Belkin Wireless Notebook Network Card F5D7010 and Tiger

Hi
I'm currently running OSX 3.9 Panther on my G3 500mhz Powerbook and I have a Belkin Wireless Card F5D7010 vers.1314uk which has a Broadcom chipset and works perfectly with Airport. (vers. 1.x 2.x and 4.x are Broadcom, vers. 3.x are Prism)
I'm thinking of upgrading to Tiger but I'm worried that the change of operating system will render my wireless card inoperable or cause problems. Has anybody on these forums had any experience with this Belkin card version and Tiger and can they confirm that it will work after the upgrade?
Any advice would be appreciated
Barry

  • Installation of wireless pci network card

In all the research I have gone through in order to decide what wireless network card I would use, I keep seeing from time to time a reference to which mac operating system version should be in place prior to installation of card. This I found was particularly for NIC(PCI cards) that had 802.11B,G
protocol. There was a caution to use mac osx version 10? is this correct (am I reading this correctly?)or can These NIC(PCI Cards) still run correctly with any version of mac osx?

    Are you really using 10.0.X?
I remember having about zero success with networking anything with 10.0.X, ethernet or wireless.
Yeah, I think you'll have variable results depending on which version of OS X you're running.
    Back to subject:
I just bought a Buffalo WCI2-PCI-G54S at BestBuy tonight for $39.99
    I have 10.3.9 on a G4 466Mhz machine.
Put it in a PCI slot, attached the antenna and restarted.
OS X 10.3.9 found it pretty quickly and auto-configured the Network settings for; I was not expecting this and am still really impressed. I wtched my network status indicator as it turned GREEN.
All I had to do was turn-on Airport at the top of my screen and select my Base Station, that was it!
Works great. Not sure if I can print to my Old Trusty Laserwriter since it needs AppleTalk, but we'll see.
By the way; this is a low-profile(half-height) PCI card and using a BroadCom Chip set.
    Good Luck!

  • Wireless USB Network Card for Mac?

Can the iMac G4 (Flat Panel) recognize/use USB 2.0 (is it reverse compatible?) I For some reason I cannot get my wireless to connect reliably (will try the suggestion I received). My Ethernet connection is also not working. I would like to try a USB connector, but all of them I can find in store and even ebay are USB 2.0.
    Thanks

Many of the USB 2.0 wireless adapter will work, but because USB 1.1 is so slow, the speed of the connection will be limited.
I have this one from OWC that is 802.11g capable
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20Technology/MXP802GU2/
Your iMac G4 needs to have Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later (due to its driver that you install). It works with my older Mac (a PowerBook) that has USB 1.1. However, due to the port speed, it only works at about the same speed as 802.11b.
As for your current problem, if you have not used the reset PMU procedure, you can give that a try.

  • Dell Axim X5 Pocket PC compatibility with Belkin 802.11b PDA card

    Hello,
I was recently given a Dell Axim X5 Pocket PC and I'm trying to sync it to my IMAC using my internet connection. I'm running OS X 10.3. Dell's website stipulates that the compact flash card that I need is an 802.11b model. I purchased a Belkin 802.11b Wireless PDA Network Card to satisfy this stipulation, but upon investigation of the software I find that I need to be running at least Windows 98 with Window CE embedded. Is there anyway of me getting around this with my MAC???? To further complicate matters, when I attach the pocket pc to my USB port it isn't even recognized. Is this because it's a Windows device??? Is there any work-around for this?????
    Thanks

    Prakash,
Thanks for contacting National Instruments.  According to hp's website, the 2490 does have a type II slot.  Also, if you look at the datasheet for the CF-6004 it states that it is a Type II card.  Let us know if you have anymore questions.

