Belkin 802.11g PCI Card

Thought I'd let y'all know that I popped a Belkin High-Speed Mode Wireless G Desktop Network Card (F5D7001) into my 466DA. OS 10.3.9 recognized it right away and it seems to surf faster than the old Airport card. Then I sold the Airport card for more than the cost of the Belkin card. Seems like a pain-free way to get some more speed online.

that's awesome! the belkin card, does it use its own drivers or does it use the built-in airport driver?
too bad i don't have a airport card

Just checking to see if anybody knows when this K8N Neo accessory will be released??
It's designed to use the orange PCI slot on the K8N Neo and provide both Bluetooth and WiFi access points with only 1 antenna and 1 slot....
Here is the only pic I could find on the Net.

Sorry I was a little slow posting the results, but the shop phil86 directed me to was prompt, and sent me back a response the next day.  Sounds like a good place to deal with, however they don't sell the card by itself and shipping to the US is expensive.  Has anyone found a source that sells just the dual-net card?
As promised, here is the response Gladiator Computers sent back to me ...
Unfortunately at this time this product is not sold on its own, only as a bundle with the board. I have checked this previously with MSI.
The cost of shipping to USA for the board and card is £40.00
We are unable to accept payment via any type of card, only via cleared funds, a bank transfer for the full amount in GBP Sterling.

  • Belkin 802.11g wireless USB2.0 with Snow White G3 - A question...

Will the Belkin 802.11g work with an iBook model M6497 snow white iBook running OSX 1.2? I have been hunting around the forums and net trying to find out if it would work and can't find out if it would work or not. We are on a tight budget and can't afford the current prices for the original airport card.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

G3 iBook Model M6497   Mac OS X (10.2.x)   Burnt out Ethernet card, tight budget - any help would be great.

Looking at the accessories for Mac portables, there is no USB adapter compatible (most likely due to there being no Mac driver). The Ethernet bridge seems like the only option, though it's out of stock at the moment, but seeing that you have a non-functioning Ethernet port, I guess that'd not work very well.

I have a Msi wireless 11g PCI Card (PC54G2) installed on my desktop pc Lately i have been experiencing very bad connectivity between my pc and the access point i have installed in my house(MSI Wireless 11g Access Point AP54G). I have even tried connecting with my pc right next to the AP but still i have the same problem. Please tell me how i can solve this problem, also if there is any way i can get a replacement antenna for my card if that is the problem or any way i can boost my signal thanks.

  • Drivers for Belkin F5U220 USB PCI card

I am trying to install Belkin F5U220 USB PCI card into my G4. There are no drivers on the CD or Belkin's website. After installation, I connection Apple mouse. The mouse indicator was lit. But does not work. Where can I get drivers for this PCI card ? I read several posts here that this card worked on many systems. Wondering how it worked... Appreciate any help.

The drivers are built into the operating system.
Does the card appear in your system profiler?
When I plugged in my usb 2 card it just worked. From time to time I had to reset the pmu to get things reset properly but it has been 2 times in 2 years. (lots of 2's in my post, huh?)
Apple seems to have removed the link to the reset of the pmu so I'll give a readers digest.
    Open the mac
Touch the power supply case to ground yourself
Remove the battery and check the voltage (3.6V)
Press the pmu button (3/8"square box with a bb size button in the center). Hold it down for a 3 count. Don't press it more than one time or you will mess things up
    Replace the battery
Restart the mac with the usb2 card in it.
    See if that helps

  • Dell Axim X5 Pocket PC compatibility with Belkin 802.11b PDA card

    Hello,
I was recently given a Dell Axim X5 Pocket PC and I'm trying to sync it to my IMAC using my internet connection. I'm running OS X 10.3. Dell's website stipulates that the compact flash card that I need is an 802.11b model. I purchased a Belkin 802.11b Wireless PDA Network Card to satisfy this stipulation, but upon investigation of the software I find that I need to be running at least Windows 98 with Window CE embedded. Is there anyway of me getting around this with my MAC???? To further complicate matters, when I attach the pocket pc to my USB port it isn't even recognized. Is this because it's a Windows device??? Is there any work-around for this?????
    Thanks

    Prakash,
Thanks for contacting National Instruments.  According to hp's website, the 2490 does have a type II slot.  Also, if you look at the datasheet for the CF-6004 it states that it is a Type II card.  Let us know if you have anymore questions.

