Bells out of tune
I am not sure what's going on but the last mix is okay and this version sounds wrong and awful. I loaded the tuner and played the String Bell on the other track checking the tuning on the other track. The tuning was really off. A3, B and E plays 40 cents flat. C F and G are almost in tune. D is 20 cents flat. I understand that to get a bell something has to be out to make a clangorous sound but this seems to have sprung up with 10.1.1
Is anyone else getting this? I'm not even sure the bells are the problem. Is there a place to upload an audio clip to?
You should first get (me) some data:
how much is the detuning, is it more or less constant (every note same amount off, or differing amounts per note?) (use Logics' own Tuner plugin) and, also important, is it indeed only the brass that is out of tune?
If the detuning is one constant value, I'd say the pitch bend wheel is a suspect, especially when the softkeyboard in Kontakt sounds in tune.
But it is hard to troubleshoot like this, you should provide some more info. For instance I'd like to see the Event list for the region(s) that is (are) out of tune, I'd also like to see what happens if you filter out certain MIDI messages (pitchbend, mainly), in File>Project Settings>MIDI>Input Filter.
But, since I don't know what brand and type MIDIcontroller you have I have no way of knowing what kind of other tuning or detuning messages the thing is or can or may be sending.

Third Party Sample plug is sound out of tune in Logic X
Hi there:
I am using external libraries as plug ins with Logic X, and I am getting a few instruments sounding way out of tune. Initially I noticed it with the Vienna Symphonic Library, and now I am having the same problem with East/West smaples. What is the problem?
I made the clain to the support team at the Vienna Symphonic Library and they absolutely assure me that their samples are tuned at 440 Hz for A. I have managed the problem with Vienna Samples by tuning each instrument with my guitar tuner. But this is a serious nuisanse!
Today, I opened a project that I created in Logic 9 late last year, and many of the sounds from East/West were way out of tune! This is a disaster!
Can you advise what the problem could be?
I have a MacBook Pro from April 2010 withan i7 processor, 8 GB of RAM and an internal 1TB SSD for my third party sample instruments, with a Fireface 400 sound card,

I work with Logic Pro X every day since it has been released and noticed a very strange bug with both audio and software instruments (MIDI):
After saving and reloading a project Logic Pro X randomly plays audio files out of tune. It is not affecting every track, but some. I checked everything: sample rate, interface (Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2). The strange thing is: after stopping playback, starting, stopping again and starting again and opening the track in the sample window, playing it back there and so on.....everything works just fine.
Today the same with MIDI:
I saved a track some days ago. Today I reopened it. Just piano. Logic Pro X starts to insert false notes and some, not all, notes are out of tune. I checked the arrangement in the piano roll, score and event list. Everything is fine. No controllers, nothing. I even switched to another instrument and internal audio. Same result. I then moved the region to a new track (external MIDI) and played it back over USB and a ROLAND Juno-Di. Perfect. After that I exported the region as a MIDI file and imported it back to the same software instrument track were it was before. Everything works fine.
That's strange, isn't it?
The last two updates didn't correct this bug - and I really think it is a bug, because it happens to new songs and imported songs (from L9), but never happens in L9.
No third party plug-ins are involved! Just Logic! I checked that before.
I wrote a bug report for Apple and hope they will do something about it.
Anyone else with this bug?I just bumped into a similar mistuning (transposition) phenomenon, it is completely baffling. I MIDI recorded a simple chordprogression using an EXS24 piano. It was meant to be and is the first (and only) track with MIDI on it in this project. No hidden tracks, no Melodyne, no MIDI plugins, all Inspector values "virgin", just some MIDI that seems to be weirdly corrupted...?
When I played it back one note totally misbehaved: in a GMaj7 chord, the constituent B note was replaced by a (awfully dissonant) D# note! But the piano roll clearly shows a B note, not a D#. Even when I muted all notes exept the B note, a B note is heard when clicking the note, but when engaging playback, Logic plays a D#!?!?!?
I tried two different EXS piano's and the EP, they all exhibited this weird transposition of one single note.
It was a project started in LP9.
These B notes play a major third higher (D#) when played back. When clicked, they play the correct B note. -
QuickTime with out i-tunes?
I am a computer tech at a community college where we discourage our students from downloading and playing music on school computers. Is it possible to get the new Quicktime 7.1 with out i-tunes being bundled with it?

