Believe Acrobat Pro XI (cc) has bug - need to uninstall immediately

Under deadline - working on Saturday. installed Acrobat Pro XI update Wed. or Thurs. on Friday noticed when I print PDF'd documents containing Calibri font to PCL printer multiple random parts of the text are MISSING.
This happens both when I create post script file from InDesign and then disill with Distiller to PDF AND ALSO when I Print using the Adobe PDF printer from MS Word.
I am on brand new HP laptop with Windows 7 OS and running brand new install (1-6-14) of Creative Cloud (indesign, acrobat, illustrator, photoshop).  I already uninstalled Acrobat and ran the cleaner to completely uninstall and then reinstalled Acrobat late yesterday afternoon. Printing Calibri problem still there - guessing update now incorporated into the download?
Can I roll back to before the update somehow?  Please give detailed instructions and please HURRY... thank you so much
Shelby :-(

OK scratch that... my reinstall of Acrobat has me at version 11.0.0 so I am installing the latest update now.
Can someone tell me WHAT files/joboptions etc. that both the Adobe PDF printer (from MS apps) and the printing to postscript file in indesign BOTH use in common... I must have a corrupt file or something but don't have a clue where to look.
Thank You!

  • How do I create the highest quality pdfs with InDesign CS5 and Acrobat Pro 9?  New settings needed?

I sent a lot of jobs to printing companies by sending them high-res proofs on very large, multiple page jobs with lots of photos and graphics.  Many companies are requesting that I just send pdfs.  I just upgraded to Windows 7 and CS5.  I used to have some special settings in my older Acrobat Distiller  and InDesign which have been lost.  They gave a much better result that what I seem to be getting from the "Press Quality" setting for pdf's.  Does anyone have an excellent list of settings that can used to improve the quality of pdf's?  I don't know if this is a combination of settings in both InDesign itself, as well as in Acrobat Distiller, or if the settings in one program will solve this.  I have a job pending that needs improvement in the pdf quality.  Thank you.

Thanks Peter.  My last post was specific to using the Print Booklet feature (which is now solved thanks to your help).  But this is related to creating high-res pdfs in general that go to printing companies, and being used for sending high-res proofs to clients.  In general I don't need to set up printer spreads for my jobs (just for the one I asked about in my other post), but I used to have some specific settings that a printing company supplied me with to give the highest res pdf output possible.  Those settings did in fact give a better result than the Press Quality settings built into my Adobe programs.  I have had printers over the years request that I create a postscript file, then use distiller (using the settings they supplied) and I got an excellent result.  After getting a new computer, Windows 7 and new CS5 and Acrobat Pro 9 upgrade, all of these settings were lost.  I have notes on the settings from a couple of years ago, but they don't seem to apply to the CS5 programs in every given area and I feel like there may be just a couple of boxes that either should or shouldn't be checked that I'm missing now.
I understand that this is very specific information, and I may just need to go with the Press Quality settings. The printing company that gave me that great info a while back is no longer in business and other printing companies I have checked with won't spend that kind of time with me (or maybe they don't know anything other than using the Print Quality setting).   Maybe within the CS5 program now, the quality of this setting has been improved more than I realize yet.  Again, I'm new to CS5 and am just trying to get everything back to the way I used to have things running, and trying to get the best results possible.
    Thanks again!

  • Acrobat Pro Freezes completely so I need to Force Quit

I hope I am posting in the right place.  Please let me know if I should move this.  I am so desperate-- I have tried everything I can think of and I hope someone has another idea I can try.
I am using Acrobat Pro.  When the problem started I was using Pro X.  I tried upgrading to the trial Acrobat XI to see if that fixed the problem, but it didn't.  I don't care which I use as long as it works.
The program starts up, but I can't click on any of the choices on the "splash screen" (where you can choose Open a Recent File or Select a Task).  When I roll over the choices I see the rollover highlight, but nothing happens when I click.  I can open a file from the FILE menu, but when I do I can't do anything with it.  None of the tools on the window tool bar work.  Then the whole thing freezes and I have to Force Quit to close the program.
I am on a Mac running Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.5 with a 3.2 GHz Intel Cose i3 processor and 12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 memory.  When the problem started I was using Lion 10.7.5, so I tried upgrading to Mountain Lion, but it didn't fix the problem.
Here is what I have tried:
    > Uninstalling and reinstalling Acrobat Pro X numerous times
    > Installing, uninstalling, reinstalling Acrobat Pro XI
    > Installing in Safe Mode
    > Uninstalling every other Adobe product I had (After Effects Trial, inDesign 5, Adobe Reader)
I also tried various things I found in the Forums-- so many that I can't remember now.  One had to do with moving certain preference files and opening the program again, one was the fix for a CS6 conflict problem.
When the problem first started I discovered that my Time Machine backup was not working because my backup disc was full and Time Machine wasn't deleting the old backups.  I didn't have a recent backup so I didn't want to do a system restore to before the problem.  I got a new 4TB external drive for Time Machine, and got a 3TB external drive to clear a bunch of large documents off my main hard drive.
I am willing to try anything.  Please help!!!