  • Can't Config Belkin 802.11g Router

Belkin model F5D7230-4 doesn't accept any of the changes i make in set-up screens. It acts like it doesn't understand Apple keystrokes. I can select the various set-up screens, make entries, etc, but then when try to complete it with "submit", it just goes back to defaults. I've tried the 10 sec reset, etc, and I've contacted Belkin Help, but they were no help. I even cleared Safari cache. Belkin NoHelp finally said "then use a PC to configure it," but couldn't explain why, so I refused because they claim OS X compatibility. I've searched this board using "configure belkin router" and didn't find any other posts that describe similar problem. Any thoughts on why Safari might not be able to properly communicate with the router? BTW, the internet connection works fine, but unable to set any wireless security for above reasons, so I quickly disconnected it and went back to using a hardwired connection to a secure Linksys wireless b currently in use by other PCs in the house.
    PBK G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    I have the same router.
The administration web server seems to be written only for Internet Exploder under Windows. It behaves badly under Firefox and Opera for Windows and is marginally useful with Safari as long as you don't touch the wireless settings while you're actually connected via wireless.
I've been able to edit settings with Safari and Firefox under OS X, but the wireless settings are especially hard to edit using a wireless connection because the router restarts when you edit something effectively killing the wireless connection. The other browsers figure out that the connection is dead and quit trying a meta refresh to the router. IE on the other hand, is just brain-dead enough to keep trying until **** freezes over.
I can't explain why you can't edit dialog boxes, unless the browser thinks the connection is dead on a settings change and it figures allowing you to edit something is pointless.
The only selling point to this router was its early emergence on the market with WPA. That's why I bought it.

  • Recent News on How to upgrade the 802.11g Wireless Card to a 802.11n Card

    Hi everyone!
I have a macbook Core Duo (not core 2 duo) and I want to buy the new airport express. I was really upset to see that I will not gete the performance upgrade of the n technology on my new computer. Finnaly I saw this post on AppleInsider
    http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=2510
It says that you can replace the wireless card in the Macbook with a card from the Mac Pro (the same size and same amount of antenas) and the n technology would work (and increase speed and performance).
Here is how to do it:
    http://www.hardmac.com/articles/71/
Has anyone done this yet? Does it work? Is there a violation of Applecare by doing this? Where would you get a n airport card for the MacPro?
Any ideas on this subject would be great!
If it is true and leagl, then I would be very happy.

I was planning on buying a PCI 802.11g wireless card for my G4 AGP.

  • MacWireless PCI Cards

    Hello,
Has anybody out there tried the MacWireless 11g PCI Card from MacWireless.com?
I'm initially interested in this card because it's supposed to be compatible with G4 towers and give the speed of 54 Mbps, a speed that can't be reached by purchasing the original Airport card (my 450 dual mac isn't compatible with Airport Extreme). According to the specifications, this card will be recognised as an Airport card and requires no additional software.
I'm currently running Mac OS X 10.3.4. Does any body know which Airport drivers this version of OS X has? (The MacWireless PCI card rev B requires Mac OS 10.3.3 or later and AirPort Drivers v. 4.2 or later.)
Finally, if I was to use a regular original Airport card, would it hinder potential broadband internet speeds on my computer? Would web pages load much slower?
Any information would be much appreciated.
Gigabit Ethernet Dual 450 G4   Mac OS X (10.3.4)   1.6Gb RAM, running Quark Xpress 6.5 & Adobe Creative Suite

    Hi Tom,
I haven't used the card but from what I've read it's compatable with OS X 10.2-10.4 with Airport 3.1-3.3; 3.4 and up native.
You can find the version of Airport you have with Apple System Profiler. Go to the Apple menu and choose About This Mac and then click on the More Info button. Click on Extensions under Software on the left and all installed extensions will appear on the right.
You won't be able to surf the web any faster with a 802.11g card because your internet connection isn't even as fast as 802.11b but you'll save $100 or so over the cost of an original AirPort card.

