Belle & Orange UK N8

Was Orange UK forgotten about in all this?
When I called Orange about the update they didn't have a clue and I don't see them anywhere in the list.
Anyone work for or have contacts in Nokia or Orange UK that can confirm they are working on getting the Belle update available?

lol, when I rang they seemed to be more interested in where i found out about the update rather than giving me any info. He then went to talk to tech and they said they would send a text once an update is made available but they did not confirm they were even in possesion of the Belle update,
it was just a generic reply about updates they gave me.
"when we get updates they are tested then released which can take a few months, a text message will let you know when its available"

  • Belle update for Orange and Bouygues in 02 weeks

the update will be available within two weeks after the service of an agent on the phone ORANGE is what he said
I'm talking with a counselor from Nokia who told me this:
"The deployment of Nokia Belle started well. This update is already available for mobile bare, open to all operators. However, variants Belle Orange and Bouygues will available in two weeks."
hope it's for real this time

A quick search of the forum finds this thread /t5/Xseries/Nokia-X7-Product-Code-059k1b7/m-p/1338067/highlight/true#M15547 which identifies this as a France variant, and it seems that there is currently no belle update planned. Keep an eye on, http://europe.nokia.com/find-products/nokia-belle-update/nokia-belle-update-availability looking under France to see if the status changes.

  • Nokia N8 Symbian Belle HTML EMAIL stopped working

About a month ago my Hotmail e-mail stopped working properly, to fix it I deleted the mail box and reset it up however as a result of the delete and reset I now have lost HTML formatted e-mail.
I am on the latest Nokia N8 Belle release for Orange.
The e-mail is setup through Exchange ActiveSync so that I have access to e-mail folders as the hotmail wizard setup version doesn't list my e-mail folders in the mail client.
I have tried a hard reset of my phone, a reload of the operating system and everything else I can think of.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve?
    Thanks

I too am having the same issue with only hotmail. Looking at Microsoft forums, Nokia users aren't the only ones. MS have done some sort of 'upgrade' to their exchange servers which is causing the issue.  They are sorting it out but goodness knows how long this is going to take. My emails sometimes come in but then on the next sync they disappear. The gripe that alot of people have is that phone manufacturers apparently hadn't been told of this 'upgrade' and for me, my additional gripe is that I have been a Nokia user since 1996 and over the last 1.5 I am getting increasingly frustrated with Nokia anyway and waiting for them to sort out some ongoing issues I have had since September last year, now this as there is this ' I don’t use active exchange as I don’t want to sync my contacts or calendar this way and prefer to use other ways/apps to sync this info. As there is and apparent ‘partnership' between Nokia & Microsoft, how come none of us users had a clue it was going to happen and what steps we should take for a smooth transition.

    Hi,
I have just been told by customer support (via 202) that the O2 Belle release date is the 4th of March. Seems a bit strange when other networks have already released it. Anybody else heard anything different?
    Forum Bouyegues
    Hello,
The update validated by Bouygues released in Spring in March: to be confirmed, we're working on.
As soon as it is available, you will be informed. Watch this space!

    Hi cobrax5,
    Welcome to the Nokia Forums!
Operator usually release the update when they feel it's ready to be pushed out to their customers. Therefore different operator's will have different release date for Belle.
So even if your product code states that Belle is available for your device, you potentially will have to wait till your operator to authorise and send this out.
We hope you receive your update soon!
    Thanks!

    @cobrax05
Unfortunately Nokia will never give an exact date of a forthcoming update. They never have, and they never will. Software waiting for approval has been submitted to the carrier, and they are waiting for the carrier to test the software and approve the update. This has to be done before the update can be made available to anyone on that network.
It doesn't matter which carrier you're with, the answer is usually the same. You'll get no information from either end, so your only option is just to be patient I'm afraid.
I'm on O2 in the UK and the Belle update is still waiting for approval on that network too. On another note entirely, a lot of the people who have updated to Belle have regretted doing so. Who knows, we actually may be better off without it
You're only jealous because the voices in my head won't talk to you.

  • Where is the FAQ for E7 Belle wifi issue?

Where is the FAQ for E7 Belle wifi issue?
Feb post with AAS site co-writer

Now an E7 casualty remembering the 8 replacement Nokia Orange (or was that Lemon?) 2140's I had in 1996...

For atleast me, the problem is nothing like that.
On a newly rebooted E7, WiFi is working fine. After some time (sometimes hours, sometimes a couple of days), WiFi stops working. It still works from all other devices. Rebooting the E7 makes it work again. It is clearly a problem within the E7, and it don't have anything to do with the upgrade to Belle. Neither does turning WiFi off and on help.
If I go to the WiFi list, where it shows which networks are visible, my "known" networks are visible, and marked as known. Tapping on it, it shows, briefly, for a second or so "connecting" and then it goes back to disconnected again. In short, it totally fails to make a connection anymore. After a reboot, it is fine again.
Something causes it to get of of sync, and that's it.
I'd be happy to help Nokia with more details and troubleshooting of this, since I have some fair ideas on how to reproduce it on my phone.
And yes, I have tried reinstalling several times. That does not help. Same with deleting the access point and reentering it.
    Feel free to contact me...

If you update using Nokia Suite then it will take care of the restoration for you and will restore everything it possibly can (messages, photos etc..), but note that all your settings and widgets and homescreens will not be restored.
Do not try to use anyother restore method as it will break the Belle installation.
You should still take a backup, but in the event that you needed to do a reset and restore in future, you should not restore any settings, only restore user files.
read the update FAQ first, then you'll know what you are getting and there won't be any surprises.