  • Installing RT2500 Network Card

I need to install a driver for my RT2500 PCI wireless network card on my Solaris 10.
So I went to the ralink website (the manufacturer of the network card), and downloaded the linux (well supposedly the unix driver) binary file. Burned it to dvd, and copied from the dvd to my solaris computer.
So on the solaris computer, the *.tar.gz file (the binary driver file that I downloaded) is currently in root directory ('cause it's convenient to keep it there for now).
Now how do I install it and configure it? I have tried googling... I haven't found much information that I can understand and confidently execute. I'm sorry, but I'm new to using Unix system. All the tar.gz file is new and I don't know what to do with them.
And even if I have installed it, I am yet to configure it I believe, so I would need help on that. Could someone help me?
    Thank you in advance.

I went to the opensolaris.org website and downloaded their supplied driver (from http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/laptop/wireless/ral/;jsessionid=D8C7920F852AE510DEC1EC4D801B719C)
I placed the download into my root directory. (I am completely new to solaris, I don't even know which files should be where on the file system. So I place the download in the general area - the root directory.)
I could gunzip it with the command: gzip -d <filename>Then I untar it with: tar -xvf <filename>And then unpackage it with opensolaris suggested command: pkgadd -d . SUNWralAll these process were successful.
When I followed the next command: ifconfig ral0 plumbIt said: ifconfig: plumb: ral0: no such interfaceSo I am guessing ral0 is a variable. How do I know or find out what the variable is to substitute into that command?
I did notice that at the botom right hand corner of my Java Desktop there is a network icon. When I put my mouse over it, it says: Network Connection: lo0Is this the variable I am looking for to substitute where ral0 is?
I tried that with command: ifconfig lo0 plumbNo errors, it just returns to a new prompt. I guess that works.
    But where to from here?
This is my situation. I have a RT2500 wireless pci network card. I want to connect to the home router so I can access to the internet. I have necessary networking details on the router such as: DNS, subnet mask and etc...
I manage to get a driver off opensolaris and installed it.
    1. Now, how do I configure my solaris system to connect to the home router such that I have access to the internet?
    2. Where should I put the installation files? Maybe somewhere in /etc or /dev ? I have no idea. But it doesn't feel right putting it in the root directory.
Note that I am only a native window user. I need quite detail instructions otherwise, I will still be clueless and stuck with the problem.
If I don't have help to set up my network card and acces to the internet, I might as well format all of solaris.
    Thank you in advance.

  • Network Card Solutions for MCP?

I recently purchased a MCP through my work. For security reasons, they remove the Airport Card (and the iSight cam). On my old Powerbook, I used a PCM Network Card (linksys and/or belkin) to connect to my Linksys router at home. That worked like a charm. Any suggestions for this MCP using either the ExpressCard slot or a USB slot?
I know, I know...why did they remove the Airport Card? Take it up with the geniuses at Computer Security.
    Mike

    Hello.
In Regaurds to the Question that was Put in about the Network Card. The "" NIC "" Was Put in just with the Video Card. It then took 3 To 5 Minutes for the System to Boot. With the K7T266 PRO2-A No matter what you Do even if you have windows 95, 98, me, XP Home or Pro. the System will Hang for that Amount of Time. Then it will Start and load in with your Operating System. I had to do that!!! BAS was a Great Help with Finding the Correct Answer with the Problem that I had. As to Putting in the Drivers After the Card Is Installed I put it In Windows XP Home And Pro and the MotherBoard Locked up Due to the MOBO NOT the Operating System.  As to Putting in the Drivers First??? I have found By Experiance that the Systems Operating System is a B**** when it Comes to putting in it's own Drivers that It has. Then it won't allow you to Change the Drivers. 99% of the Windows Drivers Work with the "" NIC'S "" that are NOT NEW. I was Trying to just install a NIC From 3COM with the Latest Drivers. But I found that when I tried to get the Latest Drivers Installed the Operating system Wouldn't Allow any Changes. But the Card Did Work. I found that if I go in and DELETE the 3COM NIC Driver Listing inside of Windows itself and then Delete the NIC from the DEVICE MANAGER It did ask for the Drivers and then I was Able to put the Latest Driver in.  There is Nothing wrong with the APIC It has worked from day ONE.
P.S. The BIOS in the MOBO had Not Been Altered Except when MSI SET THE MOBO to ONLY Work with a PCI VIDEO CARD from the FACTORY. Thankfully I still had a PCI video card on Hand. I then Turned the AGP Socket on and it has Worked Perfectly for over 5 YEARS. It is Now My HOME SERVER!!