  • Airport Express 802.11n joining existing Aiport Extreme 802.11g network

We added an Airport Express to support Airtunes on a stereo system to an existing Airport Extreme 802.11g network. The original Extreme had an antenna to extend its range as well. The problem we are having is that the connection from an iMac keeps going up and down. Is there an issue using WDS between Airport units that are of different speeds? Any thoughts on why this might be doing this and how we can get it to operate stably again as it was with just the old Airport Extreme.

I am concerned with the speed being reduced by half per node. Do you mean if I had three access points in a WDS network the speed would be half or does it reduce to one third?
Also, I want to point out in the latest manual, WDS does support 802.11n and mixed, including wide channel, which may over come being halfed but not further reductions.
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/Designing_AirPort_Networks10.5-Windows.pdf
    --------excerpt from apple manual -------------------------------------
Setting Up a Wireless Distribution System (WDS)
When you connect devices wirelessly in a WDS, you set up each device as
either a main, a remote, or a relay device.
You can connect AirPort Extreme 802.11n Base Stations or Time Capsules and use the
5 GHz frequency band in the network. Only client computers that have 802.11n wireless
cards installed can join the network. If you want client computers using 802.11b or
802.11g wireless cards to join the network, set up the network using the 2.4 GHz
frequency band, or add 802.11g AirPort Extreme or AirPort Express to the network. See
“Choosing the Radio Mode” on page 21 for information about setting the frequency
band of the network. You can also set up a dual-band network that utilizes both the
2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands, so client computers using 802.11n wireless cards
can join the 5 GHz segment of the network, and computers using 802.11b or 802.11g
wireless cards can join the 2.4 GHz segment. See “Setting up a Dual-Band (2.4 GHz and
5 GHz) Network” on page 48.

  • Wireless PCI cards recommendations?

I have an aging G3 Beige MiniTower. I want to give it to a family whose house has a wireless setup.
What 802.11b PCI cards can be used in one of the PCI slots? A card needs to have a driver that supports Mac OS Jaguar.
The MiniTower has a combo FireWire/USB PCI card in it, but I do not think it is relevant to setting it up with the wireless network.

    MacBook Pro 17-inch   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   G5 Dual 2GHz Tower (Sept. 2005)

i have a linksys wireless-G USB network adapter with speed boost model number WUSB54GS that will not work with the airport software.
i think there is only a few that will work with a Mac that has a certain chipset. i have a USB to wifi g one with boost that wont work cause it don't use the right chipset that is compatible with the airport software. so its a hot and miss thing with those USB to wifi network adapters.
i forget which chipsets are and are-not compatible with the airport utility
yea you can use a USB stick . but it also depends if it has the proper chipset. plus it would help to look for saying if its compatible with Mac and what OS. normally if it dont say that its compatible with mac it will usually not work but some rare cases it does.
yea you might be able to use a wifi pci card . but you would also run into the same problems as above with the chipset not being compatible. and then if it was not working right in the Beige due to some freaky Beige PCI incompatibility thing.

I have a G5 Tower with PCI slots.
Is there a way to make this wireless card recognized as an AirPort card under OS 10.5.8?
Currently, it does not even show up System Profiler.

Just google "Netgear WG311v3 802.11g Wireless PCI Adapter". Apparently it supports Windows OS's. You can also inquire from the manufacturer.