  • I believe i have firefox 5 and can't find the orange button on the left or menus or toolbars so what can i do

I have an HP dv6-3225dx laptop running Win 7 and Avast a/v.I think I have ff 5 but am not sure since I can't find the orange button mentioned in the video on getting started, nor can I find any navigation or toolbars. I've been a loyal ff user since you first started up to ff 3.6 last version and never had a pblm like this. I uninstalled Chrome because of this type of hassle. I'm just an old non-techie who hasn't got time to re-learn what seems like a lot of esoteric stuff. Can you pls help.E-mail me as I can't find my questions on this help page. Many tks.

Ed-Meister, you did it again. At first, nothing happened when I hit Alt or when I hit Alt +V. I heard a little bell but no change to menu. Then I remembered reading a post yesterday from someone with a similar problem and a suggestion that they hit Alt + V+M. (When I tried yesterday, nothing happened). I tried it again today and there was the yellow ff icon on upper left. I clicked and there was the menu I'd seen on the getting started video. I made a few clicks and there was the old style toolbar I know and love and I was able to configure the browser to my liking.
In this case, at least, for me, Less Is Not More. Bless you and thanks again, pal.

  • E7 Belle upgrade - change of email behaviour

(Note - use native email direct to ISP, not via Nokia Mail or other intermediary; will not use cloud based services eg. Google/AOL/Yahoo, so don't suggest them to me as a "fix".)
Prior to Belle (ie pre Anna and Anna releases) "delete" of an email only deleted it from the phone, not from the server. Now, under Belle, "delete" does just that and removes from the server as well. Annoying, as it has meant I have deleted a few emails I intended to keep on my "master" version on my PC.
Anyone else having the same experience?
Prior to E7 it was possible to configure email delete in the phone to either mean "delete from server" or "delete in phone only".  It would be nice to get that option back!

It took two months to get to Australia and it's pants! Nokia have wrecked the mail application, their online guide is for ANNA... They have managed to make my last Nokia my last nokia...

  • Hi. If i buy an unlocked iphone from canada. Will i be able to use it in Mauritius Island on network Orange?

    Hi,
I live in Mauritius Island. My brother wants to send me an unlocked iphone 5s from CANADA as a gift, but i am unsure if i wil be able to use it here. Can you help? We use Orange here.

Not sure that they are selling unlocked phones in Canada.  Mostly, the Canadian phones are carrier locked and the Canadian carrier do not offer unlocking, with Bell being the main one.
It might work, but this would only be on 3G because you have to remember the frequency differences and phones built in Canada were designed to work in Canada with the Canadian carriers/networks.
Also be aware that warranty for the iPhone is not international, so if anything goes wrong with the phone and you need help, you'll have to physically go back to Canada or post the phone back to your brother in Canada, but not directly to Apple.

  • What does the symbol a bell with a slash thru it mean

What does the symbol a bell with a slash thru it mean?

You have silenced the ringer. Check the little switch near the external volume controls. Orange showing indicates silent mode.

  • Sounds icon (bell with line through it)

WHen I turn the ringer switch on the bell icon keeps flashing on and off of my screen muting my phones ringtone and alerts I have taken it to apple store the tech set it back to full reset (lostlists of my photos in the process) so annoying as applI shop isn't close by where I live

One way I got it to appear, in the settings and general you can choose what the side switch does, is it allmute or rotation lock. Have it be 'all mute' and then flip the switch so that you see orange it means that all the sound on your device is muted.
Simply turn that switch off and the bell goes away.

  • Problem with connection to internet after Belle wa...

After I installed belle on N-08 The connection to internet through Orange is no longer available(it's work fine with Anna).
I've ask again the settings from Orange and save it, but the result is the same "No connection available - The browser can't connect to internet site: http://orange/"

I had lost Wifi and 3G connection. At the end,
    http://europe.nokia.com/find-products/nokia-belle-update/nokia-belle-update-faq
"SPB Monitor" was closest to the solution. I deactivated all subdirectories in \private\ in all drives (phone, cards) even so they were not the ones mentioned. I restarted the phone, created an access point and could connect.
Eight hours of my life devoted to Nokia Belle configuration and four days without functioning phone. Hope Nokia is worth it.

  • Has anone on the UK Orange Network succesfully loa...

I am not sure if I am allowed to post a question such as this but (according to the many posts on this topic) there are quite a number of people who have not been able to obtain the full Anna upgrade because the additional update, known as 1/2 has not been offered or loaded correctly.
I realise that not all these people are on Orange but a fair number seem to be.
So, has anyone on the Orange UK network been successful in loading the additional Anna upgrade, known as 1/2.
If so how did you do it?
    Thanks in anticipation.

    @DeadmanN8
    Thanks for your response.
I must admit I have already seen your original posting but the only thing that put me off trying it was the need to reformat, reset and having to reset a number of functions because invariably something gets forgotten.
I guess I was also also hoping that in the 6 weeks or so since your original posting that a different, dare I say a less drastic method may have surfaced.
I had marked your original method and I will probably give it a go sometime but I still remain hopeful that Ovi Suite will suddenly realise that my phone has not got all the updates it requires.
I think this does prove one thing though and that is that there are people out there on Orange who are running the full updates and that maybe it is not Orange that have blocked it.
    Thanks again,