  • Air Port Express Joining a non-Apple Wireless N Network

So, I've been using my AEn router for some time now to join my wireless G network for iTunes and to use the ethernet port.
Decided to buy a Linksys Wireless N Dual Band router to replace my older wireless G router.
Much to my surprise and disappointment, AEn can only join an existing B/G wireless network.
Anyone heard if Apple is going to open this up to allow joining a wireless N network with a firmware update?

My Express will only 'join' my Netgear WNDR3700's 2.4ghz 'N' band. Within seconds after joining the 5ghz band it loses link. See if your Netgear's log shows "WLAN access rejected: incorrect security", as mine does. Mind you, I've matched the security settings on the AE with the Netgear a number of times. My MB Pro is at a farther distance than the AE yet has a full signal to the 5ghz band. FYI there are no cordless phones in my house and there are no other known 5ghz networks close to my house.

    Hi Boys,
I have the same setup with my new Netgear WNDR3700 (replaces my good old WRT45G) with the AEn as client. the netgear gives me 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz 802.11n networks. i can connect the AE to both and brigde the LAN port and listen musik over analog audio connection. The only thing what drives me crazy is i need optical out, and this only work well when the AE is connected to the bgn 2.4GHz WLAN. it stops working and doing reboots if i start to play musik from itunes.
with the bgn connection it shows me a rate of 54, so no 802.11n speeds (distance AP-AE 5m sight)
maybe we have to wait for final 802.11n firmwares?
is their anybody who has the same issue with other nAPs and the AE?

  • Belkin wireless network card F5D7011

    Hi!
I've order a PCMCIA wireless card from apple store for my G4 titanium.
When I plug it in, the card seems to be reconized by the system (I can see it on the right side of my menu bar) but it does not appears in the network configuartion list (only modem or built-in ethernet are in this menu).
What should I do to have it working?
Do I need to install any specific driver?
Do I need to install any Airport software?
I'm still running with Mac OS 10.3.8. Do I have to update to Tiger???
Many thanks in advance for your help.

    Thanks for your quick reply!
I can effectively see "broadcom" on the menu.
    I said I was running with 10.3.8 but I made a mistake it's 10.2.8 !
I download the 3.1 Airport from the apple site but I can't start it. No network card is found.
I tried to install 10.4.2 (from my sister new G5!) but some message said I can't install this software on my computer (no other explaination). What should I do?
    Any other advice???
    Thanks anyway for you help!

  • Sleep and Wireless network card

After waking from sleep the MacBook Pro is unable to connect to the internet. Network card is unable to get a signal and results in 169 address. Its ironic that to remidy this requires a reboot. So basicly sleep is not an option.
The router is a linksys wireless N. OS is Leopard. Other wireless devices do not suffer this problem.
Does anyone else experience this or is it something to do with the network card?

  • Sound Blaster X-Fi Notebook Express Card and Wireless Recei

I?purchased a Creative Wireless Recei'ver and a Sound Blaster X-Fi Notebook Express Card. At the risk of removing any doubt that I am an idiot, what is the purpose of the square piece of stretchy black material? It was nicely packaged, but I don't know what I'm to do with it. It's about 4 inches square and stretchy, like spandex. I sent an email to Customer Service. They have no clue and advised me to call Direct Sales. They don't know what the purpose of the cloth is either. Any ideas?

