They beleive WE are the problem by stubbornly insisting that things that used to work should continue to work.

  • Address Book and Sync Issues with Verizon Curve

I got my first BB about a month ago and like it, for the most part.  I have three major issues with it now:
    1.  SYNC   I've downloaded and installed the latest software from pocket mac and my first sync went fine (I have a MacBook Pro running 10.4.11).  Every sync after that has failed.  I've tried the recommended solutions like cleaning out the sync history, re-installing, etc.  I've un-installed and re-installed several times with no change.  The sync begins fine and but never finishes.  One thing that could be a problem is the version - every time I download the software, I've clicked on the newest version, (PocketMacForBlackBerry4.1.25.dmg) but after it installs, it calls itself Version 1.2 (1.4).  Shouldn't it be 4.1?  I know there are issues with older versions, but I can't seem to get 4.1 installed.
    2.  ADDRESS BOOK    Sinse my first and only sync, I've needed to add a LOT of contacts into my address book manually.  It doesn't work most of the time.  When I add a new contact and save, it won't exit the contact, but pops up this note:  "Address updated externally, changes will be lost and the viewer closed."  The same thing happens if I'm trying to create a new entry or edit an existing entry.  The real crazy part is that many of the numbers I've added show up when they are incoming calls - the name and correct phone number, but when I try to call out on my phone, the contact info will not show.
    3.  GPS    Not a major deal, but none of the GPS services work.  I use the Google Maps mobile app, but the GPS does not work.  Neither does any of the other software I have installed for GPS.  I have gone into the preferences and enabled the GPS and saved the changes.  The logo even appears on the main screen, it just doesn't work.  *NOTE* I've found that Verizon has disabled the GPS unless you pay for the VZ Navigator service.  Typical Verizon marketing.  Is there any way to bypass Verizon's block?
Needless to say, I'm not very impressed with Pocket Mac software of the RIM address book utility.  I've read over many of the posts in this forum and see many other frustrated users.  Makes me really think about throwing my money at an iPhone.
If anyone has any solutions to my problems/frustrations, I would be VERY grateful.
    thanks for your time,

I cannot say I AGREE! any louder.
This pocketmac people claim in the website to offer "solutions" but they have given me lots of headaches and I too would just go and buy an iphone. The only problem is that AT&T does not work in my house.
No matter how many tricks I have tried I cannot make my 8330 accept the changes i make in my address book. It is absolutely a killer.
Some previous user said that bluettoth could help but at any rate that was to over ride the address book with the 8330 data and in my case i was trying to do the opposite.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

  • ITunes 11.2 sync issues with ipod classic 160gig

I have many Macs, and I have had issues in the past with my iPod classic 160 gig not being fully recognized by my main computer (MacBookPro 17") running itunes 11.2 and OS 10.6. Basically itunes freezes just after my ipod comes up on the sidebar, I can open force quit and itunes is not responding. I have tried using other cables and it doesn't help. I'd like to wipe the drive but I don't know if it is possible without connecting to a computer and all of mine won't initialize it.
What can I do to even start over and load all my music over again?

I figured out how to put it in recovery mode and I'm starting over, this ipod is more work than it's worth.

  • Syncing issues with iPod nano 6th generation

I just had my dell laptop re-imaged. I have Window 7 as the operating system. My iPod 6th generation nano shows up in iTunes but music and audiobooks will no longer sync. I am able to get them to sync when hooked to other computers. Any advice?

    Hello bell57
Try restoring your iPod nano with iTunes and then setup the sync again to see if it starts to sync normally again.

  • HELP: iTunes 6 unable to sync songs with ipod - hangs freezes crashes

    Hi,
This has been posted before, but a search of 500 messages have turned up no solutions. Anyone who has any idea of a solution please help.
    PROBLEM:
iTunes 6 and ipod 5th gen unable to sync songs or manually move more than 50 songs at a time to ipod. It hangs / freezes / crashes when updating the ipod. It will stop at 50 songs, 100 songs, sometimes even 2200 songs - out of 8000.
The "Beachball of death" comes on, and there is no way to force quit or stop the now frozen update. The only thing that gets a response is pulling the ipod from the dock or powering the computer down manually.
    TRIED:
    1. Repair permissions
    2. Update ipod with latest ipod update software
    3. Restore ipod " " " " '
    4. Used Activity Monitor to see where program hangs - no added info, it will stop randomly at different songs, and next time around it will pick another son to hang / freeze at
    5. uncheck "put hard disks to sleep when possible" in Energy Preferences pane
I am at my wits end with this..... will try anything.... even Voodoo at this point as long as you tell me it worked for you!
Anyone ever solved this long standing problem (which seems to be present with iTunes 7 as well) ?
    Thanks !

