Belgian azerty keyb - superscript 2 - HOWTO?

Hi everyone,
Just recently joined the Mac world. I'm a mixed user of linux, mac and windows (compatibility issues)systems. Not afraid to make use of terminal / command line.
I've done quite some searching on how to get e.g. superscript 2.
The only way I found is using the Character Viewer. (enable in system preferences, then click the flag icon, top right)
*+Is there any OTHER way to get the superscript 2 sign?+*
*+Is there any alternative to be able to use asci code? (alt-###)+*
*+What means do we have to 'customize' keyb layout?+*
Thanks a lot for your help!
Erwin

Does anyone have a Belgian keyboard for my L300 or if not, can anyone find me the partnumber for this keyboard or for the keycaps set.
    Kind regards,

    Hi
Why you dont make short call to the local ASP (authorized service partner)??
The guys would be able to help you.
There you can order such keyboard (AZERTY layout).
If the keyboard will be not available or not on stock then the guys would be able to order it directly from Toshiba head warehouse

  • Macbook pro 13" mid 2010 power issues

    Hello
I recently obtained a macbook pro 13" model from mid 2010. The macbook was in a poor state but I got it working again.
    Parts that have been replaced:
-harddrive: I had to buy a new harddrive so I bought an intel SSD.
-the mac os x was not present so I bought that one from the apple store (os x snow leopard)
-magsafe: I bought a nearly brand new one from a store in holland who deals in second hand parts for apple devices. I also bought another one to be shure from another store in france.
-keyboard: the keyboard was a german qwertz layout but I prefer the belgian azerty layout so I replaced the entire keyboard
After replacing the magsafe connector inside the notebook I noticed that the macbook does not start charging immediatly, sometimes it starts after 5 minutes or after 2 hours. The led lights on the charger are not orange or green, just plain black.
what I already did to solve the problem:
    - The charger is a brand new one from the apple store and is in good working order. I used this charger on another macbook and no problems.
    - Magsafe connector: I have 3 magsafe connectors and all are in good working order. I even tried the magsafe connectors on other macbooks and all of them are in good working order.
    - Keyboard: keyboard is ok, even the keyboard lights are working fine
    - ram memory has been replaced with new ones from an apple retail store, ram is working fine
    - SSD drive is brand new and I have made a second harddrive with the same OS and updates: same result: macbook does not charge
    - system is up to date and has all updates
The charging problem can be solved by connecting the charger to the macbook and opening the bottom and disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. After that the led lights up and turns orange to indicate that the charger is doing his job with the battery. Doing an SMC reset does not solve the problem.
When the battery is charging: notebook is working fine, very fast with the SSD drive. When working on battery: the notebook can be used for up 3 hours maximum. When the battery is completely out of power: charging is difficult because it will not start immediately, no orange of green led.
What could be the cause of this problem? I've been looking around to get prices for a replacement logic board but I not shure.

First of all, I notice two things:
You are using Sophos, and most users do not need it. See if uninstalling it helps > http://www.sophos.com/es-es/support/knowledgebase/119182.aspx
You are using a Soundflower version that it is not compatible with OS X Mavericks. You can install the latest version in this website > https://code.google.com/p/soundflower/downloads/detail?name=Soundflower-1.6.6b.d mg&can=2&q=
Apart from that, open Disk Utility (in /Applications/Utilities), choose Macintosh HD in the sidebar and repair all permissions. Have a look at this user tip > https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3521
Finally, as you have a lot of third-party apps and extensions, you should consider the option of formatting the hard drive and reinstalling OS X, so everything should be back to normal:
If you have got a backup of your files, hold Command and R keys while your computer is starting up to start up in OS X Recovery.
In the OS X Utilities window, open Disk Utility, choose Macintosh HD, go to Erase tab and erase the drive.
Close Disk Utility and reinstall OS X. Do not restore your backup. Then, transfer your files manually and reinstall your applications manually.

  • Install Solaris 10 Keyboard Layout Error

    Hello,
I've got an odd problem during the installation of Solaris 10.
When installing you can change the video, mouse and keyboard settings. If i change the keyboard from US_English (default) to Belgian (AZERTY), there is no difference.
Its marked as a Belgian keyboard but it act like an US Qwerty.
Has somebody any idea why this problem occurs?
Do i need to patch something after the installation ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Serge Kestens
    [email protected]