Ok guys this is how I fixed the problem on my X-Fi PCI-Express. Open the Creative SB X-Fi Volume panel. Mine is set in game mode and I have 5 vertical sliders for Line-In /Mic, MIDI Synth, Digital-In, and the last one will say one of three things either Digital-In, Microphone, or Mirophone FP. At the top of the?slider there is a tab which brings up a drop down menu. Mine was default set to Digital-In, I switched it to Mirophone FP (tried Microphone first and it worked but the FP sounds better for me) and cranked it all the way up and my problem was solved. Very frustrating one though as there is no documentation that led me to the fix it was just playing around with it till I could figure it out.
I hope this at least helps some of you out.

  • Equium A60-157 Wireless Network Card/PCMCIA HELP!

    Hi, all!
This problem has been frustrating me for at least 2 months.
Ok, I recently purchased a Belkin Wireless G Notebook Card (wifi card).
The first time I installed the wifi card it was working perfectly. I powered
off the laptop (after I had finished working on it). The following day
when I powered on the laptop, you guessed it, the wifi card was not
working. I did not remove the wifi card during the power off/on phase.
When I went into the device manager, a yellow exclamation mark was
above the wifi card. When I examined the wifi cards properties, I found the
    following message:
This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)
If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.
I have tried unistalling and reinstalling the wifi card. I have tried using the latest Belkin drivers for the wifi card. Sometimes it works, but when I power off/on the laptop its a no go.
One way I have gotten the card to work was by removing and inserting the card several times
until it found resources and finally worked. I dont use this method anymore as, quite obviously, I risk causing damage to the cardbus slot and the card. In the meantime Ive been using a Belkin Wireless G USB network adaptor. I have not had any problems with the USB adaptor, but I would prefer to use the wifi card. This is because the majority of the wifi card is housed inside the laptop, so its not easily dislodged. The USB adaptor is fine for wireless networking indoors, but too much of a risk for roaming outdoors.
I have had this problem from bios revision 1.70 to 1.8C, and I still have it with revision 1.90. Im planning to take the wifi card back to the shop for an exchange, but I have a very bad feeling that the same thing is going to happen with the replacement card. Im not convinced that the current wifi card is defective, because it works perfectly when it gets resources.
I have tried to manually configure the resources on the devices, but I run into one major problem. Windows seems to be LOCKED into automatic settings. The automatic settings checkbox is completely greyed out, making it impossible for me to clear the check box. I have not seen anything in the bios that can help me resolve this problem.
I have noticed that there are a lot of devices running off IRQ (Interrupt Request) 19, when viewing the resources by type in the device manager. These devices are:
Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller
Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller x 2 (two entries)
Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller
    Texas Instrumetns PCI-1410 CardBus Controller
When the wifi card is working it also runs off IRQ 19, but as I stated before Windows is locked into automatic settings and will not let me configure the hardware resources manually.
The Equium A60-157 does not come with onboard, but it has the potential to. Wifi l.e.d. on front panel, location for physical wifi switch on side panel and wifi icon on F8. Does anyone know if Toshiba offer an upgrade service, or can I install onboard wifi myself?
ANYONE, PLEASE HELP ME WITH THESE ISSUES!!!
    Thanks for you time!

    Hi
    I found this for you:
Two devices have been assigned the same input/output (I/O) ports, the same interrupt, or the same Direct Memory Access channel (either by the BIOS, the operating system, or a combination of the two). This error message can also appear if the BIOS did not allocate enough resources to the device (for example, if a universal serial bus (USB) controller does not get an interrupt from the BIOS because of a corrupt Multiprocessor System (MPS) table).
You can use Device Manager to determine where the conflict is and disable the conflicting device. On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooting wizard.
Try to disable the conflict devices. It will be interesting to know if the problem will occur again.
In my opinion you should contact Service partner and ask them if the unit is prepared for Wi-Fi module. Sorry but I am not sure about that and I dont want to give you a wrong information about that.