Track with Sculpture out of tune-sometimes
Basically, what's happening is that during playback the first 3 beats of the measure on the track Sculpture is on start out of tune. When I first open the song and hit the play button the instrument Sculpture plays back fine. Now lets say I want to edit something, freeze the track, whatever, after I've done it and hit play again sculpture plays the first 3/4 of the very first measure out of tune. The song starts at measure 1.5. If I cycle the region it plays back fine.....weird. There's no automation to Sculpture so I'm at a loss. Any ideas as to what might be happening?
Sculpture is not like other synths, period. One can't assume it obeys the laws of traditional subtractive or FM synthesis. The beast acts like a string. If the tension is slack, like putting a .07 string on the first string of a guitar, the note will be flat when struck and then become more in tune as is decays. Sculpture requires a lot of tweeking time to understand. The string tension, density and resolution are critical parameters. The higher or lower the note requires settings to couteract out of tune notes via these parameters. There are also "residual" effects that happen, perhaps even bugs. For instance, sometimes a reverb from the end of a track that had not finished it's tail before stopping, will be continued when the track is started from the beginning again. Sculpture has these residual effects but they can take different forms. Sculpture takes into account the vibrations of any note previous to a note played. That's to say if you play a note fresh with no note having been played before it, it will sound different if you played the same note and there had been a note played previous to it because it understands there are vibrations already happening which it encompasses into the new vibrations. So if there are vibrations still tailing off and you hit stop, those vibrations may act again at the beginning of the song and change the tuning of the first few notes. To make sure this doesn't happen, extend the song end and let any tails of synthesis or reverbs to complete before starting the song again. That being said, you will never get the same sound twice with Sculpture, it will play differently every time! It's almost human. Lovely synth, my friend.

Saved backing track sounds out of tune
Hi everyone,
I am having problems recording external audio (a backing track with drums and keyboards) from my synthersizer to Garageband. Sometimes when I do this it is saved successfully but it sounds out of tune and I am not sure why this is?
My synthersizer is connected to my apple computer with an audio cable and I always try to make sure that the tempo of the track on my Korg Triton Extreme synthersizer is the same as the tempo/speed on the track I have created on Garageband.
Any advice about this matter would be gratefully received.
Many thanks.Sculpture is not like other synths, period. One can't assume it obeys the laws of traditional subtractive or FM synthesis. The beast acts like a string. If the tension is slack, like putting a .07 string on the first string of a guitar, the note will be flat when struck and then become more in tune as is decays. Software Instrument Went Out of Tune - Please Help
I'm three hours into recording a song on Garageband. I've recorded vocals over a tune I recorded on the Blip Side software instrument (using an Oxygen-8 Midi controller), however Garageband crashed, I never saved properly, and now when I go back to the song, my Blip Side tune is completely out of tune which renders the vocals completely out of tune. I can't figure out how to get it back in tune and I'm worried it might be hopeless. I originally had messed with the Analog Basic settings on the Blip Side instrument and added a Tremelo, getting the insturment just how I wanted it and then I saved it, but now it's not the same. Thanks a lot for reading this and I'd appreciate any help I can get.
RyanYeah, the entire instrument is out of tune. I've tried duplicating the track and recording on the new one as well as copying the recorded notes onto the new track. I've also tried re-manipulating the instrument settings to try and match what it used to be, but I have no reference for it other than my voice.
It sounds like every note I had recorded got re-interpreted as one ore two notes further down the keyboard, messing the whole thing up. The first chord is now two spaces down on my 15 key keyboard for some reason. What do you mean by transpose? -
T500 internal Audio out of tune
Hi!
My T500 with Connexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 - Audio Card (driver 4.0.44.0) is out of tune.
Tuning is remarkable low.
Since I program other musical equipement the audio-output is completely useless for me in this state
How to reproduce: Take any other Computer and compare tuning of the system-sounds with each other. It seems, that the T500 plays it back to slow compared to the system-sounds from the other computer.Update:
I thought I had figured out the problem but.... no. But this might be of interest to others. I realized that when I was capturing this particular tape I had the vcr in pause mode when I started the capture. This was because I needed to bypass a few minutes of the beginning of the tape. Somewhere in the back of my mind I remember that FCP needed to have signal present when starting a capture in order to work properly. I quickly did a 15 minute capture of the tape (vcr in play when hitting 'capture now') and it worked! The audio track captured as 48k. So I went about re-capturing the whole tape. But the end result was the audio track was captured at 47998.2Hz. Now in comparison to the previous attempt this was a much smaller margin of error and as far as I can tell the sync is close enough so as not to be distracting. Haven't seen it on a big screen yet, so I'll hold off on final judgement. But the problem obviously still exists.
If I have some time I'm going to swap out the Sony converter for a dv camcorder that does on the fly analog to digital conversion and recapture the tape... again! I'll post back.