  • Updates and syncing issues with iPhone 4 and MacBook

Tried to sync my iPhone 4 to computer, says "could not be synced because the sync session failed to start." I have a MacBook with OS X 10.6.8; iTunes update 11.1.3; and iPhone IOS 7.0.4. Can someone please give me some direction?

    Hi bikeski1234,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
As a first step, I would suggest quitting your open apps:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Then sign out of iTunes:
iOS: Changing the signed-in iTunes Store Apple ID account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1311?viewlocale=en_US
    Restart and/or reset the device:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
    Then try syncing again …
    Cheers,

  • Syncing issues with Ipod and Nike

    Hi,
I have a new Ipod Nano 7th generation. I use the Nike + app when I run. After each run I sync my Ipod via Itunes to send the stats from my run to the Nike + website. That all works fine. The problem is that when I disconnect my Ipod (properly) after sending my Nike + data via ITunes, all the music is gone from my Ipod.
I then reconnect my Ipod and when ITunes opens, ITunes it shows that my music and playlists exist on the Ipod. But in fact it is not. So when I recopy the music to the Ipod it forces me to restore the Ipod and then I have to configure it from scratch.
This is very annoying and it happens every time I connect my Ipod and send my Nike + data. My desktop is running Windows 8 64 bit and ITunes 11 is the latest version.
I actually returned the Ipod to Walmart today and they gave me a new Ipod. It is doing the exact same thing.
    Pleas help!
    Thanks

  • Syncing issues with iPod Touch - missing albums & artwork

What do you do when you have synced your whole library but some albums/songs haven't transferred? Then when you try a second time, ALL artwork disappears from the iPod Touch? I daren't try syncing again as I don't know what's going to disappear next.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Manage Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Sync issues with Ipod video

Hi - I just got my daughter an ipod video, and rented her a movie and I can't get her ipod to sync - it says the required "disc" is missing. I've run it through all the diagnostics and they check out okay. I'm a total novice, so any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Janet

Same problem here - music syncs - tv shows do not.
Just for the record, I have not purchased an Apple product yet that has not had extreme issues (iphone was the last one and an Apple I purchases for video editing).

  • I'm having weird syncing issues with iPod.

I just played a song using my iPod, then synced my iPod. When I looked at my "Recently Played" smart playlist, it said I just played an entirely different song. What's up with that?

You can only pair your iPhone 4s to the computer for tethering, you can't sync with it. Are you trying to pair your 7th gen to play music through the MBP speakers?

  • Upgraded to iTunes 9.2 and iPhone 4 -- all of my third-party apps missing

I'm not exactly sure where the issue came from, but I somehow lost all of my apps as I upgraded to iTunes 9.2 and the iPhone 4 today. But I figured out what happened and *I have the solution*, which I'd like to share...
This occurred on June 24, 2010 (iPhone 4 launch day). The steps I took to upgrade to iTunes 9.2 and iPhone 4 were as such:
    1) I did a full sync and backup of my iPhone 3GS with iTunes 9.1.
    2) I upgraded iTunes 9.1.x.xx to iTunes 9.2.0.61 (the first version compatible with iPhone 4).
    3) I activated my new iPhone 4 and set it up based on my 3GS's back up data.
    4) When it was done setting up the iPhone 4, I noticed that all of the native apps and their app data were intact, but I was missing all of my third-party app store apps. Note that all the apps on my 3GS were obviously still intact.
    5) I noticed that I had zero apps in the iTunes library (at the top left under "Library"). Thus, with my 3GS plugged in, I right clicked on the iPhone in iTunes under "Devices" and selected "Transfer Purchases". This transferred all of the apps on my 3GS to the iTunes library.
    6) I plugged in my iPhone 4, and noticed that on the "Apps" tab under "Devices / iPhone name", the "Sync Apps" box was unchecked. So I checked it, and it gives you a scary message saying that all of the apps in the iTunes Library (which I had just populated in step 5) will overwrite the app data on your iPhone. I didn't have any app data on my iPhone 4, so I clicked "OK". All of the apps transferred from the iTunes Library to my iPhone 4 with all of the app data (game saves, etc) intact.
So that's my solution. I'm sure this must be happening to other people. My main piece of advice is: after upgrading to iTunes 9.2 and syncing your old phone for the last time, make sure you have apps in your App Library and "Sync Apps" is checked. If not, follow the steps above.
This same issue also happened to my friend, but he doesn't have his old iPhone 3GS to restore the app data from. If anyone has any suggestions as to how he can save his app data, please let me know. Thanks.
    Craig