Well, after two weeks of pulling my hair out I finally figured it out last night!  The problem was a bad mouse driver.  I use an Evoluent mouse (which I LOVE) but it is an older model and I suppose the update from OX 10.7.4 to 10.7.5 just kicked the driver into incompatiblity.  I had tested the mouse a week or so ago and my Mac wireless mouse worked but didn't solve the problem because when I did the test I didn't actually unplug the Evoluent mouse.  Once I did that last night, and used only the Mac wireless mouse, Acrobat went back to working properly.
I just ordered the newest Evoluent mouse which is compatible with OS X.  I can't wait for it to arrive tomorrow!!
Thank you to everyone who viewed this question and tried to think of a solution.

  • My computer (XP operating system) crashed with my adobe acrobat Pro 8.0 and I need to put it on my new computer (windows 7.0 operating system)

I have have the seriel #

    Hi Medina ,
Acrobat 8 is an older version .It might not be compatible with Windows 7 .
Try upgrading it to the latest version .i.e Acrobat 11.0.10 or any higher versions than Acrobat 8.
Many folks have gotten AA8 to work on Win7. I have only heard of one report suggesting that AA8 will work on a 64-bit system, and I am not sure about the report. If you have a 64-bit system, you will likely need to upgrade, though if you play around you might be successful in finding a solution (Adobe will not help since it is not a certified platform, but some folks here might if they have been successful).
In any case, after installation you will need to do the updates for proper operation. If you can not do them from within Acrobat, you may have to download them fromhttp://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows. You need to install the updates in ORDER unless indicated other wise. Reboots can typically be saved until the last update is installed.

  • From: Adobe Acrobat Pro 6.0 to Adobe Reader 10:  Uninstall First?

    Hello:
I have Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0 installed on my PC now. I use it only to read PDF files and occasionally sign one.
It does not upgrade to later versions from within the program.
I'd rather use the Adobe Reader to view PDF files. I see Adobe Reader 10 is the latest version.
    1) Is it necessary to first uninstall the Adobe Acrobat 6.0 before installing the Adobe Reader? Or can I simply install  Adobe Reader
    directly over it?
    2) If I uninstall Adobe Acrobat first, would the PDF files I already have stored on my PC be readable with the new adobe Reader?
    Thanks in advance:

  • Blank screen on Adobe Acrobat Pro Startup 9.0

    **See screenshot below.
After installing our volume license here on campus, I'm getting this blank screen on startup. This is only happening with one machine. We all have the same systems and configurations, so not sure what it is. I have to use Task Manager to quit the program. Thought it was the graphic drivers for our NVidia card GeForce 5200, but I updated those and had the same problem. Also tried repair, removed, cleaned registry, then reinstall again. I still cannot get this to work. This is an older Dell Optiplex GX270, 1 gb of RAM.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

Acrobat XI Pro does not work as well as previous versions. For example, using "Combine Files into PDF" function, Acrobat will not work if one or more of your WORD docs has a text layer (such as in a WORD template to produce a letterhead).  The text layer will not print to PDF, although this function works fine in previous versions.  It will convert your WORD docs to PDF, but if any WORD doc has a text layer, it will not be converted.  It will show up as a blank space.  I have a letterhead text layer that has my work credentials.  It does not show up on the converted PDF, using the bundle (Combine Files into PDF) function.  Tech Supports workaround for this is to first create a PDF from the WORD page that has a text layer by first clicking on Acrobat, at the top of the monitor page, then clicking on Create PDF.  Save the PDF, which will have the printed text layer.  Then go to Combine Files into PDF and include that already created PDF page in the bundle.  That will work, but it's another step you have to go through to create your bundle, i.e., your work flow is interrupted by having to accomplish the workaround (documented in Adobe Case No. 0185444461).  Acrobat Pro 9 extended did not need this workaround - nor did previous versions.  Tech Supports comment was that Adobe changed a lot of things - in this case, not for the good.

