Benq 24" connected to imac, losing a bit of the left side at 1920x1200

I've connected a Benq 24" display to an intel mac, running 10.5.1 Both screens are at their native res, which is 1920x1200 on the Benq, running in mirrored mode. The imac looks fine, but the the picture on the Benq is shifted to the left about half an inch. Meaning I don't see the apple, but I can see the name of the active app.
One thing I'm doing at the moment is running with VGA, because I have my PC plugged into the DVI and DVI switches are still pricier than I'd like. Maybe that's part of it, I'll probably pick up the DVI adapter this week to test it, might even try the DVI adapter and then use a DVI-HDMI cable I have, just to make it complicated. The Benq has a HDMI input, and admittedly the VGA picture is a bit soft.
Any other suggestions on things to try?

That sounds like something that shoud be fixable with the BenQ monitor's
local On Screen Display adjustments. Most monitors with VGA inputs have
horizontal/vertical positioning controls.

Presuming you get the chime, most of your Mac hardware is working and has passed the first part of the power-on self-test.
If the screen comes on, basic graphics is working.
The dark gray Apple is not present inside the Mac -- it must be loaded from a boot device. If the dark gray Apple appears, at least one of your boot devices has some capabilities. The flower petal/gear moves while Darwin is initializing and loading. If it stops immediately, something is terribly wrong.
When the screen turns blue, Mac OS X has loaded and your graphics card transitions to Interrupt-driven operation. LoginWindow task draws the login screen, and Mac OS X is ready for login.
What could be the problem depends on where in the process it stops, and whether the power light is blinking.

  • I've connected my external monitor (LG) to my new Macbook Pro 15" laptop, using the adaptor for VGA...the display now has a large black bar along the left side.  No adjustment on the monitor will fix it, no "options" on System Prefs either...any ideas?

I've just purchased a new Macbook Pro, and connected it ot my external monitor (24" LG HD) using an Apple VGA adaptor.  The only resolution that looks good is the 1920 x 1080, but the image does not entirely fill the screen.  There is a large black gap on the left side of the screen now.  It worked fine with my "last generation" Macbook Pro...no adjustment on the monitor will help, and cannot find any System Setting in displays such as "options" or widescreen setting.  I've gone to the LG site, but no "Mac" related tech support issues come up...no forum here seems to deal with this particular issue either...any ideas?

I have the same thing but with a 23 inch HP, worked fine with my MBP 13 from 2009 but the 2011 2.4 i5 does the exact same thing as yours!
Very confused and hoping that some one else can help.
    Thanks

Plug iPhone in with Wall Charger and Reset, hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone begins to start. Can take up to 20 seconds of holding both buttons.

  • Why is the left side of my iMac screen darker than the other, and why does the display randomly go black?

My family has a late 2010 27" Imac. A few months ago, we noticed that the left side of the screen was somewhat darker than the right. As time went on, it continued to get worse and worse. When you turn the computer off for an hour or so, it helps the display out somewhat, but it eventually goes back to being darker on the left. About two months ago, the display started to go completely black. When the screen is black, everything still runs. My itunes library will still play, everything is functioning even though the screen is out. It has started to become more frequent. It is extremely annoying, almost unbearable. Since the one year warranty went out in November, what are we supposed to do about this?

Contact Apple Service, iMac Service or Apple's Express Lane. It's a known issue with 27" iMacs and you might be eligible for replacement. I had mine replaced shortly after buying it. BTW, AppleCare's extended warranty is the cheapest insurance policy one can have for desktop machines. Too bad you missed the deadline.

  • My iPad 2 is connected, works well and is found under "devices" on the left side of my iTunes window.  But when I go into my iTunes account the iPad2 is not listed nor found to be "associated" with my account.  Why not?

My iPad 2 is connected, works well and is found under "devices" on the left side of my iTunes window.  However, when I go into my iTunes store account under "manage devices" the iPad2 is not listed nor found to be "associated" with my account.  Why not?

Even if you put a credit or debit card on file with iTunes it will still use your balance FIRST.
I would suggest putting a card on file and testing to see if it will allow you to make a purchase, then removing the card from the account after successful download of an item.

  • Access Connections icon on the left side instead of the right side on taskbar

As stated in the title of this post the icon of Access Connection 5.72 is on the left side. The only way to have it correctly on the right side is to go to 'Toolbars' on the task bar -> uncheck Access Connections -> apply -> recheck Access Connections -> apply -> ok
    Lenovo, please fix this

    @kingskawn,
Could you let me know where can I obtain this SCCM software so I may try to replicate this bug?
Also do update the TVAC to the latest version.

I understand you are using Update Retriver to download the software but there are some delays in the Update Retriver compared to the Lenovo Support site. Therefore try installing the latest TVAC and then install the SCCM software and see the bug still occur.

  • Display discoloration on the left side of my iMac monitor.

I recently notice a dim discoloration on the left side of my iMac monitor. From top to bottom and about 1/8 of the screen. Kinda like a faint burn but has not a distinguishable image just seem to be wavy lines up and down and starts happening as soon as I bootup. Is this common and will my applecare cover a replacement?

I'm not even sure why you posting on a help forum when you have AppleCare, the first thing I'd recommend you do is   pick up the phone and call AppleCare, describe the problem and they will advise how to proceed. It's that simple, follow the directions they provide and the issue should be handled.

Apple Service, iMac Service or Apple's Express Lane. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine.

Is this a known hardware problem? Happened today to my 2011 iMac - less than 2 months old.

Call Applecare or take it in for warranty service.  In answer to your question, not to my knowledge (I have never seen it before myself).

  • My disk icons are a bit on the 2D side

My macbooks icons for any sort of disk seem to be very flat, ala system 7.
This is despite the fact that I am in fact running OS 9.
its a bit vexing to tell the truth, will I have to use resedit to change the icon resources? or is there an easier method?
    hmm...

    Aha, a network drive.
Do you have write permission on the top level of the drive ?
Is it a Mac HFS+ formatted drive ? Or FAT32 ? Or NTFS ? Or something else ?

  • The left side of the iPhone 5S screen is bumping a little bit

few days ago, i noticed that the left side of my iphone 5s screen seems to not be fixed well. if you take a look at it, you can notice a liitle bump (less than 1mm) in the edge of the edge of the screen. when i push the screen softly with my finger, it goes down and the bump diappears and when i release it, the bump appears. it semms like the edge of the screen is moving up and down in the left side. none of that is observed in the right side of the screen. what is the problem? how can be fixed?

How long ago was the iPhone exposed to rain? How long did you attempt to dry it? How did you attempt to dry it? Did you power the device off before allowing it to dry?
More than likely, given the behavior that you are describing, the device is damaged and will need to be replaced. Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store for an out of warranty replacement.