kbd -l gives me the following output.
    type=101
    layout=0 (0x00)
    delay(ms)=500
rate(ms)=40OK, so the layout code "0" apparently means something like
unknown or unsupported keyboard layout, it comes from
/usr/lib/set_keyboard_layout, line 51: The layout name "Belgian"
is not handled in the case statement, so the "*" case is used and
    sets layout to "0".
I also checked /usr/X11/lib/X11/xkb/xkbtable.map, the file
used by the Xorg server to map the keyboard type / keyboard
layout to keymap files. It contains no entry for type 101/layout 0,
so the default layout for an US keyboard is used:
    /usr/X11/lib/X11/xkb/xkbtable.map, line 122:
    # Type 101 Keyboards (Solaris x86 Keyboards)
    101     *       -       pc105                   us      # MS_US101A_x86
...There are currently no Belgian layouts for type 101 keyboards
    defined in this file!
And with the Xsun server, things are not much better. Looking
in /usr/openwin/share/etc/keytables, there are no _x86.kt.Z
keytable files for a Belgian layout. (There is a Belgian6.kt
file, but this is only used for SPARC Type-6 USB keyboards)

  • Keyboard Layout on E71

    hi,
I have done an update to my E71 (originally with Orange Firmware) now 'im on v 110.02.127
well before the update the keyborad layout are corect but now i have azerty keys but qwerty layout!!!!!!!!
plez help me to resolve this prob how can i do to use the correct layout (france)
    thnks

There have been occasions when Nokia has made mistakes in firmware which gave incorrect keyboard mapping - for some Dutch E71s once mistakenly had their Dutch QWERTY keyboards re-mapped as Belgian AZERTY keyboards. If that's the case, put your selves in the hands of a Nokia service point, particulartly if your phone is under warranty because this covers issues caused by updating software.
Do not go down the road of trying to change codes, this will invalidate your warranty and is not allowed to be discussed here anyway.

  • Keys for accented characters

Although the elegant Special Character panel is very comfortably sitting
there on my screen, waiting for work, helping me out whenever necessary,
I still prefer to be able to continue to type accented characters the way I'm
used to, since 1987 on my Mac...
It's distracting and disturbs my 'flow' of thinking and typing when I have to
look for the character, click it, verify that all is okay and continue typing.

You think you've got problems? OK, so perhaps it was a bit much to expect unicode character entry Linux-style: but when my whole system is set up to work with a Belgian azerty keyboard and Buzzword can't even handle what I just type in ... while, par curiosité, I see that the forum apparently can ;-} Can't help remembering the day I had to put an azerty keyboard on the scanner halfway through a support call, because the support-team had apparently no idea anything other than 102-key US qwerty keyboards existed.

  • Caps Lock - numbers

    Hi all,
I have Windows 7 installed with Bootcamp on a new MBP 15 inch. It is a Belgian Azerty keyboard. Problem is, when i activate the Caps-lock and type '1' , it displays a '&' instead (I use the Belgian(Apple) keyboard layout). With the other number keys, caps lock works just fine. Anyone know how to solve this?
    Thanks for any help.

I am running Win7 on a MacBook Air. I installed the power plan assistant and then attempted to update the mouse driver. However, windows keeps telling me that the best driver is already installed and will not update. Any way to force it to use the new driver?

  • Wrong country by "free" subcription.

    Hi.
At 29.04.2012 i ordered "free" subcription to Finland landline phones.
But for same strange reason skype offer me to call at Russia (only Russia is active in call menus, all other countries are grey).
But when i try call to Russia or Finland the "You need buy subcription bla bla bla"  message popping up and nothing happens.
So, how i can use this "free" subcription. I dont need it very offen, just curious.
And now i have bad taste of subcriptions.

    abwi wrote:
Can this be changed by myself or should i return the phone again to get this fixed?
You would need to return device but would not be surprised if this device did not start out life as Belgian azerty and has reverted to original software version dictated by seven character alphanumeric product code upon re-installing device firmware.

  • Problem setting azerty and different languages

Hi I just received my iPod touch in Belgium and Apple seems to think Belgian people use QWERTY but we use AZERTY. In settings i can't seem to change the keyboard without changing the language setting. As we are a tri-lingual country with three languages and one keyboard lay-out I guess the french speaking part will have the correct version.
    Anyone else having this isue?

Okay, not sure if this is entirely right but I think this worked on mine when I set it up for Japanese and Spanish. Choose whatever languages you want available for your keyboard, and next time you popup the keyboard hit the icon that looks like a wire-frame globe. If I'm correct this should change the keyboard layout.

  • Physical keyboard is qwerty on an azerty asus transformer, only in firefox

on an azerty asus transformer (Belgian model), the physical keyboard behaves in firefox as a qwerty keyboard regardless of the locale.
This only happens on firefox, and the virtual keyboard behaves normally.
Is there something that I should configure ?
    Thanks,
    Rémi

    Hey Rémi
Thanks for reporting this. There is currently an [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=669361 open bug] investigating this issue. I'm not sure if there's a workaround at the moment. It would be best to follow activity in the bug report if one is posted.