Well this won't work for me...
I had all of my apps and music stored in iTunes, I updated to the newest 9.2 iTunes and did a 4.0 update to my iPhone 3G all the while not noticing that EVERYTHING IN iTUNES was GONE. When I got done updating my iPhone it was late so i went to bed... Next day came back to sync everything and thats when I saw it was all gone...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1451
did what the link said and NOW I have all my 6K+ MUSIC back but not ONE APP. The App's are completely gone from when you nav. to the location the link says... There isn't a mobile sync folder there...
NOT SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT... Very Frustrated and MAD. I don't want to redownload all my apps manually. TO many to do it that way.

  • No Sync of contacts+calender since upgrade to iTunes 7.7 and/or iPhone 2.0

Windows Vista, Outlook 2007, iTunes 7.7, iPhone 2.0
After Upgrading to iTunes 7.7 and iPhone 2.0 neither my contacts nor my calender syncs anymore.
Often (but not allways), when connecting iPhone to my PC, I am getting the error "iTunes was unable to load provider data from Sync Services. Reconnect or try later"
When this happens, most of the time (but not always) my entries for syncing calender, contacts etc. under "Info" are missing. In these cases synching is not possile at all.
In those rare occasions, when the entries are not missing, ...
... synchronizing takes > 30 Minutes (much longer then before the update)
... new calender and contact data in Outlook are ot syncronized to iPhone and vice versa
    Note:
    1. De- and Re-Installing iTunes (íncl. Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Software Update und Quicktime) did not solve the problem
    2. Resetting the sync history did not solve the problem
    3. Deleting data backup did not solve the problem
    4. When Syncronizing at a different windows user I do not receive the error "iTunes was unable to load provider data from Sync Services", but still: syncing does not work!
    5. On my iPhone there are 2 calenders: Home and "Outloook Calender"
    6. There were backups of two different iPhones in my iTune (which I have deleted)
    7. All podcasts were gone from my iPhone - after resetting the sync history there were transfered by to iPhone
    8. Right after the update, iTunes wanted to update each contact in Outlook (which I did not allow) - after resetting the sync history this message did not appear again
Anyone any idea? I love my iPhone but when I cannot trust that data is not in synch between Outlook an IPhone its not much more than a mobile phone!

I ran into this the first immeidately after upgrading to 7.7 (at least the calendars, I didn't have much of an issue with contacts). Long story short, I think it has to do with the "Home" sub-calendar it creates. Removing this and redirecting new events back to Calendar does not resolve the issue. It seems that whatever it does, corrupts the Outlook Data File (PST file) permenently.
Fortunately for me, my profile at home is very simple and I only use it to sync personal events and contacts. I tried a number of "fixes" including resetting the sync history in iTunes, rebooting multiple times etc. What fixed it for me was the following (though I would only recommend it if you know what you are doing as you can mess up your entire outlook profile if you don't). This is the short short version of these instructions... if you don't know how to accomplish these steps I'd suggest asking someone that does. BTW, this only deals with a simple profile with calendars and contacts. If your profile contains a lot of additional personal information that the iPhone does not support (notes, etc.) you will need to export these folders into individual files for later import into the reconstructed PST file.
    1) Disconnect the iPhone and close everything down (iTunes, Outlook, etc), make a backup of your PST file just in case things go wrong.
    2) Create a new data file and set it as the default.
    3) Open iTunes (before connecting the iPhone again) and click the Reset Sync History button in the preferences.
    4) Open up outlook just to make sure the new profile is working, then close it again.
    5) Connect the phone to have it sync your contacts and calendars back to outlook.
    6) The sync of both contacts and calendars should work correctly now.
Again, please note that these instructions left a lot of detail out concerning the individual steps. If you need help with these I'd suggest seeking out someone that has some experience with this process for help to reduce the risk of losing data in the process.
The bottom line for me was that it seemed that recreating the PST file and reimporting the data (not just copying the whole file into a new one) fixed the issue for me. Obviously, one would hope that Apple devises a better solution than this in the long term.