M-audio keystation 49e suddenly out of tune in logic 8
I've searched these forums and elsewhere on the net and haven't found a solution to my particular problem.
My M-Audio Keystation 49e keyboard controller (it's an old one, probably 8 years or so) is suddenly playing notes at about 31 cents flat in every softsynth that I've played it on today (EVP88, EXS24, Camel Alchemy, Dan Dean Bass). It's worked fine for years. I'm running Logic 8 under OS 10.6.7.
It does this no matter what octave setting I have it on. I haven't used any of the Advanced Functions of the keyboard, but just to be sure I followed the manual's instructions to reset everything (as best as I could anyway...it just said to press the Advanced Functions key and then tap the C#3 key to clear whatever settings I had, which were none). The pitch wheel is a springy one and is physically in the right spot - I saw in some discussions about making sure it's set to 64 but I'm not sure how to check that.
Any thoughts on this? I'm not sure if the problem is within the keyboard or within Logic and am not sure where to look next. In the meantime, I've pitched up the EVP88 by 31 cents and that at least gets the notes in tune, but I don't want to do that for every synth I play and then have to go back and change them or be confused by it later ha ha!
Thanks for any help! Not liking these new Apple forums. Just lost my latest posting....aargh! Wish I had copied what I had written before the error....
Basically, this link http://www.logic-users-group.com/forums/showthread.php?t=686 and this one https://discussions.apple.com/message/12935908?messageID=12935908 seemed to help. Looking in the Environment, I clicked something (not sure what) that put the synth back in tune. Then I went to Project Settings as described and checked the Pitch Bend Input Filter. Oddly, after doing that, the pitch bend rests at 53 instead of 64 and I'm back out of tune.
I'm guessing that it's time for a new controller. Sigh. -
Since i've upgraded to itunes 8.1. im experiencing nothing but problems. i don't know what the apple experts claim that itunes 8.1 does, but is much much slower for me.
Allow me to elaborate, i'm using time capsule store all of my music library. I realise that is not the most efficient way to manage my music library but it worked for me (so far). Itunes takes us to 2 minutes to load (sometimes forgets to load). When i add a new song i've just copied to my time capsule it takes up to 2-3 minutes to add it, i do not event want mention the time needed to massively edit albums....
In some extreme cases the application freezes in between tracks !!!
Please people don't tell me that my time capsule and the wireless transfer rate is responsible for that. Because it simply worked perfect for me with all of the previews Itunes versions.
Anyone there with the same problem? Any ideas for fixing this without downgrading .
i would love to listen what apple has to say about this officially...Welcome to the forums!
Definately give Apple tech support a call about this. http://www.apple.com/support/contact/

GB out of tune when playing composition
I have a very frustrating problem that I need help on. In a song I have composed I utilize the Sub Synth Bass software instrument. When I play individual notes in the edit mode the tones are correct. When I hit play to listen to the composition the notes are about a half step lower in pitch. This is no joke. I couldn't believe my ears but it is actually happening. None of the other software instruments in the composition (about 15) have this problem. Any ideas?
The pitch adjustment is at zero. Besides, when the pitch is adjusted it affects the notes all the time, even when you are in edit and click on a single note. My problem is that when I am in edit and click on a single note the pitch is correct. The pitch does not change until I hit the play arrow to play back the track.

Hi,
Old laptop crashed. Got new one. Only just got round to sorting out i-tunes. Managed to transfer some content from pc, but prob gonna have to do the whole CD thing again! However, trying to update i-pod and I can't, it tells me it is linked to another library and do I want to erase and sync.
Of course I do not want to do this as I would lose numerous songs.
Any suggestions?

I-tunes for Windows XP Professional x64
I tried a lot to find out i-tunes for Windows XP Professional x64 bit
but i didn't get any solution for installing i-tunes in my laptop which had Windows XP Professional x64 bit.
when i asked to other person then at last i found only one reply that,
"If i want to install i-tunes in my laptop then i has to CHANGE OPERATING SYSTEMiTunes is a 32 bit program.
The 64 bit installer has 64 bit drivers for burning and the iPhone.
If you don't have an iPhone you should be able to install the 32 bit iTunes and then download the 64 bit Gear drivers for burning from the Gear download site:
http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.cfm
You may need to enable scripts if you are using Firefox with Noscript.
If you have an iphone and want to try to get the 64 bit installer to work here are some links that may help:

Having a problem getting songs from the i-tunes store
I have a lot of songs I would like to buy, So I went into the i-tunes store. My only way I can pay is through paypal (which I found out i-tune store accepts) so I proceeded to pay for the mp3, but then it said to verify my paypal account I needed to enter my credit/debit card info, this is my problem I am only sixteen and I don't have a credit/debit card. I tried to see if there was another way to verify my paypal but there isn't. I have the money I need to buy the song with in my paypal plus my bank account is tied to my paypal account but like I said I can't verify it that way.
I would like to know if there is anything that can be done so I can buy my songs, so please help me out here.