I'd like to upgrade from Adobe Acrobat Pro v. 9  to Acrobat Pro v. 11.  via uninstalling  v. 9.0 and installing v. 11.   The reason is that I'm having problems opening PDF files on my PC.

  • Acrobat Pro 9 Extended?

Ok, I've been asking a lot of questions on this forum for a while, and now have another one. My boss has asked me to create a form-our company does document imaging, meaning we scan paper and help companies go paperless. One area in which we'd like to move is the area which helps companies stay paperless. We'd like to provide the service of creating forms that can be filled out electronically and signed electronically. The form I've created is for a medical practice.
I've learned through countless posts on these forums that you can't save a form you filled out in the free Reader even if you created it in Acrobat, which is unfortunate, as we would like to give this form to this medical practice and have them be able to use the free Reader to fill it out and save it (we will probably be giving it to the various doctors they have working there). I know that you can extend the capabilities of an Adobe Form using LiveCycle Reader Extensions, but I'm also aware that the Reader Extensions is quite pricey.
My question is this. I've heard things about Acrobat Pro, version 9. I've also heard there's an Extended version of Acrobat Pro 9 that includes LiveCycle Design ES. Could this be what we need to extend the capabilities of a form filled out in Reader? I think we'd be more comfortable selling them this version of Acrobat, as I'm sure it's far less pricey than the Reader Extensions.
We'd also like to be able to electronically sign the form in Reader, but again, we can't do that right now with Reader.
Is Acrobat Pro 9 Extended what we need?

    >I've also heard there's an Extended version of Acrobat Pro 9 that includes LiveCycle Design ES. Could this be what we need to extend the capabilities of a form filled out in Reader?
No. You already know what your options are. They haven't changed. Pro can grant Reader users the ability to save but it has a limit to the amount of uses per form that generally won't work for business use.
    >Is Acrobat Pro 9 Extended what we need?
You need the pricey LiveCycle Extensions for Reader.

  • Safari Conflict with Acrobat Pro 10.1.5

Just thought I'd pass on a heads up for anyone considering updating to Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.1.5. When I tried, I ran into a serious conflict.
I'm running Safari 5.1.7 on my Intel iMac running OS X 10.6.8. Acrobat Pro 10.0 has worked fine for months. But when I updated to 10.1.5, Safari lost the ability to save online PDF files. (And Firefox lost the ability to view them altogether.)
To correct this, I had to uninstall Acrobat Pro altogether and re-install 10.0. Once I did that, I had no more problems with online PDF files.

Unfortunately you get that error no matter what's wrong with the embedded model data, there's no way in Acrobat to tell what's corrupted or to fix it. You would need to run the U3D files through third-party software to check if they conform to the published standard.
There's a reason Adobe removed U3D export from Photoshop

  • Adobe Acrobat pro 9.4.6 crashes when opening multiple files simultaneously.

We have Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 which has been updated to version 9.4.6. we had this problem when the 9.4.5 update was applied also. It is now crashing when we try to open multiple files simultaneously.
Yesterday, I narrowed down the problem to 6 plugins:
    IA32
    ADBC
    eBook
    EScript
    HLS
    PPKLite
    SaveAsRTS
However, we discovered that that Comments and markup tool bars weren't loading. So I did a repair install on it.
Now those plugins from yesterday work and Acroform.api is causing it to crash when opening multiple files.
I did try other suggestion that involved using Icacls/cacls on dll files to no avail.
It is running on XP SP3 fully updated with plenty of RAM and HDD space.
Is there a way to fix this without reinstalling?

I am not sure what's causing this problem on your machine because everything's working fine for me.
What is the version of Acroform.api on your machine now.
Do a Repair after deleting this file and see if it works.
Enable Windows MSI logging (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314852) before you do a repair, upload that log to some file sharing server, and paste its link here.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 Extended - How do you change the software language?

Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 Extended has been installed in German on my machine, is there a way like in most software to switch to the English language though some options?

In Acrobat Preferences, look under the section called (in English) "International" for "Application language".
There might, or might not, be other languages available.

  • How to create saveable forms for Adobe Reader 6.0 using Acrobat Pro 9?

    Hi
I'm using LiveCycle Designer ES (Acrobat Pro 9).
I only need to create a simple pdf form where the user enters data and saves the file with the data using Adobe Reader 6.
What are the steps to convert a Reader Extended PDF forms version 1.6 (Reader 7) to version 1.5 (Reader 6)?
    Thanks
    Bela

Any luck here? I have just a subset of your challenge, i.e., I want to get forms designed in Designer 8.2/Acrobat 9 to work in Reader 7.0.5
    Thanks!