  • Azerty become qwerty

    Hi,
    I'm running an iMac (27-inch, Late 2012), 3,4 GHz Intel Core i7, 32 Go 1600 MHz DDR3
I've recently upgraded my system to Yosemite. And I'm facing a serious problem :
My azerty keyboard (I'm french) is by default in qwerty. Wich is a serious problem for entering my admin password to open my session.
But more than that by default, the only language of keyboard is american. I have to search in the preference panel to add the french, then change.
It's a real pain in the arse. And it takes long minutes to start a session.
Here's what I've tried (that didn't woked by the way...)
-> Change the language in the pref panel. But when I shut down, the problem is coming back at the next session
    -> Delete the file : /Library/Preferences/com.apple.HIToolbox.plist ; but it didn't do nothing
-> Open the Terminal and type : sudo languagesetup  then choose the number of my language (here 2 for the french) ; result : none !
-> Do the good setup with the pref panel (keyboard in french), and then open Terminal and type :
    sudo cp ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.HIToolbox.plist /Library/Preferences/
    No result at all !!!
Will there be an kind of upgrade to fix this or is there a trick that works to stop that ?
In a professional workflow, it seems a detail but it is reeeealy annoying.
Plus : you buy a good mac, you're expecting not having this kind of trouble....
If anyone did fixed the same problem or have an answer that works, I'll put a candle in a church for him/her.
    Thanks folks !

    Dear icerabbit,
Also, if I understand you correctly; under preferences > keyboard > input sources; you added + to add French or Belgian to get an azerty layout.
    exactly.
Are you using an Apple keyboard, wired, wireless? Or 3rd party?
I'm using a wired apple keyboard.
Did you remove the US (since they can't be re-arranged in order) so that you only have one keyboard left; and then after sleep or restart it has defaulted back to US? Or do you have both layouts? And default back to US?
Yes I did. But the US language becomes default language everytime I reboot.
for Apple to hear about your issue and produce a fix, to send a detailed note to Apple via https://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html    Note that the text box doesn't allow very much text, so you need to condense, and can of course include a link to this forum page too.
Thanks for your recommandation about the apple feedback. I'll do that...
if I ever find a solution I'll post it there. I'll continue my quest

  • Azerty for sony xperia z1

    Dear,
I just bought a sony z1 compact and as Im a Belgian I use Azerty. I couldn't figure out how to change the keyboard into azerty instead of qwerty.
Is this possible and how should I do it?
    Greetings,
    Tom

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
What you can do is to enable French in the keyboard under Settings -> Language & input -> Xperia keyboard -> Writing languages. With french enabled you can select AZERTY and then you can also enable dutch.

  • Switch keyboard from qwerty to azerty?

I already have a french mcbook pro and I want to use the spanish keyboard after changing it with the flag but the keyboard appears in qwerty and I want to switch it to have it in azerty without changing the language, could you help me please?

    pounpoun wrote:

    OK.
I want to use the spanish keyboard
    OK.
after changing it with the flag
    Huh?!
Do you mean to say that you enabled the Input Menu (identified by a flag icon), and you enabled one of the two Spanish keylayouts, and you chose it (which is shown by the Input Menu icon changing to a Spanish flag)?
I want to switch it to have it in azerty
Impossible. The Apple-supplied Spanish keyboard layouts are based on QWERTY. You cannot change them to AZERTY. I have to disappoint you, but, to my knowledge, only the French and Belgian keylayouts are AZERTY. There are tools you can use to make your own AZERTY-based Spanish keylayout, if that's what you want.
    without changing the language
Language choice has nothing to do with it.

  • Screen sharing / Azerty - Qwerty

    Hi,
I can perfectly do screen sharing with my Mac Book Pro (OS X 10.5.7) and my old G5 (OS X 10.4.11). But when viewing my G5 screen on my Mac Book Pro, when inputting text (folder names, input fields, text editing, ...) in the G5 screen, this is always done in Qwerty and I would rather want this is in Azerty. International settings in the system preferences are the same on both computers, I use Azerty also on both computers. Can I change this so I can edit text always in Azerty when doing screen sharing ?
    Tnx,
    m.
    Message was edited by: MULES_3D

If I change the input method to "U.S." (in the International system preference), when viewing the G5 screen with the Mac Book Pro, I can type text in azerty on the G5 screen. The input method on the Mac Book Pro stays at "Belgian". So this helps as a workaround for my problem (with shortcut key for switching input methods), but I found it rather unlogical since the U.S. input method in linked to qwerty (?) ... If somebody has a better solution, feel free ...
